@PuddingBear yes I am too 😥 really bad Pgp, it started in my hips and is now also in my left leg. So painful to walk a lot of the time. I read some stuff about it and if you have Pgp too we need to try not to lift heavy stuff and loads of various other things. I am seeing a physio and she worked some magic on Fri so yesterday was good but today it went really bad again. Not sure what to do as physio is £50 a pop and so it adds up! I had to go twice last week! Gonna try get a referral from GP / midwife for an NHS one.

PuddingBear · 20/11/2022 21:11

@Skylark1990 Sorry you’re suffering too 😞

We can’t afford a private physio unfortunately but my midwife did say she could refer me if it got worse, which it now has.

I was a little sceptical as they “referred” me to a physio in my first pregnancy but it was in the middle of lockdown so just a phone call which was absolutely useless. Basically “don’t hoover” and “don’t lift”. Didn’t help me at all as I’m tiny so can’t lift anything heavy anyway 😅

Good to know yours worked though, that gives me hope!

AliceinSlumberland · 20/11/2022 21:52

Sorry to hear you’re suffering @Skylark1990 and @PuddingBear , @I’m starting to get quite a bit of hip pain which is a bit of a worry at this stage. Tends to be fine if I spend most of the day sat down but if I try and walk/exercise I pay do it. Tried a support band but it made it much worse. Don’t want to give up on activity all together but equally conscious of it getting worse. My hot water bottle is my best friend atm.

Cuppasoupmonster · 20/11/2022 22:09

Is anyone else on low dose aspirin?

OP posts:
PuddingBear · 20/11/2022 22:11

@AliceinSlumberland Thanks! I’d definitely take it easy if you can just in case.

@Cuppasoupmonster Yeah, I’m also on low dose aspirin due to preeclampsia in first pregnancy

AliceinSlumberland · 20/11/2022 22:32

@alwaysseeingstars we looked at travel systems today too, omg its mad how many there are! Did you see any favourites?

SprinGarden · 21/11/2022 05:06

@PuddingBear @Skylark1990 i v got hip pain but the worst is at night have to keep moving from side to side. Spoke to midwife and she referred me to nhs physio who assessed me and then gave me home exercises to do to strengthen my core..
@Cuppasoupmonster i m on 150mg daily for pre eclampsia prevention

20 wk scan this morning... Too excited and too worried to sleep..

alwaysseeingstars · 21/11/2022 05:53

@AliceinSlumberland no 🙈 we just got so baffled as we thought it'd be easy!! Need to do some googling. How about you?
@Cuppasoupmonster I'm also on low dose aspirin, for risk of pre-eclampsia & existing heart issues

alwaysseeingstars · 21/11/2022 05:55

@SprinGarden good luck today!!

Hannah223344 · 21/11/2022 06:21

Good luck to those with 20week scans this week! 💙💕

Skylark1990 · 21/11/2022 07:54

@PuddingBear @AliceinSlumberland @SprinGarden sorry you are all struggling with the hips too!

I think if you get a good physio it can Really help. But the key is also avoiding activities that trigger it ot make it worse too. I think I really exacerbated it yesterday as we went for our food shop all together and took DD and she got upset while at supermarket and needed a mummy cuddle and wouldn't let dad do it so I had to carry her around in my hip for a while. And also had to pushed the heavy trolley for a bit. And it just completely f*cked it, excuse my french!

The NHS has some good advice about things to avoid (including carrying heavy toddler esp on one hip! 😫 So hard to not do!). An exercise ball is good too to sit on + these are good for labour too, and rocking a newborn, so a good investment!

Skylark1990 · 21/11/2022 07:55

www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/related-conditions/common-symptoms/pelvic-pain/ link to some advice on pgp.

Good luck everyone else with scans today! DD woke up vomiting last night so I'm not sure she's gonna be ok to go to nursery today and not sure what this means for my scan! I guess DH may not be able to come 😥

Cuppasoupmonster · 21/11/2022 08:21

Oh no Skylark. Poor poppet how is she this morning? Is there anyone else who can watch her?

KennAdams · 21/11/2022 08:59

Eek I saw a little kick from the outside last night. 😬😍

Good luck for scans those who have them today 🎉

ancienthouse · 21/11/2022 09:16

Good luck for all the scans today!

Oh no @Skylark1990 ,poor DD. I hope you can find some childcare, I had to go to all my early scans alone and it wasn't fun. DH and DS sat in the carpark waiting for me!

