Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

myjobismum - I think i'm just anxious and thinking too much! (hope so anyway).

Its not even very busy at work so giving me more time to think and google! what am i like??

ronshar · 02/04/2008 14:16

Just back from scan. All ok I am now measuring 13+5! So this little one is growing fast.
I had a nuchal scan because I would much rather be able to gather any knowledge I needed before finding out at the birth. I would want my other children prepared for a baby which could be different! IYSWIM.
Also the nuchal scan gives you much longer to lay down and gaze at your little baby as it wiggles about and has a load of fun while the sonographer tries to get it to sit still. So from a purely selfish point of view go for the longer scan.

I am sitting down with my trousers open. Ok until I stand up and they fall down

Lozza70 · 02/04/2008 14:18

Had my scan and NT test this morning. Took 2 tries and half an hour to get the NT measurement as Dancer, as the bean is now called, was doing the twist so the sonographer was having no end of trouble. I had to go for a 15 min walk in the middle of the whole thing and eat something sweet. Not sure how something sweet was going to make Dancer settle down Anyway after all of this parlava we got a wave and a few high kicks and managed to get the NT measurements. I'm beside myself I'm so excited. After 3 M/C's this it is just wonderful to get to this stage.

Telling DH's family on Friday night which he is really looking forward to but waiting until the end of the month to tell my Mum and Dad. Only because they are out of the country at the moment and we want to tell them face to face, and we have to go home to N Ireland to see them.

Sorry for the stream of consiousness but very, very excited

ronshar · 02/04/2008 14:21

Hey Lozza I had to do a very nice little bed dance. Bum in the air hips all over the place!! Very ungraceful. It did the trick mind you.
Little monkeys sent to try from the beginning. But I love it already.

Lozza70 · 02/04/2008 14:34

I know that bed dance Ronshar Lots of hip wiggling. DH thought the whole thing was very amusing!

accessorizequeen · 02/04/2008 15:02

Good to hear of all the positive scans etc Have just got my appt, not until the 22nd when I will be 16 weeks. I"m quite angry really as when I rang they said they saw everyone before 14 and I"m 13 now. I'm not anxious particularly, but I would like to have some confirmation by heartbeat or scan or anything that the baby is ok. Not seeing m/w for booking in until 18 weeks. I could go and see my gp but she can't do anything so what's the point.

Worth my getting a private scan?

Lozza70 · 02/04/2008 15:57

accessorizequeen depends on how you are feeling. A scan will put your mind at rest, it did with me anyway, but you should get a really good first view of your bean at 16 weeks. I suppose cost will come into it too and how much a private scan will cost you.

It's so bad the rubbish service you have had so far. From what everyone else has said on the thread there is a real variation on services across the country.

perkypopsy · 02/04/2008 16:58

Hi everyone
Good news about the scan - Lozza so chuffed for you - have been crossing everything - you really deserve this one lady!!!
I too did the wiggle for my NT scan (is amazing how much they bounce around!)- I paid last friday and was best 100 i have ever spent - i wanted to know was alive more than NT to be honest. Got the phonce call today to say is low risk but not looking up stats cos I don't want to know anymore than that - if that makes sense

I met a colleague today who is 3 weeks ahead of me and is MAHOOSIVE - cannot believe that will be me???
I have DP black cords on today which a friend gave me - they are comfy and smart but attract white fluff and cat hair oops - have noticed colleagues staring at my tummy now so can't wait to get the REVEAL out of the way and know a bit more about my financial future - roll on Friday!

bethoo love your pics - your son looks so cute!

Lozza70 · 02/04/2008 17:12

Thanks perkypopsy. I've been thinking about getting some maternity clothes now as current jeans are getting a bit uncomfortable. Lots of advice on the thread about ones from Next so am going to look there first.

