No no no knitter! He can't go for a whole week you'll go mad.

No one has ever, ever told me I am too skinny. And they certainly wouldn't now - saw a colleauge yesterday who said 'Hello fatty'

Baby is still really high up - is that normal at this stage? Is very uncomfy on ribs.

sagitta · 15/02/2008 16:08

Of course, P&L!

Knitter - I'd knock that one on the head. After three-six months you might be OK, but before is a bit much - for a whole week. If he has to, could you go too, with MIL and stay at a nice cottage or something?

Mollyfloss · 15/02/2008 16:26

Thanks for the offer Scorpio but I'm afraid i'm in a maternity size 10 now so they would not fit me I have black huge kniwkers too but had to get white one's also `cos you can see the black one's through my white nightie and white pyjamas. Anyone visiting me at the hospital would think I had already become a slummy mummy and I do so want to be yummy

I know I'll have to eat properly to breastfeed. I just hope my new found sweet tooth disappears after the birth. I never knew how good chocolate & cake were until now! I've always had a massive appetite but for more savoury stuff...

My idea of skinny has changed a lot since I got a lot bigger. Before I thought people like Nicole Richie were skinny. Now anyone without a big tummy or ass looks skinny to me... I actually have been called to skinny in the past (she boasts proudly) but the chances of that ever happening again are slim (not literally)...

Knitter: Put your foot down. there's no way he shoud be going away in June!

sagitta · 15/02/2008 16:32

Right. The place now smells of e-cover, which means it must be clean, right?
So this time I'm finally going. Have great weekends, everyone.

eva07 · 15/02/2008 16:37

PAL about the moses basket: would you consider sending it by mail?

eva07 · 15/02/2008 16:38

have a nice weekend too, sagitta

SuzeM · 15/02/2008 16:48

I am still at the thought I might grow out of my shoes.

When you say big knickers, how big are we talking? Two sizes bigger than normal?

I have more of a sweet tooth than normal but I think I'll start being more strict on myself in anticipation. I don't want to wear those damn maternity clothes all summer.

My dh works really long hours so I think I'll head to Dublin when she is 3 months old, because I'll mostly be on my own here anyway. Molly, are you going to spend a lot of time in Ireland while you are on maternity leave?

Scorpio, hope you aren't too lonely this weekend.

Denny185 · 15/02/2008 17:21

Or do they mean big as in over the belly not bikini?

Molly - have you got white PJs for after the birth? v brave

VictorianSqualor · 15/02/2008 18:03

WHAT A FUCKING MUPPET.
I just went to get DD from school, as soon as I walked out the door I realised my keys were in the backdoor , had to get the bus so had not time to faff, anyway got home hoping and praying back door would be unlocked, got DD climbing over the gate, all doors and windows, locked.
Went to call dp, credit ran out on phone, walked to phone box (the only one in the village) no cash calls, ARGHHH.
Went to shop thought I';d top up my mobile, cash point not working, so called vodaphone to try and register my credit card, wouldnt let me, walked out of our village along a long country road to the hotel (about 30 minutes away) called DP, no bloody answer!
Came home to wait for him (he has squash tonight so I assumed he was at the gym)thankfully he heard the message just ebfore he went to the gym and came straight home to let us in!!
My toes are FREEZING!

VictorianSqualor · 15/02/2008 18:04

Big knickers, I'd get large briefs a couple of sizes bigger than normal, in blakc to hold onto the mattresses you'll be wearing for a few weeks, primark do them for about £4 for 5 I think, get a couple of packs then if they get messy you can sling em in the bin.
WHITE PJS???

PortAndLemon · 15/02/2008 18:07

In principle I'd be happy to poat it, but I suspect that the postage cost would work out pretty high, the Royal Mail being what it is (and, to be fair, a Moses basket being what it is -- i.e. fairly big and fairly breakable). You might do better finding one on your local Freecycle.

Denny185 · 15/02/2008 18:43

VS, glad your in safe and sound now though and thank f**k he heard the message then and not after the game of squash.

Asda do BIG knickers £2.50 for 5 pairs.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

EllieG · 15/02/2008 18:51

Silly sausage VS
Glad you are OK x
Have nice weekends all - incidentally DSD was fine and not scarred for life, said it was OK and the head teacher was pleased with her cos she thought she had deliberately chosen to wear uniform cos she was proud of it!

goodcatholicgirl · 15/02/2008 19:36

Denny185 Can't believe you ate BRIE....!!!!what would you know who say??!!

Peachy · 15/02/2008 19:43

cooked Brie is eprfectly acceptable

says the woman with a beer in her hand [bush]- first drink since Christmas though.

Eva don't worry about your driving- Dh just got aan automatic space wagon delivered; so not only do I have to elarn to drive an auto, it's huge- gulp!!!

So Cardiff may well be safer than its near neighbours......

Denny185 · 15/02/2008 19:52

Goodcatholic girl - I know but it was v nice and it was cooked, hows the wedding ring experiment going over on the may thread?

chipmonkey · 15/02/2008 20:04

Oh, VS, I have done that kind of think so many times. Today, I dropped ds3 to the creche but forgot his bad with nappies etc in it. And I had made a big fuss about cloth nappies the week before when one member of staff suggested I put him in dispies and today had to quietly agree that he could borrow some dispies from another child to save me going home for the bag as I was already running late!

chipmonkey · 15/02/2008 21:21

OK, I think I have uploaded pictures of ds4!!! to my profile page but I am not v. good at techy stuff so correct me if I'm wrong!

chipmonkey · 15/02/2008 21:24

Hang on, where's my profile page?

chipmonkey · 15/02/2008 21:36

Found it!

Mollyfloss · 15/02/2008 21:42

By big knickers I mean I have size 14 cotton briefs from M&S (£5 for 7). Yhey are huge on me but very comfy for now. I can still fit into my old regular size 8 knickers but they are not comfortable. The big ones are just more roomy and comfy (and obviously not sexy at all). I have these white PJ's that I bought for nothing next to nothing in the sales. Maybe I shoud get something else for the hospital. Are pyjamas or nighties best. How many pairs would I need if I'm in there for 2 to 3 days?

SuzeM: My DH works long hours too. Our first trip to Dublin is in June. I'm going to go a few days early and then DH will come over for a week. We're going to my cousins wedding in Cork and then going to Kerry for a few days, just the three of us, then back to Dublin. After that I'm not sure how often I'll go to Dublin but possibly quite regularly. It's a fairly easy trip for me as it's not too hard to get to Heathrow and my Mum picks us up in Dublin and we're not too far from the airport. That said I haven't travelled on my own with a baby before.

TLSM · 15/02/2008 22:32

Molly your best bet is a nightie (2 for every night your likely to stay in just in case) would not recommend anything white it is scary how much you bleed in the first two days imagine 9 periods all at once sorry if TMI but noone warned me and I thought something was really wrong!

SuzeM · 15/02/2008 22:36

VS, hope your tootsies have warmed up now!

Molly, in the summer, look out for a harassed woman at the Aer Lingus gate, with a panicked expression on her face, trying to fold a pushchair with a screaming baby in her free arm!

Chipmonkey, he looks so sweet.

chipmonkey · 15/02/2008 22:43

Suze, how will Molly know whether that harassed woman is you or me?

TLSM · 15/02/2008 23:02

Chip I cant believe how clear they are there brilliant!
