myjobismum - jsut want to stya in bed but keep getting headaches!! i made croquet potatoes with lamb chops nad gravy as really fancied it but once it was on my plate i felt ill! so baby had the potatoes and my dog had the chops then later i bought a ready cooked roast chicken frim Tescos and ate a leg and the skin and gave the rest to baby, dog and one of the cats!! so the animals are well fed today and all i can manage is crisps!!! not good!!

Evening all. I feel crap today. To go with my sinus headache I now have a barking cough and have felt sick most of the day, as well as being very tired (dd up lots during the night). Not sure if the sickness is morning sickness finally arriving, or if it's a bug (bearing in mind that dd threw up on Thursday). Time will tell I guess.

Went out for lunch with the in-laws today, but food was pretty crap, which was a shame.

Did the other mums have a better Mother's Day?

bethoo · 02/03/2008 21:25

myjobismum - yes i am 9 weeks tomorrow so only a week to go til i will hear the heartbeat (hopefully). then if i can hear it i will register with mw as did not wnat me to register until i am 10 weeks.

bethoo can you hear the heart beat through a doppler at 10 weeks ?????

my friend gave me one that straps to your bump then you and your partner can listen through ear phones but she forgot to say when i could start using it .

does anyone know??????

i would be afraid to put it on incase i did not hear anything it would really worry me

bethoo · 03/03/2008 09:20

sambrands- yes you can hear the heart beat at 10 weeks with a doppler but if yo do not do not panic as it depends where the baby is lying etc, you have to search really low down near your fanjo(TMI i know!! )iykwim, low in the pelvis. you will hear a swooshing sound whihc is the placenta then a little noise like galloping horses (that is what i was told!). it will take some time to find it as the heart is about the size of a peanut i think. as you get used ot it and the pregnancy developes it is easier to find. i got a doppler wiht my last pregnancy as i was paraniod about another mm/c. but do not fret if you cannot find it straight away ok?

SARAHandTINY · 03/03/2008 09:26

Hi that's exciting being able to hear the heartbeat, can't wait til i'm at that stage. A little way to go tho being only 7 and half weeks at present...

Just wondering if anyone else got brown discharge early in preg? I got a bit at about 5 weeks but then it stopped. Then yesterday we did some BD and got some more brown stained discharge a few hours later. No red, fortunately. Slightly concerned although no cramps and all clear this morning. Is it safe to BD in early preg? Anyone else experienced this too?

daisyj · 03/03/2008 09:32

Bethoo, my cat would like to come and live with you. He is a very greedy, fat ex-stray, and he thinks you might be nicer than us, as we keep him on a strict diet!

sambrads · 03/03/2008 10:08

i will maybe try later on and see what i can hear

not sure about the bleeding sarahandtiny as i have never had any but there is no problem beding in pregnancy just maybe dont go to hard

Hiya I know what you mean. Waiting is frustrating. That's the worst thing about early preg I think now. Waiting for AF, then waiting for preg test pos. Waiting to tell people. Then waiting for doc appt then a few more weeks for midwife appt. Everything goes so slowly! And then if you start spotting you wonder if you can still be excited coz it may or may not all turn out ok in the end...

Sorry you feel so rough Knickers. I'm just shattered & don't feel like working at all. Slept for 2 hours solid on Saturday afternoon...yawn!

no i think you should be fine just seeing midwife unless any other medical probs, i had other reasons to see the doc too :-)

gimmeapeanut · 03/03/2008 11:05

hi all, just caught up on the thread. so very sorry to hear your sad news, julezboo.

i hope all of the mums here had a wonderful mothers day yesterday!

9wks+1 today...feeling constantly nauseousnot to the point of being sick, thank goodness, but enough to make me want to make noises like "uuugggghhh", all day. really thirsty too, so lugging a 2L bottle of water around w/ me. trying to keep a little bit of food in my stomach at all times. but would that be anything healthy? nooooi'm craving pizza!!!

had the 8wk scan on friday and all's well. saw the LO's gorgeous heartbeat and they gave me pics and a DVD of the whole thing! i was so thrilled...

i've been too afraid to try to bd since my BFP and i've gotten dh a bit scared as well, oops but i figure next week would be a good time to get back in the saddle again , when i've reached the 10 wk point.

SARAHandTINY · 03/03/2008 11:28

Hiya yeah I think my dh will now be a bit reluctant to bd again until we have our scan! Will be nice to have a bit of reassurance. Where do you live that does 8 week scans? that's quite nice, we don't get one til about 11 or 12 weeks (at least) unless there's a prob.

sambrads · 03/03/2008 11:30

i could not cope not bedding as me and dh were doing it every other day and to go to noting would kill me and dh

i tried using the doppler thing i could hear lots of things but not sure if it was the heart beat or not .
i thought i would be so worried but im actually alright

gimmeapeanut · 03/03/2008 11:43

we're in central london--the reason we had the early scans was b/c we had a few health complications leading up to the pregnancy. fortunately all is well now and is going to plan fingers crossed!

ronshar · 03/03/2008 11:53

9 weeks to day, 9 weeks today yipeee.
Sorry every new day means more hope for me.
I dragged my new doppler out of its pack this morning. No battery, bugger. That is probably a good thing as it is a little too early to use it now and so I shall have to go to get a battery. When I eventually remember it will be 10weeks and then it will all work out lovely
I hope everyone elses diet of crisps and chips is as enjoyable as mine.

perkypopsy · 03/03/2008 12:16

ronny can I come down and visit when we are both 10 weeks and have a play with the doppler??? - we can eat salty carby snax and poke your bump

perkypopsy · 03/03/2008 12:17

p.s. HAPPY 9 WEEKS
the time is moving isn't it thank the lord!

sambrads · 03/03/2008 12:24

i am 10 weeks on wednesday ronshar and i used my friends doppler device that you strap round your belly and plug in ear phones i heard some noises but not sure if it was a heart beat or not sort of wish i never hooked it up now

PrePG · 03/03/2008 12:56

Happy 9 weeks, ronshar! My 9 week mark was Saturday - it feels so nice!

We're visiting my family in New York this weekend and I can't wait!!!! My parents already know (couldn't possibly keep it from my mother and caved at just 5 weeks! ) but we'll be telling my brother and family, aunts and uncles and their families and nan. I'll be 10 weeks and to be honest, if anything were to go wrong, these are the people I'd turn to for support anyway.

Waiting until after our scan at 11w5d to tell DH's family - funny how that works, isn't it? Although we did tell his twin brother and his wife as we needed someone to confide in/ask advice of over here. It was their son's first birthday party this weekend and all the family were there. It was so hard to keep quiet!!! But we did get to slyly check out some strollers that some of the smaller guests came in! . I'm becoming more and more convinced by the Micralite Toro....

PrePG · 03/03/2008 12:58

Oh, and I read somewhere that around 17 weeks or so, DH should be able to hear the baby's heartbeat through a paper towel tube thingy!!!!
