VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 22:13

We had chips and curry sauce and a variety of saveloy/battered sausage/fishcake, I just ahd chips though.

Went to sainsburys, got 6 babygro's, 3 feeding clothes (wicked things, like a cross between a bib and oven gloves) a box of breast pads, three packs of ten maternity towels (47p each!) 2 baby sponges, cotton wool, bay soap and a 'Plastic aint my bag' bag, for £20

Wicked sale, thanks for the info

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 09/02/2008 09:04

I wish we had a big Sainsbury's near us that also did all this stuff!!

Denny185 · 09/02/2008 09:14

Was just thinking the same thing, wonder if they are doing the same offers on line?????

Denny185 · 09/02/2008 09:24

Mmmm found the toiletry bits but not the sleepsuits

VictorianSqualor · 09/02/2008 11:56

The TU clothes were 25% off everything.
I think it's in a different section on the website.

PortAndLemon · 09/02/2008 14:50

I don't think they do TU online, just in some of the larger stores.

Mollyfloss · 09/02/2008 16:43

Hello Ladies!

I've just been out and bought some nice baby stuff for her bedroom (bumper pad for cot, sheets, thing for tidying nappies etc). They all match and are so cute. I have to wash sheets, clothes etc before use, is that right?

Denny185 · 09/02/2008 19:03

Its up to you, I tend to wash everything that will come in contact with babies skin, bit neurotic about what they are made of/packaged in etc. Plus it tends to make sheets and towels fluffy and soft for their skin.

scorpio1 · 09/02/2008 19:07

i'm going to wash all her stuff before she wears it.

i'm annoyed....another person has posted about the name Millie and lots of people saying that Millie's should have 'full' names like Amelie or Amelia, etc. Err, why, i dont like those? And apparently it wont suit a woman....What do you all think? DH & I don't want to call her a full name, and i think it will suit a woman...as you all know all of our kids have short nicknamey names.

I guess its just some peoples opinions?

PortAndLemon · 09/02/2008 19:13

I kind of feel as though I ought to wash stuff first, but to be honest I don't and DS has survived unscathed so far.

scorpio -- personally for my DCs I would give a longer 'full' name as well, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with your approach, and as you say it goes along with the pattern you've already set with your other DCs. I think Millie works just fine on an adult, anyway.

Denny185 · 09/02/2008 19:52

When Millie gets to adulthood if she dosent like her name she can always choose to use something different, DH rarely called by his real name. Dont let other peoples views put you off, its a name youve liked for ages stick with it otherwise youll compromise on something your not so keen on and regret it.

chipmonkey · 09/02/2008 20:07

hi everyone. Am v. excited. SIL is in hospital being induced! She was due 12 days ago. She was induced on her last baby as well and it took 2 days so am really hoping it will be quicker for her this time!

VictorianSqualor · 09/02/2008 20:55

Scorpio, on another thread half of mumsnet said that kids should have 'full' names, and the otehr half said they should have 'short# names.
Ella is Danni-Ella, she gets called Ella, even she hates danni-ella, so what was the point of it being on her birth certificate???
Bobby is bobby, I dont like robert, or bert, or rob, or robbie, just bobby, and as it was my dad's nickname I chose it, and called him Bobby, no-one calls him anything else, ELla however gets pissed off being called 'Danni' by people she doesnt know properly.
SO, IMO, call her millie if you want her to eb called millie!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 09/02/2008 21:16

I think Millie is a lovely name and would also suit an adult. Why wouldn't it? Stick to your guns Scorpio!

chipmonkey · 09/02/2008 22:07

Ds3 is Tom and is named Tom on his birth cert. One annoying neighbour insists on calling him Thomas. I do feel like shouting, "If I wanted him to be called Thomas, I'd have called him Thomas, GEDDIT?"
But I'm too polite!
Scorpio, I think you're getting yourself too worked up about this! You like Millie, call her Millie! Even when she's an adult, and is introduced as Millie, you honestly don't think people will say, "But you couldn't be called Millie at your age?| Unless they're the sort you don't want to meet anyway!

EllieG · 10/02/2008 11:28

Mornin' all!

VS - really good to hear your LOs are getting their scalp probs sorted at last.

scorpio - don't listen to them, Millie is lovely name on it's own. I have ishoos with people insisting you have to call a child the long version of a name when you don't like it and are never going to call it that. And Millie is a lovely name for child or adult so poo to anyone who says otherwise.

Hello to everyone else! Hope chick flicks and weddings went well x

OP posts:
Mollyfloss · 10/02/2008 15:36

Scorpio, stick to Millie, it's lovely. whoi cares what enyone else says. you'll never get everyone in agreement on any name anyway.

Is anyone else finding it hard to sleep because of poor circulation? I wake about every two hours with a pain starting in my bum and down my legs. i have to get up and walk around to get the blood to flow down again (at least that's what it feels like). Is anyone else getting this?

northeastmummy · 10/02/2008 16:37

Scorpio - our Millie is just Millie. I wanted to give her a "long version" because I was worried about it not suiting an adult, but DH insisted that we didn't and I'm glad now. She's Millie ... and that's it. Plus there was something on TV recently with an adult Millie and it was absolutely fine.

NorthernLurker · 10/02/2008 16:58

Attention April 2008 mums - I'm from April 2007 and I have popped in to give you an important piece of advice! Those of you who work - write down NOW what EXACTLY it is you do at work. Otherwise you will be like me - in the process of applying for a new job before I go back to work and utterly unable to remember what it was I used to do so brilliantly. Aaaaaargh!

Good Luck with the babies!

scorpio1 · 10/02/2008 18:29

Thankyou everyone; was teasy yesterday!! i am going to call her just Millie. Like one of you said not everyone likes every name anyway!

We went out for roast and a lovely walk today; feel quite tired now. Had yummy choc cake hting for pud though!!

Hope you all well x

EllieG · 10/02/2008 19:08

Thanks for the tip northenlurker - I already feel that my brain is going a bit mushy so will do that!

I've had a layyyyzzee day today - my Dad had DSD for the afternoon and they went out for walks looking for wildlife or something and I did very little, pootled round in my kitchen made lovely beef and various veg pie for tea with braised red cabbage and DP watched the footie. Was SO nice to not do anything much for a bit, parents are very useful when it comes to grandparenting duties sometimes aren't they?

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 10/02/2008 19:20

I went over to toys r us with DP's mum and bought some baby bits this afternoon(the electric breast pumps are now 19.99 instead of 24.99 if you need one still).
Now I'm absolutely shattered!
Realised today that at the latest baby will be here in 10 weeks! If I end up having a CS it will be ehre in six!! arrrgghhhh!!

EllieG · 10/02/2008 19:27

Awwww VS that jacket is so cute!

On the subject of breast pumps - I bought an electic medala mini pump or something - was the only one I could find for not a million pounds (we don't have all shops over here) - does anyone know if that is OK or if should take back and get a different one online?

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 10/02/2008 19:36

I wouldnt know about grandparetns help... not bitter honest! Sounds like a lovely day Ellie. Sorry cant help you about breast pump!

PortAndLemon · 10/02/2008 19:41

Different pumps suit different people. If it cost less than a million pounds that's a good start .
