Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

bethoo, poor you. what a difficult thing to be going through at a time like this, when you want to feeling happy and pregnant. obviously i can't give you much advice since i don't know much about your situation, but just to let you know I'm thinking of you and I''m sure yo'll find the strength to deal with everything.

Bethoo, great news about your scan but sorry to hear about trouble with your partner. Hope you can sort things out amicably, I'm sure you don't need any more stress at the moment.

Congrats to jane7 & perkypopsy too, let's hope all the scans are good news from now on.

Just phoned the hospital and my NHS dating scan is on 11th April, so only 11 days until I see my little bean again.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/03/2008 15:19

What an arse bethoo. Very unlikely that he'll get custody of a breastfed baby though, unless he plans to be the first lactating male .

Great news on all scans though ladies.

KSal - I guess we'll just miss each other on 27th, unless they are running very late on appointments, but if you see a 5ft 7 fat woman with short hair, with a 5ft 8 dark haired dh, then it could be me!

Phoned Doctor about the parvo virus that I was exposed to, and he has issued a form for me to get bloods taken at the hospital tomorrow, as I am going for my GTT then anyway.

Sounds like we are the most advanced with our building plans at the moment then. We are using a single firm who act as architects, deal with the planners, cost the job and organise and manage the builders. Having watched so many episodes of Grand Designs/Property Ladder, we decided we couldn't take the stress of managing it all ourselves!

fanvampbooks · 31/03/2008 16:44

Hi again.

Thanks for the welcome & am sorry to be so slow at replying, but find am not on the computer the way I was the 1st time around. Probably because it was easier to do it at work than at home with a LO .

Hi Bethoo & sorry to hear about your probelms with DP. Hope you can sort things out to your satisfaction. Used to watch Buffy & Angel in the first series, but am mostly a fan of books by people like Lyndsay Sands & the like who do books with vampires, wizards, etc. A lot of Fantasy novels. However, I read a LOT so my name is slightly misleading.

rowanmac · 31/03/2008 16:44

Hello
Would you mind if I joined, due some time in October, large discrepancy between my dates, how i feel and early scan date couple with having last one early means I probably ought to be on the September thread but I'll play by the dates!
I'm with whoever wrote I'm sick and tired sick and tired, the rubbish thing is as soon as I stop feeling sick I burst into tears assuming its another ruddy miscarriage, right up until breakfast reappears and then I'm back to sick and tired. The ultimate indignity of throwing up so much is discovering that the bladder control isn't all you thought it was and that you've peed all over the floor while your head was in the sink or is that just me?
Proper scan in a fortnight. Anxious me.. never let it be said.

loulou33 · 31/03/2008 17:22

Hi all,

14 weeks today - hoorah!!! Definitely feeling less tired and sick. have been wallpapering this weekend and out walking so can tell the energy levels are going up. Have been feeling the baby move for last few weeks, thought at first it was just wind but no, it was babs - cool huh??

Bethoo, what and a*hole - like he's going to get custody, silly prat. Hope it all gets sorted and glad the scan was ok.

must go and make tea rather than reading mumsnet (guilty mother emoticon). DS is talking to self in kitchen telling himself what he's having for dinner and making it at play kitchen, poor starved neglected child!!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/03/2008 18:45

Welcome rowanmac. What date do you think you're due? Do you just have one already?

Apologies to snowymum - don't think I said welcome to you yet either.

bethoo · 31/03/2008 19:15

fanvamp -recommend Trudi Canavan series. she has two trilogies and absolutly fantastic about wizards and stuff.

Bethoo, I am really sorry to hear that - and a bit . You know where to find us if you need to vent!!

And I do find that focussing on the little one does help take your mind off...

Also I had my scan too and all is well - I am now 13+4

bethoo · 31/03/2008 21:37

thanks, i have been venting all day!! this is a guy who has never paid towards his ds, never once offered to have him for the day so i can get housework done/sleep have a day off and now he thinks he can claim custody of a son he rarely sees!
sorry ladies!
anyway good luck to all those ladies who have scans tomorrow and i think it has all been great news for all of us who had scans today. i am going to put one of the scans on my profile. i got about 10 pics! they are getting generous!

Jambers99 · 01/04/2008 11:15

Morning ladies, I need your advice....

