Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CantSleepWontSleep · 06/03/2008 19:59

I'm very of those of you who can take a nap whilst your dc do. My dd either doesn't nap, or passes out on my lap late afternoon and won't be shifted, so I still can't sleep. By 6pm I am absolutely shattered, not helped by keep waking up at about 5am.

On the boob front, mine weren't sore at all last time iirc, but this time they are still painful, so feeding dd, who is very 'active' at feed times, is not pleasant. Am really hoping that it will get better in the second trimester.

Bethoo - I'm also still going to the gym (just once a week as that is the only chance I get). I thought that you were still too?

I like the look of the close baby carrier too accessorizequeen, but need to work out if I could feed in it with my enormous boobs. If I can't find one I can feed in then there's no point me using anything other than the baby bjorn active that I already have.

Less than 11 days to my scan .

bethoo · 06/03/2008 20:08

CSWS - i intend to go back in a couple of weeks once the fatique and sickness had subsided. defo as if my weight gain continues like this i am going to be mahooosive!!!

my boobs hurt on a morning when i bf my ds, really uncomfortable and have been tempted ot stop but he is persistant and i hear that they self wean when the milk changes!!

Looking forward to the scan then, csws? I think I've weeks until they even give me an appointment!
Yes, a nap wld be v.nice, ds2 has 1-2 still but of course ds1 still needing me. I'll get a month of naps when he starts school I hope!
I don't think I'll ever bf in a wrap or sling, have given up they're too big! And neither of my babies were great feeders so require lots of attention. There was a thread in products about slings for large-bosomed ladies just recently but it does seem that's it's problematic for bf. I hate our babybjorn, dp uses it and likes it but have never been comfy in it. I have an ergo and that's not much better thus trying a kozy. Hugabub looks quite nice, I'm going to join UK babywearing swap and pick up a few cheap as I really enjoyed 'slinging' ds2 and want to do it more this time.

moodywren · 06/03/2008 20:15

No chance of me getting a nap in the day, even if dcs do go to sleep, they never go to sleep at the same time.

No sickness today, took dd to school in car, so its definately the walking that causes it.

Went to dr today with bad pain in my ribs on left hand side. Was told the area in between ribs is inflamed and I need anti-inflamitaries (forgive spelling)but I can't have them because of risk to baby.

Was told to go home and have complete rest. How am I supposed to manage that with 3dcs two of which are under 3!!

I think I was on that thread accessorize. Was trying to persuade the OP to get a close so that she could tell me if it was any good .

I tried on an ergo at a baby show (when dd was about 10 months iirc), and loathed it. It seemed to be impossible to put on single handed - even the guy demonstrating was agreeing that I was going to find it impossible! Needless to say I didn't buy one.

accessorizequeen · 06/03/2008 21:29

drs are so unrealistic aren't they? hope it gets better on it's own moodywren, sounds v.painful.
People seem to love or hate ergos, I so wish I had tried one before buying. Dp finds it uncomfortable too, he wants to buy a littlelife mini one as we got rid of our bigger backpack.
The ergo just seems too much for a little one really even on the front (we got it when ds2 was 7 months). If you look at the video for the newborn insert, it looks such a faff! The pouch I got was an absolute godsend for quick trips, in and out of nursery etc. But no longer than 20 mins or my shoulder would hurt.

iuseantiageingstuff · 07/03/2008 01:30

Hello all

Havent posted for ages am so tired in the evenings I have been going to bed at 8.30
every night. I dont get a look in with the computer until about nine every night as dc's are always on it.

Fortunately my children are all older so I can take it easy at home when i want.Have been in the same boat as some of you with lo's under 2,and cant believe how I did it now.

Am posting at this ridiculous time because I woke up with awful heartburn and cant get back to sleep.

will post again soon it took me ages to catch up and read all the posts.

sambrads · 07/03/2008 08:45

good morning all how are you this morning??

i have been reading how people are putting on weight i am still losing it which is not a bad thing at all but bring on the bump

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/03/2008 12:42

Gosh - it's unusually quiet on here this morning. Where is everyone?

I've just back from toddler group and am giving dd a quick feed before making lunch and then dropping her at the cm for a couple of hours whilst we have some people round to do the next stage of planning for the building works.

sambrads · 07/03/2008 12:56

hi ya csws

looks like we are the only people on here

MegaMindy · 07/03/2008 13:01

I'm here (belgo).

I have an ergo baby carrier, and I really like it. It does take practise to use, but I became quite expert at putting dd2 onto my back - it was easier to do on my own then with someone helping me! I found it extrememly comfortable and used it for two years, sometimes hours at a time.

