Thread title reflects the fact that every day that passes it dawns on me a bit more

OP posts:

Sorry Sweetkitty, yours are lovely names too, I wanted the name Grace for a girl but my BF called her little girl Grace, and Bethany is lovely! Abiagail and Talia are beautiful names too, never heard of Talia before, where does it come from?

tafftaff · 28/03/2008 14:42

I can't believe we are on the verge of 6 months too! Where did the time go?

You guys are coming up with such lovely names. My DP and I can't agree on any of the ones we suggest to each other. We both originally liked Edward if it was a boy but now I am not sure. I am kind of hooked on James for a boy and Grace for a girl. Looks like Grace is a popular one but that's not swaying me as it is just so lovely for a little girl. DP's not convinced though! I am working on him by signing emails and texts from me and Grace (not so good if it turns out to be a boy ).

Oooo, the sun has just come out here ...hope the weather's getting better for everyone else.

bebejones · 28/03/2008 14:57

Just a quickie, been so busy decorating last couple of days so just had a quick 'catch up'! Scan went fine, it's still a girl!!! She measures up with the dates so all looks to be ok. Still suffering with bad pelvic pain, doc has said it's coz she is so low down and I have to take it easy!!!

Loving the names people have chosen. We are fairly settled on Phoebe Elizabeth, but DH is struggling coz he cant spell Phoebe! Will pick some other names in case she isnt a Phoebe, but I am quite determined that she will be. Plus she gave me a big kick when we asked her if she liked it (taking that to be a good sign)!!!!

mummypig · 28/03/2008 14:59

hi everyone, special hello to ichef and Libra1975

Jodie and Squarah, I know how you feel about being physically limited. Our nearest supermarket is about 10-15 mins walk away and usually I would do there and back no problem, but the last time I carried the bags back it set of my pelvic pain so now I catch the bus back. It feels so inconvenient and unnecessary but I know I have to look after myself. I went swimming yesterday though, for the first time in ages, and it was lovely feeling relatively 'weightless' and almost forgetting the bump was there!

Squarah dp and I have a book called 'Children's Spaces' by Judith Wilson, and it has some ideas for baby rooms that are neither twee and frilly nor covered in primary colours. It's a great book, very stylish. We haven't exactly copied any of the pictures or ideas as templates but it has given us hints as to different ways of planning the rooms. The flyleaf says £17.99 and it's a few years old (published 2001) but you might be able to find it in a library or possibly on readitswapit ISBN 1 84172 120 4

Jodie I think Bethany is a lovely name. Shame I won't be able to use any of my fave girl's names as I'm fairly keen for this to be my last pregnancy. It's difficult thinking of names for a third boy but I have come up with a few... doubtless dp will cross most of them off but as long as there's at least one left it should work out! It's funny, in dp's family there seems to be a tradition to give the first son a name with the same initial letter as the dad, but we haven't stuck with it and no-one has complained (dp's dad doesn't seem bothered about family traditions). I always thought it would be difficult knowing who the letters were for.

I haven't been buying any stuff, and friends have started asking me what I need. I really can't think of much that we don't already have or can't be handed down from friends. I might look out for a sling to use with a newborn and I imagine we'll have to get another buggy at some point as the lightweight Maclarens are convenient but seem to fall apart quite easily. Other than that I think it will be ds1 who gets all the new things, if we ever get round to moving him into his own bedroom.

nearly time to collect the boys from school. Was going to have a short nap first but look what i've ended up doing instead

mummypig · 28/03/2008 15:02

I think I was a bit garbled talking about the initials of names, I meant with the same initials and surname it wouldn't be clear who the mail was for.

RUMPEL · 28/03/2008 15:31

Hi All,

Mostly lovely names you have all come up with - were would we all be if we all liked the same?

SWEETKITTY - Love the name Bethany - it is beautiful. I too have peed myself when coughing 'cos of this horrid virusy thing! I do my PFs regularly but suppose it is 'cos have been pg quite a few times over the past 3 years now! I am with you on the guilty front re being pg and miserable too. I don't wish a premmie either - God it is terrible all this guilt and feeling rubbish. This wee one will be your last too then eh? barring accidents of course

MINIPINK - like your names too. Hope you are enjoying your hols.

