Baby will be in with us for as long as I think he/she needs to be with us (1st time parent!)

ruty · 11/02/2008 12:52

thanks for all the welcomes! And Hi Peachy! Your baby's arriving quite soon now isn't it? Very exciting. Hope you're feeling well. how did your essay on Lumen Gentium go? [in awe of you threading any kind of coherent argument together at all whilst pregnant]

VictorianSqualor · 11/02/2008 13:00

Arghhhhhh, I have a horrid cold type thingy, my sinuses are killing me and my throat feels shit, I'm also extremely pissed off that DP has obvoiusly iven me it, he gets this shit from work every so often and he can take stuff for it but I cant, yet he will be the one whinging about it

scorpio1 · 11/02/2008 13:17

its yuck i had it about a month ago. will last a while im afraid stick your head over a steamy bowl of vick.

PortAndLemon · 11/02/2008 13:34

Baby will be in with us for first six months. Then will depend on baby whether we brave putting her in to share with DS or not...

I start ML next week, hence lots of around here!

PortAndLemon · 11/02/2008 13:35

Hello ruty!

Peachy · 11/02/2008 13:46

Essay went OK Ruty, grades won't be out for ages yet, got another on innocence in Eastern faiths for Monday - wish they wouldn't do them over half term (this week for us), then it's the sacraments, a presentation and that's that. (Apart from dissertation which I am steadfastly ignoring). Oh and an exam, but I'm OK with exams strangely.

Baby will be in with us for probably closer to the first year, cot is too big really but the crib will be fine at fist then we can review at 6 months.

Having terrible trouble sleeping now; actually glad for once when DH is on shift (normally ahte it) as I get extra space, although 2 kids in the bed doesn't help. Waking up about 1 and then resettling around 6. Better get used to it I suppose! Only 7 weeks to go now. Started my raspberry leaf capsules as I am desperate not to go overdue.

EllieG · 11/02/2008 13:52

Hats off to you peachy - can't imagine studying right now [impressed emoticon]

So at people startign ML soon - I think am going to have to start just before as only get 12 weeks paid ml and 6 weeks of that is kept back til have been back at work for 3 months, so things will be very tight in the EllieG household. Hey-ho. And only accrue annual leave for the 12 weeks of paid leave so I think I am entitled to take 6.25 days this year, which means will have to work up to 39 weeks. Am going to die. I feel some sick leave coming on.....

Sheds75 · 11/02/2008 13:53

PAL at ou starting ML next week.....

VictorianSqualor · 11/02/2008 13:54

Peachy have you tried the nytol herbals??
I have been trying not to use them too much but if I wake in the night and cant sleep I use them to get myself back off.

Peachy · 11/02/2008 13:56

Trouble is Ellie I can't imagine studying rght now LOL- tis why I am on here . Dissertation first submission date is a week after due date, so ML not even existing and as Uni doesn't regard PG as suffficient reason to defer- can't throw away almost 4 years slog!

Sheds75 · 11/02/2008 13:58

I got some raspberry leaf tea bags, but not sure when I should start drinking them, any clues???? I hate tea at the best of times so not looking forward to it but anything that helps

VictorianSqualor · 11/02/2008 14:01

I thoguht the tablets were better?
And we aren't meant to take them til 36 weeks.

Peachy · 11/02/2008 14:02

Ugh, the tea is foul. I ike the capsules!

Lloked at some research and all I could find was some that suggested three times a day from 32 weeks.

Was quite funny- went into holland and barratt for a few things, buta ssistant came running up as soona s I went in 'Madam, were you after the raspberry leaf?'

because I am THAT HUGE now! Startiong to wonder if I need to buy another pair of amternity jeans as these getting tight and still 6 weeks.... yikes!

EllieG · 11/02/2008 14:03

I am going to start swallowing them the moment I can. Want this baby OUT

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 11/02/2008 14:04

Ok, I'm 32 weeks tomorrow, I'm going to get some TODAY!

Peachy · 11/02/2008 14:04

I did manage to find the original research before, its out there somewhere.

Peachy · 11/02/2008 14:05

I keep threatening to slap an eviction notice on my stomach LOL! have had enough now.....

Mollyfloss · 11/02/2008 14:06

Hello! i'm still in paris with work. DH came over at the weekend and we went a bit mad buying cute stuff for the baby's room. We haveb't had to but much so far as so much has been given to us so we went a bit overboard thios weekend. I still can't get over the Parisians attitude to pregnant women. They're usually a fairly conservative lot but don't think twice about touching my bump (apparently it brings good luck) and asking me every question under the sun. It's is quite nice all the attention

SuzeM: We'll be keeping the baby in our room for the first 6 months. I'm a first timer and I'll be obeying all the rules. I'm too scared to do otherwise.

Sheds: I think you're supposed to wait until term before taking the raspberry leaf tea.

PortAndLemon · 11/02/2008 14:07

Ellie, I only get statutory minimum of 6 weeks at 90% and then SMP .

I'm reasonably sure that you should accrue annual leave for the whole 26 weeks of Ordinary Maternity Leave, though; official government advice is "Employees on maternity leave retain their entitlement to statutory annual leave (four weeks? paid leave per year) throughout ordinary and additional maternity leave. If the employee is also entitled to contractual annual leave (that is, annual leave that is provided by her contract, on top of the four weeks statutory minimum provided by law) she will continue to accrue this additional, contractual entitlement during Ordinary Maternity Leave."

So if you haven't misunderstood the policy, it sounds as though your employer is trying to diddle you... (or are you somewhere exotic where normal law doesn't apply?)

Mollyfloss · 11/02/2008 14:09

Is anyone else being woken up at night with bad circulation in their legs. Mine starts from the bum and goes all the way down. I have to get up and walk around for a while, then I go back to bed an it all starts again about 2 hours later... and I'm knackered because of this..... yawn.... zzzzzz........

Sheds75 · 11/02/2008 14:15

Peachy, LOL at our eviction notice

just imagine how we are going to feel in a month...... bring on the rasberry tea, curry, pinapple, long walks and a bit of lovin

Mollyfloss · 11/02/2008 14:16

oh and even though I only have less than 9 weeks to go I am going to have to buy some maternity clothes this week. Everything I have is either too tight or itches the hell out of me. I wish I could walk around in cool pyjamas all day long or naked would even be better! As it is I am living in a black cotton pair of trousers/tracksuit ends that I bought in M&S for £15. They are a lifesaver. I just pull them up over the bump and there are no seams that feel tight when I bend or sit down (like with jeans). Dresses fit ok but then the tights make me itch after a while and it's too cold to go without... what a pain... I need new bras (again!) too...

Denny185 · 11/02/2008 14:20

I go out for a couple of hours and look how busy youve all been. Peachy, think youre amazing, I just did one module of a masters as stand alone course whilst pregnant with DS and was absolutely knackered from that.

Will prob do the same as we did for the other 2, in with us until we can stand the noise no more. Day time naps and 7pm till dream feed in their own room.

Peachy · 11/02/2008 14:21

I KNOW how I'm going to feel in a month- that what scares me! And s3 ws late.... (DS2 was early though so there is Hope!).

Molly don't forget you're supposed to be fitted for nursing bra's at 36 weeks, do theys till do those bra extenders they used to sell to get you through the last few weeks?
