Good luck for tomorrow's scans everyone.

Another beetroot loving household here - dd adores it!

Just found out that a friend we spent the day with a few days ago has come out with slapped cheek/parvovirus, which can be very dangerous in pregnancy, so looks like I'll have to arrange another blood test for this week to check if I'm immune or not. Fingers crossed.

How are the rest of the building plans coming along for those of you who were doing some - I can't remember who was now, but there seemed to be a lot of us? We had bad news this week, as there was one objection (from a miserable git) which sadly has a regulation to support it, so we have to reduce the size of the planned conservatory quite significantly . Should then be no problem getting permission for the rest though, and only a couple of weeks or so til it's granted.

hedgepig · 30/03/2008 11:40

fairy does cleaning the bathroom count as exercise? I did half yesterday and I'm going to do the rest now
seriously I'm doing no exercise what so every but now I'm feeling a bit less sick I'm going to try and walk for 1/2 hr at lunchtime a few times a week.

CSWS you have got much further than me we have talked to an architect but not got any plans done yet. Pity about your extension but at least you can have most of what you want.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 30/03/2008 12:01

Hurrah I have a due date!!!!!

Had a private scan was worth it though - lovely clear image of little bean - showed I was 11weeks 2 days, so due 16th October.

Now I can relax till midwives get round to booking me in etc.I just wanted that first scan over with.

Hope everyone's coping with tiredness, nausea, wierd cravings etc. well. I fancy some sorbet right now

bethoo · 30/03/2008 12:35

thanks Jane7 - good luck to you tomorrow too.
as for exercise - what the hell is that? , i am hoping to invest in a bike so when little man is in bed i can watch telly whilst cycling like a mad woman! my once toned thighs are now hideously wobbly so no skirts for me this summer! but i am sure that once the crisps go i will be fine!

first night last night with no sickness so hoping it has gone though part of me no longer feels preggers since it has gone. roll on tomorrow.

hansnava · 30/03/2008 13:20

rosebury · 30/03/2008 13:42

Afternoon everyone there is always someone on this computer and I am at the back of the queue. good to hear that you are all ok today except you hedgepig you sound so tired and sickly I do hope that it passes soon as this blooming feeling that I now have is fab.

jane7 and bethoo good luck for tomorrow and everyone else who is due to have a scan.

CSWS afraid I do not know much about slapped cheek hope everything will be ok. Can I ask what job did or do you do as you seem to know a lot about most things?

Will be going out soon to enjoy the sunshine when dh has finished watching the motorbike racing if it is still shining by then.

rosebury · 30/03/2008 13:50

Hi hansnava sorry to everyong else but I have also had massive amount of wind hugely bloated and pain as it works its way through dh has to share it every morning. I have been drinking lots of warm water not a cure I think it probably gets better after 12wk mark like everything else.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/03/2008 13:54

I'm just a know it all rosebury!
I was an accountant then finance systems consultant.

I know quite a bit about pregnancy and birth simply because I've been hanging around places like this for so long (began ttc start of 2001)! Only found out about slapped cheek recently though, when a friend who wasn't immune got it during pregnancy, and had to have a lot of monitoring (baby born a couple of weeks ago and is fine).

hansnava · 30/03/2008 13:57

i hope so rosebury. im not enjoying this pg so far. with my first it was almost straight away i felt pg and i only had sore boobs. this time i feel like ive had every syptom know to man lol had too early scans last one a little over a week ago and i still dont feel pg at all. perhaps i need the bump and the movement to start believing it is happening.

hedgepig · 30/03/2008 14:06

Thanks for your good thoughts Rosebury I am feeling a lot better - down to about 1 sick a day from 4-5!
Hansnava I have trapped wind but no constipation. I find a good walk seems to help. But I haven't found any food, drinks that help sorry.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/03/2008 14:14

Oh I missed your mention of constipation hansnava. Had it once this pregnancy so far, and got it badly from about 14 weeks last time.

Drink LOTS of water, make sure you get your 5 a day of fruit and veg, and have prunes with porridge for breakfast. If that still doesn't do the trick, you can take lactulose.

hansnava · 30/03/2008 14:29

thanks hedgepig and csws

csws i would rather live with the wind then have a prune pass my lips lol as too porridge my dp has it every morning and smell makes me feel sick.
thanks for the advice though

hedgepig · 30/03/2008 15:51

yes drink lots of water I forgot about that.

accessorizequeen · 30/03/2008 16:22

Peppermint tea is very helpful i find, as is sparkling mineral water. I think I might have to start drinking prune juice as so constipated it's painful (sorry if tmi!)

tedmundo · 30/03/2008 18:47

hansnava - for trapped wind, I would recommend what is known in our family circle as ... The Ejector Move.

