Hello all. I'm so jealous of everyone finishing today - how wonderful!

Mum2b2BabyRoo - that recipe looks delicious, will try it out this weekend (my baking skills are, uhm, a bit rubbish, but I'll try!)

Ah, Scorpio, poor you. Have you been able to chat to her on the phone? Could you get someone to set up a webcam so you could have some face-to-face conversations? I don't know how but I think it's relatively simple.

VS and others feeling crap, hope you feel better/have your babies soon! I can't believe how close we are getting now. My SPD seemed better over the past couple of days, I was all cocky about my labour pain-relief hormones kicking in, but today it is AGONY. Still, off to the orthotics dept in a bit to get my proper belt (FINALLY) so with any luck that will help.

Was supposed to carry on the house-sorting my bro and I started on Tues today, but went back to bed at 10am and woke up at 1.30! The pain was so bad I just couldn't face getting up so I willed myself back to sleep instead. Bit as now house is in that looks-messier-before-it-looks-better stage and we're coming up to the four day weekend.

I can't sit/lie any way without getting pins and needles now! I wonder if that's something to do with being absurdly heavy?!

Carey87 · 20/03/2008 15:29

no no! i am here, sorry, i was in a meeting.

all house work can wait, you'll feel a lot better about doing it if yo ufeel better!

Fear not scampmum, I'm here!

Scorpio {{{{{hugs}}}}}}, thinking of you

Everyone with coughs, colds, dodgy tummies and contractions - {{hugs}} too

I've been getting quite a few period pains, which freaked me out at first, but now that I know that a) nothing happens when I get them and b) they are probably just the baby engaging a bit more (uterus has to contract to push baby down), I can cope a bit better. Having said that, I find them painful enough to need to take paracetamol to get through them. Hot bath helps too. Oh, and I have one of those microwavable lavender heat bag things, which is really nice on my back when they're bad (I don't put it on my tummy as I'm worried about overheating the baby!!!)

I've just got back from lunch with friends at the Cheesecake Shop - fridge now has triple choc cheesecake in

And am waiting in all afternoon for new beds to be delivered from John Lewis. Quite glad to have excuse to have to stay in - no energy today, don't want to go shopping (but need to).

Did buy sling material today - quite tricky trying it on when quite so pregnant! Will have to tie DH up when he gets home!

Happy "last-day-at-work" for those ladies finishing today

ToastAddict · 20/03/2008 15:36

Oh and VS, thanks for that contraction website - have saved to favourites. Kind of thing DH will like

Piccalilli2 · 20/03/2008 15:46

Wow, you lot can talk!

Very jealous of people who are engaged already, I'm due in 2 and a half weeks and baby not at all engaged yet. I went out and bought a birthing ball today (have finally started mat leave!) so will try having a bounce on that later.

TheMaskedPoster · 20/03/2008 15:52

Piccalilli2 _ I'm due in 2 weeks and baby still not engaged. MW told me to do some 'swaying-type moves' to try and get baby into position and I have been sitting on a birthing ball for weeks (and am going to lean over it more too). I have started taking RL tablets today - so hopefully that may help.

((hugs)) to Scorpio re your Nan and to VS (and others feeling unwell). I felt like utter merde on Sunday and was crying at the drop of a hat, but have felt ok for the rest of the week.

right - lets start some

scorpio1 · 20/03/2008 15:53

TA - a Cheesecake shop - wow!!

Scampmum - good idea but have since discovered she is in ICU - next 24 hours, apparently critical, prepare for worst, etc. She was eating and ok on Tuesday. She has pancreatitis (sp?), not sure what that is either.

Have made lush sheperds pie for dinner tonight!!

TheMaskedPoster · 20/03/2008 15:55

snap scorpio - we are having Shepherds pie for dinner too (must start it soon-ish actually)with cabbage done with spring onion and bacon.

Fingers crossed for your Nan. x

honeybee10 · 20/03/2008 16:39

Hi everyone, don't post very often but lurk in the background following everyone elses. Am now 34+5 weeks and have already had enough. Had to finish work last week earlier than planned due to carpal tunnel syndrome, which keeps me awake half the night in between getting up for 4 wees a night!! It was a relief to finish but now feel really down in the dumps about this time stretching out in front of me before this baby comes. Unfortunately not getting any nesting urges - my house could do with some!!!
Sorry it seems like I only post on here when I have something to winge about!!

moominsmummy · 20/03/2008 16:40

Bad mummy alert

was so busy catching up on the threads that forgot to put broccolli on for DS tea - the one small redeeming feature in a meal otherwise consisting of freezer junk (fish fingers and potatoe smiles)

He has also watched 3 hours of tv this pm cos I dozed off on the sofa

bad bad mummy

((((hugs)))) to scorpio and family

v exciting to hear about all these tummy twinges - surely some must end soon in another baby??

