Great news VS!

SuzeM: I'm sure St. Thomas will be great. I've heard good things about it and if you're familiar with it then it's probably better. Did you manage to get into an NCT class in your area? Mine is going to be at the Me & my Baby Therapy Rooms, which happens to be right next door to the C&W.

Welcome meandbump! i'm a first timer too. If you scroll down there are some comments from yesterday about prams/buggies which seems to be the trickiest thing to buy as it is quite personal. For childbirth I am finding the book 'What to expect when you're expecting' very informative in a kind of encylopedia way. NCT classes would help you a lot too.

Soph73 · 15/01/2008 16:18

Great news VS. I put on 3kg from 14 Dec - 11 Jan. My midwife nearly had a seizure However the Spanish are paranoid about putting on too much weight. The way I look at it is that I´m the one who's got to lose it - gulp!!

KnitterInTheNW · 15/01/2008 16:20

OMG, we just sold our house! We accepted 5k less than the asking price, but it's more than the man offered in his first 2 offers. I'm all giddy now!

Soph73 · 15/01/2008 16:23

Actually, thinking about it I´ve only put on 5kg since falling pregnant, which is just over 10lbs. If I remember rightly that´s not even a stone is it? Well, gotta go DS is back from swimming & wants to go on CBeebies

Soph73 · 15/01/2008 16:24

Congrats Knitter

Mollyfloss · 15/01/2008 16:29

We bought this cot on saturday. COTIt's a bedside cot which means we can have it like a normal cot or have the option of having one side completely down and next to our bed. I'm not sure if we will do that but I like the idea. I suppose it's sort of like co-sleeping. has anyone done this?

sagitta · 15/01/2008 16:32

Congrats, knitter! I hope you manage to move before LO appears.

I haven't been weighed, but I got wedged between the checkout desks at Sainsbury's yesterday, so I think its bad news...

northeastmummy · 15/01/2008 16:34

Congratulations Knitter - that's brilliant news!

Hi meandbump . Any questions you have, just put on a quick post and you'll get loads of responses - it's great on here because you get loads of perspectives then you can decide what works for you. I'm afraid I'm about as far away from Essex as you get - I'm in NE Scotland.

Molly - that cot looks fab. I haven't officially co-slept but was very naughty and took DD into bed with us quite a lot when she was little. We still do now and again if she's tired enough to lie still! I really loved snuggling up with her but I think having the cot to move her into would give you more piece of mind - I rarely slept properly because I was always worried about rolling onto her.

sagitta · 15/01/2008 16:39

Molly - that looks like a great way to be near but not co-sleep (which I hate!)Good idea!

Off to pick up DD - and hoping that tomorrow I shall work and NOT spend (much) time on MN!

Peachy · 15/01/2008 16:55

We've used tots bots nappies (DH's favourites), and nature babies stuffables. Dh refusing to use this time around becuase of ds3 being in nappies for the forseeable future (just returned from a 2 day assessment and they don't seem to see him training any time soon as he simply cannot tell wet from dry atm), there are two palces worth looking- either seek ot Flame on here as she is lovely and sells arange, or look at www.hempresto.co.uk as my mate runs that and makes her own nappies in her attic LOL.

Hello meandbump- welcome

Can't beleive how many messages on here- 2 busy days and- wow!

HAd a message btw from my MW on phone to say my iron levels very low so on the iron tablets- yuck.

Peachy · 15/01/2008 16:57

Molly that cot looks lovely- we have a crib (still need to put together), but cot-wise we use the one DH had as a baby LOL- this will be the 6th baby in it. It's an exact match for my old one as well apparently

PortAndLemon · 15/01/2008 16:58

TLSM's usednappies link is good too, but none of you are allowed to look at it for the next week or so as I have several bids in at the moment .

