Hello

OP posts:
DennytwasNewYear · 18/12/2007 20:27

Scamp I thought it was just me and our aging PC that was having trouble loading up the talk pages, who much does it annoy you?
Sorry your having shit time at work, just think in a few months you wont have to worry about it.

ScamparumpapumpMum · 18/12/2007 20:50

thanks, I know. I was looking up how early I can start maternity leave today. Is it 29 weeks? I think sanity is more important than being solvent... or is it?

ScamparumpapumpMum · 18/12/2007 20:51

oh, and it REALLY annoys me. Reminds me of the old dial-up days!

DennytwasNewYear · 18/12/2007 21:10

29 weeks sounds familiar, Im working as late as poss though to keep leave for after. Stopped at 35 with DS so cold have summer hols off with DD by 40 weeks I was going stir crazy then he was a week late. I have formsto hand in tom to say starting ML on 30/3 then have section on 2/4, but do have couple of weeks hol to take B4 that.

No holby tonight, Ive had to do my ironing infront of E4 instead, what are they playing at, neighbours isnt back till the new year either.

PortAndLemonaid · 18/12/2007 21:38

Yes, it's 29 weeks. I'm going at around 33 or 34, I think (put in my official notification on Monday). DH is working in Edinburgh at the moment and probably will be at that stage too, so that gives DS and me a chance to spend a week up there actually seeing something of him before he heads off on his Everest trek. And then in theory we should have a couple of weeks after he gets back before the birth...

Have occasionally been tempted by the 29 week option, though...

Just handing in form for 34+5 (Easter Thurs). Was going to be a week later but only really three days more I'm taking because of Easter. Just feels more manageable. I also wanted to leave it as late as possible for ££ reasons, but I spent all yesterday morning on the verge of tears and it's JUST NOT WORTH IT. I also spend my entire commute in fantasising about ways to deliver my boss's just desserts (other than the Custard Pie To Face Express - satisfying but too quick).

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 19/12/2007 10:44

Mornin' all. Am trying to be healthier today so NO biscuits.
Have just eaten a packet of crisps though

I'm taking all my annual leave so can finish first week of March and leave as much maternity leave for after as possible. Taking unpaid leave for a few months after that so will be very skint! I figure not being able to afford to eat will help me get my figure back though

I'm doing that too - mat leave will begin on Mon after due date so paid for four months after baby born, then SMP for another five. Hoping to take full year, then resign, then get altogether new job (which isn't HORRIBLE and which can be done part-time, oh, and which also somehow pays two childcares in spite of me being entry-level ).

Annieroo · 19/12/2007 11:01

Good morning all, haven't been on for a while but just about got through all your posts!

Am going to take all my leave before going on Mat leave (our leave runs jan - dec) and will be finishing end of Feb. so can have a full 5 weeks off before starting mat leave at week one week before DD. Only get paid six weeks, then smp for 33 and the rest unpaid. our company is going under a re-organisation while i'm off - so not sure whether i will get a job (if) i return to work.

bashboid · 19/12/2007 11:47

Blimey, haven't been on for a couple of days and so many new messages! Scamparumpapumpmum, we are in Grove Park so a little way round from you. Not far from you in Orpington either BiancaP.
I'm off work until 27 Dec now . Then only two months to go at work before baby leave starts. Like you Annieroo, I'm taking all five weeks annual leave first and then starting maternity leave on due date. We also only get pay for first six weeks and then SMP etc so it's going to be tough towards the end of the year.

Annieroo · 19/12/2007 11:58

Am thinking things will be tough towards the end too. What makes things really annoying is that some staff where i work get six months paid leave (they're on a different contract) doesn't give you much incentive to stay at home really does it. DP will just have to work a little harder to keep me in the manner which i would like to be accustomed to!!

bashboid · 19/12/2007 12:04

I know, at our place there is the option of being paid a good proportion of your salary for six months or something but if for any reason you don't go back at the end of your leave or you only stay for a little while, you have to pay it all back. Although it is unlikely I won't be going back, I'm not willing to take that risk as there is no way I will be able to pay all that back as will no doubt have spent every penny on lots of tempting cute baby things!!

