Isnt the medala the one recommended by MW's???

Mollyfloss · 10/02/2008 22:10

I've heard that the best electric pumps are Medela Avent and Ameda. For the moment I only have a hand one that my SIL gave me. I'm waiting to see if I really will use a pump because I've heard it's really time consuming. However if I find I need one regularly I'll get an electric one because I've heard that they are way better... what is a mini pump?

chipmonkey · 10/02/2008 22:17

Ellie, that pump does come highly recommended so should be fine. But in all honesty, there is no point in anyone advising anyone else on breast pumps as if you look on MN amongst other places you will find that some people get on great with Medela, other people prefer Avent and some people can't get on with any pump at all so your best bet is to try it out, see how you get on. If it doesn't work, you can sell it on ebay and try out another one then

Morning all, hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Mine was great, spent all day sat with my mum and some friends buying baby things, kitted LO out well and truely. Was great fun, now we just have to finish the nursery so I have somewhere to put everything .

Oh and only 3 weeks left at work

ruty · 11/02/2008 08:44

sorry bit late to this thread. Due with 2nd dc end of April [by elective c section probably after last time's experience] or beginning of May. Still feeling bit queasy at times and struggling to eat enough but baby seems to be growing well! Haven't bought anything yet. Ought to start i suppose!

Soph73 · 11/02/2008 09:24

Morning all & hello Ruty Well, I´m back at work although Dr did say I could have another week off but I´ve got far too much to try & fit in before I start maternity leave. It wasn´t mumps btw, just a very severe throat infection!

Soph73 · 11/02/2008 09:25

And as you can see back to stupid computer that won´t send messages longer than 3 lines Have been given a 4th due date - now the 5th May. I swear I´m going to be in the Guinness Book of Records for the longest pregnancy Got the pushchair yesterday so am now a VERY happy bunny

Denny185 · 11/02/2008 09:36

Welcome Ruty. Appologies for any typo's not got glasses on yet, the joys of school hols were all still in PJ's - yeah, sorry to anyone at work.

Just had a couple of bargins on ebay - 2 nursing bras for £2 and a 0-6 month travel cot for 99p (hoping DS out of the big one by the time this one needs it). Still bidding on some more bras, muslins and nipple protectors. I love ebay!!!

Did anyone watch the skating last night - OMG Chris Fountain and that spin, hes going to be better than Kieran last year at this rate.

Denny185 · 11/02/2008 09:37

Soph glad your feeling better

EllieG · 11/02/2008 09:44

Can u just get signed off forever now Ellie, or is it money that is making you stay?

We are on Half Term here, think i am seeing a RL friend today so that will pass the time. Tomorrow Jamie is at nursery, Weds MW, Thursday my friend is taking them off me all day and Friday i may go to playgroup & lunch. So at least i have something to do everyday

Kev is away this weekend - Saturday morning until Monday night seeing Zac. I hate it when hes away; sometimes feels like he is being taken off us but then i think of the time we have him and Zac doesnt iyswim? Just not much fun for me home alone no car or company for a whole weekend. and we loose a days money. He has to get him from his mums this time and i dont like that either. I'm stupid aren't i???

What is everyone doing today?

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 11/02/2008 09:58

Welcome Ruty!

I can understand how you feel Scorpio - you miss him when he is not there! Understandable

Back to the grind today. Had an awful journey into work - people just have no respect for others - was pushed and shoved twice today! Regardless of the fact I am pregnant, I really feel that people should treat others with a basic amount of respect! I can't wait to go on maternity leave!!

EllieG · 11/02/2008 10:04

Is not stupid scorpio - entirely understandable given that you are awash with hormones making you feel a bit insecure too. I'd be exactly the same.

Can't finish have too much work to do and would be leaving my cases all messy. Would love to though....roll on maternity leave!

Scorpio - you´re not being silly
Ellie - my Dr (brill woman) told me to come back to work for a week & then she would quite happily sign me off due to ill health until maternity leave begins However, have far too much to do. Only 4 wks till Easter hols anyway.

Denny185 · 11/02/2008 10:33

The thought of mat leave is great but its a pain in the arse getting there isnt it, lots to get cleared up and organised and so little time to do it in

scorpio1 · 11/02/2008 10:40

must be sort of like me tying everything up at uni then? but more stressy! Good luck ladies.

Most other times DH has been there to get dss she has been unsuitably dressed or demanding his attention or money; when me and DH were first together she tried sleeping with him all the time and normally, with his other GF's, he did sleep with her. but he said no and she hates me even more i'm just being silly, i know what he thinks of her, and he does text me saying he is just going in and texts me when he has left to reassure me [bunny boiler]. Guess im more about being alone all weekend, just me and a non-speaking 3 year old.

Denny185 · 11/02/2008 10:44

Plan someting to do at the weekend so your not sitting in - park, walk, feed ducks etc. That will help take your mind off Dh.

Peachy · 11/02/2008 10:45
  • hello Ruty ! great to see you here.
SuzeM · 11/02/2008 11:43

Hi Ruty and everyone else.

I was in Dublin for the weekend, last time going there without a baby.

I still have nothing bought, I have 9 weeks to go but want to get things organized soon. I have 7 weeks left at work, I am envious of those of you finishing earlier!

Is anyone going to put their baby into their own room from the get go? I know the guidelines are that they sleep in the room with you for the first 6 months but our room is badly laid out and it is going to be very cramped with a cot. The baby's room is right next door.

Sheds75 · 11/02/2008 11:49

Suze, we are getting a moses basket for LO to use on a night in our room but will put him in his room for naps during the day. As for how long he will stay in our room, I think it will be a wait and see game

scorpio1 · 11/02/2008 11:54

Whats for lunch?

Me: Spinach and ricotta quiche, carrot and cucumber sticks, yoghurt.

EllieG · 11/02/2008 11:59

Baby will be in with us til sleeps through as we don't have another room and think is a bit mean for DSD to be woken! When she sleeps better she will go in with DSD. I have bought really heavy curtains to screen the room off though to give the illusion of baby having it's own space so not too spooked by being away from mum and dad.

I've already eaten 2 chocolate caramels and 2 chocolate biscuits and a peanut biscuit, oink.

scorpio1 · 11/02/2008 12:07

Millie will be in with us for at least 4 months i think. Am really reluctant to put her in same room as boys, especially the devil child. he turned the lights on at 5.30am this morning cue scorpio storming in and shouting turn the bloody light off and go to sleep!!!

Soph73 · 11/02/2008 12:19

Sam will be with us until he´s 3 months - that´s the plan anyway! DS1 was with us for that long & then own room. However, if he sleeps through earlier, then he´ll have his own room earlier

SuzeM · 11/02/2008 12:48

That's a good idea to put the baby in her own room for naps, I guess I could find an inexpensive Moses basket that would fit in our room for the first few months.
