Bisou · 05/04/2008 16:30

By the way bcsnowpea I'm in Australia too! Do you know what the deal is with scans/appointments etc in NSW? My last pregnancy was in the UK so I'm in the dark about what happens here.

I was about to have a lovely cup of peppermint tea tonight, when I vaguely remembered reading somewhere that it is one of the things you're not supposed to have if you have a history of MC. And here I was thinking I was being good avoiding normal tea which has caffeine in it. Cripes - is there nothing that I love that I can eat/drink? Have been having cravings for Port recently. On the plus side I did have a HUGE steak tonight which was yummo Grin

kayzisexpecting · 05/04/2008 16:39

I have cravings for Pickled Onions. Just went to the shop and they only had ones in sweet vinegar and they are horrible. Also craving PistachiosSad

mibbes · 05/04/2008 17:18

kayz at least you have healthy cravings !
nando I feel the same, no symtpoms and just wish the next few weeks would hurry up and pass so that I can feel more confident that beany is there for the longhaul.
Bisou where are you in Oz ? Am so Envy of you and bcsnowpea. I have been twice and loved it. We have toyed with the idea of working there for a year+ but family ties have always stopped us in the end. There is no way we'll be going anywhere now !
OOh and peppermint tea is bad ? Shock I have been drinking it loads Blush I had no idea. Is green tea ok ?

BrightShinySun · 05/04/2008 17:43

Hi all glad we're all ok. Well ive been feeling queasy all day, preying it doesnt get too bad. It was bad enough having sickness last time without a 19mo to run after! Mibbes sorry dont know about different teas im afraid im a builders tea kinda gal!

modernlove · 05/04/2008 18:19

Hi guys. Can I join in? Had BFP earlier this week. Thought we hadn't been successful but implantation bleed must have fooled me as soon after boobs became really sore so I did test. Is my first so very excited as is dh - but both nervous. Congrats and good luck to everyone on here. xx

kayzisexpecting · 05/04/2008 18:21

Congratulations Modernlove!!!Grin

Do you know your due date?

modernlove · 05/04/2008 18:28

kayzisexpecting · 05/04/2008 18:35

rosmerta · 05/04/2008 18:55

congratulations modernlove & hello!

mibbes we nearly moved to Oz as well but like you said, family ties are quite strong! We're still hoping to go though at some point even with the dcs!

ChutneyMary · 05/04/2008 20:38

Kayz, DD1 was 3 yesterday. And DH1 is 40 tomorrow. An expensive month in our house. Am also weeing for Britain. Goes with the territory I think.

Bisou, thank you for asking, I would be delighted if you would add me to the list Smile

Nandos, don't fret about the lack of symptoms. I remember with DD1 that I was 7 weeks pregnant and sitting in the EPU at St Thomas' waiting to hear if the pg was viable or not.... basically had been told that if there was no heartbeat then, there wouldn't be one. I was frantic as I didnt feel anything at all. There was a heartbeat, and sure enough 2 days later I was head in a bucket, where I remained for
about 6 weeks. In lots of women, the symptoms don't kick in until that bit later, by the time your HCG levels are higher. Some lucky sods don't ever have symptoms. My neighbour did the london to brighton cycle race at 10 weeks pregnant. I could barely make it out of bed by 10 weeks. We're all different. Try to relax a bit Smile

BrightShinySun, sorry you are feeling sick. I find a good dose of cbeebies works wonders when trying to negotiate toddlers and feeling pants yourself.

Mibbes, I've not heard that about the tea. I know you shouldn't have raspberry leaf tea, but never heard peppermint. I'll google and come back Smile.

Am sittting here "enjoying" an alcohol free beer whilst DD1 tries to avoid going to be. Could be a long night. She slept in the car, which is always bad. Have we done our ages yet? I bet I am the oldest on here by a mile. I'm 38, BTW.

kayzisexpecting · 05/04/2008 20:40

I'm 21, 22 on the 23rd of this month. Dh is taking me to London for 4 days. So off shopping to the big fancy Mamas and Papas.