Basically, it is the child pose upside down. Take jeans off as you need to be unrestricted. On your back, bring your knees up to your chest with your hands pulling them back even more. Give it a minute or two, and you will feel some movement of the windy pops - with relief not far behind. Guaranteed success.

GOOD LUCK with scans tomorrow. Mine is Tuesday so will post once I know how that has gone.

rosebury · 30/03/2008 20:48

hansnava you really have no idea what youve started I have just read teds post and am crying with laughter how are you going to explain what you are doing to your dp make sure you let us know if it works but please no pics.

tedmundo · 30/03/2008 21:42

Hmm - maybe that should have been my first instruction... make sure you are ALONE!

sambrads · 31/03/2008 08:46

hey ladies good luck with your scans today and let us know how you get on

hansnava i think it was you saying you dont feel pregnant well i dont either i actually worry all the time but have to keep a clear head

my 22 week scan is 28th may so cant wait but it is a life time away

perkypopsy · 31/03/2008 09:13

Hi everyone I had a private NT scan on Friday and all is good - was such a huge relief to see a live bean in there - am 14 weeks today . Have allowed myself to belive I am going to have a baby in 6 months time YIKES! Bought a new bra and some clothes on Saturday - the tum is getting bigger and harder by the day and nothing is comfy. Am telling boss on Friday - can't wait to have the agony of worrying about what he'll say over with.
Talking of symptoms - mine are defo getting better - still sick in evenings but managed to stay awake til 10pm last night - first time in months!
have a good day everyone

Jambers99 · 31/03/2008 09:17

Morning everyone, good luck to Bethoo, Jane7 and anyone else with scans today.

Great to hear everything is ok and you have a due date Bigmouth. I agree the private scan was well worth it - still no news from the NHS on when the midwife or hospital might deign to see me!

CSWS, I'm part of the loft conversion crowd. We're just getting round to seeing some architects, so some way off even applying for planning permission. We're doing the loft conversion joint with our neighbours - apparently the council don't like pairs of semi detached houses looking lopsided, so we think we have more chance of approval if both of us convert the lofts at once. But haven't told neighbours about pregnancy yet so they don't appreciate the urgency of getting the work underway...

And hansnava, I must confess to the wind and constipation problems (and piles too, how lovely). It's about the only pregnancy symptom I get, and not really one that you can talk about in polite company!

KSal · 31/03/2008 09:32

Hi CSWS my appointment is at 3.40 on the 27th May - maybe we'll bump into each other. Got a bit of a shock for the last scan as it turns out a friend's mum works there! She recognised us, but promised not to tell!

Jane7 · 31/03/2008 10:59

Just back from my scan. All good, so am very relieved. Thanks to everyone who wished me luck. The scan lady had to push and prod for about 15 minutes to get the little thing to roll over so we could measure the nuchal fold. She got really frustrated and starting muttering about what an uncooperative baby it was and I felt very defensive. Maybe the little thing didn't want to roll over. I also found it quite uncomfortable being prodded so much on my tummy - could be wind but something really hurt when she pressed. Anyway, still all good. From bum to head it was 8cm - and I'm 13 weeks two days.
Good luck to Bethoo and Tedmundo and others having scans in the next few days.

hansnava · 31/03/2008 11:03

lol tedmundo i think i may have dislodged some of it from laughing at ur post.

hi sambrands- ur 22 week scan on the 28th flipping heck i havent even got my first scan till the 23rd and i only be just over 14 weeks then.

bethoo · 31/03/2008 13:35

good news - had scan and all ok. so surreal as convinced it was going to be bad. baby was also uncooperative as was moving everywhere so could not get measurements!
pissed off though as been haviing problems with dp, so finally admitted to myself that i really am happier without him, told him i no longer wanted to be with him then he told me to get an abortion and he is now going to claim for custody. so a bit freaked and it has put a downer on everything now.

caramelbunny · 31/03/2008 14:14

Hi all, glad sickness is improving and blooming starting for a lot of you. Also great news about scans. Mine's a week on Wed, really mixed emotions, excited about seeing baby and terrified there will be no heartbeat. Just have to think positive and wait and see.

Had the most terrible week of illness in our house. All had bad cough and cold then dd started vomiting and diarrhoea on Easter Sat for 5 days, followed by dh for next 3 days and just when I thought I'd escaped it floored me yesterday. Finally everyone seems well today so hoping for a better week.

Great news about your scan but sorry about problems with dp bethoo, hope you get things sorted out.
