Hello

OP posts:
PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 31/12/2007 11:29

I liked Benedict and Dh said it was a dogs name when shortened - typica isn't it?

melissa isn't bad, like charlotte too. kNow loads of Sophies so wouldn't go there myself but not a bad name.

SuzeM · 31/12/2007 11:31

VS, my SIL named her dog Suzie. I was not impressed!

VictorianSqualor · 31/12/2007 11:41

I prefer Sofia to Sophie myself.
Ugh at suze's SIL!!
Just found out my cousin had a little girl xmas eve morning and called her Georgia

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 31/12/2007 11:58

Georgia is nice

Love being with newborns atm, kept hogging nephew over christmas until DH got annoyed and grabbed him away for his own cuddles LOL

Fleecy · 31/12/2007 12:49

DD is Sophia so I second that VS!

DH doesn't like any of my names this time round so don't think we'll be deciding on anything til much nearer the time.

Anyone else doing absolutely nothing at all to celebrate NYE tonight? I'm not sure I can stay up til 12!

lorisparkle · 31/12/2007 13:11

Dh and I spent an hour or so last night deciding on a list of girls and boys names. Last time we had 2 boys names and loads of girls names but this time we have about 5 of each. When you are a teacher so many names have difficult connotations (hope I spelt that right!) and as we are both teachers it makes decisions hard.

I'm with you on the newborn front peachy. I am always offering to hold babies at the baby and toddler group and when at relatives. hoping this will help DS1 cope with a new addition. He had a doll for Christmas as well!

We are having a quiet NYE again

Bainmarie · 31/12/2007 13:16

We have no names agreed, am finding it very difficult so far, may wait and see if we will suddently be inspired!
A quiet NYE sounds good, I am off to a party with DH, but am already wondering how I will stay awake til midnight (may have a little sleep soon).
Hope you all have a good NYE.

scorpio1 · 01/01/2008 11:40

Happy new year!!

Well i went to bed at 11pm, could not stay awake any longer. my sinuses are all blocked, can't hear properly and head hurts. fun isn't it! MW rang because she thought i missed my appt (i hadn't) and she said she will see me on he 8th if im still poorly.

I am getting a little freaked but in a nice way....im over 25 weeks pg now, Millie will be here in like 14 weeks.....eek!!

Only 2 weeks Saturday until im married, wahoo! The 19th is the date!!

Dss has gone home today, so just me and my dcs at home today. it is very quiet and peaceful....it has been a little stressy. to say the least.

Toast - i like Charlotte, do yu like Lottie though? because people always try to shorten names.

DP has said now that we can call her Lacey if i want, i just don't know. I don't know anyone else called Lacey, which is nice, but we love Millie too. Millie is number 20 in the name charts though. We don't have any midle names decided, there are lots we like though. If her name is Millie i want something different for middle name, if her name is Lacey we will have something popular for a middle name.

So, Lacey or Millie ?

She has been kicking me all night, think she was kicking the inside of my cervix, like where she comes out from inside? it really hurt and she kept doing it until i poked her .

You all ok?

MassiveMollyfloss · 01/01/2008 11:50

Hello ladies and happy new year! and what a year it is going to be for all of us! I'm over 25 weeks now and feeling pretty good apart from a very annoying head cold and a little back pain (which is related to me doing to much - I have to slow down!)

Over Christmas my sister-in-law gave us tons of stuff that my niece had and another friend of ours is giving us loads too. I now have very little to buy (yippee!) and am cancelling my appointment at Babylist. My Mum is in London at the moment so we are shopping around for the few bits I need. Between family & friends I've been getting great advice and am quite enjoying the baby shopping. My DH is very excited too. His job is choosing the buggy and of course at first he wanted a bugaboo (apparently just because they look cool) but now it looks like we're getting a Phil & Ted's. They seem a lot more practical. Anyone have one?

On the whole pelvic floor exercise thing. Is anyone doing the kegel exercises? I think my pelvic floor is non existent. About how many a day should I do, quick one's, long one's....?

VictorianSqualor · 01/01/2008 13:03

I'd go with Lacey myself, I know quite a few Millies but only one Lacey.