I just had to shit and watch dh drink my cider.

artichokes · 05/04/2008 20:47

Hiya

I am 29, 30 in June. Might have to revise my party plans as drinking and dancing won't work be that fun with a bump...

I am sat on the sofa worrying. DH is away tonight. I have lower left niggling abnomidal pain. The hypochondiraic in me is screaming ectopic, but the sensible part of me remembers I had similar pain with DD and early scans showed no problems. I just wish DH was here to reassure me Sad.

Am off to pee again...

pixsix · 05/04/2008 21:19

Congrats and welcome to all the new people!

I still don't have many symptoms either, I'm just really tired and a bit dizzy at times.

Hope everyone is ok.

rosmerta · 05/04/2008 22:35

I'm 30, birthday in June so definitely won't be drinking at that one.

Kayz, lucky you with the shopping trip! Hope you have a good time.

bcsnowpea · 06/04/2008 01:14

Bisou- what part of Oz are you in?
I'm not sure about the ante-natal care process either, as I had ds in Canada. I'm a little nervous. My GP at uni gave me a referral to both a birth clinic and an ante-natal clinic, as she wasn't sure how I would qualify with me previous c-section.
I guess it's up to me to call and book now.

Bisou · 06/04/2008 01:44

I'm in Sydney too bcsnowpea Smile

I guess we'll have to see what happens here. I haven't been to a doctor yet, just waiting another little while just in case. A part of me wants to fib and say I don't know my dates so I can get an early scan IYKWIM!

mibbes, here is where I found that info on Peppermint tea, but there are many more sites that actually recommend it during pregnancy! I am probably just a little bit extra nervous because I had a bad experience last time. I did also ask my mum who is a fully qualified herbal medicine practicioner, and she's said she's never heard that peppermint is a risk during pregnancy. I'll probably still steer clear just to be on the safe side though.

How wonderful that both rosmerta and artichokes are celebrating birthdays in June. Wonder if you're on the same day? I'm 30 myself, birthday in September Smile

Bisou · 06/04/2008 02:09

ps: forgot to say CONGRATS modernlove! Lovely to have you here with us Grin Grin Grin

cazcaz · 06/04/2008 06:29

Hi, can I join you all please?

Got a BFP yesterday and think I'm due on the 12th December.

This will be dc3 for me, have two boys at the mo ages 7 and 4. My poor DH has children from his first marriage as well, I think he's just realising he's never going to be rich!

I told him last night when we went out for dinner, I was quite nervous as we had said 'no more', but he was lovely and said 'well we'll have to get the cot out then. I'm just going to get a beer!'

Feel ok although do keep getting stomach cramps as though period on its way, but
(.)(.) very sore.

Anyway just wanted to say hi and that I hope we all have problem free pregnancies!

kayzisexpecting · 06/04/2008 07:06

Morning all,

Welcome Cazcaz!

I am so Envy of Bisou and Bcsnowpea I'd love to live in Australia. I have 1 cousin there in Melbourne and 1 who is looking at moving there as he has been offered a job, but I'm not sure where. I have told him that we are coming to visit!!

Bisou · 06/04/2008 07:26

Welcome cazcaz! Nice to finally have someone due on the same day as me Smile

kayz I believe it's much harder now to emigrate than it used to be - sadly for both sides! It used to be that you could easily live and work in your fellow Commonwealth country, but now immigration is much stricter. Although if you have a specific skill that is in demand then I think there are special schemes that make it easier to get residence. One thing to remember too is that it's so far away from the UK so if you're missing your family it's not so easy (or cheap!!) to just 'pop' back!

But it is lovely here lifestyle wise, and the weather is certainly better. I am missing some foody things though (British sausages are the best!) but at least I can get Green & Blacks chocolate at the supermarket if I get nostalgic Wink

kayzisexpecting · 06/04/2008 07:33

I am trying to persuade dh to train as a plumber. I think its the weather and the lifestyle we are after. I think we'll have to stick with visiting family until we win the lottery(I wish)
