Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

Hello all, I haven't popped in for ages. So sorry about the lost baby beans, really made me sad and I hope we don't lose any more

Still not scan or MW appt for me and I'm 12 weeks (well, who knows?) tommorrow. Feeling a bit fed up about it. Still ridiculously tired but it's easing a little, I'm sure 14 weeks was more like it last time and it's much worse the 1st time IMO because you don't know what's hit you!
I'm in maternity trousers most of the time now, I just can't do em up otherwise! I do have a belly clip thingy (can look it up if anyone's interested) which is good for cords/jeans,extending the waist by an inch. I have a wedding next weekend so all being well have ordered a wrap top from JoJo to show off the protruding bump rather than just look fat!

bethoo · 25/03/2008 21:19

Pepperrabbit - yes still have my sugar stuff though i get really psyched just to prick my finger!! what a wimp!! i used my last strip the other day but forgot how ot use the machine thing so it was wasted. ihave to book in at 16 weeks for a glucose tolerance test. awful having to wait for two hours coping wiht the hunger = bad sickness and weakness!

i find eating crisps at night helps with the nausea.

i am suffering with major paranioa and confronted someone today though usually it would not have bothered me but her behaviour was getitng to me! dare not leave the house now!!! what an idiot i am, really am a hazard to myself in pregnancy, should wear a neon sign WARNING IRRATIONAL WOMAN!!!

only 6 days to go til my forst scan!!! counting down!!!

emkay · 25/03/2008 22:14

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this thread - 11 weeks tomorrow and due around October 13th. It has been great to read through so many posts of others going through similar belly bulges (already have a DD so I think tummy is already into 'been here before') and complete wipe-out fatigue. Also really pale and sickly looking which is a bit annoying! Can't remember when the blooming stage starts but it's obviously not yet!
Scan in 9 days...

AandMsmum · 25/03/2008 22:39

Hi emkay welcome and congratulations! I'm not sure I bloomed at any point during my past pregnancies, hoping for 3rd time lucky! Good luck for your scan!

accessorizequeen I remembering getting to around 14 weeks and suddenly feeling like Id woken up! It was amazing to think that I'd been functioning whilst feeling so dreadful!

bethoo I'm so irritable but unfortunately it's my DH that bears the brunt of it.. Though sometimes he does deserve it!

Is anyone else finding that their DH/DP are not very understanding when it comes to the extreme tiredness? I think my DH thinks I fall asleep early on purpose just so as not to talk to him! I may also be being paranoid but when I try to explain what's happening it just seems that he thinks I just making excuses for being lazy!

Any suggestions on how to knock some sense in to my DH who seems to have completely forgotten what it was like last time around?

lozza i have an underactive thyroid i got bloods done at 6 weeks and they came back fine T4 was spot on at 16.2 but TSH was high but they said it was the T4 that matterd in pregnancy i have not needed to take any more thyroixine but i suppose its early days.

i am atending a clinic were you only see mw and they were a bit unsure if they could look after me properly because of my thyroid but they said when my bloods come back they will get someone to look at them and see if i need to see a consultant

rach010 · 26/03/2008 11:10

Hi

Not posted for a while but reading everyone's news on a daily basis. Lots of good news on scans. My scan on 7th April which is ages away! I'm having problems with waking in the night and not being able to get back to sleep, really worrying me as i'm getting less sleep now than before i was pregnant, any advice ladies?