I like Lottie or Charlie for Charlotte, though I had a friend at school called charlotte and we all called her Char, so there is that as a nickname too.

scorpio1 · 01/01/2008 13:06

I suppose i have enough time to figure out which one i like best. Trying to see how her name will fit for the rest of her life, iyswim?

Stacey in 'Enders real name is Lacey.

I don't know a Millie or a Lacey, but have heard parents shouting out Millie in tescos etc more and more lately.

scorpio1 · 01/01/2008 14:55

top 100 girls name 2003,4,5,6, and 7

Lacey is 82 this year having not been in it before, Millie number 21.

same for boys

Reilly (they spell Riley) is number 58, never been listed before!

See i am worried i will call her Lacey andthen in a year or two so will every other bugger, like Reilly!

Piccalilli2 · 01/01/2008 15:07

Hello all, happy new year (didn't actually see midnight, couldn't face staying up that late, my life is officially boring).

We're having real trouble with a name, we thought about Charlotte and Jessica but tried both out and didn't get on with them, last week was Juliet which we're both quite keen on, this week is Thea which I'm not sure about. I really, really want Olivia but dh is not keen. Any ideas how I can convince him?

I quite like Millie but it's very common round here, there are at least 3 at dd's nursery.

I think I'm 26 weeks now - lost count a bit. Third trimester here we come...

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 01/01/2008 15:17

You need to know what names are in your area really- for example Jack is so common yet there's only one in ds3's year, loads of HArry's of course (which is one of the reasons we use Harold). Likewise Sam is v. common yet only mine in his school year and only one other in the entire school. Not one Millie or Chloe at all! Might be worth asking anyone at the local playgroup etc?

I really like LAcey btw.

I managed midnight last night but did have a nap up until just before- couldn't help myself! Been seriously nesting today which is a newbie for me, clearing drawers etc ready for the baby. ind you I can say now its due month after next..... scary stuff!

scorpio1 · 01/01/2008 15:21

Good point Peachy.

ds1 has one jack and harry in his class, he is only Reilly i know.

I don't know any other kids called Jamie, though i know its popular. I don't know a Millie, at ds2 nursery girls are called Ruby, Honey etc, a few daisy's, that sort of thing.

Lacey is sounding better though to me at the moment.

I said to dp you know its january, well in 12 weeks we are going to be worrying oooh is this it every day! only that short time....eek!

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 01/01/2008 15:33

It's Ella for girls at pur school, hundreds of 'em! And a smattering of Megans as well.

VictorianSqualor · 01/01/2008 16:48

DD is Ella (well she is Danni-Ella) and there is only one other Ella in her school, but at her old school, different town there were tons, plus it's one I hear out and about a lot.
As we keep calling bump Alex we are thinking maybe Alexia for a girl, then Lexie or Alex for short, still Alexander for a boy at the moment.

I think Alex goes well with Bobby and Ella which I think you need to consider more when you have other DC's.

I was up until 12:15 last night lol, DD managed it pretty well whereas I had a nap on the sofa in the early evening

MassiveMollyfloss · 01/01/2008 18:13

Alex does go nicely with Bobby & Ella. I like Lacey and Charlotte too. It's so hard to choose a name. I'm glad I have mine more or less chosen. For a boy it would have been much more difficult!

happyjot · 01/01/2008 19:38

Hi all,

Hope you all had a great new year and didn't stay up to silly-o'clock like we did and are now paying the price as ds1 doesn't do past 6.30am, 2hrs sleep not a good idea when this pg espec with a stinkin cold.

Ellie G: I would def get to the physio, I have been diagnosed with spd from my first trimester and went to see the physio at my local hospital for a few appt. Loads of help, exercises and a "gorgeous" support belt to wear but it has really helped. I mean I was going up stairs on my hands and knees then and getting very terrifed when I would get bigger, now I only get the odd tinge and know what to do about it.

I am so relieved to hear other people commenting that they are getting big.I keep meeting other pg mums at play group etc who have the "petite" bump, you know, due the day after tomorrow but it's still perched at the front like a small xmas pudding, and they can't hide their surprise that I'm not due to April and look like the size of a large every expanding whale. Nice to know I'm not alone.

