Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

have my scan in two weeks and am having mixed feelings about it now, would really like to go and be reassured but then there's always a chance that it won't be good news

when i go to see the midwife the week b4 do you think that she will try to find the heartbeat

digitalgirl · 18/02/2008 11:38

grrrr I'm sooooo annoyed!!! Just called the hospital to chase my booking in appointment. Turns out they haven't even had a letter from my doctor! She was supposed to have sent it 4 weeks ago. So now if I can get the stupid cow to fax it over today I still won't get to see a midwife for another 4-6 weeks. I asked whether I'd get a scan before then and they said I should get one between weeks 12-14, which is something at least.
I really wanted to have a midwife I could call with any problems as I don't feel at all comfortable with my GP, last time I saw her she told me not to go on holiday because the airline wouldn't be too happy if I miscarried on the flight.
I have a feeling she didn't send the booking-in letter because she was waiting for me to miscarry.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm trying so hard to remain positive, boobs still very painful when I turn over at night, get the occasional wave of nausea but don't seem to be suffering horribly like most of you lot. I'm not even that tired. Stretchy twinges come and go, didn't have many yesterday and none this morning. Now I've got an even longer wait for some reassurance.

lollipopmother · 18/02/2008 11:46

Digital - why on earth would your midwife be waiting for you to miscarry? I would say it's far far more likely that the letter got lost in the post, Royal Mail can't be relied on at all and I'd think it much more likely that the letter is lost than your Midwife not sending it because she thinks you're going to have a miscarrage.

hopefully · 18/02/2008 11:49

After to-ing and fro-ing from hospital to GP back to hospital again, I finally managed to speak to a very nice maternity assistant, who phoned the early pregnancy unit, and I have scan at 10am on Wednesday. We'll be getting nervous together Potxola! Am relieved I'll know either way.

DG that is so annoying. From phoning my hospital it seems like the right hand has no idea what the left is up to, so it might be worth continuing to chase to get a scan date seperately to your booking in appt once they have your referral letter - the two seem to be organised seperately in some hosps.

potxola · 18/02/2008 12:00

Well done hopefully. That is great news! People seem to forget how difficult it is for us to pass the first 3 months.
My scan is at 8:30 on Wednesday. I will let you know . I am sure it will be good news for both of us.
We must not forget to take to hospital the urine sample and have a full bladder for the scan, otherwise they will make us drink more water and wait for longer.

Morning girls

Glad you have a scan sorted hopefully.

Digital It sounds as if it your Gps fault. Do you have to see that Gp again? I went through most of the Gps at my practice till I found one that understands me.

How are you doing today leo ?

I woke up with a spring in my step this morning. I took ds to nursery and came home to tackle the mountain of housework. After a few minutes or so I was seroiusly vomiting and now I feel soooooooooooooo poorly again FFS [ANGRY]. When is this torture going ton end? Never ever again.

aw, I just told dp I have a scan and I think he cried over the phone - he seems to get even more emotional about everything than I do!

lollipopmother · 18/02/2008 13:09

My partner keeps joking that he's got 'sympathy pains' whenever he's not feeling well, it's a load of rubbish but it makes me smile!

digitalgirl · 18/02/2008 13:25

apologies for my temper tantrum earlier

Well, turns out that my GP hadn't sent anything precisely because she thought it wasn't going to work out and she didn't think I'd like getting a booking-in appointment after a MC. But then when the EPU sent her the positive results of my last scan (week before last) she should have sent the booking-in request off, but she didn't/forgot etc.

I got DH to call her in the end, couldn't face talking to her.

Anyway, not much I can do now, other than call up tomorrow to make sure they got it and then see badger the AN department to make sure I get a dating scan in 3 weeks time.