I'm getting a bit paranoid about collegues looking at my expanding tummy and I think I will have to tell relatively soon. My director and boss know but I'm a bit unsure as to when to tell work offically (HR) as I am transferring to a new job in the company in 3 weeks. Not sure what people will think as it's a high profile new role and I will be leaving in about 6 months

perkypopsy · 02/04/2008 17:24

Loz phew nice to hear someone else is going thru the same. I was supposed to be seconded to my current role as a centre manager for a year to cover maternity leave but ended up handing in my notice as I hated my previous job and boss. I am seeing out my LONG 4 month notice period in the new role and am supposed to be meeting new boss on Friday to sort out staying in post - if that happebned I'd still qualify for ML as there would be continuous service within the institution...however he has been so good to me I can't get him to sort out a new contract for me without telling him the truth as he's have 2 people on ML for the same post and he has no money arghhhh the hell of having a conscience...to be fair by the time HR getsround to advertising a post for me and interviewing etc - I'd need to tell anyway. Everyone here is so nice and I am having all these conversations about the future and what we'll be doing and it is so hard because I'll be gone in 5.5 months max - feels like one of those impossible situations arghhhh - and I just want to be deliriously happy that I finally have a baby on the way

have been following, but forgot to post b4 - bethoo, I hope things with your dp are better, how stressful for you! And CSWS, whole episode sounds v.stressful too, did you say you had to try again?

Thanks for advice re: scan, I'm going to ring them tomorrow and see what the deal is, they must know how far along I am but perhaps if I point it out they'll give me an earlier one. Off to scotland for a wedding long w/end, have just developed conjunctivitis and bronchitis and not packed a thing!

hedgepig · 02/04/2008 19:50

great news about everyones scans.
Perky work stuff always seems complicated but it will works its self out in the end (maybe in ways you don't envisage but it will be OK).

I am going to speak at HR tomorrow (my boss knows but no one else) but I feel really weird and I don't want anyone else to know I just don't want to be the focus of gossip (will she won't she come back to work etc) with my 1st pg I couldn't wait to tell people and ran around the office with my scan pictures! I don't know what is up with me!

coolkat · 02/04/2008 19:59

Hi Ladies

I was wondering if I could join you. I am 11 weks tomorrow and my due date is 23rd October. I have one daughter who is 5.

So far I have been feeling really poorly but most of this has been down to a virus that has lasted for 3 weeks. I have been feeling very negative as obviously associate the whole thing with being pregnant. I have been of work for nearly 4 weeks (2 as holiday 2 sick) and a dreading going back on Monday.

I feel like my tummy had expanded already and it certainly had not been through eating my appetite'e left the building!

I saw some of you had got some bargains in the Next sale so logged on and got my mum to order them for when its time! - Don't want to jinx before my scan next thursday.

Sorry for the long me post, I hope to talk with you throughout the next long months!

All the half price maternity stuff in a 12!! 1 pair cream jeans, 1 pair combats, 3 pairs of crops and a dress! Going on holiday at the end of may and do not know if I will be big enough for them or not?

I did not think they would all be in stock but I can send back what I do not want / need!!
Thanks for the welcome, DH at work so I am going to bed to chill with a mag. x

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/04/2008 20:30

Welcome coolkat .

Fab news on all the scans ladies.

aq - not sure yet whether they'll want me to try again with gtt - will wait until I see midwife and see what she thinks.
twinkly - yes, hands are brown/black/blue, but arm inside elbow hasn't bruised.

Feeling much better today thankfully.

Rowanmac - yes, I'm confused! Will put you on stats for 21st for now, as that's what scan said, but we can move you if next scan says differently.

cripes that list is long CSWS. Glad you are getting better. My frustration with maternity clothes is I have some up the loft but I need DH to go up the ladder, I'm scared of heights at the best time and wobbling at the top a ladder is not the best Idea when you are pg. Its 5 yrs since I last saw them so I can't remember what I have.
CSWS I am also at the larger end of the size spectrum and I have seen that Next and Dorothy Perkins ( both on line) go up to a size 22 if that will help?

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/04/2008 21:03

Depends how generous their sizing is hedgepig - my boobs and hips tend to take me up to a good 24 in most brands. Thanks though .

hedgepig · 02/04/2008 21:14

I'm OK on the bottom in a 18(ish) but tops the same as you, last time I didn't need maternity tops cos my bump never caught up with my boobs

twinklytoes · 02/04/2008 22:06

i've bowed to popular demand and visited the next site.

i've ordered the purple maxi dress and the black and purple dress. not sure if they'll be suitable for the garden party but at £12 a piece it hasn't broken the bank.