I called the hospital today to chase up my booking in appointment, and am going in on Friday. On the phone they said I will be offered a nuchal scan since I am over 35 - this was a surprise to me since I thought my NHS trust didn't do them. I had always thought that I wouldn't bother with the nuchal scan since I wouldn't terminate the pregnancy whatever the results, and it would be daft to pay £150 for a test whose results I would ignore. But now that I'm being offered one for free, should I have it for peace of mind? Or would it just worry me too much if the results weren't favourable? What have the rest of you done?

rosebury · 01/04/2008 11:27

Morning ladies looks like I am first on today feeling great have been shopping a lot the past few days bump very big maternity clothes are hard to find around here new look and dot perkins appear to be fashionable and good value cannot believe that next no longer display maternity wear in shops only available in directory or online.

Great to hear all the good news about scans we really are all moving into a more positive phase I do not want to wish the time away i want to enjoy every day feeling proud of my bump. Just to be even more sickeningly positive Iv had my hair done nails eye brows and lashes and bought new creams for pampering myself.

good luck everyone.

sambrads · 01/04/2008 11:52

hi ya jambers i would probabl get the scan done as its a good chance to see your baby .

as you said you have already made up your mind that you would not terminate the preganacy even if it said there was something wrong so go for it chances are there is probably nothing wrong and how good will that feel when they tell you that

if the worst comes to the worst then you will have time to prepare yourself for what lies ahead .

i think we all think the worst when it comes to pregnancy so go on girl and think positive and see your wee baby

rosebury · 01/04/2008 11:52

Morning jambers I felt the smae as you so I had the scan without that test I did agree that if they saw something obvious eg large swelling of fluid at the back of the neck then I would need to know but something that was only an approx quess whieh moves a number 1 in 10 or 1 in 2000 whatever if you are not prepared to have further tests eg blood test or amnio only you can decide if the test will be helpful to you. I know two couples who had very good scores on their tests so thought that all was well and went on to have babies with downs which was more devastating for them to cope with because they believed all was well.

It is a very personal choice for each of us to make I am not at all worried and will be happy to have my baby disabled or not we do not live in a perfect world

loulou33 · 01/04/2008 12:59

Hiya,

it depends on what you will do with info Jambers, ie further tests to confirm or not. my friend's bllod test came back high for down's (in fact she was showing just under the cut-off ratio for downs ie if cut-off was 1 in 150 say, hers was 1 in 140) She had amnio and all was fine. Some people find knowing about downs earlier makes it 'easier' to come to terms with diagnosis when baby arrives. Personally, i would like the nt scan (not offered here and 200 mile trip to get one) as i would have to think hard about what to do if baby had downs, but very personal decision.

loulou33 · 01/04/2008 13:00

Ooh myjob - think i have those jeans from Next - very comfy, have been wearing them for past 3 weeks!!! They will be very worn out by the end...

Hi there,
sorry to bump into the October thread ..although im in the December thread but i just wanna say to Sambrads that 'IM PREGNANT'
thanks for helping me in the clomid thread sambrads goodluck with your pregnancy !

Jambers99 · 01/04/2008 14:27

Thanks all for your advice. I basically have a choice between dating scan and nuchal scan, so I get to see the baby whatever. My inclination is not to have the nuchal since, as some people have said, the test is quite unreliable and can give you false worry or false confidence. I wouldn't have amnio due to the risk of miscarriage - it's so bloomin' hard for me to get pregnant that I'm not going to risk it! Will keep mulling it over though, as I have until Friday to decide, so if anyone else has any advice or words or wisdom then let me know.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/04/2008 14:30

Afternoon ladies. Am feeling pitiful today. Went to the hospital for my GTT, had a phlebotomist who struggled to get any blood, and on his second attempt I passed out, and have since thrown up 9 or 10 times . Unfortunately as I threw up the glucose drink, they had to abandon the GTT, but they did manage to get the blood for the parvovirus test. Was in no state to drive back (in fact threw up and retched so much on the way home that I also wet myself ), but the car seat was in my car with me, so had to get dh to find someone who could pick up dd and look after her, whilst our builder brought him to the hospital to pick me and the car up.

Feeling a bit brighter after a couple of hours' sleep, so have just managed to drink some water and have some plain biscuits.

Jambers - what would you do with the information you would get from a nuchal scan. Try and imagine you have just had a result of 1:30 - would you go ahead with amnio? If not, then I would say don't bother with it (and I have refused all downs' testing in both pregnancies). Lots of people decide to have it 'just for reassurance', but are then totally flumoxxed when the result doesn't give them the reassurance they wanted.

Maternity clothes not easy to come by here, as the standard stores don't stock in large enough sizes. Hoping to get away with just loose stretchy normal clothes, in bigger sizes if necessary.
