@Skylark1990 I'd say Aw-rell-ia but maybe it's one of those Aaron (Arron vs Airon) type names that depends on your accent too. The pronunciations aren't too different, at least.

Indianna2006 · 07/11/2022 17:32

Had my 16 week appointment but said they wouldn’t listen to heartbeat as not policy. Doesn’t help for anxiety after losses 😩😩

now need to decide if I pay out for earlier gender scan. We were waiting until 29 weeks to find out at anomaly scan.

but not sure if 4 weeks is a long time to sit uneasy as I’m not sure I’ve felt them. A few things perhaps but can’t be certain. An nothing obvious like a massive kick I can see. And it is second baby.

xalexandra · 07/11/2022 17:37

@Indianna2006 I've got my 16 week appt on Wednesday and I said if I hear the heartbeat then I won't get a private scan. But if they don't listen to heartbeat then I'll get a private scan between now and 20 weeks. I had a previous loss but can see both points as to why they do and don't listen to the heartbeat. For me, this is my first successful pregnancy after a miscarriage so if they listened to the heartbeat and couldn't seem to find it for no particular reason then it would stress me out and I would just assume something bad has happened! But then on the other side, If they don't bother listening at all then it's just seems a long to wait for some more reassurance! X

Indianna2006 · 07/11/2022 17:52

@xalexandra agreed. I understand why they don’t. Altho precious midwives have told me it was mainly because larger ladies it can be hard to find earlier on. As they have more obscuring the sound. But I am tiny. So I’m certain she could of found it.

sigh. Best I speak to DH tonight I think an see what he says. If I’d felt movement think I’d be okay with not hearing it. I keep feeling odd flutterings but just not certain it is them. As my DD was an obvious kick at 18 weeks. So maybe a little early for me as I know there all diff.

just so anxiety provoking isn’t it

KennAdams · 07/11/2022 17:52

@Skylark1990 Aurelia is lovely. I'd love that but DP vetoed it. 🙄

I had my 16 week appt today at 17 weeks, the MW couldn't take my blood so I now have to trek over to the hospital at some point this week to do it. She did say she'd have a listen if I want to but did say not to worry if she couldn't find it. As it happens she did find it. I did tell her I'd used a home doppler and was told to obviously be careful and not to rely on them. Just a bit of fun were her words, which I completely get and agree with.

Gilm0reGirl · 07/11/2022 18:21

@Skylark1990 AwHugo is one of our two boy names if it's a boy, so I'm biased but I do love it.

Im very much feeling the 💖 girl vibes for this one now though and we've got 2 girl names we love to choose from, at the moment I am happy with either and it's DH choice as our first DD has my favourite name choice. I get the impression it'll be decided when they are here though, even if we found out the gender I don't think we could pick ahead of time as DH loves our boy and girl names so can't pick a favourite.

Skylark1990 · 07/11/2022 18:36

@Gilm0reGirl @KennAdams it's tricky because the new name also needs to match previous child/children's names! E.g., is it appropriate to give new baby a really elaborate 4 syllable name when first child only has a 2 syllable one? Haha I don't know 😅
I remembered another boy name we put on our shortlist - Alasdair - so I do think we have boys names sorted - it's just the girls!

MamaMenna · 07/11/2022 19:47

Boys names are usually harder, there seem fewer to choose from, but I also had a potential name for a boy and no clear winner for a girl. I tied myself in knots for a few days trying to find the 'one' but am now having a breather and hoping it finds me. I had a moment with Celina, Cece for short, but I think there would be too much confusion that it wasn't Selena, which wouldn't shorten to Cece, so I think I have to give up on it. A shame because I like it a lot.

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/11/2022 20:15

It’s so difficult to choose! One name was just way too similar to DD’s, another one rhymed with our surname 😳 😂 but I think we have 2 favourites and will see which one suits her when she’s born.

Just got back from my relaxation class, gosh it was loooooovely having an hour to breathe in some nice smelling oils and not have to do the bedtime routine! The teacher also does hypnobirthing classes which I think I will now go to.

@MamaMenna what about Celia or Cecilia? Could do cece as a nickname for those!

@Cuppasoupmonster that sounds divine, I am Hoping to do a pregnancy relaxation and yoga course in Jan 💞

Erber · 07/11/2022 21:47

Just marking my place on the new thread. We haven't even started thinking about names yet! We're very bad at naming babies. Both my others weren't named until they were 5 days old! Although they were both born a little early so we thought we had more time.

cata09x · 07/11/2022 21:50

I'm due my first on the 21st April - unexpected but very excited☺️

LauraA31 · 08/11/2022 05:06

Morning ladies, very early morning at that! Had a terrible night sleep!!

