Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

OP posts:

Welcome KSal . Don't wish yourself a bump too early - you will be sick of it by 40 weeks!

Am in a bad mood tonight (dh being a twunt as usual), so won't post much, but thought I'd at least stick my head in.

tedmundo · 07/03/2008 20:57

Sorry you are in a bad mood cantsleepwontsleep - if it is any consolation .. they can all be ar*es at times.

I have just spent a happy half hour on rightmove looking at houses in the £3mill+ price range for my area and dreaming a little dream... (note to self - must actually play the lottery sometime).

Off to watch the Sacha Baron Cohen thing now - night my lovelies. X

PS - ds lifted my shirt up today, saw my round, squashy tummy and LAUGHED. Then he PATTED it - how mad is that?!

hello everyone!
good to hear everyone's news and symptom reporting! mine are going away, really pleased not to feel so seasick and much less tired. Phew. I have got a belly, but then I was showing at 10 weeks last time, so with even slacker tummy muscles this time, I'm not surprised. It is not THAT noticeable in the morn, but like you sambrads, by the eve I look about 4 months I loved having a bump and luckily didn't get to the point where I had enough of it, and I'm looking forward to having one again!

tedmundo, your ds sounds very sweet! how old is he?

csws, hope you're feeling better today, my parents are staying and mum is in a foul mood so I am singing mary poppins and sound of music songs to keep myself from screaming in frustration. I don't think she likes my singing though so I may be making things worse

pistachio - hope you feel better soon too. I'm sure you'll start 'glowing' before you know it... (did that happen to anyone who's been pg before? not me I'm afraid. Sweating, yes. Glowing, no.)

ilovebeinglazy · 08/03/2008 12:36

hi everyone

been lurking and not posting. I sympathise with all the tired achy people. My uti has now turned into a painful kidney infection and I got antibiotics yesterday after finally going to the dr. My own fault as I tried to self-treat with cranberry juice. The moral of the story is if you don't feel well go the Drs!!!!

kookiegoddess · 08/03/2008 12:40

I'm 9+3wks now - have just been reading acc.queen's comment that weeks 7 and 8 are the worst - I have been feeling pretty awful, but have come to wales to spend a few days with my parents and am not feeling nearly as sick. WHich is scaring me because I'm now worried something's wrong! Has anyone else found that they started feeling less sick/gagging less during week nine? My tummy is defo growing and boobs still sore (I have to sleep in a bra) but I just don't feel very pregnant. Perhaps I'm just wittering and need to calm down...

ilovebeinglazy · 08/03/2008 12:49

Hi Kookiegoddess

I'm also around nine weeks and feeling less sick but it definitely comes and goes. I also have three friends who had little or no morning sickness and seem convinced its all in the mind!

The thing to remember is that while things can go wrong its much much more likely that everything will be alright.

It's great that we have all the scans and medical knowledge these days but the downside is that women don't seem to enjoy their pregnanices the way our monther's generation did.

sambrads · 08/03/2008 16:41

hello all

i am practically sypmtom free now thank goodness as the sickness was awful !!

i am not too worried as i now have the strength and energy for my ds .
only 12 days til my scan

tedmundo · 08/03/2008 19:36

Sambrads - how many weeks are you?? I am 8w+3 and no sign of sickness going. When should I start feeling better??

Spink - the wee man is 13 months and he is a complete darling (when he is not being a clingy, whiney git of course!!).

Thought of something else they don't tell you about labour. The placenta was supposed to just slip out with a wee push after the birth and that should have been it. Hooo Nooo.

After pushing for 1.5 hrs, contorted into positions by the midwife that frankly would make a hooker blush, passing clot after clot and assuming a shade of grey not normally seen on the living, they took me to theatre to have it removed.

THEN I got my spinal block that I had been begging for all night - about 6 blinking hours too late!!!

accessorizequeen · 08/03/2008 20:00

ilovebeinglazy, I think you're so right - we worry about every little thing and don't just enjoy it. Am trying to a bit more now but so completely exhausted I'm find it hard to stay upright!

Spink · 08/03/2008 20:01

tedmundo, last pg when I felt sick still at 12 weeks (sorry!) a smug colleague told me she was sick until she was 16 weeks .. and I was looking for reassurance that it would go away soon! It could get better any day though, hang in there!!

of course, I've remembered, you are one of the 20-month-ish club!! ds was 1 on the 20th. His personality is coming out more and more, and is a very giggly and curious little boy. I love it, even when the curiousness means he is pulling boxes on top of himself for the hundredth time... I LOVE having a boy and think I want another one ...

bigmouthstrikesagain · 08/03/2008 20:01

Good Evening, last night me and dh had a fun night of vomiting and diarrhoea with first dd then ds requiring many sheet changes and I was struggling not to join in. Still being sick this evening but they are both asleep now and I really hope that there is no more to come.

fingers and everything else crossed.

Still the antibiotic's for my urine infection (plus lots of cranberry juice) seems to be working - I hope Ilovebeinglazy is better soon too.

