@Cuppasoupmonster oh wow how confusing for you. Totally understand the getting attached to the daughter you thought you were getting. We all just want a healthy baby. But once you know what they are you do begin to get attached.

again I did see 99% accuracy rate for sex on it. But same as for scans. There are also small errors and the room for it to be wrong. And perhaps you are just that more percent more than likely to a there being some other issue.

certain it’s just a healthy baby boy instead 🤞🏼💙

AliceinSlumberland · 22/11/2022 16:20

@Cuppasoupmonster sounds silly but was he absolutely definitely a boy in the 20 week scan? Couldn’t have been umbilical cord or leg?

Hannah223344 · 22/11/2022 16:25

@Cuppasoupmonster @Skylark1990 sorry to hear your scans haven't been as reassuring as you'd hope - sending positive vibes and fingers crossed you get answers asap!

@AliceinSlumberland I'm same as you, 18+4 and minuscule movements so far too!

She seemed fairly certain and it did look very boyish to me as well. She also got someone else to check who said boy, and they spent a bit of time ‘making sure’. Here’s my 15 week potty shot (they didn’t comment on the sex then and I know less likely to be accurate!) but it looked completely different to what I saw today.

@Cuppasoupmonster I'm so sorry that your scan has also raised questions and hasn't been entirely reassuring. What a huge shock!! Surely the nipt was just wrong in a strange one in a million thing.... I really hope you get some more definite answers asap. Maybe they accidentally mixed up your blood results with someone else.... Which isn't entirely reassuring I know, but could explain it. How confusing. It's really good that baby is otherwise all healthy, and I'm sure if intersex as others have said it would be less clear on the scan?
I'm glad they are doing a redraw and scan tomorrow. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks everyone for your kind words 😌 work was ok today and a good distraction. I'm feeling a bit less sad and worried. Just hoping the scan next week is good news or at least not bad news!

AliceinSlumberland · 22/11/2022 18:08

Hmm that 15 week scan I think could be either… so hard to see. This was my 17 week potty shot and it’s clear as day what he is 😂

Evening everyone,

Just having a read through now, and I’m really sorry to hear of those of you whose scans have left them more anxious than before. Sending you love from over here in Wales and I’ve got everything crossed you get the answers you’re seeking ASAP. ❤️

Re movements: I’ve had the odd kick here and there, and the other morning I felt our baby kicking for a solid couple of minutes, but only because I sleep on my stomach. A few random kicks here and there, but nothing consistent at the moment, so I too think “should I be feeling more kicks?” reassuring to know we are all feeling the same.

Hope you all have a lovely evening xx

bluebubbles12 · 22/11/2022 21:26

@Cuppasoupmonster wow that must be messing with your head right now! 🤯 glad baby is looking healthy though. Don't feel like you need to comment on this if you don't want to reveal too much about yourself, but there is a condition which can be seen in Asian males (but still very rare) where they are male but their DNA is XX (female) rather than the usual XY for male. I don't know much about the condition itself, I just know from my work that this is possible in the DNA. So if you're Asian then this could be something to consider. I hope you get answers either way very soon!!

Cuppasoupmonster · 22/11/2022 22:11

Yep, feels a bit like a dream/nightmare tbh. Just want clarity either way, and a healthy baby 😢 me and DH are both white British

Thank you for the advice about the concert! I think my biggest concern is now covid from there rather than the noise, told the sister id wear a mask and she was less than impressed 😂😂

Ladies who have had their hair coloured recently; do any of you have a toner and did your hairdresser do one this time? I need a toner when i have my colour done because i go very blonde but im now worried about toner because it is just painted on.. my highlights don’t touch my scalp but the toner does.

Mummy256 · 23/11/2022 09:10

#Cuppasoupmonster sorry to hear about your scan. Hope they will sort everything for you soon. Hugs.

Just wanted to ask have any of you lovely ladies had covid during pregnancy? If yes, how did you feel?
Few of my daughter's friends tested positive in the last few days. I'm worried that she will bring it home as well as they are all mixing at school.
Contacted my midwife asking for advice but she wasn't very helpful. I'm 20 weeks now.

BeingHappy · 23/11/2022 09:25

Hi @Mummy256

I haven't had COVID myself but early on in my pregnancy I had to have paramedics round for some issues I was having with breathing/a chronic cough. They told me anecdotally during the pandemic they saw lots of heavily pregnant women with COVID and it wasn't so much of a threat to the baby (the biggest threat was lack of oxygen if their lungs weren't able to supply it better, but then they were all given extra oxygen if they needed it). And they said the COVID symptoms affected the mum more than the baby eg. When coughing, pelvic girdle pains were excruciating...

Also, a friend of mine had quite bad COVID for three weeks in the early stages of her pregnancy, she just had her 12 week scan and all was healthy and OK.

BeingHappy · 23/11/2022 09:28

@RackJussells totally empathise.. I'm now 21 weeks and still not sure if what I'm feeling is the bubs moving. And if that is the baby moving then it's moving very infrequently. My 20 week scan was all healthy but in the scan the baby was described as being very stubborn 😅 as they refused to move even when the nurse got me to jiggle and shake about.

I'm also posterior so beginning to feel a tiny bit worried. I am a little on the big side though so I am wondering whether that could be the reason...