We like the name Logan too but have had our names decided upon for ages now - in fact I call my bump Calvin/Poppy! Was the same when pg with DD used to call the bump Harley/Amber. My first choice would have been Saffron but DH vitoed it, then Scarlet but he vitoed that too .

POLENDRA - glad to hear your anti-E is stable.

DISNEY - hope all went well today.

Poor Monkey hasn't been back on - I hope it doesn't mean it was bad news. I have done a search to see if she has been on MN at all but nothing sicne her last post

Anyway must go wake up DD from her nap or she'll be up all night!

BAD BACK PEOPLE - try to sit on your gym ball as much as possible as it stabilises the core muscles - around the belly, the pelvics, the lower back - it tightens up all the wee muscle fibres that attach the large muscle groups. You might not feel it is doing much but it really is. Use it to watch TV or play/read to your DC.

Take care all

taff taff - We are also toying with Edward. Not sure either, but don't know why. Why are you not sure about it?

RUMPEL · 28/03/2008 15:35

Sorry PC froze!

EEC · 28/03/2008 15:36

started leaking colostrum today!! Isn't this a bit early?

tafftaff · 28/03/2008 15:53

EEC - decided before we were ttc that we both liked the name Edward because the shortened versions were nice too, e.g., Ed, Eddie, Teddy (Ted at a push) but now the hormones have kicked in Edward just sounds quite harsh. Still really like it but not as much as James!

Rumpel - I LOVE the name Scarlet. Totally got a massive NO from DP!

I think there is a movie theme tied to my chosen names, e.g., Grace Kelly (nothing to do with Mika), James Bond (like saying 'Morning James' whilst thinking I am a Bond girl), Scarlet O'hara. I would love to have Audrey but brings images of Miss Pop-off (sp?) from Rent-a-Ghost!

Can't help much on the colostrum as new to this birthing malarkey. Am sure it is perfectly normal though!

Libra1975 · 28/03/2008 16:14

thank you for all your hellos

Libralady, I dont' even have one child yet but I have ALREADY informed my husband that he is not getting a second until we
can survive on one income as there is no way I could cope with a child, a full time job AND pregnancy. 2 out of the 3 is currently bad enough. So if you need
to moan occasionally go ahead. Hope you get some rest this weekend.

Kaz1967, lol I had the same but with clemintines and now I am craving raw carrots (I don't like carrots)

JODIEhavingababy make the most of being able to go out whilst you still can! That's my excuse.

Babynames are really difficult! We are decided on a boys (Alexander Philip) but not on a girls. Am liking the Grace and Abigal suggestion, am sure DH will say no as he has said no to my other 50 girl name suggestions (without coming up with ONE of his own!)

isaidno · 28/03/2008 17:00

Had some more baby name discussion today; DH came up with Natasha and Eloise. I'm not sure about either.

I have blu tacked a piece of paper to the kitchen wall and written all the possibles on it (plus "blob" which was DS2's choice.) I'm sure they will all be crossed off within a week or two!

Our surname is Harvey so alot of names I like have 2 syllables and end in y so don't sound right. I don't like stupid made up names / names chosen just to be original (sorry anyone who does!)

So far I have a James Paul and an Anthony Peter. Minipink - I think you are a little bit mad with all those long names!!

sweetkitty · 28/03/2008 17:25

Jodie - thank you I had never heard of Talia either before we named her but apparently there is an actress called Talia Shire who was Mrs Rocky and was in the Godfather (DPs fave films) and when he said it, it just clicked, apparently it is Hebrew and means Dew from Heaven it's so difficult trying to find a unique name you both like and suits your surname.

Other names I like are Millie (would have rhymed with Millipede so out), Caitlin, Ella, Olivia, Elodie (DP hated this but I liked it), Molly, I really like Grace too but on it's own doesn't go with surname but I think it's nice after Bethany.

bebejones - Phoebe is lovely and DH will learn how to spell it, there was a Phoebe on DD2's postnatal thread too.

mummypig - I feel the same about boys names as this is my last pregnancy too, also it's hard coming up with another name you like I didn't want to give DD3 a DD1 or DD2 reject name IYSWIM but I think we may just have got her name sussed. My friend was most upset I wouldn't tell her today!