Keep up the good news.

bethoo · 26/03/2008 11:13

rach - it is weird isn't it? i had 4 hours last night as it does not help that need to wee every 5 mins and cant sleep knowing i need one! then cant get comfy. also does not help that my ds who is 13 months today insists on waking at half 5 and will not go back to sleep.

i am exhausted! hope ot catch up on sleep this afternoon, wonder if my boss will let me go home to get some kip before picking up ds!!

rach010 · 26/03/2008 12:28

Bethoo Its driving me mad! I can get to sleep OK when i 1st go to bed but its when i wake up for a wee like you say, then i start thinking about the most ridiculous things. I'm at work now and wishing i was in my bed! My DS has always been an early rising, lets hope this 1 likes his/hers sleep. Oh well only 8 more hours till i can go to bed!!!

ronshar · 26/03/2008 12:50

Hello to all the new ladies. We really will be keeping the midwives busy in October.
Is anyone else going for a home birth? I had one with DD2 and am going to go for one this time too.
Also what is all this on the news about alcohol in pregnancy? I thought that we were not supposed to drink when pregnant anyway. Has the advice changed or is it just our crap government being shite again???

I have been shopping today. Why cant I get anything to fit me I am normally a size 12 but breasts wont be squeezed into anything smaller than a 14. My flabby belly is also a problem. Is any one else haveing such an ordeal?? Good news is that I have a small firm roundness just above my pubic bone. Yipee.
Scan next Wednesday. I dont want to wait any more.

Thanks Sambrads, I'm also underactive which iswhy they were surprised my bloods came back with a higher level than expected. I'm off to see a consultant endrocrinologist in 2 weeks to check out the whole thyroxine thing just in case. Hope I don't have to have consultant lead care for the preg though.

I've been having much less sleep than usual as well but I reckon it is natures way of preparing you for the new noisy arrival DH has suggested the best way to get back to sleep is to wake him for some BD

sambrads · 26/03/2008 13:30

lozza how did you get to see a endrocrinologist???

i cant seem to get enough sleep . i could go to bed at 8 and slep to 8 and still need more sleep .
i find when i am about 30 weeks i tend to not sleep as im so big

ronshar i would love a home birth as i gave birth in a midwifery led unit and they let me do it all myself which was amazing experience but i am a bit nervous at the thought of doing it at home .

did you have a birthing pool??
the midwifes never talk of home births in northern ireland .

Lozza70 · 26/03/2008 13:37

I think my doctor referred me because I am recurrent MC and it can be one of the causes if it is not managed correctly. Also I'm in London and it is a lot easier to get a consultant referral than in NI. According to my folks back home anyway!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/03/2008 13:51

I also struggle to get back to sleep when I wake in the night. A warm milky drink before bed does help (but I have to be careful not to have too much dairy). And your dh isn't actually far off the mark lozza - that is one of my best solutions for nodding back off, but it doesn't involve dh as he's normally away!

The drinking thing is simply the NICE coming in to line with what the government has already been advising ronshar.

Part of me would like a homebirth, but we are 20 mins drive from hospital, and dd was a big baby, so I would be too concerned about an even bigger one getting stuck and not being able to get there in time to prevent serious repercussions. I hope to leave hospital VERY soon after the birth though (had to stay for 24 hrs with dd as meconium in my waters).

Poor ds myjob. Hope he's over it soon.

Welcome emkay .

ronshar · 26/03/2008 14:03

Sambrads I didnt have a birthing pool because I get really dry itchy skin and I have to slap on loads of cream after a shower. I had visions of me trying to cream myself and the midwife shouting at me to get on with it.
My SIL had one at home in an upstairs flat!! I thought it was very risky but it all turned out marvelous for her.
If you want a homebirth discuss it with midwife. I think they have to get their figures up for H/B. To be honest if you dont live too far from hospital then you could trial at home and if it gets too much you just go to the hospital. By ambulance. So that is a bit exciting. I can tell you that as a ex ambulance person they would like you to get to hospital much quicker than you probably do. Nothing quite so terrifying as delivering a baby in an ambulance.

sambrads · 26/03/2008 14:04

oh lozza how many mc have you had ??
its good to see that they are going to look after you and your thyroid condition .

i went slightly over active and have lost over a stone in 8 weeks which is strange as i could not shift an ounze in 18 months hahaha

sambrads · 26/03/2008 14:06

i also forgot to say lozza when i went for my scan i asked the midwife why i had not needed to increase my thyroxine and she said that when your pregnant it can do weird things to your thyroid gland its not a simple case of taking more for the baby .

