scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 09:41

lol peachy.

i was in hospital 10 mins and jamie came out, i pushed about twice i think! Was in labour for less than 3 hours.

Hoping DH will be working near by

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 09:42

Ellie - i would get her some clothes but only if you have the time. Think i am a softy

KnitterInTheNW · 15/02/2008 09:42

Thanks TSLM too for your story, I was going to post a seperate thread asking for stories so I have more of an idea what to expect, but I might not now I have 2 positive stories!

As a naive 1st timer I want to try to avoid having an epidural if at all possible, but accept that I may end up with one as a last resort!

Sheds & Denny, are you on for meeting up for lunch when you've both finished work?

EllieG · 15/02/2008 09:45

Damn I AM a mean mummy. I don't have time. And tbh honest, she is SOOOO forgetful that it drives me potty and don't think am helping by her never getting the consequences of her forgetfulness. But perhaps I am being a bit too 'tough love'? Oh god. Parenting is full of guilt all the time.

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 09:46

well if you don't have time and its her forgetfullness not yours then leave her; maybe she will learn. plus she can't depend on you running around everywhere. Can your DP do it?

TLSM · 15/02/2008 09:53

Ellie If you dont have time dont worry about it! i was like your DSS when I was little always forgetting things in fact one day when I was about 7 I went to school in tights forgetting to put knickers on would be the bloody day we had PE (which in those days you did in your knickers and vests) I had to wear a pair from the school my sisters and brother thought it was sooo funny they called me Nicholas for weeks! By now she would have forgotten about it I really would worry!

Knitter if all goes well this time i wont be having the EP although my Mum thinks I am mad!

TLSM · 15/02/2008 09:54

umm that should say wouldnt! [

TLSM · 15/02/2008 09:55

Right I have to go on a playdate around someones house I hate these things!

EllieG · 15/02/2008 09:56

No he's at work too. And neither of us knew anything about it cos she didn't tell us, or I would have sorted out clothes for her to wear, I always do.

Scampmum · 15/02/2008 10:05

hello all - sneaked in for a quick step off the wagon! good to hear you are all doing well. I have been signed off for another two weeks with SPD - it's much less painful but now that I'm doing nothing my whole pelvis seizes up so badly I can barely move: not for pain, I just literally can't!

Am also bringing forward maternity leave four days (again) so will be finishing at 34 weeks on 14th March, and will only have 17 days left when I go back after this two weeks - yippee! I'm not going back at all, not to that job anyway. I'm going to be 30 - time to start doing something I actually care about and not selling my soul!

Heard another story about a second baby (well third, but one adopted) coming out in about half an hour - hope I don't get too complacent! Having been fully dilated after 6/7 hours with DD, though, I'm getting DH home (and DD looked after - bound to be middle of night) the minute I have my first contraction.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 15/02/2008 10:06

Morning ladies! I also got my breast pump yesterday - and also wondered why MAM had to advertise all over the box! Just one question - what is the breast shield thingie for?

Scampmum · 15/02/2008 10:07

ps Ellie don't worry about it. I was terribly forgetful (cue weekly trips to bus depot to pick up blazer/violin/schoolbag) but I always knew it was my fault! I do think she's old enough to learn about consequences. Mind you, when we had mufti days I used to really embarrass myself with my choice of clothes so I probably would have been (at least retrospectively) quite relieved to have forgotten!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 15/02/2008 10:12

Ellie - I'm sure she won't be the only one to have forgotten - so don't worry too much!

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 10:18

Ellie - if she hasn't even told you then its not your problem

I'm going to phone DH the minute it happens too if he is at work, he will sort out babysitters etc.

eva07 · 15/02/2008 10:19

happy birthday suze
here's a bunch of daffodils for you and a piece of chocolate cake

love the new thread title and loved your discussions about it

I got an email from MAM too but no breastpump so far.

elli, I don't think you're harsh. I think she is old enough to get her own stuff together.

Peachy · 15/02/2008 10:24

I wouldn't take the clothes in on principle. I do however always take a bag of uniform these days when it is non-Uniform day as I'm never quite sure I believe them LOL.

Denny185 · 15/02/2008 10:35

I wouldnt take the clothes in, they have to learn somtime, think its a good 'life skills' lesson, not mean at all.

Happy birthday Suze

Knitter, still on for meeting up if you 2 are Ive still got 3 weeeks left - finish on the 7th so after that? We got one of the sun £9.50 holidays (bargin) the week B4 easter 17th-22 so can't do then. The site were going to is in North Wales and as far over as you can go so I reckon it will rain all week, and were going with the out laws so may be a long holiday. Still there seems to be loads for the kids to do on site so they should hopefully have a good time.

Wow to all those quick labours, wish I have them, my body dosent seem to have a clue what to do to push babies out!

eva07 · 15/02/2008 10:40

cardiff ladies, I advise you NOT to go out upcoming wednesday!
DP just paid the deposit on our new car which we can pick up on wednesday and then the car's all mine. and honestly, I'm (sorry, but it desicribes it best) pissing my pants about driving on the left side... I probably should drive the first 200 km during 3 and 4 am, when not too many people are around...

Denny185 · 15/02/2008 10:43

When was the last time you drove on the left, must be like the rest of us trying to drive on the right - scary stuff

Mollyfloss · 15/02/2008 10:43

I was wondering why it had gone all quiet on the the other thread! Right le me just catch up. Already 44 messages here... By the way, so far so good, I didn't dream I had a rat. I dreamt I was having coffee with Paul MC Cartney. We were chatting for ages... weird

sagitta · 15/02/2008 10:47

Me too Denny,

I like the new thread title.

Hectic day today, Lots of work, plus people coming for the weekend - making it the fifth weekend in a row we've had guests ! And yet, here I am on mumsnet....

Denny185 · 15/02/2008 10:47

Is there a deep underlying meaning to dreaming about Paul McCartney????

KnitterInTheNW · 15/02/2008 10:48

Can we try to make it between when you finish work and before you go away then? You get back on 22nd which is a friday, then there's a possibility I'll be being induced the following tuesday! Sheds said she finishes in 2 weeks which is the end of Feb. Where do we think might be a good place to go? If you 2 are bringing your DC it would make more sense to meet somewhere between you, seeing as I'll just have me to get there?

Lennsuey · 15/02/2008 10:49

Morning all. Very sorry ladies, i was the one who bunged up the last thread with nonsense about weird dreams!
Just been to see the midwife this morning and she thinks the baby might be Breach! Anyone else in this position? I'm 30 weeks, so plenty of time for it to turn around, so i'm told!

Mollyfloss · 15/02/2008 10:49

the LO hadn't really moved this morning and I'm starting to get a little worried. She definitely moved during the night. Anything I can do to get her going?