Rumpel - love Poppy as well (this is so exciting us all coming up with names), I sit on my gym ball as often as I can. This pelvic thing is such a pain (literally) I know and it's hard knowing it's got to get worse to get better. This is my 4th pregnancy in as many years so taking a toll on me too.

EEC - I have been leaking colostrum for about 2 weeks now as well, well just a little when I give my boobs a squeeze. The DDs are fascinated with them right now, they like to have a look at the bump then at my boobs especially the bumps, I tell them thats to help the baby get milk. Last time those little glands would actually leak too when I was having a let down.

Orange/fruit craving people - apparently according to old wives oranges and fruit in general is a classic sign of a girl baby. Sweet things is girls, sour and protein is a boy. Has been true 3 times for me but maybe I just have a sweet tooth.

sweetkitty · 28/03/2008 17:26

sorry libra - like Alexander as well

EEC · 28/03/2008 17:54

Isaidno - I eally like Eloise but DH said no. Why is it so hard to agree?

Going out tonight for the first time in ages. Taking DC's with us so it won't be a late one, and I am really looking forward to it. Just local pub but still. I even put some makeup on and don't recognise myself. DH will have a shock. Have felt like a sack of potatoes for such a long time. (well, I still do, but a painted sack tonight!)

twinkle1 · 28/03/2008 17:55

Evening all,
All this name talk has had me thinking with three dc already and now twins its hard!!! two names at once for a boy we like thomas and euan and for a girl amy grace and emma.
I feel soooo huge at the min, yesterday both the babys got hiccups at the same time what a weird sensation that was!!!!!!!!!
right must go as the kids have swimming soon
twinkle

Minkus · 28/03/2008 18:13

EEC yes I'm leaking colostrum too- didn't with ds so it was a bit of a shock when I woke up to find a big yellow patch on my v shaped pillow!

Other names we've been thinking of are:

Isla
Lisette
Pippa
Nina
Laurel
Summer
Edie
Beatrice
Nell
Roberta

Jake
Oliver
C larke
Barnaby
Sebastian
Louis

Don't forget ladies that we have up to a year after the birth to change our minds- they let you alter the name without doing it by deed poll for 12 months after the baby arrives! Wonder if anyone ever does it.

OP posts:
isaidno · 28/03/2008 18:42

Grace is a nice name but I can't help worrying she would possibly turn out to be a clumsy heffalump!

minipinkscottish · 28/03/2008 18:47

I didn't know you could change the name....

EEC - I have been leaking for weeks and weeks - I didn't leak at all with other 5 - maybe it's because I was bf almost up till I was pg this time - my body just in the zone

I bought 2 stage 1 Adiri bottles yesterday. They are supposed to be the closest yet to breast.....they look exactly like a boob and they are made from a strange material that does really feel like skin....I bf last ds for 20 mths and he didn't sleep for first 9 mths and he refused every kind of bottle I offered and so I got no rest...I spent a fortune
This time getting ready early and will try to do a bit of both from the start. Try anyway although I am not very good at not geeding the LO when they want...

sweetkitty · 28/03/2008 20:20

minipink - will check out those bottles, with DD1 she was jaundiced and wouldn't latch so I had to express for her from the start so she was used to bottles so I kept it up with 2 or 3 a week of EBM, DD2 I think would have had milk from a dirty old bucket, gave her her first bottle at about 3 weeks. Do you have a pump? I would recommend the Medula mini electic pump, I will be using it again.

disneystar · 28/03/2008 21:42

hi all, well the babys heart scan went well no major probs detected which i am very happy about,
we chose our name already and this lo is going to be called samuel,
grace seems to be a very popular name i love it, it was my daughters name.

libralady · 28/03/2008 22:11

disneystar congrtulations on the good news.
Fab choice on Samuel. It's DS's name so I am biased.
