@SprinGarden Congratulations 💐💖

Chocolat · 21/11/2022 13:09

Good luck for all the scans this week! It really is a nerve racking time, I had a mini heart attack whenever the sonographer said ‘erm’ and then followed it up by ‘that’s fine’ 😂

I also bought the BBHug me pillow it’s really comfortable and if you cuddle it with your arms put your legs between it and ankles on it, it actually does help in stopping you rolling onto your back.

Jexi · 21/11/2022 13:09

@SVC11 make yourself comfortable. 😌

Jexi · 21/11/2022 13:55

Somebody delete my vinted app 😂🙈

ancienthouse · 21/11/2022 14:37

@Jexi I'm buying all of DS Christmas presents on Vinted, it's so great for toys! So much cheaper than buying new, even for nice wooden ones.

Hi everyone,
Just stopping by to say hi and brilliant news about all the 20 week scans!

This thread moves so fast and I’m so slow 😂

I have my 20 week scan in December on the 9th.
As I sleep on my stomach I felt the baby kicking on Sunday morning early hours, which was nice and made up for the fact I was knackered yet couldn’t sleep!

My ailments have been pains in my thighs, I can only describe them as hot/cold, tingling, numb pins and needles. I only go for a bowel movement every 4 days and when I do go it’s incredibly painful! (TMI sorry) last few days I’ve been able to go every other day-ish, but still painful.

Nipples are always extremely sore and painful, and when I take my bra off and it unpeels from my chest it makes my eyes water!

Food aversion is still strong and what I want one minute, an hour later I find disgusting!

I hope you’re all well and I look forward to checking in again soon xx

Skylark1990 · 21/11/2022 16:13

Hey guys. Had the scan and everything looks healthy, except one of baby's kidneys is slightly enlarged so I have a follow up scan with the specialist consultant in a week. I have to admit I found this really upsetting and still feeling emotional, I was really hoping the scan would provide me with reassurance and confidence etc, especially after my previous losses. I am grateful and really glad everything else looks ok but I just feel like this pregnancy has been one hard thing after another.

They've reassured me that it's only borderline enlarged and that it is most likely nothing to worry about but they'll check everything again in a week. Just feeling really exhausted now and hoping I feel better tomorrow and my mind doesn't jump to the worst case scenario all the time.

Cuppasoupmonster · 21/11/2022 16:16

@Skylark1990 sending you an unmumsnetty hug. Absolutely not what you need when already anxious, even though it sounds like they’re pretty confident it’s nothing. It’s good they’re having you back in a week although I’m sure it will drag now. Feel free to PM if you ever need a rant, anxiety is the pits! Good news though that everything else looked healthy xx 😘

Sorry to hear your scan wasn’t as reassuring as we’d all like to see at our 20 week @Skylark1990 , it’s good that it was only borderline and that everything else looked great but I can completely empathise how worrying it must have been to be told something isn’t quite right. I’m glad they are going to keep an eye on it and 🤞🏻 your next scan shows everything looking ok.

AliceinSlumberland · 21/11/2022 18:07

Oh @Skylark1990 thats such a worry, but like others have said fingers crossed in a weeks time you’ll be all reassured and everything will be okay. I’ve actually heard of a lot of people needing further checks after 20 week scan, I think they’re super cautious and have a better safe than sorry approach. Everything crossed for you next week and I hope your little girl is feeling okay.

Sending you a big hug @Skylark1990- that sounds tough. Completely understand how all you want is to be reassured - especially after losses - and this must feel like a blow. Hope the second scan finds nothing wrong, will pray for you right now lovely. Xx

Chocolat · 21/11/2022 19:14

Oh @Skylark1990 sending hugs and prayers. I’m sure everything will end up fine, but I can imagine the stress. It’s good that everything else was ok though. Hopefully you will get your reassurance soon

solosunflower · 21/11/2022 19:27

Lovely news @SprinGarden

Sorry you didn't receive the 100% reassurance that you wanted. Hopefully next week will clear everything up. @Skylark1990

solosunflower · 21/11/2022 19:30

Has anyone managed to make any mum friends away from the internet? I've tried joining facebook groups, but getting nowhere with that.

