Ooops, getting a bit carried away!

lorisparkle · 26/12/2007 22:47

Hope everyone had a great Christmas day and enjoyed the festivities without the 'spirit'! My friend told me she is 8 weeks pregnant so had to find lots of weird and wonderful excuses not to indulge in all the naughty things. She is also a family friend but has only told me so I found it hard to keep the secret.

Anyway it has been months since I have visited the thread. Am having real problems with my pelvis and have been advised to take things very slow - no real walking, lifting, ironing (hooray), hoovering (hooray), etc. Have a lovely belt which makes me look like I have a double layered bottom. This is all very fun with an exceptionally lively and strong willed 18 month old who will only walk where he wants to walk. My only bit of exercise was walking down the local shops but if I do this I am barely able to walk at all in the evenings. This means that all those lovely chocolates and mince pies will give me an even bigger bottom to stick out from over and under the belt.

So sorry I have not been able to read back through all the posts. I have tried but am now really confused about who said what!

EllieG · 27/12/2007 09:50

Mornin' all - how were your christmases?

Mine was fine - bit tiring - but nice.

Back at work now though sadly which is making me v v grumpy

I think my arse has expanded to even greater proportions over the last few days - is now the size of a small country. I had hoped I would be one of those lovely looking PG women who is all bump and not much elsewhere, but is not to be. Think I am a bit too greedy for that

rainbowdays · 27/12/2007 10:59

Just wanted to announce that following a 3d scan last week I can now announce that we are expecting a baby boy. Although due date is 7th April, with both previous babies arriving early I expect this one to after Easter in March.

Good to hear that most people has ok christmas time (scorpio - hope yours was not that bad, do tell us what happened). I had a good day, but only after an emotional start to the day where I just lost the plot completely! Npw back at work but very quiet today, hence why I am having time to post now!)

happyjot · 27/12/2007 22:02

Hello there,

I'm new to mumsnet as to be honest when dh is in the house i never get to get my hands anywhere near the computer.
He has just gone back to fulltime work (dh was main childcarer for ds (16 months) for last year or so)but money now seriously tight and with dd(according my gut instinct and our 20 week scan it is a little girl) due on April 13th we both are needing to work every possible hour.
Anyway just wanted to say hello to you who must be feeling a bit round and heavy like I am.
Also getting to that stage of being excited whilst quitely terrifed of how we will cope with two plus also getting a tad fed up feeling like an ever expanding elephant so would be nice to hear from others and how pregnancy and life is treating you all.
Hope you all had fun Christamases' and have a very happy New Year.

DennytwasNewYear · 28/12/2007 07:20

Welcome happyjot - were going to keep those midwifes busy in April, summer was obviously a good time for bedroom shananigans!!

Well the outlaws have gone, hooray, returned from work yesterday to find peace re-established in the Dennison household. MIL is managable but FIL drives us nuts, one of those who has an opinion on everything (even if he knows nothing about it) and had to share it with you - if you walk away he meerly follows you. They are also quite large people and able to digest massive amounts of food so eat 4 times a day - glad to be back out the kitchen!!

DC had great time on x-mas day, DD wasnt too disappointed in not receiving requested Barbie doll, ride on pony or interactive pet. DS loved his pop up tunnels and tents and bob the builder trucks.

Santa brought me an even bigger belly, the last 2 weeks have seen massive changes, getting to the point where I cant see my feet.

Must get my skates on now as will be late for work. Catch up again soon.

EllieG · 28/12/2007 10:08

Hello everyone and welcome happyjot

Am glad is not just me with an ever-increasing belly!
elliebean is wiggling soooo much now - is great - I love feeling her though is a bit strange to have something moving independently of you.

Glad your xmas's went well scorpio and denny x

VictorianSqualor · 28/12/2007 13:53

Hey all, had a good xmas in this house, my dinner turned out perfect, though I was tipsy after my two glases of xmas day wine I allowed myself

scorpio1 · 28/12/2007 13:55

my dp cooked dinner and i didnt have any wine, or anything.

its only 3 weeks tomorrow i get married!

EllieG · 28/12/2007 15:30

Just been for ante-natal appt - they are going to refer me to phsyio if pain in hips doesn't improve before next one. Heard LO heartbeat going really strongly, which was fab though

This defo is TMI and very embarrassing.