Enough about me...hopefully glad you managed to get your scan sorted. good luck to you and potxola for wednesday.

owl hope your scan went well this lunchtime, thinking of you.

sassafrass i see you've got a scan too today. fingers crossed.

feelingpositive · 18/02/2008 13:28

Hi potxola and hopefully, I too have a scan on Wednesday morning - 9.45. I will only be 8+4 but am hoping for some reassurance.

digital, I also haven't received anything from my midwife or hospital re booking date or 12 week scan. Although I haven't called the hospital to see whether they have been notified yet. It is difficult to have faith in the system when they seem to waiting for us to fail to reach the 12 week mark! I hope you hear some reassuring news soon.

xfp

hopefully · 18/02/2008 13:33

Ooh, FP we will all have to send out positive vibes to one another!

DG glad you managed to get to the bottom of your midwife/hosp problem - at least now you're in the system things should start to happen.

theowlwhowasafraidofthedark · 18/02/2008 14:00

Just had my scan and really relieved to see his little heartbeat and that all is well. My dates have gine back 1.5 weeks - not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand I'm disappointed as I just want to get to 12 weeks, on the other I'm getting married in april and will now be 16.5 weeks rather than 18 so might have smaller bump than I though!

Good luck with your scan feelingpositive

Congrats owl that is great news. Hopefully the rest of us get the same good news.

There was another mum in my dd swimming class who just told us she is 17-18 weeks pregnant, and is only just showing... so you should be fine at 16.5 week. Good luck with the planning.

lollipopmother · 18/02/2008 14:18

Digital - God that's ridiculous, I'd be putting in a complaint about that! I'm amazed she even owned up to it to be honest.

Owl - I got put back too, I thought I was nearly 12 weeks but instead they said I was 9+6, which put me back 10 days. I was a bit miffed I have to say because I just can't wait to get on maternity leave and leave work, I hate it! On the plus side, it brings the due date to the start of Sept which is good for school.

digitalgirl · 18/02/2008 14:20

that's great owl glad everything's ok

digitalgirl · 18/02/2008 14:23

lollipop i know! I'm thinking about switching to another GP within the same surgery.

Sunshinemummy · 18/02/2008 14:25

Ooh theowl congrats and just noticed you are in SW London - me too. Where are you?

OK so my bleeing has been stopped for a few days now and the cramping has gone down. DP is back and scan is on Thursday so hoping all is well

Sicky story alert - sorry I have to share...

When DP got back on Sat, we decided to go for a drive round Richmond Park. DS was sat in the back and he started crying so we turned round and he'd been a little sick on himself. When we eventually got to a parking spot and cleaned him up he was really upset and wouldn't go back in his car seat. Anyway, not something we would normally do, but I sat in the back with him on my knee, seatbelt over the two of us, while DP concentrated on getting us home as DS wanted bed. About half way home, the sickly heavens opened, so to speak, and I suddenly found myself covered in sick from neck to knees. It had even gone down my top and pooled in my bra. Poor DS was really upset, I was cuddling him and trying not to look down as the smell and sight was making me retch, DP was saying "Use the tissues" because of course two tissues are going to catch a gallon of sick! It's funny now but was so horrible at the time. Luckily DS seems ok and has no ill effects!

hopefully · 18/02/2008 14:30

Ah, what a lovely story of family fun Sunshinemummy! Glad the bleeding has stopped though.

It's so nice that some of us are finally getting scans and everything is ok! Hope mine provides the same reassurance. Will be so nice in only a few weeks (theoretically) when everyone has had their scans and we can look forward to our joyful, energetic, nice bumped second trimesters.

Sunshinemummy · 18/02/2008 14:32

Hopefully glad you've got one sorted out.

DP thinks I'm a complete over-worrier. I should point him to this thread so he can see it's totally normal.

MrsElle28 · 18/02/2008 14:33

Hiya everyone!

I live in Hull, I'm 28 and this is my first pregnancy. I've had ridiculously foul morning sickness since i was five weeks preggers, and whilst i'm dead happy at the prospect of being a mum; i've found myself becoming a complete and utter moaning bore.
I was wondering if you'd mind a moaning bore joining your antenatal group as i'm due on september 10th, due to have my first scan next monday and feel i'm surfing on the last nerves of my nearest and dearest, and it's only a question of time before they tire of me.

Pleased to meet you all, could you add me to that list?