Longbin · 21/11/2022 19:42

@solosunflower peanut is good. I struggled to meet people at baby groups as people already knew each other from NCT groups

solosunflower · 21/11/2022 19:59

I did think about that, but I've not read a lot of feedback on here. Have you used the app?

I looked at the NCT course. There's one in my area February time, but I doubt I'll be able to afford it.

I'm a solo mum and it does feel quite isolating at times.

PiggyBean · 21/11/2022 21:04

@SprinGarden congratulations 💕

@Skylark1990 hopefully follow up scan will be all good 🤞

I'm having bad back pain recently so finally started using my bbghugme pillow. Helps keeps me on my side during the night.

Longbin · 21/11/2022 21:48

@solosunflower yes I used it when I had my daughter and met a few mums on there (in London). It might be less commonly used in other areas though. Everyone I know who did NCT has met a good group of friends from it

Tubbytele · 21/11/2022 22:04

@Skylark1990hope you're feeling better, sending you a hug from here. They seem quite confident with it being borderline and you have the extra scan to recheck. I know these words do not ease the anxiety in your heart right now but do try to relax and take it easy, it's great that everything else was all good. How's your little girl feeling?

Good luck for everyone else's scan this week and congrats to those who have already had theirs. Waiting for mine taking place on 30th nov. Having more kicks now which I'm really glad for, but only can feel from the inside, not the outside. Hope everyone else is doing well.

BeingHappy · 22/11/2022 00:47

Lots of hugs and prayers @Skylark1990 I hope all goes well with the appointment next week 🤗

@Cuppasoupmonster I'm on 150mg aspirin. Because I have a BMI of 36 I am at risk of high blood pressure and preeclampsia. I've been a bit rubbish taking it at the same time everyday though. I'm hoping it won't be too much of an issue.

I really wanted to love my bbhugme but have a bit of a love/hate relationship with mine... I think the hate is mostly because I am having uncomfortable nights regardless. And also sometimes my boobs/nipples are so sensitive and sore I can't hug it like I want to.

Updates on my symptoms: boobs leaked a bit for the first time today and I have no idea what the little wet thing on my t-shirt was and blamed DH for it and said he didn't dry his hands.properly after coming from the loo and had wet my shirt... It just happened again and given he's fast asleep next to me, the penny finally dropped.

Also, my little anxiety at the mo is that although my placenta is posterior, I am still not sure I've felt the baby move. I'm 21 weeks as of today. Bubs moved very little in the scan last week but everything (measurements, heartbeat etc) measured normal so I don't know. I am a bit on the big side so maybe that's why.. but I read posterior mums usually feel the baby soonest.

All the best everyone for any upcoming scans and hope everyone is as comfy as they can be! xx

BeingHappy · 22/11/2022 00:56

Also wanted to add I got my whooping cough vaccine and flu jab last week and my arm hurt for a couple of days.

And I have hideous heartburn at the moment. It's been relentless. And a new pain in my coccyx.. and the usual nausea and exhaustion is still all there. I also need to get better with my pelvic floor exercises as I am still leaking a tiny bit every time I cough/sneeze.

Pregnant women are the world's greatest heroes, they deal with SO much and still run the show so well. I'm especially amazed by everyone who already has little ones and juggling all their pregnancy symptoms in tandem xx

Peachesthecat · 22/11/2022 06:32

@Skylark1990 Morning all, sorry you are stressed skylark I would be exactly the same. When I was pregnant with my eldest they picked up in the 20 week scan enlarged kidneys (long long time ago but something like renal dilation or something - wasn’t emptying properly) anyway I like you went I to anxiety mode (of course!) we had lots of extra scans (which was lovely) and was told she may need some monitering when born but in most cases it’s resolves itself before birth which my daughters did. Sorry for the rambling I just wanted to share and say the likelihood is it will all be absolutely fine ❤️❤️

Peachesthecat · 22/11/2022 06:34

Should add at the same scan they also found cysts on her brain!!! Also completely resolved by birth and she was a healthy little baby xxx
