Hi ladies - stressful few days for me - lost some blood Thursday night and ended up in the EPAC at midnight. Absolute panic stations. Cervix is closed and nothing obvious on the scan though other than the sonographer accidentally revealing he's definitely a boy - though we knew that anyway haha

Relief but also absolutely exhausted I've barely slept

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/11/2022 18:32

Congrats 💙 on your little boy @Springblooms08 !!

@Melissa2023 how stressful 😔 how are you feeling this evening? The human body is so odd, there’s no rhyme or reason for a lot of what happens but it’s very stressful for us.

Well, on Monday I’m officially halfway to my goal of 37 weeks 🎉 I’m a little apprehensive about having another early baby (memories of jaundice and reflux are coming back to me 🙄) but it seems to have flown by. I submitted my form for maternity leave the other day and my last day at work will be 3rd March! So all being well a couple of weeks off to do some nesting then put my feet up.

@Springblooms08 congrats on your boy! 💙

@Melissa2023 & @LauraA31 sounds like you've both had a bit of a week...hope you are having a relaxing weekend 💐

Springblooms08 · 05/11/2022 20:26

Thank you ladies!! Feels so lovely to know. I had no strong feeling either way of what we were having@Gilm0reGirl but very happy to be having a little boy!

The sonographer was pressing down so hard it actually hurt quite a bit haha. Feel like my tummy is still sore!

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/11/2022 20:54

@Springblooms08 when the midwife used the Doppler on me yesterday she pushed REALLY hard, left me in a bit of pain actually. All fine though, I was surprised they do it that hard!

Springblooms08 · 05/11/2022 21:38

@Cuppasoupmonster it’s weird isn’t it!! My lower tummy still feels really tender and the scan was this morning!

Sparklesocks · 05/11/2022 23:00

Feeling much better today after upset stomach yesterday but I’m getting full so quickly when I eat! A bit frustrating as I’ll be starving then full up after a few bites. Thought I’d enjoy food more now I’m 16 weeks and the sickness is gone. The joys of pregnancy 😄

lj2022 · 05/11/2022 23:34

@LauraA31 yesss omg that's exact same as me I've always been between a back and side sleeper but mostly side and it's now like I want to sleep on my back even though I'm now allowed. So many people have told me not to worry and just sleep on my back and I know I can get away with it a little while longer but I know in the 3rd trimester I really need to side sleep. Have you tried a pillow between your knees/legs I feel that's helping with my hip and pelvic pain when side sleeping.

Also I hope you're feeling okay sounds like a tough worrying few days for you and remember any concerns just give EPU a phone and advocate for yourself but as you said you seem to be getting to know your body's pattern. Hope you're alright

@Tropicana1 omg that sounds like it was a sore one. I think that sounds like round ligament pain it happened to me similar when I turned quickly in bed and I freaked out but a friend reassured me that was round ligament pain and after looking it up I think she was right. It's not easy worrying about all these unusual things out body's are doing

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/11/2022 23:38

Second+ time mums, when did your last baby turn head down? Did they stay that way?

Marshmallowmountain · 06/11/2022 00:15

I thought the other thread had gone quiet 😂 how everyone is doing okay. 15 and a half weeks and have had sickness back with a vengeance this week. Hoping it eases soon!

PiggyBean · 06/11/2022 08:19

@Springblooms08 congratulations 💙
@Cuppasoupmonster the nurse was firm with the Doppler but not too hard. My 12 week scan felt worse though felt so tender after 😅

chasingtherainbow1 · 06/11/2022 09:27

Just joining back on. Think I missed the entire last thread lol. Quick update, we found out we're having a girl, due 04 April. Currently 19 weeks and still not feeling any movement, I don't think anyway. It's my first so maybe that's why?

My boobs are huge and so is my tummy! Although I imagined half of that is probably food 😂

Margo34 · 06/11/2022 10:07

Oh here you all are! I'm so far behind, haven't read much since pg32 of the last thread 🙈 although I'm loving the reusable nappy chat at the start of this thread - I have used them from hospital onwards with DC1 and loved them. I don't rate Cheeky Wipes though, ours haven't lasted and are totally threadbare.

@Cuppasoupmonster can't remember exactly when baby went head down but I did write in my diary when I was 36w that baby was definitely head down, that's the only time I noted it though but must have happened a little before then.

I'm feeling more excited about baby now, after an emotional week telling family and friends - think I was partly grieving for the babies I lost to MC earlier this year at the same time as telling people, think it must have been like another step further away from them whilst not forgetting them at the same time, of that makes sense? Anyway I'm feeling much better and less anxious currently, pretty sure I've been feeling baby move a little too which is nice and reassuring.

