Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

I have discovered my pregnancy sickness is brought on by walking!!

Every time I walk to school I am struggling not to throw up in the gutter
Today on the way home from school I had to leave dcs walking back with dh and run home to be sick.

I guess I'm going to have to start taking the car to school. I would be so embarrassed to throw up in the middle of the street.
My dd was really worried about me too as we haven't told her yet.

AandMsmum · 05/03/2008 22:38

Hi moodywren - it would appear we're the only mad ones to stil be awake - (and accessorizequeen if you're still there)

You're about a week ahead of me, we've not told eldest dd yet and not sure when to tell, last time we told her when I was 8 weeks but this time i'm not sure.. telling too early seems to make pg last that much longer! When do you plan to break the news?

OP posts:
AandMsmum · 05/03/2008 22:40

Also does this happen walking everywhere or just that time of day? maybe take a snack with you to try and keep it at bay?!

OP posts:
moodywren · 05/03/2008 22:56

It happens both in the morning and afternoon, this afternoon really bad. Its only a ten minute walk. I get queasy at other times occassionally but walking to school is the worst (could it be the fresh air).
Don't want to tell dcs until after 1st scan if possible. Last pregnancy difficult and I had a threatened miscarriage at 10 weeks.
Unfortunately dh told his mum and swore her to secrecy and 24hours later I had a 'Congratulations' text from SIL, So I don't know how long it will stay secret for.

AandMsmum · 05/03/2008 23:13

I'm having the same problem with DH's mum! Went to IL's anniversary party at the weekend (managed to stay until 10pm until keeled over and went home to sleep) well we asked her to keep it a secret, but soon, nan, SIL and half the family knew, and DH was being introduced to people he'd not seen for years as "this is my son, and by the way his wife's expecting again" grrr the last thing I want is for DD to find out from someone else.

I think taking the car to school might be a wise decision, I was sick in the street with eldest dd after getting off a bus and believe me it is not pleasent, you've absolutely no idea of what to do with yourself!

OP posts:
moodywren · 05/03/2008 23:22

I have been annoyed with other parents using cars when they live within walking distance so I feel a bit of a hypocrite taking the car, but I dont think I have a choice at the moment.

We had a row with PIL over telling SIL and she said I thought as you told your best friend the family had a right to know, and as grandmother I should have a right to tell.
I am getting over it now but was really upset and felt like its not my baby but 'the family's baby' for a while.

AandMsmum · 05/03/2008 23:48

Same here, luckily we live 120 miles from IL so don't have to deal with MIL very often - god it must sound like I really don't like her, I do but she interferes, but then I think that's the same with everyones IL.

Scan is now in 20 days and counting, I thought this pg would be whizzing by due to having 2 dds already to run around after but the first stage always seems to drag on and on..

I very tired now and finish work in ten minutes so signing out for the night, sleep well. take care and speak again soon.

Morning all, 7 weeks today for me - time is still going so slowly! I told my best friend yesterday since if anything goes wrong I'll be crying on her shoulder. As someone else mentioned, I might as well share the good news now rather than only tell her when it's bad news.

I was one of the lucky ones to have an easy birth first time round, so am not worried about this time. Perhaps I'm in for a shock though! Answering hansnava's question a few pages back, what surprised me was the amount of blood in the week or two after giving birth. Getting out of the shower in the first week I didn't know whether to mop up the bleeding or the milk dripping from my boobs!

I'm hoping to avoid the double buggy problem by putting new baby in a sling or making ds walk / ride on a buggy board. Though perhaps I'm being overly optimistic as ds will only be 21 months? We've already got two pushchairs so I don't really want to buy a double buggy which will only get a few months use.

bethoo · 06/03/2008 08:47

morning all. not a happy bunny today, my crap diet and no gym has taken its toll and i have gained 11 pounds already now weighing in at 9 stone on the dot. wish i had never got on the scales now!! must start eating healthy again if my sickness will allow, and to think i was gong to have a take out tonight as cooking repulses me right now!! all those smells!!

sambrads · 06/03/2008 08:51

morning ladies

moodywren oh my god i would have ripped my mil head off if she said that to me
its up to you who you want to tell no one else .
its her job as a granny to kep her mouth shut and respect your wishes !!!

cantsleepwontsleep i am sure my ds would fit into the main part of the phil and teds but when the back part is fully down for the newborn and the double seat is on the front he looks so squashed !!!

i would love to be able to use my loola pram again as i love it and maybe get a buggy board for ds . if i dont get phil and teds i will save myself £500 which is alot

14 days til i get my scan i am so excited as i will be able to shout from the roof IM PREGNANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bethoo · 06/03/2008 09:42

i have not booked in with mw yet as have to wait til next week when i am 10 weeks then i guess i will only have two weeks to wait til scan!!! not long to go for quite a few of us til we hit the second trimester!!! then i can get back to the gym and sort out my rapid weight gain!!

SmudgeyDoodle · 06/03/2008 09:47

MOrning ladies. Jambers99, I'm thinking the same about buggies. DS will be nearly 22 months but he's not even walking yet so I'm wondering if I'm pushing it. What sort of sling were you thinking? We've got a babybjorn active already but I kind of like the idea of a cuddly type one.
Let's not scare first timers with the labour bits. I think the thing that suprised me was that I just coped with the pain. I hadn't really thought about the birth too much and it all sort of happened. I know I was lucky because didn't have to push for long (stayed upright and he sort of dropped out on his head ). I'd echo whoever said about the first part (dilating) taking ages.
Still not feeling very pregnant but did eat 5 caramel shortbreads and had a nap on the sofa yesterday afternoon whilst DS was asleep. Bethoo, I'm going with the idea that you eat what you need to eat but going nowhere near the scales!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 06/03/2008 10:29

Good morning.