Mollyfloss · 15/01/2008 17:10

I'll have to put that cot together when it arrives on Monday. the thinkg I like about it is that it works as a normal cot (with different levels) but if we want we can pull the side bar down completely. Like you said it's a great way to be near without co-sleeping. I'm a little afraid of co-sleeping so this way I have another option. I'm very pleased with myself I was also tempted into one that has a filled in piece of wood at each end but realised I wouldn't be able to see the LO when looking from the end of the cot. Something to keep in mind for anyone who's buying one.

velbels · 15/01/2008 17:13

My sister did a trial of used nappies for Which? about 5 years ago. I know there have been lots of new types since then, but she found Motherease (one sidze) the best then. She has used them all the way through 2 kids now (and she is not the most organised person!) She has offered them to me next. Free stuff

Peachy · 15/01/2008 17:26

A lot of reusables though is what suits that aprticular baby- for example I have skinny minnies, so the nappies which fited them were cut differently to my nephew who is super tall and stocky. It's best to wait until the birth then buy a few samples of the ones you fancy and go from there ime. The wrong nappy can be a very expensive mistake.

Personally i loved the stuffables as I just pad folded a terry (cheap and easy) and insewrted it, and with ds3 being a summer baby he could just wear the funkier ones with a t-shirt if it was hot.

scorpio1 · 15/01/2008 17:29

Hello!

Sorry have just been really busy and tired, and my stupid bones are hurting again.

So, i was right! My friend came up on saturday and i met 7 of my friends at a lovely posh pizza place. had a really great night and was home about 11.30pm (for me!!)

Am also going out tonight, its my mate's 23rd bday so doing that tonight, although just staying for meal then going home.

EEK, 3 full days left!!

VictorianSqualor · 15/01/2008 17:36

Molly, it's what I'm doing sidecar co-sleeping there a few others on Mn that do it too, so baby can be pulled across to you easy enough but at the same time you can put baby to bed by itself.

VS: how did the other ladies on MN find the sidecar co-sleeping in general? Is there any links on that? Also do you leave the side down all night long?

Denny185 · 15/01/2008 18:22

Paranoid - so glad Im not the only one stacking on the lbs, currently at 2 stone 8lb, hoping to only put 3 1/2 on this time, we shall see.

Nappies - weve done little lambs (cotton - bamboos supposed to be more absorbant but take longer to dry) and love them, really easy to maintain and use, even with a wriggly toddler - just put them on sitting up instead. They could do with a size 3 though, our size 2's r a bit snug. We recently tried yun yun's and they are crap, leak all over the place.

Hello to meandbump - birth, I just didnt think about it till I had no choice with first 2 ie when in labour. R there any classes at your local hospital they can be v informative for symptoms, delivery, assisted deliveries and most importantly pain relief!! A lot of hospitals also do tours (if your having hospital birth) so you can be familiar with your surroundings prior to the time.

VS - glad all went well at hosp

Ellie - it had to be a better day than yesterday, glad youve got it all back on track again.

Knitter - congrats on selling the house, what a bonus if it gets completed in the next 10 weeks.

PAL - great to see you back, hope you had a good xams and new year

Scorpio - if your not back on b4 Sat, have a fab day

northeastmummy · 15/01/2008 18:38

Wow Scorpio - good luck, good luck, good luck!! I can't WAIT to see pics .

TLSM · 15/01/2008 19:15

VS thats good new

Glad you had a good weekend Scorpio looking forward to the pics of this weekend good luck! Are you going away anywhere?

Well been to the Docs and turns out I have something from with the part of your inner ear that controls your balance The doc gave me meds but told me NOT to take them unless it gets really bad double she said it should right its self and if it doesnt I will need to see a physio so lets hope it goes quickly!

Lol PAL I have just had another delivery of 6 new little lambs the micro thngy ones they are so woft and lovely I got them with two wraps they are all brand new and paid £26 including postage! BARGAIN

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 15/01/2008 19:33

TLSM - is it Vertigo/Labyrinthitis you have? If so I am also currently suffering from it - and it is awful. Had it for a week now and my Dr will not give me any meds for it. He has however referred me to a Specialist who might be able to manipulate (my neck I think?) to make things better or even give me meds. Unfortunatley I have to wait till Sat till I see him - which right now, feeling like this, seems a lifetime away. So if you do have the same thing - my sympathies - it is AWFUL.

Scampmum · 15/01/2008 21:28

Great news VS! Sorry TLSM, M2B2BR and Ellie are having rough times. Ellie I am also getting a belt for SPD (sacroiliac?) - can't wait to be able to walk but (vanity ) will it really badly emphasise my love handles?

Scorpio, all the very best for Sat, can't wait to see pics.

We had fluffles and motherease, although I got totsbots wraps later and I actually really liked them.
