Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Naetha · 15/12/2007 17:49

Just taken two thanks! And making sure I drink lot as I have a bad habit of not drinking!

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 15/12/2007 17:58

Loads of fluid - birthing ball & keep the paracetamol topped up.

sabinar · 15/12/2007 19:13

oooh, Naetha - that's so exciting! It all sounds v promising!

(Although, makes me feel nervous now that it looks like we're all starting to get ready to drop as I still have a mountain of work to get through before Christmas and I want at least a couple of weeks of pottering about at home before LO puts in an appearance! Better get stuck into that list of things to do just in case!)

Bit of a lazy day here. DH had his Christmas Party last night so I'll leave you to imagine how much sleep I got by the time he finally got in (rang doorbell as he couldn't locate his keys, lovely - then collapsed, reeking of booze, into bed and commenced snoring and attempting to snuggle.... I should have moved to the spare room as it was just horrible and I got virtually no sleep, but was too stubborn to do so).

I hopped up this morning and went to yoga to chill out, then got the last set of curtains (for the bedroom) and did some shopping for an early Christmas dinner I'm cooking tomorrow for some friends, then came home and collapsed on the sofa for an afternoon nap. (DH is still upstairs in bed feeling sorry for himself. I'm still being cranky at him!)

Don't suppose there's much chance of him doing the tiny amount of DIY he was supposed to be doing this weekend - yet another reason why LO will be doing us a favour if he hangs on a little longer...!

spackcat · 15/12/2007 19:41

merrykaty, what a fab idea! Where did you get the braces from? my trousers are driving me nuts! They are not too big but they are under the bump and keep slipping off me bum!(They were on the bump when I bought them originally - think I have expanded too much for blooming marvelous' standards!) My jeans keep doing it aswell, they have a big jersey bit but as they are quite old the stretch has gone in them!

spackcat · 15/12/2007 19:43

I don't think I can stand another 6 weeks of workman's bum!

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 15/12/2007 19:46

Spackcat - You still got 6 weeks? I think i'd be getting annoyed by now then as wel!!

gingemebells · 15/12/2007 19:47

Evening ladies. Sounds like your doing well Neatha.
I went to Mothercare World today and bought 4 gorgeous nursing bras and the lady was so helpful. She even apologised for the tape measure being cold.
Bought a bouncy chair for baby too as we cant find ours! Went to ToysRus after and bought ds4 an Upsey Daisy and ds1 and ds2 a Robosapien and a Homersapien. Basicaly they are robots that can copy you and your demands as well as do their own things.
Been getting loads of Braxton Hicks since we got back and can realy feel babys head squirming about down there. Quite painful at times.
Well Im off to have a relax in the bath now my ds's are fast asleep.
Try to get some rest Neatha
Take care everyone else. xx

spackcat · 15/12/2007 19:55

Have bought some more jeans on ebay yesterday - hopefully these will fit better! Isn't it amazing how hard it is to find a pair of jeans that A: fit nicely, B: are comfy and C: actually do something for you?, that was a hard enough task before pg - near impossible now!

spackcat · 15/12/2007 19:57

Especially when you have chubby, stubby little legs like mine!

spackcat · 15/12/2007 20:02

Stretchy, skinny type jeans make my arse look like kenny everett's take on rod stewart's backside!

sabinar · 15/12/2007 20:17

lol. I bought some skinny type maternity jeans - despite the fact that I am far from skinny, I am suffering from the delusion that the enormity of my bump makes my butt/legs look RELATIVELY skinny...

... that probably doesn't mean the jeans look any good, but it's a theory I'm sticking to for at least the next couple of weeks

Awenamanger · 15/12/2007 22:27

Naetha - ooo how exciting Hope this is it for you. Still getting on and off ones here. Managed to walk around milestones museum today but very uncomfortable. Getting tightenings now, painful but more like period pain. Still just trying to pretend not happening/ignire them as I guess when it gets to the point i simply cant ignore them etc then i might call mw

Awenamanger · 15/12/2007 22:28

re maternity jeans - I bought a bump band a while back - complete life saver here as no jeans stayh up on me.

madChristmasmouse · 15/12/2007 22:50

Night all

Naetha, I hope it will be a productive night for you

Talking of which, does anybody have any idea why I cleaned the toilet, bathroom and kitchen, cooked and washed up, did the laundry and the handwash and the shopping and the kitchen floor on my knees in one day at nearly 34 weeks. Will this get any worse? .

