Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

bigmouth - can you not call direct to hospital and explain that you have not yet been booked in though you suspect you are 12 weeks (fib a little) then mention hte bleed. you should get a scan.

MrsBish · 27/03/2008 10:23

I had my scan yesterday and all is OK. I had been convincing myself that I wasn't really pregnant at all and that the sonographer wouldn't find anything and ask me what on earth I was doing there!! I was quite suprised to see a little baby wriggling around!!

Next scan is 29th May. Due date changed to 2nd Oct.

Hope the rest of you are doing OK.

DS will be 2y 4mts when baby arrives. We tell him that Pip is in mummy's tummy - but he really hasn't got a clue. There's a good book to read to them, which I'll probably get over the summer.

Jambers99 · 27/03/2008 10:42

Congratulations to all of you with happy scan results, must be so lovely to see your little one on the screen!

Bigmouth, I do sympathise. I'm coming up to 10 weeks preg, but haven't seen midwife for booking in or had a date for my first scan. No blood tests yet either, which worries me a bit as I got quite anaemic last time and had to take lots of iron supplements. Only thing keeping me sane is that I've booked a private scan for tomorrow. I agree that you should demand a scan since you've had a bit of bleeding, though hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

bethoo · 27/03/2008 10:43

Jambers- have you contacted your medical centre to register with the mw? if so time to start ringing to ask when it is.

Jambers99 · 27/03/2008 11:53

It's hard to know what's supposed to happen as every NHS trust does things differently.

I saw the GP two weeks ago, and he is supposed to send the referral form to the hospital which in theory kicks off midwife visits etc. I did phone them last week and they said they'd write with a scan date, but will call again on Monday if I still haven't heard.

accessorizequeen · 27/03/2008 12:28

Lozza, I do hope this little one sticks for you, so hard having 3 mc's in a row.
I'm 12 weeks, no scan date, no mw date. I rang the hosp yesterday and they said I'd get a scan b4 14 weeks, so waiting for a letter. Took the GP's office 3 weeks to send a letter to the hospital, how cr&p is that?
God, the tiredness, when does it end??? Relieved to hear I'm not the only one as starting to think I must be putting it on or something.
Re: telling toddler, make as little a deal as possible about it (this was what my pediatrician father advised). I did get Miffy and the new baby which went down quite well. TBH, she just won't get it until the baby's there (same age gap with ds1/ds2).
Did someone ask about getting dh to understand about the tiredness? I know this sounds a bit odd, but dp got sooo sick of me complaining he lost all sympathy for me. Once I stopped saying how tired I was (whilst still looking it, and going to bed early etc) he was much better.

12 weeks today, woohoo!! Feels like such a milestone for me. I have my first proper scan next Wednesday morning and having bloods etc done. I actually got the letter with my 20 weeks scan before I was contacted by the MW or had the date for the scan next week which was a bit odd I thought

I cannot believe some of you do not have scan dates yet. I'd be tempted to be a bit of a pain and put the pressure on my doctor to sort it out.

moodywren · 27/03/2008 13:04

I am so fed up, phoned mw this morning as I am now 11 weeks and not got a scan date yet. She phoned hospital who said they have no record of me, so she phoned GP who said they wrote to the hospital in February so someone somewhere has lost all my details and although GP are faxing letter to the hospital now they are running very behind with scans so who knows when it'll be.

Mw said at least a week before I even get a letter through.

I feel like I'm in limbo, in my last pregnancy I had a threatened miscarriage at 10 weeks so am desperate for this scan to know that everything is okay.

Anybody how I can get a basic 2d scan privately in Lincolnshire just to know everythings ok. The only private scans I can find are 3d/4d I don't want to pay out for one of those when its too early to see much.

MOODYWREN - Try above link for a private scanning co. I have been looking into this as like you I am looking unlikely to get an appt before week 13

I don't know whether they have a branch close enough to you but there are other companies and those that do 3 and 4d scans do generally offer a range of services - you are unlikely to get change out of £100 though.