Carey87 · 20/03/2008 16:51

please please please let it be me!!!

had enough of the tummy achy things! had three in the past 2 hours and it really hurts!!!

Carey87 · 20/03/2008 16:52

on a good note though, 9 minutes to go before I leave work, and they all gave me a lovely card and next vouchers!!!

Really sorry about your Nan Scorpio

Great news Ellie, must be such a relief!

Hope all you last-day-at work ladies had a good day!

Masked: I wouldn't worry about measuring 36cm's if you're almost 38. My doc said there is a 10% leeway on that.

Mum2b: thanks for the cup cake recipe- can't wait to try them.

The online timer says "When your contractions are about 20 minutes apart and are staying even if you walk around or lay on your left side, you are in labor! This is the time to get to the hospital". I've been told to call when I am getting 2 contractions every 10 mins that last for more than 40 seconds...

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 20/03/2008 17:06

Shame Scorpio - my heart does go out to your nan and you and your family - especially you as you can't get to her.

{{{hugs}}} for you too hun.

Scampmum · 20/03/2008 17:25

by the way, girls, DD never engaged at all and I had a pretty quick labour (well, first stage anyway) so never fear! I also thought that it was quite unlikely for second and beyond babies to engage at all?

Have to tidy up as we have babysitters tonight (we're going Out For Dinner - figure it's our last few weeks of any opportunity to do that...). Need to pick up DD in about 20 mins so best get cracking!

Orthotic appointment was good, took about five mins and belt seems pretty helpful. Trying not to be narked that it's taken four months to get the appointment...

CONGRATULATIONS to all those who finished work today!

ThePFJ · 20/03/2008 17:34

Sod this, sod it all. Mum cant come up now at all to see me. Am so upset. DP has done nothing but shout at me all day. Apparently I whinge too much when it hurts. He's not going to cook anything now. I just want to curl up and die.

LIFE SUCKS.

Mollyfloss · 20/03/2008 17:35

I'm off out too tonight, meeting a friend for drinks (non-alcoholic cocktails for me ) an then DH is joining us for dinner. Must take advantage of last few weeks before the baby comes!

Mollyfloss · 20/03/2008 17:38

Oh PFJ, just saw your post. Am so sorry your Mum can't come, you were really looking forward to her coming. Wasn't she going to be at the birth?

tell your DP to cop on, he's not the one carrying around a baby for 9 months and he doesn't have to go through the pain you are feeling. If all he has to do is put up with a little whinging from you then he should consider himself lucky!!!

So sit back, chill out, try to forget all that and most importantly have a mini-egg

ThePFJ · 20/03/2008 17:43

Apparently I kept him up most of the night moving about and crying out when it hurt, I was asleep so I don't know. His back really hurts as well he says. But he only mentioned that now, rather than earlier today. I told him to take some pain pills but I think he's just saying that as an excuse to be irritable. Plus I gave him a lie in for an extra 4 hours after I got up because I knew he didn't sleep well..
I dont know why he's being so negative and irritable all of a sudden.
I told him earlier I had some more serious contractions, and he just got angry.
I suppose it could be fear, but its really just upsetting me.

I think I'll just hide up here for a bit longer and eat biscuits. I am so hungry.

moominsmummy · 20/03/2008 17:51

PFJ - sorry to hear DP being such a grumpy git - things will definitely seem better when you eat more biscuits - here have a slice of chocolate cake too

is anyone else getting annoyed with people saying "ooo you shouldn't be doing that in your condition!" - especially when it's things like picking up DS - I mean FFS - what else am I going to do?? I am not disabled I am pregnant

ThePFJ · 20/03/2008 17:54

My mum worries about me over the phone, telling me to be careful on the stairs and getting out of the bath, but DP doesn't. Sometimes I wish he would. I guess you can't win really. If he did I'd say.. nono I am fine. But since he doesnt I wonder if he cares.
Typical womenly thinking I suppose haha. Not very progressive is it?

VictorianPASqualor · 20/03/2008 17:54

PFJ, just tell him to piss off and get over himself.
FGS so what if his back aches, he isn't carrying another human being inside him, and if he carries on whinging throw a couple of kilo bag of spuds on his lap and ask him to try doing anything let alone sleep in that condition.

ThePFJ · 20/03/2008 17:57

Thanks VS. Must stop crying into my digestives. Am such a wuss.
