Hello

OP posts:
ShellySara · 29/12/2007 18:51

Hello bumpettes, hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and everything is going ok for all of you.

My DP made it over for Christmas week, but I had to take him back to the airport again this morning, so was feeling rather sad and tearful, so had a much needed read of MN to stop feeling so miserable, and I now feel much better. I havent posted in a fair while, and there was certainly plenty to read, from the past week.

Had scan last Thursday, and Baby Dot seems to be doing perfectly in there. Was unsure about finding babys flavour out, so asked for it to be put in an envelope, although Doc didnt think that we would make it out of the carpark before we opened it, it in fact made it home before opening, and Baby is a girl! I had got it into my head that Baby was going to be a boy, and now need to think of a girls name. We seem to like Mya/Mia - pronounced My-ah, is that actually a name or am I imagining things??

As DP is now not out until the weekend before Baby due, we had a practice run in putting up the pushchair - blinking heck...... you have seen nothing like it!!! Between a vehicle mechanic and a techie messing about for over 2 hours, we could not manage to get the raincover on, and so we are going to find a huge great big brolly and hope it doesnt rain!!! So, anyone have a clue how to rig these things up??

I have not long moved so have decided to take the plunge and register with another doctor so I can change hospitals to one closer - I really dont fancy the prospect of going into labour by myself in New Street Station while waiting for a delayed/cancelled train!!! Does anyone have any experience of the Womens Hospital (near Selly Oak) in Birmingham?

Sorry for the super long posting.

Have a fantastic evening.

Scout is to killa mocking bird, a book I adore so I would have loved that name

scorpio1 · 29/12/2007 18:55

I think Millie Scout C.... sounds fabby. do we all love it?

and peachy, Sebastian is a lovely name. don't listen to your parents (i saw other thread). my parents never like any name i choose, but they get used to it

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 29/12/2007 19:00

Ah now I thought Scout was in both books LOL_ i'd never have known!

We won't give up on Sebaastian, its his name now.

scorpio1 · 29/12/2007 19:01

oh i dont know, i know its one at least of those books! havent read them for a few years....

northfeastmummy · 29/12/2007 19:43

Yay to Millie Scout Scorpio - of course I'm a little biased as my own Millie Grace is just on her way to bed and is being SO cute this holiday. I SO don't want to go back to work.

TLSM · 29/12/2007 20:41

Hi all glad you all had a good christmas same here

On the peeing front I can confirm I too am peeing when I cough or sneeze but I am also being sick when I cough lots and as VS said the I practically wee myself oh the joys of motherhood I have had a consistant cough for two weeks now and am being sick about once a day when I have a bad bout! I have taken to wearing tena lady until the cough goes !

Peachy Sebastian is a really nice name is it me or does your Mum and Dad pck on you a lot about stuff? Chin up and stick to it!

Right best get back to the mob I have down stairs just wanted to catch up so I didnt get too far behind lol!

VictorianSqualor · 30/12/2007 11:43

I saw that thread but didnt open it as I saw everyone was saying Seb was lovely, I didn't realsie it was your thread! I totally agree that it's gorgeous, I like longer names for boys that can be shortened.
I keep saying 'Alexander Stone' 'Alexander Oliver Stone' to myself and love the ring to it. But bump is being called Alex, for now. I think Xander is really cool for when he is older too.
I'm trying to persuade DP on Olivia but he said he called his brother (Oliver) it as a joke for years so I need to work hard

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 30/12/2007 12:45

Alexander is ice, but 2 friends have it so was a no-no for us.

Apparently I am officially third trimester from today. Blimey.

VictorianSqualor · 30/12/2007 12:48

eeeeek!
I don't know how I'm going to be able to walk when I get to third trimester!
I just keep getting bigger and bigger, mine has definitely dropped a bit too, not as close to my boobs now as it was.

lorisparkle · 30/12/2007 13:59

EllieG - I would go to the physios sooner rather than later. At our hospital they are fantastic and offer loads of advice, support and have given me a belt to support my useless pelvis. I have found that by following everything they say (DH is at home so he is doing all the lifting and carrying) I can walk on an evening. Had a busy day on Friday though and on Saturday morning I had to hold myself up using the walls to get to the toilet as pelvis had well and truly given up!

I saw some old photos of me late into my third trimester and had forgotten how huge I got. It is amazing how big you get. I'm now starting to struggle to do up my own shoes so that is something to look forward to!

Had an emotional night - DS1 went to Grandma and Grandads for the night ON HIS OWN We both missed him so much, had a terrible nights sleep and woke up early! So much for a relaxing night and a lie in

VictorianSqualor · 30/12/2007 15:43

Starting to struggle?? I haven't been able to put my socks on for WEEKS!