BeingHappy · 23/11/2022 09:34

Many thanks @lj2022 for the advice! I will chase up and hopefully be seen soon.

I am beginning to feel like things midwife-wise haven't been great for me. I've never met my midwife because she wasn't able to make my booking appointment and my friend, also pregnant, has a direct mobile that she can use to message her midwife at any time. I've just got a generic number for the reception at the birth centre. I was also down to have my bloods tested for NIPT but that hasn't happened either.. I think if I don't chase up, then I don't get booked in for the appointments. Much like what happened with my GTT.. they were convinced I wouldn't need it, despite it being highlighted in my booking appointment 😩

Cuppasoupmonster · 23/11/2022 12:26

Hi ladies. Ive had a very stressful/emotional morning. I’m angry the hospital sent us home yesterday with talk of ‘rare chromosomal conditions’ but didn’t arrange a follow up or tell me what to expect. I have to phone the switchboard repeatedly today to get through to anybody.

The manager of the scanning clinic phoned back eventually and said she wants us to wait for the outcome of the NIPT redraw before potentially doing anything. I explained I’ve got no confidence in the test now, if it was wrong last time why wouldn’t it be wrong this time? I’m to phone them with the results of the NIPT and ‘take it from there’ but seriously why bother? Nothing they say will reassure me now.

I asked if the scan could have been wrong but she said they got lots of very clear images, she’s reviewed them herself and baby looks definitely to be a boy.

My biggest worry is that the NIPT comes back female again and it’s indicative of some kind of rare chromosome condition. At that point I will be 21 weeks 😔 and have no idea what my options will be or what to expect.

I can’t believe this is happening to me. I was so happy to be expecting my little girl a few days ago and now this.

I'm so sorry for what's happening @Cuppasoupmonster ...I really hope it's their end that's messed up. I've worked in research labs before with only very little experience in NHS labs, but I do know things can get disorganised and mislabelled. It's bad but I feel like that's more likely than the rare condition they're talking about. Would it be possible to do a NIPT privately? That way you would have three sets of results to compare?

Sending lots of love your way xx

Cuppasoupmonster · 23/11/2022 13:56

Thanks @BeingHappy it was a private lab we went through - Ultrasound Direct using the Vision test which is the shiny newest one.

lj2022 · 23/11/2022 14:01

@Cuppasoupmonster I'm so sorry for what you're going through. The stress is unfair to you and baby. Hope you get answers ASAP. When will your results of this NIPT be available ?

lj2022 · 23/11/2022 14:05

Had my 20 week scan today and feeling very happy that everything is looking well. To go back in 3 weeks just due to the position of the baby and not being able to get a good full image of the heart from a certain angle but she said she had no concerns from what she could see. Gives me a breath of relief especially after loosing our niece we both feel very on edge with all appointments worried about something going wrong. Also liking that I'll see baby again in a few weeks.

Also they haven't played the heartbeat to me at either of my NHS scans is this normal or do you need to ask ?

Skylark1990 · 23/11/2022 14:10

@Cuppasoupmonster it's not fair at all, I really hope you get some answers asap. Honestly, I'm sure it's just that the nipt was wrong. It can happen! I just found this blog for example mommyinwaiting.com/nipt-got-the-gender-of-my-baby-wrong/

I think sometimes there isn't enough boy DNA if the test is earlyish.

Anyway, sending you a big hug! I am sure you'll get an answer soon. I think it sounds like it's a lovely boy and nipt was just on this occasion wrong... Probably due to human error. Let us know how it goes today xx

Skylark1990 · 23/11/2022 14:11

@lj2022 congratulations on a healthy scan, that's a relief!

They don't usually play the heartbeat at NHS scans. A midwife or consultant can do it with a Doppler tho if you ask!

Skylark1990 · 23/11/2022 14:13

Also perhaps the hospital could also do nipt to compare results?

It would be so so so so Unlikely to be wrong twice or 3 times.

So you have it from them and also the private clinic? Although not sure they would offer this as it wasn't their test to begin with... Worth a shot tho.

lj2022 · 23/11/2022 14:14

@Skylark1990 aw Thankyou I wasn't sure if that was normal or not since it's my first. I'm not too concerned about hearing it anyway as long as I can see it which all looked good. Will wait until my 4d as the clinic I go to let you hear the heartbeat so not overly fussed

BeingHappy · 23/11/2022 14:15

Oh gosh @Cuppasoupmonster I really hope they sort out this mess soon, so much unnecessary stress for you.

@lj2022 every scan I've been to the heartbeat was played, although when I compared my 12 week scan notes to my 20 week scan notes I noticed it was only recorded on the 12 week notes and I have no idea what the heart rate is for the 20 week one.

Also on a similar note, some people here have very different images from their scans from what I've been given (mine are just blurry keepsakes) but seems like some of you get specific 'potty shots'. I don't know if that's because that's what they requested or just what they've been given.

lj2022 · 23/11/2022 14:18

@BeingHappy I think it must depend on your area/hospital it wasn't until after I was thinking should I have heard the heartbeat.

Also I have potty shots and lots of images from my private scans but NHS it definitely looks to be get what you're given and more of the face but doesn't bother me since I've had 2 private scans and lots and lots of images