Those of you wondering about double buggies - I have a 20m gap between ds and dd - I found I needed a buggy as ds was still napping in his buggy for up to 2hrs in the day and as i don't drive carrying shopping etc. was easier. I have a Jane powertwin - I may use it for the new baby but as dd will be 2.5yrs I will mostly use sling and single buggy/ buggy board.

sambrads · 06/03/2008 11:04

forgot to say to you bethoo i checked out dopplers on ebay and they are so expensive my dh will not give me money to fund my need of heart beats but maybe he will give in when he sees the baby on the 20th .

i have woke up really excited today im having a baby its the best feeling in the world

cant wait to get a bump last night i was massive but this morning it was away again

because i have lost over a stone in weight nearly 1 1/2 stone none of my clothes fit and my maternity are needing a bump

i hate that stage were people think you have put on weight and then a few weeks later you have a nice round bump although i think it might be a bit more flabby second time round

i am going to get one of those t shirts im not fat im pregnant

it's nice to come on here and you're all so enthusiastic about it. I'm not quite there yet
Gap is 22 months for me too, and ds2 isn't walking yet (with no sign!) I just can't imagine using buggyboard/sling combo only really although I'm trying out a mei-tai at present (Kozy Carrier) and I have a hotslings pouch which worked really well when ds2 was little. But only for short distances. I think the close one looks great for the early months too.
I often feel a bit ill in the open air too, sucking a mint or something helps but nothing could be worse than throwing up in the street!

Wasn't going to tell ds1 (who's 4) until I absolutely have to tbh and ds2 won't know until the baby arrives! Last time we took him to the 12 week scan and I regretted it later in case there'd been a problem. I keep dreaming of missed m/c even tho I'm lucky enough never to have had a m/c.

Jambers99 · 06/03/2008 13:14

Accessorizequeen, I'm the same obsessing about missed m/c, even though I've also been lucky enough not to have had one. I'm paranoid about going to the 12 week scan and them saying: Sorry, no heartbeat. Which is why I'm thinking about paying for a private scan at about 9 weeks. I know it doesn't mean that nothing will go wrong between 9 & 12 weeks, but at least I'll (hopefully) get some reassurance.

My ds (13 months) has just started walking, so he's got 7.5 months to perfect it before the new baby takes over his wheels! We do have a car, so he wouldn't have to walk long distances and he rarely sleeps in the buggy these days. I've got a baby bjorn carrier which new baby can go in on longer walks.

Oh, and bethoo - if I could have put on 11 pounds and STILL only be 9 stone then I'd be a happy lady!

bethoo · 06/03/2008 18:25

sambrads - my doppler was £25 called Angel something you could buy now on ebay from a shop called twinkle something or ohter!! i have the worst memory!!!

AandMsmum · 06/03/2008 19:21

Bethoo - I'm still going to the gym and aerobics classes, I spoke to all my instructors who advised that as long as you drink plenty and don't overdo it then you're fine, it's only risky if you're just starting a new fitness regime. If you've been going regularly before now why not try just some hill climbing on the treadmill or cross trainer?

Feeling good today, relaxed and had a lovely sleep while dd2 was having her nap. I also didn't eat all day long so that's a vast improvement, not one piece of chocolate has passed my lips today, just a few digestives with my cuppa! Woohoo maybe I'm not going to end up the size of a house after all..

OP posts:
caramelbunny · 06/03/2008 19:36

Bethoo, I dream of being 9 stone!

Sorry to lower the tone everyone, but just wanted to talk about boobs. Mine were really sore when pg with dd, prob not helped by the fact that I kept poking them to see if they were still sore. Now they're not sore at all. I did BF dd for 12 months so maybe they're withered sacks incapable of feeling pain? Has anyone had similar experience?

SmudgeyDoodle · 06/03/2008 19:38

AandMsMum, not one piece of chocolate passed my lips either..... it was a whole bar of Dairy Milk, a snack TimeOut and a hot cross bun.

I'm so rubbish. I keep telling people that I'm PG even though I'm not meant to be. Haven't told DH though

SmudgeyDoodle · 06/03/2008 19:39

Just to clarify. I have told DH that I'm pregnant. I mean I haven't told him that I keep telling other people!!!!!

SmudgeyDoodle · 06/03/2008 19:41

caramelbunny, I'm exactly the same. First time round the sore boobs was my first symptom. This time round, nothing. Was still feeding DS (12 months) though so thought that might be why

accessorizequeen · 06/03/2008 19:42

Jambers, when you put it that way I guess my ds has got a bit of time to get his walking up to scratch (if he ever walks of course). 9 week scan sounds a good idea if it puts your mind to rest. TBH, the only time I think about the baby (other than onhere) is when I'm about to go to asleep or asleep.
My boobs hurt a great deal less with this pg, it was really awful before but I don't notice anything until the end of the day this time. And my body's changing differently, last 2 times I put weight on boobs from the start and lost it off hips, bums & legs but totatlly other way round now although I've only gained a couple of pounds. I'm suspecting a girl, but of course I have no basis for this just (a little) wishful thinking

caramelbunny · 06/03/2008 19:48

AandMsmum, was reading how you hadn't eaten chocolate all day while scoffing a ripple. They're so delicious, haven't had one in years. But 58 pence! It's outrageous. When did such skinny bars of chocolate get so expensive?