My only reservation about it would be about the dodgy ethics of the company that make ergos.

ronshar · 07/03/2008 13:07

I had a real scare last night. It is my own fault really.
I used a wee stick I found in my pants drawer. It was a cheepy. It took ages to work and then I completely fell apart because there was no line. I went to bed dreaming my baby had gone. It was worse because my bump seemed to dissapear as well. Needless to say when I got up this morning there was a line I just didnt wait long enough before jumping to the wrong conclusion!!!!!!

I think that one of my legs weigh 9 stone let alone my whole body.

Has anyone else completely gone off a food/foods that before they loved? I can not eat peanuts, cake or chocolate. Rubbish.

i probably test every week since mw told me to do a test before seeing her. i use the cheapy 3 for a quid ones from poundland.

not feeling so sick today, anyone elses symptoms seem to be subsiding? bit concerned now.

KSal · 07/03/2008 13:55

Hi all, been holding off joining as i've had no scan yet. Am just over 9 weeks (due 8th Oct) and booked in for the scan on the 19th. This is my first pregnancy and I am completely paranoid that there will be nothing there.

Also as this is my first... is it normal to have a constant dull ache in my abdomen? There's no sign of a bump at all yet, either.

Sure i'm just worrying over nothing, but would be good to get some reassurance!

tedmundo · 07/03/2008 13:58

hello everyone. Bethoo - I still feel sick. Would give my right arm to not feel queasy, even for a day. Don't be concerned, it may be that your body is learning to cope more with the hormones!

I am 8w+2 today. Booking in next week and the week after is the dating scan (I will be 10 weeks I think). Feels like things are starting now.

Not been near any scales since I got a BFP. The amount I am eating to keep the sickness at bay is disgusting. I am usually about 8 stone (I am v short so actually not that skinny) and last pregnancy put on about 2 stone. I reckon this time I will manage that by 4th month! Methinks it will be weightwatchers time after this pregnancy is over!

sambrads · 07/03/2008 14:16

bethoo please dont worry about your symptoms it will be ok

i have 13 days to go til my scan

caramelbunny · 07/03/2008 14:21

Hi and congrats KSal, yes, I think aches are quite common, and don't worry about lack of bump, I had no bump with my dd until about 23 weeks. Could feel one if I lay down by about 16 weeks though.

KSal · 07/03/2008 14:34

Thanks caramelbunny - part of me knows i'm being irrational, but its hard not to be!

Its funny, but i can't wait to have a bump!

accessorizequeen · 07/03/2008 14:42

Hello KSal, I have that ache a lot too, quite normal afaik!
Bethoo ,my symptoms have calmed down a lot, I think weeks 7&8 are the worst for a lot of people and then your body gets more used to it.
Myjobismum, that sounds really awful, I hate that about pg I have the most horrendous nightmares about my family members dying in horrible accidents several times a week. I hate the ones where I think my baby has been born stillborn or something like that. I wake up sobbing. Have already had several and sometimes it's the middle of the day and my kids are right there whilst I'm thinking they're dead. Urgggh.

bethoo · 07/03/2008 15:10

thanks ladies, i only have 2 weeks to go or just after to see what is going on so i can wait positively!!!

KSal - i think that at everyones first pregnancy they want to show. i am hoping that this one does not til late though the way o am eating i doubt it! had a bacon and egg sarnie, chicken and mushroom patty followed by a cream cappuccino cake thing from Reeves!! and congratualtions and welcome

perkypopsy · 07/03/2008 15:51

Hi ladies oooh love the messages - lots of great advice - thanks caramelbunny - have been fretting about no bump but am only 10+1 so am going to stop prodding .
sambrands was amazed only 13 days for you to go then realised is only 17 for me and I'll be 12+5 YIKE and hooray not so long anymore (days sound better than weeks don't they?)
Have a good weekend everyone
am going to try having a day out cos I feel rough all the time and want to take my mind off it

twinklytoes · 07/03/2008 18:48

I feel like a right lurker. have read all the posts everyday but never post.

have been feeling really rough this week - dh made me leave work early (we work on same site) as I looked so white yesterday. came home and curled up in bed at 5 and woke at 9! thank goodness dh did the bedtime routine with the dds.

had to go to dentist today, I need a filling but could only have a temporary filling until the bean arrives. the dentist says it will hold but I'm not so sure as I lost a tooth with each of the other pregnancies.

off to the local NCT nearly new sale tomorrow - have decided to look out for a sling. Any suggestions as I've never had one before but quite fancy one this time.
