Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

and big BH. i hate the last 2 weeks.

ToastAddict · 25/03/2008 18:13

Sorry, just thought (clearly my pharmacist-brain has shut down now I'm on mat leave ) - you're not on any other meds are you? That you take at night? That's the only reason I could see them advising you to wait til morning, if you're on something that you shouldn't take at the same time...

If you are, and you don't want to discuss here, happy to email privately.....

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 25/03/2008 18:14

Thanks TA - you are a STAR!!!

scorpio1 · 25/03/2008 18:23

and another.

christmaspixie · 25/03/2008 18:25

What do you mean about spongy tummy? When baby goes to sleep/ turns around and isn't so hard feeling? Also, someone mentioned a while back about their cervix having dissapeared...what does that mean? What would it feel like if birth were imminent? Does anyone know? I haven't a clue how they can tell if you're effaced, or dilated. Or, for that matter, what a cervical sweep involves?

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 25/03/2008 18:26

No - not taking anything else besides vast quantities of Gaviscon! Thanks again - you have made my evening a bit more bearable hopefully!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 25/03/2008 18:30

Christmaspixie - by spongy tummy I mean it doesn't feel hard as it normally does and when you feel it, it feels soft and spongy like - can't think of a better word than spongy.

christmaspixie · 25/03/2008 18:34

maybe it's when the baby has changed position - mine felt really hard when in right position - all I could feel was her back and bottom! But now LO has gone back to back I can feel hard limbs, but also spongy bits?

Meant to say too- about the full moon, the next one's not till 20th April, so those of us due near to then, what's the betting we'll all be popping on that date!! (I felt decidedly weird this full moon - loads of twinges, BH and an upset tummy. Fine again now.) ooooOOOOOooooo WooooOOOOooooo (That's a werewolf by the way)

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 25/03/2008 18:40

Well that would make sense - will double check with MW when I see her again next week.

Full moon would explain why I am feeling so cry baby hormonal! My LO is only due 29 april and I am really hoping that she/he does not come sooner - in fact I am hoping for the 1 May (was my darling granny's birthday and would really mean so much to my mom and I if baby came on that date!)

SuzeM · 25/03/2008 18:55

Aw, congratulations, TheMaskedPoster.

Peachy, your MIL sounds horrible.

My FIL is just annoying, I can't really complain, I suppose.

I left work early, my vision was blurred and I was convinced I had Bell's Palsy or pre-eclampsia but I feel fine now so am obviously just a hypochondriac or else need to adjust my monitor settings. I think it is just as well I finish work at the end of the week though, it is now getting in the way of pedicures, shopping for baby and me, lunches out, etc.

VS, hopefully your baby will arrive before your CS date.

I haven't had to look at nurseries as not planning to go back to work until the baby is 2 or so, but might do the odd contract if I can work from home, so I would like to find a babysitter ... how do I go about finding someone we can trust? Is it best to use an agency?

Peachy · 25/03/2008 19:01

Not sure MIL is horrid, I think there are serious underlying mental health issues- her Mum left her the age of 4 and she was put in a home for a year so in her defence she's not ahd a fair chance at it all.

Suze, check your iron levels too- they can cause visual problems if low. But the visual disturbances associated with pre-eclampsia are intermittent so ALWAYS get them checked!

SuzeM · 25/03/2008 19:11

Thanks, I will call the GP or midwife if it happens again.

That must have been very tough for your MIL, still, it does sound best not to have much contact with her.

Mollyfloss · 25/03/2008 19:12

SuzeM: Maybe get yourself checked out just in case.

By the way, you might want to look into nurseries anyway even if you don't plan to send the baby there until he/she is 2. I may well end up doing the same but from what I've heard some of them can even get booked up that far in advance. I'm sure you'd find something but it would be nicer to have a choice. I'm trying make sense of lists of nurseries now and am asking anyone I know who already has kids in this area when they applied and to which one's etc. I've been on the case researching all day since the others here on this thread warned me how difficult it can be in London. It's a real pain but if I don't do it now it's unlikely it will get done after the baby is born...

Peachy: All I can say is that you are a very understanding and patient woman!

SuzeM · 25/03/2008 19:21

Agh, Mollyfloss, they are booked up two years in advance?! I think you are near me, I will email you if you don't mind?

I am thinking of a French nursery as have a vague plan to move to France by the time she is 5, dh will work in London and join us at weekends. I think he drew the short straw there! I would love to move back to the US but stupidly we didn't get green cards in our 5 years there.

Yes, Peachy, you are very understanding.

Pip12 · 25/03/2008 19:44

Hi

I would like to know if anyone of you have seen this website - The MalayWay Postnatal Treatment on the website www.themalayway.co.uk. It looks very interesting and different. It's a traditional postnatal treatment which apparently can tighten the uterus after birth and you can lose the flabby tummy by using the 'Barut' or 'wrap'. It sounds great but would like to know if anyone has tried it.

I would not want to have a flabby tummy after given birth and am so curious about this thing.

SuzeM · 25/03/2008 19:59

It looks uncomfortable to me. I think I'll stick to Spanx.

chipmonkey · 25/03/2008 20:01

Wow, congratulations TMP!!!!!!!{grin]

VictorianPASqualor · 25/03/2008 20:03

vacaloca, it wasn't general still birth stats, just about my personal placental issues.
The doc did agree that the best thing all round would be baby to decide it wants to come early and she was really insistent that it was my decision to go with 40weeks not theirs so I feel a bit better about it. Doctor Mccord or soemthing, I cant read her signature!

chipmonkey · 25/03/2008 20:13

Your DP had better brace himself for the next 2 weeks, VS!

Mollyfloss · 25/03/2008 20:24

SuzeM: My preference is for the French nurseries too and I'm pestering all the French people I know here for some info. I haven't called them yet so don't know how far in advance they get booked up (they may not be as bad) but I have a few names so no probs if you want to e-mail me.

I'm going to check out the Malay Way now. Sounds like it could be useful

VS: Fingers crossed you'll go into labour early.

ThePFJ · 25/03/2008 20:27

The Malay way thing doesnt look any good to me.If you want my brutally honest opinion the website looks like a load of old bull designed to make money from mothers who worry about their figure, using some weird foreign tribal idea as a niche to try and get customers.
Seriously.

Thats just my opinion though. Don't waste your money.

SuzeM · 25/03/2008 20:30

ThePFJ, how are you doing?

Carey87 · 25/03/2008 20:33

I'm sorry, but I agree with PFJ. And the pictures arent even of the same position, they just get further away, making the appearance that the stomach and thighs are getting smaller, when they are actually the same size.

Thanks so much for asking SuzeM.

It's an ALL STOP over in my camp I am afraid

Still eating like a horse and running to the toilet alot. BH are happening loads, and I've been sick a few times.
I suppose this is a good thing. My mum says she might be able to come see me on Friday.

Of course if it changes I will let you girls know as soon as.

xxx