Margo34 · 06/11/2022 10:08

One of the children in my Reception class said on Friday - "Miss, your tummy is really big. Why is your tummy so big?" and I said "oh I must have had a.big breakfast!" So them the child told her friends that Miss had a big breakfast while my TAs were cracking up 🤣

Chocolat · 06/11/2022 10:18

Thanks for the reassurance all @lj2022 yes the sharp pains are either side of lower abdomen so most likely round ligament pain.
The pains yesterday also turned into wind/gas pain which I think contributed 🤣. All gone today.

im also having trouble with sleep. Currently preferring to lie on my back which isn’t great. Last night tried to spend it on my left side the whole night but was so uncomfortable, need to learn to use my pregnancy pillow better. Also prefer to be on my right side which is just typical.

@chasingtherainbow1 im also 19 weeks tomorrow 🤯 and have felt absolutely nothing! I’m also a FTM.

and the body changes are crazy. I’ve noticed them particularly this week. Almost growing out of my bra which I never imagined 😂. And feel like my belly is growing daily but also still thinking it’s mainly food 😂

Springblooms08 · 06/11/2022 10:19

Happy Sunday ladies, hope everyone has a nice relaxed day ahead. Has anybody star d making a list of what clothes you’ll be getting for baby? I wasn’t sure what would be right to get for an April baby as it’ll soon be summer…any thoughts gratefully received!

Skylark1990 · 06/11/2022 10:29

Hey everyone, nice to hear your updates and glad you are all well! But sorry to hear about the bleeding again @LauraA31, hopefully it stops soon! At least you know it's "normal" for you. ❤️

I'm doing pretty good although still having stomach pain unrelated to baby, have had a test done at the doctor to see if there's any ongoing bacteria in there, after an infection I had earlier in the year. Hopefully not! Once we know need to decide on treatment. Might have to try omeprazole again for a few weeks to help my stomach heal...

😕 I'd really rather not as it didn't sit well last time plus would like to avoid meds in pregnancy where I can, but at least I'm second trimester now I guess. And it seems to be safe. Anyone else on it? For now I am eating v boring food to try to lessen stomach acid.

Feeling baby move more and more which is lovely. 18+2 today.

@Cuppasoupmonster I can't remember when she went head down and stayed down. I think it was in the third trimester some time. I think by 34 weeks or so she was, I think at my 36 week appointment my midwife said she was and relatively engaged (which made me excited that maybe labour would be soon but it was another 5.5 weeks away 😂)

@Springblooms08 I would get lots of cotton baby grows (best, t shirt and long sleeved), leggings and sleep suits and you can layer as appropriate, plus a couple of woollen cardigans and jumpers, hats, socks, scratch mits. Go for natural fibers to help regulate baby's temperature! X

Skylark1990 · 06/11/2022 10:31

*vests

Longbin · 06/11/2022 11:15

@Springblooms08 I have mainly got vests and sleepsuits, couple of dungerees, 2 pramsuits, cardigan, bonds wondercools incase it'a hot, few pairs of socks. I have more of a variety in 3-6 as thought even though it will be summer I will probably be out more including early mornings when it can still be chilly

Tubbytele · 06/11/2022 11:29

Good morning all, I hope you're all doing well.

@Cuppasoupmonster I can't remember specifically when baby went head down but I think it was around the time I started losing my mucus plug around 35 weeks. I remember the midwife saying something in my 36 week appt.

What are everyone's personal thoughts on dying hair while pregnant? I'm so confused what to do. I never did during my first pregnancy but most of that was during lockdown so didn't think much of it.

Springblooms08 · 06/11/2022 11:33

Fab, thank you @Skylark1990 and @Longbin - I shall start making a list!

Margo34 · 06/11/2022 11:38

@Springblooms08 a selection of vests, short and long sleeved, baby grows, leggings, also some cardigans/hoodie layers and some t-shirts for layering. Plus a few socks.

April weather can be so unpredictable, it's my DH birthday in April and we've celebrated his birthday in every weather from shorts and t-shirts and a picnic to scarves and gloves in the snow!! Crazy climate change for sure!!

@Tubbytele I've never dyed my hair and wouldn't personally during pregnancy either, but if your body is already use to it and the chemicals involved then I might consider doing it - hard for me to say though. Could you get it restyled/nice new cut if you're anxious about dying it and conscious of roots showing etc?

tattlytote · 06/11/2022 11:39

@Skylark1990 I'm on PRN Omeprazole for hiatus hernia and GORD, have cut it right down during pregnancy but take a tablet maybe once a week. Wouldn't have qualms about taking more if needed. Hope you feel better soon.

chasingtherainbow1 · 06/11/2022 12:12

@Chocolat that's reassuring, glad it isn't just me who has not felt anything yet. I know the midwife says it's normal but it panics me when everyone else can feel something. And yes the belly is part human baby part food baby 😂

Got my next scan on 15th November and it can't come quick enough. Feel like I need to know everything is ok after stopping f my progesterone at 16 weeks. Tempted for a private one but I know it's stupid when my nhs one is so soon

Longbin · 06/11/2022 13:30

@Tubbytele getting mine done next week! With my first I was barely allowed to do anything after having IVF and some complications, hair dying was one thing they said was okay for me to do
