DH knows how I feel about the whole going away thing and is fine with not going. I just can't get over the thoughtlessness of FIL.

And there's no way I'd even think about going too, especially not staying anywhere with the PILs, I'd be putting my head in the oven after 5 mins.

TheMaskedPoster · 16/02/2008 08:33

Oh VS - what a drama - poor you (and dd) hope you had a nice nights sleep with toastie toes after all that!

Wonderful photos chipmonkey - so clear .. amazing

I had a horrid night sleep last night. Was incredibly tired so asleep by 9.30pm, only to awake at about 12.45 for a wee etc - then just drifting off at about 1.30am and dd comes shuffling out of her room declaring that she needs a wee. I make sure she is back in bed and covered etc and toss and turn for a while longer - just drifting off again and then I hear her call out 'mummy' (2.55am) so I go in and she says to me 'I love you mummy' - turns over and goes back to sleep ... I trudge back to bed and I think finally fell back to sleep about 4.00am (after a couple more wees etc)

oh and baby was awake and moving too - obviously keeping me company

KnitterInTheNW · 16/02/2008 09:17

Ellie, just been to the post office to send your blanket. I'll email you now with the recorded delivery number so you can keep track of it if you want to, but know you won't get that til you're back at work on monday so thought I'd let you know here too!

Peachy · 16/02/2008 09:42

Hve to pmsl about size 14 knickers being huge- year before last ahd to give up on weightwatchers as my BMI dropped below the healthy range and i as still only a size 14 on the bottom LOL! I know its a matter of build- I am tall(ish) at 5'6" and all the women in the family have big hips but LOL

SuzeM · 16/02/2008 12:08

Chipmonkey, as an experienced mum of four, you will look serene!

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 13:33

big knickers - god i hate them. i have size 10/12 ones that will do fine, in black, from peacocks. We dont have primark or asda here. Oh and yes you will bleed alot, it is best IMO to wear two maternity pads at a time for first day or so

I didnt get up until 10ish today, jamie ws pottering around. then we went out and have just got in, so have passed most of the day already. I am amking quorn spag bol for tea later; looking forward to that. I did have Wimpy for lunch though

Today i got Millie some more new stuff - that has to be it now its ridiculous. i seriously have 2 drawers full of newborn size pink stuff . she better fit it all!

i only have a baby gym & monitor left to get.

eva07 · 16/02/2008 15:42

arnica globuli are supposed to reduce bleeding. my aunt started taking arnica approx. 2 weeks prior to EDD of DC3 and and she bled only a little bit (in comparison to DC1+2).
I will give it a try but with LO supposed to be born on 26th it will probably be too late for most of you

Peachy · 16/02/2008 16:10

Arnica is also supposed to help prevent bruising during delivery, so is worth considering for anyone I think.

Agree the bleeding can be heavy- and prolonged, I (TMI) bled for 6 weeks and more iirc with all the boys- so not looking forward to thata spect now...

But at least I will be able to life my arse out of teh chair to drag it to the loo, a definite improvement on now LOL

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 16:11

i bled for 6 weeks with ds1, less than 2 with ds2.

also will need tons of breast pads.

LOL @ dragging arse....i feel so big now.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 16/02/2008 18:34

I learn something everytime I come on here! Good tips about getting non white nighties (good thing I didn't buy the white patterned ones I saw today!), taking arnica and learning ust how long I can expect to bleed! Really not looking forwad to that - guess that's to make up for not having AF for nine months! Guess I am giong to have togo to Costco to bulk buy pads!

Very excited - pram and extras arrived today - went to shop to pick them up and the pram lovely!! We eventually went for an iCandy Cherry and I am so pleased we did - it is so light yet sturdy and nice looking! Also got cot bed mattress today - got a nice one from Babies r' Us for a really good price - so well chuffed! Now for the other 100 things we still need to get! This list seems never ending!

We also went to look at our photos at Venture today - we went last Sat to have pics of me, Bump and DH taken. They are amazing and I sobbed the whole way through the slideshow. So we have chosen two and will def go back after LO is born (and about 6 months old) for more! Sooooo expensive but really gorgeous!

Tomorrow DH is starting on LO's nursery - very excited - I can't wait to get everything put together and for it to all be looking nice! And of course can't wait to see LO's face looking back up at me one day from the cot!

Oh and BTW - DH just pumped up my exercise ball and it is soooooooo comfortable to sit on - really helps the back!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 16/02/2008 18:35

PS - please excuse all the typos!

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 18:36

get the maternity pads though, normal ones aren't good enough. They are about a £1 for ten in boots/mothercare/etc.

