Good morning all you creme egg lovers ( and those weird ones amongst us who don't appreciate them)

Good luck for all the scans coming up this week, and next.

sophie your b&b looks amazing. will see if i can persuade dh. we have our second wedding anniversary coming up soonish and i want to make the most of the last one with just the two of us!

debinaustria · 12/02/2008 20:46

Sophie - your place looks gorgeous, how many guest rooms do you have?

You can't get decent sausages here either, but English guests are very good at bringing things from home! We have some arriving on Saturday, but I don't know them - do you think it's a bit much to ask them to bring me creme eggs?

sophie love the look of your place. we're planning a weekend away with ds (our last before our family of 3 is 4) in april, i'll have to speak with dh about it.

thanks all for the knitting compliments, it's such a feeling of satisfaction to finish something!

i had kind of decided against a double buggy and thought i'd use the carrier (i didn't start using buggy for ds until 6 or 8 months or so) but now you all have me worried!!

ernest · 12/02/2008 21:22

deb-s behave yourself.

libralady · 12/02/2008 21:59

ernest
Where does your mum live then as I'm only about 1/2 from sophie as well?
I live in a small village (well it's classed as a town now) called Upton just outside Poole.

libralady · 12/02/2008 21:59

that was supposed to say 1/2 hour!

katyjo · 12/02/2008 22:07

hi everyone,
sounds like we are growing nicely! Does that mean we are about half way through our weight gain NH ? I really hope so, would mean I'll be same weight at birth as I was with ds, but 10lb heavier at start this time!

We were away in London this weekend, my 30th tomorrow! It was heaven, first time we've been away since ds was born, had forgotten what it was like just the two of us. I missed ds and felt quite guilty but it was bloody good! Thank god for grandparents!

sophiewd · 12/02/2008 22:07

Thank you very much for all your lovely comments, we do love living here fo us and DD, it was like coming home as very lucky this house is owned by my family so have known everyone who has lived here and played here a lot when I was little. We also have 2 months f lambing in the yard behind us starting mid march

ernest listen up

Bread - white can used sliced but if from proper loaf then quite thick slices and has to be white.

vegetable/sunflower oil is the best and enough so that the bread does not sit on the bottom of the pan.

Heat - I have a gas hob and use the smallest ring up on high, bigger/hotter rings probably medium high, wait until hot and then place in so doesn't soak up the oil, Fry until golden brown on each side.

sophiewd · 12/02/2008 22:09

Deb - 3 rooms that we do officially we have a room for older children if they don't want to share with their parents and very occassionally I do overboo/get sweettalked and give up pur room

bitofadramaqueen · 12/02/2008 22:11

Have a lovely birthday tomorrow katyjo!

debinaustria · 13/02/2008 06:21

Happy Birthday Katyjo, hope you have a lovely day. Sounds like you had a great weekend away. I brought dh over to London last year for his 40th - we had a great time and Mil and Sil came over here to look after the boys.

Busy morning - ds1 skiing with school so got to go and get all his stuff together and ds2 is going to a puppet show with KIndergarten and giving out his birthday invitations - he's v excited.Dh will ski with ds and I'm ironing - what a surprise.

dylansluckymum - what type of carrier did you use with your DS? I'm so attached to my mountain buggy I'd love to think I could manage without a double buddy (but I know I probably couldn't).

Sophie - your place looks lovely! But way too far for a weekend away from here I'd like to get away at least once more for a weekend break before the next baby arrives. DS is finally at the age where he sleeps well so we can travel...

Happy Birthday / Anniversary to everyone! Tomorrow's even valentines day - DH has been given a small list of treats to buy me so I'm looking forward to it. (He is rubbish at gifts and always begs for instructions).

Rolf · 13/02/2008 09:01

Your place looks lovely Sophie.

Happy anniversary Ernest. Almost 4 children in 10 years is pretty good .

dylansluckymum · 13/02/2008 09:16

happy birthday katyjo and happy anniversary ernest!

neighbours downstairs had a party last night and after waking ds up twice before 10pm,we had to go down and complain, then they went out. they lo and behold at 4.30am i was awoken by them, went down in something of a rage and a guy i don't even know was really rude to me. they did quiet down somewhat at that point but i was so irritated i couldn't go back to sleep. got up this am and can still hear them talking. who parties until 9am on a bloody wednesday am???

aberdeenhiker i used a tomy freestyle fleece which i LOVED. i tried a couple different slings too but the carrier was much better. it's not for sale anymore though but i'm thinking about getting this one this time anyway, ds' is kind of knackered and was only about £25 in the first place. with all our stairs i don't know how i'd manage a double so will try it like this and see how it goes i think!

dylansluckymum · 13/02/2008 09:18

btw i noticed a baby bjorn carrier in a similar style costs twice as much - i highly recommend the tomy it was super comfy and soft and ds loved it (sometimes the only way i could get him to sleep!).

PiggyPenguin · 13/02/2008 09:32

Dylansmum, how annoying, you must all be exhausted this morning, some people have no bloody respect do they.

I have a baby born acrrier and really liked it but noticed a thread recently which said they were bad for baby's hips, has anyone else heard this? In case it is a problem, does anyone have a sideways one they could reccommend?

sophiewd · 13/02/2008 09:39

DLM - I hope you manage to get some sleep tonight or some rest today.

Deb - the joy of ironing yesterday, the joy of reconciling bank statements to accounts today, still the sun is out so will take the dog out for a walk again, although must slow it down as felt uncomfortable when walking yesterday, sure that didn't happen until later on last time.

debinaustria · 13/02/2008 10:26

Sophie - Good luck with the accounts, that's the business ironing done - 13 quilt covers and pillowcases, just our things to do now, but that can wait.

Dylansmum - any chance of an afternoon nap for you today?

Morning all,

Had my 24 week GP appt yesterday evening - all fine - she said the heartbeat was good, my BP was good (why am I still dizzy all the time then?!) and womb is in the right place. So that should stop my DP worrying about the smallest thing until the next appt in 4 weeks. She has prescribed some Gaviscon for my constant heartburn though, as I had to sleep sitting up last night it was so bad.

Good luck to all doing ironing - it is one of the things I try to save until the weekend when DP is out and I can watch a re-run of something like Inspector Morse! No matter how many I think I've seen, I still find there are some that are new to me

Is anyone doing anything for V Day tomorrow? DP and I are going out to our favourite restaurant (nothing posh - just a burger place - but the BEST burgers ever!) and then I am going to make him a knickerbocker glory as a surprise. Which means I need to go and buy a couple of those tall glasses with long spoons at lunchtime today

Rolf · 13/02/2008 11:08

Blimey Sophie and Deb, you put my to shame with my slovenliness.

I have a baby bjorn and loved it for the boys but DD and I just couldn't get on with it. I'm hoping to borrow one of those sideways ones and see how that is. But I suspect that my stomach/back just aren't up to the job now.

sophiewd · 13/02/2008 11:12

Nothing for Valentines day as it is my birthday next week and would prefer to do somethhing for that. I do have my scan tomorrow so at least something nice is happening.

debinaustria · 13/02/2008 11:22

Not doing anything special for Valentines here, but will go out when Mil is over so she can babysit.