TLSM · 19/12/2007 12:27

Hi all I have just ordered loads of bits for my little men from the Boden sale spent £150 but got loads of lovely bits

I will going on maternity leave from thr 25th April baby due on 26th Sat but will be taking the three weeks before as holiday! i have a plan to make a little bit of money whilst on maternity leave I will be doing my Dads accounts for the petrol money to see my mum and dad every other week (they live in a villiage just outside peterbrough so a good 150 miles away) then I have found an auction that sells lost and found from the airports and train stations and they get pushchairs really cheap last week i saw three maclaren XTs sell for £15 for the lot they needed cleaning up but my thoughts are bidding on the bundles every other week then cleaning them up and selling them on ebay that should cover my shopping bills then with the SMP we should be ok no holiday next year mind although my mum and dad have a lovely big house over looking fields with a swimming pool and nice walks so will go and stay there in the summer

right out to my christmas lunch with my best friend x

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 19/12/2007 13:33

Just got back from ym scan, baby is growing fine but not getting the right blood from the placenta or something, so have been reffered to the specialist unit atthe hospital and have to go back on the 3rd to see a whole host of people. (cons. mw. obs etc.)

TLSM · 19/12/2007 13:35

oh gosh VS at least they have spotted it have they said what they can do? at Max's 20 week scan they told me there was low fluid and I had to have that checked every week and he was induced two weeks early turns out all was fine so hopfully the same for you x

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 19/12/2007 13:47

Not sure what that means VS but is good has been picked up nice and early, and that you are getting seen.

I have another scan tomorrow - can't wait to see little Eliiebean! (Who is no longer beanish but still goes by that name)

OP posts:
TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 19/12/2007 13:53

I dont know what they can do tbh, I'm looking it all up now, they didn't tell me much, just that I'm at high risk of developing pre-eclampsia or IUGR.
Worst case scenario I'll get eclampsia and baby will need delivering, best case, it'll all be fine.
My VBA2C is probably going to be out the window though, this new consultant isn't as happy for them as my one apparently.

eva07 · 19/12/2007 14:02

just got back from my scan too and I've been told to come back on jan.07 as beany's chamber of the heart (sorry if phrase not right, don't have a med. dictionary) seems to be not right and they want to check again.
and the doctor told me to be glad (!!!) that there were no further signs for ds (which was the reason I had this scan) sorry, but what a fxxxing attitude for a (female) doctor at a gynaecological hospital.

vs: ((hugs))

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 19/12/2007 14:07

Oh eva, certainyl not a great day for thescans then, is anyone else having anything today?
(((eva)))

MassiveMollyfloss · 19/12/2007 14:17

Hi all,

Hope all the problems found with the scans sort themelves out very soon. It's good at least that they picked them up now.

Lemonaid: Where is the London SW thread - can't find it...

Regarding the kicking, I've heard that after 28 weeks it isn't as bad because the little ones don't have as much room to move around. Is this true?

Dolly, don't knock not putting on weight! Enjoy while it lasts. Just make sure you use loads of stretch mark oil or cream as apparently if you do just suddenly put on weight that is when you are most likely to get stretch marks. Maybe there is some advantage of putting on tons of weight slowly

eva07 · 19/12/2007 14:21

no, not a good scan-day today
hope you get your VBA2C though, vs. will keep thinking of you and tiny tim.

eva07 · 19/12/2007 14:25

and I think I will send a message to MN headquarter. I need a [hug] smiley

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 19/12/2007 14:44

VS if you need any advice/ support CAT me, that's what happened to Sam's placenta and caused his IUGR (5ln5oz at full term induced), we went to eclampsia but that was shite care rather than anything else. The isue isn't implicated in his SN btw, that's genetic- just to reassure you!

Went out today and was very naughty and treated myself to a pir of shoes which I will wear all christmas now. Feeling very naughty and more than a little bit better than I did yesterday as a result! ho ho ho
