Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

CSWS hope you are feeling better now. That sounds pretty horrific. Are you usually quite hard to get blood out of? I remember last time the MW had to have 3 attempts and I had awful bruises for ages!
Well I ended up phoning the antenatal clinic yesterday and they hadn't received the referral letter from my GP. They said it would be in the Drs intray and could take weeks to surface! So I phoned GP back and got them to fax letter through. Who knows when my scan date is going to come through?
I too am feeling better - maybe the whole pack of Jaffa cakes I just ate . Glad most others are starting to feel human again and hope others won't be far behind.
Bethoo I hope you sort things out with DP in a way that suits you and DS.

bethoo · 01/04/2008 15:57

myjobismum - yes it is the chicco one, i got it as it is reasonably priced and it has a big material basket undrneath which keeps his toys and bibs in so extra storage! easy to clean though i could not figure how to put the tray on, my friend did it for me. apart from that it is ace. the tray can move forward once baby gets bigger and the seat reclines too. check me out!!

loulou33 · 01/04/2008 16:29

Myjob - there is no shame is telling the world about comfy maternity clothes - i am thinking of buying another pair if i can find them (how sad is that??) Were they in the sale last weekend?? Hope not. Sorry to everyone else for rambling about trousers but its soooooo important to me to be comfy!!!

Off to the next website to see if i can find some more.........

In case you hadn't noticed, i am work avoidant to day - have a horrible task to do and scheduled it for today but i have barely started it and have done loads of other jobs instead!! best go home now i think....

bethoo · 01/04/2008 16:52

just added pic of scan, hope you can make it out as i had to take a pic of the scan with my camera as my phone for some reason is not transfering to my pc. you can see his little hands next to his head. when i sent it in a text i asked if everyone could see him and i got lots of texts back saying is it a boy??? wishful thinking!

rosebury · 01/04/2008 17:28

csws oh my goodness what an awful time youve had so sorry you must be feeling like SH.T put your feet up for a while.

Totally agree with you myjob.

Can we olease clarify the Next maternity situation I have been told by a member of staff that they are no longer stocking clothes in the shops this was in a large store in Bristol does anyone know different.

fanvampbooks · 01/04/2008 19:09

Rosebury The Next stores seem to no longer sell the maternity clothes in their stores; only through the Next Directory! Don't know why, but they have some nice stuff & it's usually very easy to order online & get it sent for free to your nearest store for pickup. You can also return any unwanted items to the store for free as well. As you can tell, I use the service a lot!

kookiegoddess · 01/04/2008 19:49

great to hear that I'm not the only one struggling with the button on my jeans... Just come back from hols and splashed out on a very comfy but v spenny outfit from Formes. They have nice stuff if you need to dress up a bit.

Just to say I've had my scan today (13 weeks and 1 day) and FINALLY saw little baby - it was practically dancing in my womb it was moving so much! some kind of funky robotic moves with its arms... MASSSIVE relief to know that it's ok, was irrationally worried that I'd spent weeks feeling like poo all for nothiing... Fingers crossed for everyone else who has scans coming up. x

Thanks for the sympathies ladies. Am still feeling pretty crap, but desperately trying to find things that I can bear to face eating.

Smudgey - not usually hard to get blood out of no. Nurse at village surgery has never had any problem at all. Today's guy tried inside of elbow first, had a look at inside of other elbow but didn't fancy his chances, did back of one hand (during which I passed out so he had to stop), and then back of the other hand. There'd have been nowhere left to prick if he'd actually got to do the follow up test!

Congrats on your scan kookie, and hope your holiday was good.

rowanmac · 01/04/2008 21:06

hi all, good to catch, feeling calmer knowing the same things are happening all over the country.

In answer to the when am I due question. Dates say 2nd October ie same as DS whose birthday is 10th September. I feel about 12 weeks judging by intensity of vomiting having subsided so approx 14th october but original scan says 21st October but that would have me with pos PT and nausea at 3 1/2 weeks. Confused yet?