Have had a bad cold recently and lots of sneezing and coughing and have noticed that despite doing pelvic floor exercises have had some leakage when coughing/laughing/sneezing. SOOOOO embarrassing. Told the midwife and she is refering me to a physio or something for that too.

I feel very

scorpio1 · 28/12/2007 15:33

don't Ellie, tis quite normal. my pelvic floor is non existent. I have to hold everything in when i sneeze, if i need a wee badly then a bit does come out . have to mention it to my MW though....

scorpio1 · 28/12/2007 15:36

oh and my friend had her baby just before xmas, at 33 weeks. her waters broke and she got infected, then they emergency cs. Little boy, 4.4lbs, Harvey.

She says she is ok, and he is not in scbu, just in a hot cot until next week, he is breathing and eating alone, and manages to suckle at the breast for short times! she says he is scarily small, her first baby a girl was 10lbs!

VictorianSqualor · 28/12/2007 15:37

Oh Ellie, I always leak a little when I really need a wee or when I sneeze/cough/laugh etc and as for when I vomit, well I full on wet myself a few times, remember even those pelvic floor exercises arent perfect when there is a baby laying on your bladder!!

VictorianSqualor · 28/12/2007 15:39

Wow scorpio, DD was born at 32 weeks, 5lb 1.5oz she was only so poorly because she got a pneumothorax, they said because she was so big her lungs werent able to keep her breathing and they tried to ventilate her but she fought it, causing herself problems, so she had to be sedated.
I udnerstand the size thing, Ds was 8lb 7.5oz so when he was born, compared to DD I felt like he was about 4 months old!

scorpio1 · 28/12/2007 15:42

i know, i was so worried, i got a text saying 'had harvey on the 24th by emergency cs, we are ok x'and thats it. i rang her, and she seems chirpy, her dp is being great and she didnt need anything or a lift to hospital etc, but she did say CS are nasty things and why would anyone choose one! (her first birth was natural).

im just so glad he is ok, i really am.

EllieG · 28/12/2007 15:52

Oh I will stop feeling like a yucky person then and just make sure I go to the loo plenty.

That's lovely about your friend scorpio - 4.4 llbs is soooo weeny! He must be very sweet. My friend had her twins just before xmas - 22nd - 6.6 llbs for one and 6.3 llbs for the other - quite impressive for twins I think! She was the size of a house though by the end and begging them to induce her.

scorpio1 · 28/12/2007 15:57

at the weights of those twins - my ds1 was 6.11 lbs on his own!!

EllieG · 28/12/2007 16:03

I know! It is lovely though because she and her DH tried for 2 years to have babies before tests confirmed her tubes were all blocked and he had slow swimmers so no chance conceiving naturally. Twins were a result of their first IVF attempt and was veyr difficult pregnancy, so she is over the moon that they are all lovely and big and healthy.

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 28/12/2007 18:32

I laways smile at VS's 32 weeker, mine was weighing less by four weeks old LOL (slightly mroe at birth (5.5lbs full term) but didnt gain for ages)- funny how they vary! I think Sam got down to 4 lbs 9oz IIRC but HV wouldn't weigh him as we only ahd locums over the Millenium, otherwise we would have been in SCBU I expect.

Sisters was in NICU for over a month at 4lb 4oz but couldn't cukle, he was 36 weeks I think,

On Christmas day my bump dropped 3 inches in one go LOL! I an now eat, breathe (always handy that! ) and my back is much, much better.I look even huger now though!

scorpio1 · 29/12/2007 17:15

we have now decided that the baby is infact Millie in RL, Taila was/is too unisex for us.

Now its just middle names...Teale? Scout? LOOOVE Scout (from cider with rosie) but dont think dp will budge...

VictorianSqualor · 29/12/2007 17:29

Isn't one of bruce willis and demi moores kids called Scout?? I like it, plus it's a middle name so it's not exactly going to be used.
We've changed names again.
Alexander for a boy (which we are both convinced it is), Brooke for a girl, although I keep referring to bump as Alex so it might be Alex for a girl if we get a shock!

scorpio1 · 29/12/2007 18:11

yeah i think you're right VS.

I know a girl called Alix. its fine for both! My dp always suggests Brooke but not for me