V1KK1M · 30/12/2007 17:23

Hi All,

Haven't been around in ages as I have been so busy at work. I've tried catching up but there is so much.

I am finishing work on 7th March with maternity leabe starting on 21st March. DH will also be taking paternity keave which will mean we will ne broke before we start We are taking a mortgage break just to make life a little easier

I hope all goes OK VS and eva for your next scans - thinking of you.

The baby is moving quite a bit at the moment although I think having an anterior placenta makes the kicks softer - DH still can't feel it either which is but I am hoping another couple of weeks he will be able to feel something.

V1KK1M · 30/12/2007 17:23

Sorry for all the typos!

scorpio1 · 30/12/2007 18:19

I find it really hard to get out of the sofa Millie bump has really grown. I got some lovely pjs from mothercare yesterday, along with the rest of Millie's stuff. Getting pushchair next saturday from a local supplier.

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 30/12/2007 19:06

We're lucky, w have a massive high backed sofa so easy to get off of (relatively)- Mums low one was a nightmare! Course ours is awful to move house with but at least there's some payback.

Since he dropped BabyBas's kicks have quietened somewhat- just as frequent but not as painful, thankfully!

Dh and I have to finish working out what we nneed for baby soon- nto laods, the grip broke on the bottom of the bath support (pretty much my favurite baby item ever) but it's too cold tog o down to the shed to see what's there.

northfeastmummy · 31/12/2007 09:27

Well, I made it into work today. It feels a bit surreal and a bit pointless - but I'm sure it'll fly past. Thursday's going to be the tough one I think.

When are we officially in our third trimester? Jeepers, I can't believe I'm even saying that, it feels like only yesterday I found out I was pregnant!

EllieG · 31/12/2007 09:41

Mornin' all - I was looking up 3rd trimester in my baby books and it says 27 weeks so not long now!

I am off work today cos I have (another) stinking cold

Am too busy not to work though so have emailed my stuff home to work on so can look at it and then probably not do any.

LOVE the name millie scorpio - excellent choice x

Glad everyone else is getting bigger - I looked straight down and realised I can't see my feet anymore! Bump seems to have grown massively over the past week, although some of that may be mince pies

ToastandMincePieAddict · 31/12/2007 10:04

Morning all
First day back

Bump has really grown over the last week, had to let out my trousers this morning! Felt really unwell just before Christmas, felt like my blood sugar dropped really low, really quickly. Have now realised I need to eat for two!! So have stuffed myself over the past week

Getting quite bad leg cramps at night, so not sleeping brilliantly.....

Is it normal for the baby to have very active days and then very quiet ones? She went crazy a few days ago, wriggling all day and night, then yesterday she hardly moved, obviously I was completely panicked!! Seems to be wriggling a bit today, so I'm guessing she wore herself out and then had to have a rest! Normal?

ToastandMincePieAddict · 31/12/2007 10:07

Sorry you're not feeling so good Ellie, hope you feel better soon. Have another mince pie!

ToastandMincePieAddict · 31/12/2007 10:13

Oh, and names, finding it so hard to agree on one.

What do people think of Melissa? DH suggested it, and he's not come up with many yet, so I want to be keen, but I'm not sure....

Others on the list so far are:
Charlotte
Eleanor (Ellie)
Sophie
Lucy

EllieG · 31/12/2007 10:20

I think Eleanor is a very good name

ToastandMincePieAddict · 31/12/2007 10:54

Thought you might!!

btw, not naming her after you in a scary stalker-like fashion!!

VictorianSqualor · 31/12/2007 11:20

I like Charlotte, it may still be what we choose for a girl, with my other two I had the names 100% decided by about week 12, but this time it's so much harder!
I really like Ben at the moment for a boy but it's dp's nan's dogs name, so well, that's out of the window, and his mums is charlie, another name I like!
I've decided as of now no-one should ever name their dog a human name!

SuzeM · 31/12/2007 11:29

Hi, hope you all had a happy Christmas.

I'm back in work for the first time in ages. I was supposed to be working a few days last week but had a bad cold/sore throat. I looked longingly at all the cold and flu medicine ads on TV, it was worse than looking at wine and champagne ads! Hope you feel better soon, EllieG.

ToastAddict, I like the names on your list, also like Melissa. My DH hasn't come up with one name so I guess that means he has to go with my choice.

I am 25 weeks today, suddenly 14th April doesn't seem so far away.

I was thinking of hiring a post-natal doula for a couple of hours a day for the first 3-4 weeks but anyone I've contacted is already booked up.

Hope you all have a very happy new year!