Springblooms08 · 21/11/2022 09:17

Enjoy seeing your lovely babies ladies with their scans this week!

Can anybody recommend a pregnancy pillow to stop you rolling onto your back? x

LauraA31 · 21/11/2022 09:56

Good luck everybody with your scans! Mine isn’t for another two weeks and it feels forever away!

@Springblooms08 boyfriend bought me a pregnancy pillow yesterday, it’s called the Theodore…. It stopped me rolling onto my back last night but it’s huge and C shaped so stopped me moving at all! I lost my temper with it at 3am after hardly no sleep and threw it on the floor, think im going to give it another go tonight.. it was really comfy just think I’m not used to restriction!

SprinGarden · 21/11/2022 10:16

@Springblooms08 I bought this one Super Soft Bounce Back Aloe Vera 9 FT Long C_U Shaped Full Body Cuddly & Maternity Pregnancy, Back, Leg, Hip, Arthritis Support Pillow amzn.eu/d/2GTEqk7 . Found it great though I D consider buying a longer one.. It is massive but keeps me on my side

Indianna2006 · 21/11/2022 11:22

@Skylark1990 in love with that Moses basket!! That girly print is sooo cute. I’m tempted. I don’t need it for overnight sleeping though. We have a bassinet for upstairs we had from DD which can have a zip canopy to protect from the cat whilst we sleep.

bit perhaps I can convince dh we need a space for new baby to sleep downstairs. It’s lovely 😍😍

sorry about your scan. Hopefully you’ve worked something out.

20 week scan for me not for another 2 weeks boo.

ancienthouse · 21/11/2022 11:24

I need to get my pregnancy pillow out but I'm worried there isn't enough room in the bed for it with me, DH and DS too!

This time in my last pregnancy I was feeling amazing, full of energy and the sickness had all gone. This time I'm still a little bit sick, heartburn is here already, and I'm feeling faint and rubbish half of the time. Definitely not got the energy I had last time! It's a bit rubbish but the baby kicking away like mad makes up for it 😊

SVC11 · 21/11/2022 11:48

Hiii. I'm due April 2023. Can I join the group. There's loads already so maybe no room at the Inn? Xx

Skylark1990 · 21/11/2022 12:06

Thanks everyone - DD only spewed the one time, DH slept in with her and she was fine the rest of the night and happy and completely this morning so we sent her to preschool, so should be OK to go to the scan! Would have prob kept her home any other day but really want DH at the scan... We think it could have been that she ate some earth while out in the garden with DH yesterday... not ideal, but would explain how shortlived it was as may not be a bug (hopefully!). 😬

Re pregnancy pillows and rolling onto back. You can just put a normal pillow or cushion behind your back so that if you do roll onto it, you're at an angle. I have the bbhugme pregnancy pillow and it is really lush. Expensive but can be used as a supportive feeding pillow too!

I also bought the dream genii and theraline when pregnant with DD - both ok but nothing on the bbhugme!

Also we don't need to super worry about back sleeping till 28 weeks apparently!

AliceinSlumberland · 21/11/2022 12:22

@SVC11 course you can, you’re more than welcome. It’s a busy thread but you get to recognise the familiar faces :) Is this your first baby?

I’ve been worrying about rolling onto my back at night too, our bed will struggle to fit a preg pillow so I’m trying to put it off until I’m uncomfortable. However after reading this I feel a lot more reassured - expectingscience.com/2018/05/01/back-sleeping-and-stillbirth-revisited-a-reason-for-caution-or-a-few-extra-pillows/amp/

im not going to worry too much about it, and like you say @Skylark1990 just use a pillow or something to prop me up. Glad your daughter has gone in - id have done exactly the same!

@alwaysseeingstars honestly we were the same, I think we’re going to go for the Joie Signature Finiti I think it’s called? It folds down easily and reasonably small, but still has decent wheels/suspension, it’s not hugely expensive either compared to some so we’re going to get that and then get a cheap second hand out n about nipper for dog walks, then I don’t need to worry about it getting trashed either.

SprinGarden · 21/11/2022 12:46

Had scan... Healthy little girl 💕💖... It s amazing 😄 so excited.

Cuppasoupmonster · 21/11/2022 12:48

@Skylark1990 same thing happened to my DD last week; must be a weird bug! Hope the scan went well xx