Your day sounds nice

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 18:37

oh and i want a photo of Millie done professionally too when she is a day or two old - they usually have them in the hospital but i am having her @ home... thanks for reminding me will have to seek one out.

VictorianSqualor · 16/02/2008 18:46

I went to primark and bought a job lot of black pants and pj's, a thin dressing gown and a nightie to hopefully give birth in today. Have finally packed baby bag and my hospital bag, also moved a load of my clothes (my 'lingerie drawer - all my gorgeous nighties that I havent been able to wea for months ) into under bed storage so I could put LO's clothes in there.

Noticed we have about 20 baby gro's and vests even though we thought we werent buying much as we didnt know the sex

Cot comes tuesday, pram friday and I'm taking the kids to cinema thursday (and maccyd's ) as wont be able to just up and do things so much for a while, actually we're spoiling them at easter toohave bought lazytown live tickets instead of eggs so hopefully they'll enjoy that!

Feel like everything is finally coming together now, fingers crossed I get to do birth, I was really excited packing my bag, just hope I get to use it all.

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 18:48

VS, are you having a long nightie? like knees long? i can't remember what to get; don't wamt it in the way when im squatting

it sounds like you are very organised!! im not getting the pushchair until 38 weeks, i dont want it cluttering up the house, lol. its in the shop at the bottome of town anyway; 2 mins away if i need it.

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 18:50

oh and what shall i pack? obviously intending on a HB but what shall i have for a grab bag? i thought

pads
knickers
shower gel
2 nighties
2 sleepsuits
2 vests
About 5 nappies

DH can get more stuff; thats just a quicky bag iyswim?

VictorianSqualor · 16/02/2008 18:53

Ha, organised! Remember I only bought my first thing about two weeks ago!
I've got a strappy dress type nightie, to just above my knees, and a thin dressing gown to cover me up a bit when I'm not actually doing anything, I got the strappy one so I can just slip the straps down to feed.
Also have pj's with a button top to feed whilst I'm still in hospital.

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 18:55

my pj's have boob clips (if i need them ) but the top is a short vest and dont want my arse on show for ages. think i will get a long nightie for during and wear my pjs afterwards.

VictorianSqualor · 16/02/2008 18:56

I think that's fine for a quick bag, I live about half hour (at the quickest in no traffic) from the hospital so have made sure I have everything ready for upto 3 days in there.(If they make me have a CS)

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 18:57

We are about 45 mins, more in rush hour and weekends away, but if i have to go in he can pop home or bring more stuff in the morning

Jamie has jsut said he wants to go to bed

VictorianSqualor · 16/02/2008 19:06

Oh God, I'd hate it, 45 mins! If we went the normal way it would be about an hour but DP has been practising the cross country route

We live on the outskirts of a village, on the outskirts or town but if we go cross country it's only half hour from hospital, just hope I can cope with bumpy country roads when we do the trip

I wouldn't dare leave DP to collect anything so it's best I have it all ready!

Annieroo · 16/02/2008 19:13

Hi all, hope you're all having a good weekend. Have been out today bying Pjs and dressing gown and slipper socks - all in pink for some reason (!) maybe it's going to be a girl got them all at Peacocks all for under £20 too - bargain! Treated myself to mum to be Sanctuary shower gel, bath creme and moisturiser but still looking for a cheap nightie for during. Going to start on the Baby's room tomorrow - yippee!

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 19:15

the sanctuary oil shower wash is lush

yep VS, can be more than an hour in traffic ; thats why i want to have Mills at home because last time after the travelling i was in hospital for 19mins when i had Jamie. the stress and the journey were awful - the lights were so bright in the ambulance as well. my friend had her baby in a layby about 25 mins away from hospital wth her fourth - not for me!!!

Annieroo · 16/02/2008 19:26

i don't think i'd like to risk it all that way in an ambulance either! luckily i live within 5 mins walking distance - or a minute in the car of the hospital

Sal22 · 16/02/2008 21:49

Hi everyone - I'll post separately elsewhere too, but as you mentioned prams - does anyone know anything about Silver Crosses? I've been having "disagreements" with DH about whether to get the Bugaboo Bee (my choice) or the Silver Cross Dazzle (his). Or any other suggestions?

Originally we both liked the M&P Pramette, but have decided to look for something smaller as I might be using trains / tubes regularly (and London sidewalks!)

Thanks.

O, and also, if you had to be in hospital for 4 days after a cs, how many sets of pj would you take?

Sorry for the many questions, and thanks.