Just wondering if anyone out there has been through the due number 2 and not sure...buy another cot or more ds1 into a bed?,buy double buggy or get buggy board contraption ?
My dh and I are trying to decide for the best and as we are a bit strapped before maternity leave could do without spending unnecessary cash, any pearls of wisdom appreciated. Or even recommendations on double buggys.

Happy 2008 xox

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 01/01/2008 20:14

When we had ds2 (only a 13.5 month gap) we moved ds1 to a toddler bed which is still in use now for ds3, it has bed guards and is an easy option. We also did buy a double buggy and loathed it (no Phil and ted's in my day young lady! LOL)- we found it far easier to use a sling and single buggy until ds1 was ld enough to walk, so I would either go for that or a buggy board tbh.

VictorianSqualor · 01/01/2008 21:20

I'd go with Peachy tbh, there was quite an age gap between my two but I don't see the point in buying a cot if you have one, and then buying a bed later down the line, same goes for buggies.

Had to go back to the docs today, DS's 'cradle cap' didnt continue to look like cradle cap, so we took him to the docs a week or so before xmas, they said impetigo, he had antib's for a week, no effect, then they gavehim double strength (usually used for over 10 yr olds!) and he finished that yesterday, still has a pussy and weeping head, which bleeds every time it's touched.
Been given cream now but the poor boy has had a huge egg type lump on his crown that hurts, bleeds and weeps pus for the last three weeks
Apparently if this doesn't fix it he has to go to a dermatologist.

The lady in the chemist did the usual 'so when's this one due then' and I got the usual double take when I said April, and of course the age old question 'sure, there is only one in there??'

There's a new bump pic on my profile for a limited time only cos I look so dreadful!!

MassiveMollyfloss · 01/01/2008 21:34

Love the pic VS. that's a great looking bump! I'm pretty big myself but big is good

Elfsmummy · 01/01/2008 21:37

I've been pondering a double buggy too- there'll be exactly 2 years between my 2 and I'd pretty much decided that I wouldn't bother but recently DD has been going through a determined streak where she stages silent protests and lies on the floor! In Co op yesterday she lay down in front of the magazines in complete silence as she had seen an In the Night Graden Magazine and I was trying to get her to keep walking. Still at least she doesn't scream (yet!!)

As for the cot there is no way on this earth that I'm moving DD into a bed before the baby is born. She's a fantastic sleeper (touching every piece of wood going!) and I can count on 1 hand the number of times she's woken overnight in the past year. I've heard too many horror stories of this changing when they move into their beds/get a new sibling. Plus we're moving house in the next few months and I don't want too many changes at the same time. So we're borrowing my mum's cot for a few months and plan to have the baby well established in DDs life before we change anything else.

We hit the sack around 10 last night - light weights - but have had a fantastic Christmas. Was feeling a little sorry for the bump today as it doesn't get anything like the attention DD got when I was pregnant with her. Its crept up on me this time.

Still detest being pregnany though, not able to get comfy, feel huge, etc etc etc not to mention the varicose vein that has appear on my thigh!!

Happy New Year everybody - May it be a good one for us all

gemprincess · 01/01/2008 21:52

Hi ladies... Happy new year to you all.. Lets hope its a good one.. Sorry to hear bout your son VS, we been going through similar with Evie. She broke out in what i thought was allergy rash just before xmas. Took to dr and prescribed cream, Well has got worse to point she is scratching constantly and its spreading daily. Been back and forth to dr and all diagosed diff things.. They have no idea in other words. We ended up in a and e for 5 hours yesterday while they tried to decide.. Have really had enough of seeing her in so much pain, got private consultant app but not till 21st. Sorry starting to moan.. But just had every ilness etc thrown at us from shingles, to infected urticaria. ..Any ideas???

VictorianSqualor · 01/01/2008 22:00

I wish I did have gemprincess, it's so annoying isn't it?
The latest doctor told me they might consider soemthing called orf which is apparently a sheep disease but because we live opposite a cattle farm it was possible, then there was no mention of it when we went to see the locum today!?
I assume they've suggested things like cool baths, calomine lotion and anti-histimines(normally piriton) to try and ease the irritation??