Boyfriend seems to have caught my extreme cold from last week, he woke up and said ‘this is horrible how did you do this with no medication!’ told him to go back to sleep 😂
Worried about catching something else now, but i keep telling myself i have already had it and hopefully won’t get anything else 🤞🏻
He is banished to the bedroom to recover in bed, and im only sleeping in there with the window nearest me open (he’s red hot anyway!)

Going to nip out today to try and find one of the recommended pregnancy pillows, see if it helps me sleep a bit longer and more comfortable.. woke up twice last night on my back!
Got my quad test this afternoon and then midwife appointment tomorrow, then we are on the countdown to finding out if we are having a boy or girl!!

DBS94 · 08/11/2022 07:47

@LauraA31 I got my pregnancy pillow from Amazon and it was the best purchase ever!! It's staying forever 🤣 stops me from rolling onto my back as much too which is a bonus.

Those of you who have felt movement, where in your stomach have you felt it? I've been getting flutters this morning but fairly low down, one just under my bellow button and the other about an inch above my pubic bone to my right

MamaMenna · 08/11/2022 07:53

@Skylark1990 I really like Cecilia and love the Simon and Garfunkel song, but my reasons for not picking it are that it's a family name and I want dd to have a name that's just hers in the top spot, plus it means 'blind' and that puts me off. It's so hard to find something that ticks all the boxes!

Lid88 · 08/11/2022 08:32

Placemarking! will catch up when I get rid of this horrendous cold - FML!

Margo34 · 08/11/2022 08:45

@ancienthouse yes it was me that mentioned cheeky wipes and ours not lasting, ours are 2.5yrs regular use and very threadbare. I wonder when and why they changed them then? I must have just missed the old batches when I bought them.

@Skylark1990 we have similar name lists! Aurelia is lovely and on my name list but friend has used it now so that's out for us! Friend uses the nickname 'Elia'

I think an 'ah/a' name ending would go well with my DC1. I also have on my list Alba or Matilda for girl and for a boy Sebastian, Wilfred, Wilbur. I'd love Hugo but know another so can't use it! Help me out with girls and boys name that ain't end in the 'ee' sound please!

Springblooms08 · 08/11/2022 09:06

I’m really struggling with names for our boy too! Names that end in R sounds don’t really go with our surname, but I find I like a lot of them 😂

I like Theodore (nn Teddy) but I know it’s v v popular!

Longbin · 08/11/2022 09:34

Is anyone else finding it really hard to continue working because they just can't concentrate properly and keep making stupid mistakes? I'm thinking of starting maternity leave earlier because I can't seem to do my job properly anymore

SavedByGraceAlone · 08/11/2022 09:42

Hi all! Did everyone have their jabs (flu and whopping cough) already? How were your reactions? I've never had a flu jab before, so not sure what to expect! Also are they both okay to get done at the same time?

And for those who are on blood thinning daily injections, did you consult with your GP/midwife first before getting the jabs?

Sorry, so many questions! Xxx

Springblooms08 · 08/11/2022 09:59

@SavedByGraceAlone I had my flu jab last week and didn’t have any side effects at all, bar a slightly numb arm. I’ve had a scan since then as well so I know baby boy is all good! My midwife recommended to get the whopping cough jab at the same time or after 20 week scan

alwaysseeingstars · 08/11/2022 10:06

@Longbin absolutely, I'm usually really good at juggling many different things but at the moment I'm struggling to concentrate on even one! It's really difficult to explain to people too which doesn't help.

@SavedByGraceAlone I've had my flu jab (no issues there but get it every year anyway), have my Covid jab on Thursday and will book in whooping cough when I'm told I can. I'm on dalteparin blood thinning injections and both the GP and midwife have said this should have no effect on the jabs and to definitely have them 😊

Longbin · 08/11/2022 10:11

@alwaysseeingstars me too, my job requires juggling a lot of tasks but now I can't seem to do anything right! I thought it was tiredness but it doesn't seem to be getting any better 😫

Skylark1990 · 08/11/2022 10:12

@Margo34 those are lovely names, Alba on our list too!

I was thinking the cheeky wipes perhaps it depends on which ones you get (cotton or microfiber) and whether you tumble dry, hot wash etc? Ours are about 2 years old and still going strong, we don't have a dryer so always line dry and we usually wash the wipes at 40 or 60 degrees.... Who knows! Perhaps there are just sometimes dud batches!

Skylark1990 · 08/11/2022 10:13

We got a mix of cotton and microfiber and both seem ok still.