Advice please. I need to move DS from one room to another so want to decorate new room well. New one gets existing nursery as is. He's 2 1/2, a fan of cars and tractors and animals. I'm looking for wall stickers, rugs a bedside lamp, beanbag, curtain material type stuff and am struggling. Tried M&S Next,Vertbaudet, Argos...and live 150miles from Ikea. Anybody know any good websites for this sort of stuff?

twinklytoes · 01/04/2008 21:10

sorry to hear you're unwell CSWS, are you covered in bruises too?

I want to join the Next gang too! those jeans sound nice and comfy, unfortunately they won't sell them with a 36in inside leg.

I'm going to need all your help soon on the posh mat clothing - have been invited to the Queen's July garden party representing my work. goodness knows what i'll be wearing.

twinklytoes · 01/04/2008 21:14

rowan - have you tried ebay? if you shop around you'll pick up ikea stuff for more or less shop price.

did you not like the ranges from next etc? verbaudet did a lovely animal set last year?

Hi everyone. Saw wee bean again today at the nt scan. All seemed well. Nuchal fold of 1.6, the blood results and a clearly visble nasal bone all together gave me a 1 in 7500 probability.

Everyone is different and deciding to do these screening tests is a personal choice. For me, it allows me to be sane for the next 6 months. But that is just who I am! A wee bit on the anxious and nervy side I have to confess. So jambers - you know yourself better than anyone and you do whatever you need to do!

Very jealous of everyone treating themselves to nice new mat clothes. Will have to get down to the shops soon. Cribbs now has mat clothes in the Top Shop and the H&M my fellow Brizzlers!

rowanmac · 01/04/2008 21:29

Yes had forgotten ebay, got the pram there last time, scan in 2 weeks time so a further 2 weeks of confusion while I look at lots of things but don't buy anything yet.

I've picked some M&S mat clothes on ebay - anyone know which stores sell stuff without having to hit Oxford Street?

I'm also a fan of pumpkin patch clothes - got some gorgeous tops last preg.

emkay · 01/04/2008 22:03

Hello all,
Been enjoying reading up on all your news and seem to have been living a very quiet life lately. Up to our elbows in potty training (I'm going to crack before DD does I think!) so there's not much else going on. 12 weeks tomorrow, getting my scan on Thursday, hoping to tell boss on Friday! Really can't wait!
Thinking back to the NT discussions... my sister is Downs Syndrome - now 24 years old. My mum was 39 when she had her and had the tests then that said she was lower than average risk. So the shock was huge and she initially rejected my sister but aged 9 I was well into the idea of a little sister and Dad was keen too so she came around. She has been the most loving, caring and fantastic mum ever since. So even with the hardest of starts I know she wouldn't change a thing. We can't really know what's in store with or without the tests, but our chance to deal with it and come to enjoy it all will last so much longer than the time of the birth. We've each got to do what we know will keep our own minds at rest. I just wanted to add in a bit of a long-term view on it all.
Hoping it gets easier to imagine this little person once I start feeling pregnant and not just sick!
Good luck everyone with all your tests and scans, keep the good news coming!

bethoo · 01/04/2008 22:32

myjobismum - well i would like a boy as i have all the clothes and also it would be nice to have a brother of close age for Hayden so they can keep each other busy so i can get this house in order!!! Thanks, Hayden is nice though becoming more common these days, when i was preggers i went through a name website a-z to pick out meanings but ended up at last minute withe a name that means a hedge!! nevermind! i have already thought of Adam Troy if i have another boy. Haydens middle name is Jay as i love that too!

Rowanmac - have you tried B&Q, there is not a lot but they do stuff like what you are looking for, reasonably priced.

Talking about dressing up i have two weddings this year and was thinking about getting a wrap over dress though one wedding is 2 days before my due date so i may not be able to make it due to in labour or i will have to take up two seats!

i refuse to buy maternity clothes as they are pricey and only wear them for a few months and unless you intend to have a multitude of kiddies i cannot justify the cash. >, i find mothercare clothes are not the most fashionable and hard to find in size 8. i just wore normal low waisted clothes until it was too uncomfortable and wore dance pants as very stretchy!!