Lozza70 · 26/03/2008 19:08

Hi Sambrads, pre preg I would have been delighted with going slightly over active as my trips to the gym were making no impact at all on my weight!

This is my 4th preg in a year and hopefully 1st baby. I had all the investigations last year and they could find no reason for the MC's so we had a little break from TTC for 6 months until the new year. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and I've never got this far, 10 and a half weeks has been my usual limit, so I'm really pleased. My GP has been fantastic and is throwing everything in terms of looking after me at this preg to try and make the bean stick.[fingers crossed ecomotion]

moodywren · 26/03/2008 20:09

myjob both my ds's have just got over chicken pox. Ds2 had a sickness bug at the same time and then ds1 got the bug too.
That combined with my 'morning sickness' meant there just seemed to be people throwing up everywhere for a while.

Glad I'm not alone in suffering from insomnia, although on the good side despite being really tired I am getting lots of jobs done before the dc's get up as I seem to be up most days now by 6am having got bored with staring at the ceiling.

I haven't got a scan date yet and I'm 11 weeks tomorrow (I think)

I had a homebirth last time and am planning another this time. I want a pool this time too although dh isn't keen I think its just 'cos he'd have to fill it.

emkay · 26/03/2008 20:28

A question for all you out there with toddlers... when and how do you first talk to them about the new arrival? My dd is 2 and a quarter and will be just under 3 when I'm due with baby no.2. We haven't said anything directly to her yet feeling that it was just too early on. But as of our scan next week we'll be telling everyone else (fingers crossed) and we don't want her to just pick up the gist that something's happening from conversations with other people. She's pretty sharp about picking up most things we don't want her to hear... and repeating them!
Any tips about timing and how to go about it, good books for this age group etc etc much appreciated!

bethoo · 26/03/2008 20:39

emkay - i do not have that problem since ds will be 20 - 22 months so i doubt he will know what is going on. i think that it will make your lo realise what is going on when you start to get a big bump then you can tell dd that her bro/sis is in there i guess.

bethoo · 26/03/2008 21:18

off to bed with my crisps. i have slept from 12 - 145,picked up baby from cm then bed from 4-630. i am absolutly shattered!!!
goodnight ladies. only 5 days to go til scan!!

sambrads · 27/03/2008 08:36

it does make me nervous lozza my overactive thyroid as you here so many stories of mc and deformites but my doc says that only happens if your not being treated by a doc and on medication .

i am 13 weeks and a few days so hopefully all is well

i have to wait ages now before i see my mw againhas anyone else got there 22 weeks scan date??

bigmouthstrikesagain · 27/03/2008 08:57

Hello Ladies, I have not posted for ages but I am still here and still up the duff and still not sure of my due date.

I have been getting really frustrated by the lack of action on part of midwifes/ GP - I have yet to be booked in, no sign of a scan date and I am quite possibly 11 weeks pg. Has anyone else had this issue - I know I will have to scroll properly through the thread to find out how everyone else is getting on but I have shopping to do and am not dressed nor are dc's and house is a state.

I had a slight bleed a week and a half ago - pale pink lasted 12 hours and ended with a tiny bright red clot - I am going to GP tommorrow and will demand a referral to EPU as I need a scan - I want a due date - esp as I would like a homebirth and do not want to pressurised into hospital too soon if I do go overdue. (ds was 10 days late, dd a week early).

Very very tired and keep falling asleep when putting kids to bed about 7.30pm and still finding it hard to wake in am.

Moan over now

perkypopsy · 27/03/2008 09:13

Sambrands - my next scan is on 20/05 YIKES! week 21 - can't ever imagine it will happen

All this talk of birthing is getting me all sweaty and nervous