Acessoriesqueen - well perhaps "enjoy" might be exagerating somewhat but I'm glad you see what i meaN

hey bigmouth - glad u r feeling better - cranberry juice is so sickly sweet isn't it? sorry your dcs are ill. I hate getting up for ds at the best of times . This is mainly becuase ( and first time mums look away now!) he didn't sleep thru the night once till he was a year and I'm still traumatised

sambrads · 08/03/2008 20:46

hi ya tedmundo i will be 11 weeks on wednesday

i have only started feeling a bit better this week .

i am so tired tonight went for my usual chinese and nearly fell asleep eating it

kookiegoddess · 08/03/2008 21:22

Ilovebeinglazy, thanks for your msg (hope you feel better soon) - it's very true that it's hard to enjoy pregnancy - having had one mc I just can't seem to quite relax, when I do it feels like I'm pretending, but I really am going to try to stay positive till the 12 week scan. Glad to hear that some girls' symptoms are easing off a bit. Couldn't believe it when I nearly threw up last week after bending down to pick up a sock - so am pleased to have gotten thru a few meals gag-free over the last few days. Am off to bed, hope you all sleep well and have happy dreams!

accessorizequeen · 08/03/2008 21:23

sounds horrible, bigmouth, I'm lucky enough that I've never had both kids sick at the same time think I wld go mad.
spink, I think 18mo + is fab (actually ds2 is pretty fab at 15 mo except he won't bloomin walk argggh) and two boys is great! DP and I would both love the set (although a girl could be nice...). The difference b/t them has been amazing though, ds1 didn't sleep through until 15 months, ds2 did it at 9 weeks and is an angel by comparison. I must have done something right by comparison, I remember being very happy after 12 weeks when the emotional stuff calmed down somewhat.

caramelbunny · 09/03/2008 07:52

Hi tedmundo, unfortunately with dd, I was still feeling sick at 17/18 weeks. Am envious of everyone who's starting to feel better. The only thing that makes me feel ok is eating carbohydrate based snack food! I also had a retained placenta which was removed with spinal block. Seeing various arms disappearing up there to remove it is a sight I hope I wont see again!

I agree with what you said ilovebeinglazy, we don't enjoy our pregnancies as much, we find out so early whereas my mum said you didn't go to the doctor to have it confirmed until you'd missed at least 2 periods, by then you'd be about 9 weeks.

Dd had her first overnight at grandparents last night so we could go out (she's 16 months). I miss her with a physical pain and have been up for ages! So much for having a lie in.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/03/2008 08:07

Morning all. Hope everyone's having a good weekend. I had a very rare night out last night, so didn't make it onto MN.

Hope all those with sickness/utis/colds are feeling better soon. Touch wood my sinus head seems to be getting much better, so I'm just left with a very barky cough now.

Another one here whose placenta wasn't as easy to remove as expected, but the second m/w just managed to get it out before it came to the surgical option.

sambrads · 09/03/2008 10:47

hello all

cantsleepwontsleep glad your feeling better

my ds slept all night at 8 weeks so i am expecting this baby to be a nightmare to pay me back for having it so easy with the first

do you think that the baby itself makes it easy or is it us as parents ???

alot of my friends say that i am a brill mum as my ds is in a great routine i put him to bed at 7.30 wide awake and he sleeps til 7.30/8.00 in the morning .
i am not sure if it is me or the fact my ds is so so good

Spink · 09/03/2008 13:22

hey everyone.
I'm having some spotting.. was brown to start with, now it's red. I know it might not mean anything, but I don't have a very good feeling about this . keep your fingers crossed for me and teeny bean.

ellensmelons · 09/03/2008 13:43

Hi everyone. Got back from (freezing) Spain and so glad to be home.

Spink - i had spotting last pregnancy, and so did a friend of mine just last year. She was really worried as she's got pcos and her spotting was bright red. She went to the docs and had a scan pretty much straight away and she's now blooming! My fingers, arms and legs are all crossed for you.

My sickness last preg went at 11 weeks, virtually overnight! Felt like poo one day, then normal the next. Needless to say, i then had a mild panic because i thought something was up. And of course there was nothing! Have to say i'm feeling a lot more chilled about this pregnancy. i'm 7 weeks now and getting EVENING sickness! Well, nausea. The smell of cooking makes me heave and i'm wanting fruit and veg, which is handy!

sambrads - how old is your lo now? Soz if you've posted before. My dd is a great sleeper, and will be 13 months when dc2 is born, so i hope i can get the new baby into the same routine!

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/03/2008 14:41

Fingers firmly crossed for you here Spink.

Sambrads - I hate to break it to you, but I really think that there's an awful lot of luck when it comes to routines and sleep. My dd simply doesn't (and never has) need as much sleep as your ds gets. She goes to bed around 8-8:30pm and gets up around 6:30. Sometimes she will also nap for up to an hour during the day, but sometimes she won't. She is full of beans and charges around all day long, was an early walker (before 11 months) and strong talker. That's just her personality, and although I have done things to support her in the way she is, I don't think I can be held responsible for her inbuilt traits.

I also know of many people who have had more than 1 child, and found that one is a good sleeper and the other terrible, so not driven by who the parents are.

bethoo · 09/03/2008 17:03

Spink - how far along atre you? call the hospital in morning and you should get a scan within 2 days take care