Very glad to hear others a having a better level of service though and so many promising scan results.

sorry this is the right link

loulou33 · 27/03/2008 15:29

Hi all,

Yes still here and still preggers.

Sorry so many of you are frustrated at lack of scans etc. I have to say my scan was earlier than last time (9 weeks rather than 12) and it was a bit disappointing (sorry bean!!) Although it was reassuring that all was ok, my scan picture shows a cauliflower!! Last time, ds looked like a 'proper baby' in his. Sorry i shouldn't moan but there are some advantages to having slightly later scans at 12 weeks. However, i don't think you should have to wait at all if you have had a bleed/previous mc and certainly shouldn't wait longer than 13 weeks anyway!!!

Emkay - my ds is 2 1/4 and i told him at the weekend. He's a bit clumsy and keeps elbowing me in the stomach etc. I thought i would tell him rather than keep nagging him to stop poking me. i also need to tell his nursery so its only fair that he knows first. He was very cute and said hello to the baby and has been nursing his dolly this week. He hasn't mentioned the baby since mind you but that's toddlers for you!!

loulou33 · 27/03/2008 15:32

Oh my god - there's a december 08 thread now - we're getting closer and closer......[large gulp]

perkypopsy · 27/03/2008 16:47

Does anyone know where I could get a nuchal scan in Hertfordshire? I get nothing until week 20 (bloods at week 16 i think). To be honest I think I'd like to pay for the peace of mind of getting the medical info as well as the everything is okay info too?
(babybond are all quite far away :-()

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/03/2008 17:02

Pine Hill def do them popsy.

Emkay - dd is just a little younger than yours, and whilst we haven't told her directly, I have lots of post natal group friends who are heavily pregnant, so I talk about how they have babies in their tummies, and how her friends are going to have baby brothers and sisters. I asked her when we visited a new baby last week whether she'd like a baby, and when she said yes, I said we'd have fun over summer and then have one after that.

perkypopsy · 27/03/2008 18:05

thanks CSWS xxx

emkay · 27/03/2008 18:44

Thanks for all your advice about talking to DD about new brother / sister. I think low key but soon is probably the way to go.
Loulou - mine keeps jumping on my tummy too, mainly because I'm such an easy target being laid out on the sofa most afternoons!
CSWS - we did go to visit friends with a newborn recently which stimulated the following conversation... DD: I'm holding a baby (cuddling, rocking motion), Me: Oh that's lovely, are you playing rockabye baby? DD: (big pause) I've dropped the baby... I've dropped him in the bin!
I couldn't really think of much to say after that!

SmudgeyDoodle · 27/03/2008 20:54

Emkay, that made me laugh so much with your DS dropping the baby in the bin. I think that's exactly what my DS would say if he could (only 13months)
I'm 10+2 and not got a date for scan or booking in yet. I was going to wait til next week to phone hospital but given your stories of lost paperwork, I might ring them tomorrow. Do you think you just phone the hospital and ask if they've heard of you? Might be a silly question but what department do I need - maternity or scanning people (can't remember the posh word!)
I think DS might be moving towards teeth as he had a really sore bum by the end of the day after about 10 dirty nappies. I was ok for most of them but did have to open the windows wide!

SmudgeyDoodle · 27/03/2008 20:55

Emkay your DD!

rosebury · 27/03/2008 21:45

My scan was wrong.

Some of you may remember I posted last week following my scan which should have put me at 11+4 wks but it said 9wks, I was told to return in three weeks for another scan. Iwas told by the consultant tht this was a significant developmental delay I thought that I would lose my baby. I arranged a private scan for today one week after my other scan.

What a contrast I burst into tears and wanted to hug the Dr he could see nothing wrong and dated me at 12+6wks two days ahead of my EDD. I cannot tell you the joy I and my Dh feel right now the scan cost £110 to us it was the best money ever spent.

Great news rosebury!

bethoo · 28/03/2008 10:02

rosebury - that would certainly make me doubt the copetence of the sonographers who took your first scan!! i would feel obliged to tell them at next scan! but that is my hormones talking!!! . glad it is ok and all is well. and you have had two days knocked off your EDD!