Naetha · 16/12/2007 08:36

[insert bored emoticon]

Well, I'm still here, the tightenings are every 8 minutes, regular as clockwork and excuse the phrase, but feck all is happening!

Last night I thought I was making some progress - were closer together and really getting painful, but I was absolutely knackered (3 hours sleep in 36 hours) so went to bed and they got a lot less intense. They were still happening all night (or at least every time I woke up I was having one!) but very mild. At least I've managed to get some decent sleep though

Don't really know what to do now, whether I bother going into hospital to see if things have happened at all, or just carry on as "normal".

Naetha · 16/12/2007 09:59

Also don't know if it's hormones or just the whole anti-climax but I am in a foul mood - snapping at everyone and everything, throwing phones across rooms etc (which I might add is very rare for me!). Think I might just cry in a bit.

Doesn't help that bleedin parents and PILs (all 4 different sets of them) keep on ringing for "updates" when we've told them a hundred times we'll call if anything happens! Next time we're not mentioning a word until I've actually given birth! Also, don't know if you guys think this is slightly odd, but FIL's gf (imagine Hyacinth Bucket, but from Leeds) keeps on sending us overly cutesy e-cards - WE HAVEN'T HAD THE DAMN THING YET - LEAVE US ALONE!!!!!

OK, feel much better now, thanks for listening

sabinar · 16/12/2007 10:15

MadMouse - I believe that cleaning floors on hands and knees is excellent for Optimal Foetal Positioning. You may in fact be saving yourself a couple of hours of labour ;)

Naetha - I can understand why you're feeling grumpy, I reckon I'd feel the same. I'd be putting all the phones on silent and just ignoring them for the time being. Hang in here - it might not seem like you're making much progress, but I bet your body is just doing whatever it needs to do to make sure you have the best birth possible. hugs Will be thinking of you today! Do what you can to stay relaxed and rested and make sure you get some food for energy!

Todays plans for me involve getting a load of work done and doing a little orphans Christmas lunch. That's it

Hope you all have a lovely day ahead!

toomanyshoes · 16/12/2007 11:44

Chin up Naetha, you never know it might all kick off at any minute! I am being inundated with 'any news?' texts and calls too.
Was having regular contractions last night then had a show this morning so hoping thats a good sign that I might be dilating a bit more. Period type pain and backache now so off to soak in the bath while DD watches Dora the Explorer with DH!
Big wave to everyone, hope you are having restful Sundays

Amani · 16/12/2007 12:03

Morning all,

Naetha - How exciting, although sorry yoy are feeling fed up - hope things progress quickly for you. How about another clarey sage bath - maybe it might help?

Well this weekend, I've:

*Eaten 2 pineapple (in one go and felt so queasy afterwards)
*Lots of spicy Indian food and a jar of jalepeno peppers (with sour cream - yum yum)
*Long walks up and down a very steep hill
*A bumpy car ride down a country lane
*Keeping active by cleaning house meticulously
*Countless cups of RLT - which were very disgusting might I add

and the result.....NOTHING!! NOT EVEN A TWINGE!!

In fact I slept 9 solid hours last night waking up once for the loo only....

gingemebells · 16/12/2007 12:34

Wow its all happening here isnt it? Sounds like were going to have some early Christmas bundles
Funny enough I have been cleaning loads today too even washing the skirting boards all over the flat and I washed my fridge out and have done tow lots of washing and drying. My parents are on the way to Cyprus now till the 30th. Ive told baby hell have to hang on till they get back though.
Oh Neatha so know how you feel being fed up and everyone asking 'hows it going?' and 'any progress yet?'. I have already said to dh dont ring or text anyone till I am atleast in the pool this time or baby has arrived.
Oh Anami Im suprised you havnt got guts ache eating all that or atleast terrible heartburn.
Neatha scuse me for being blunt dear but does dh fancy, erm, getting jiggy with it, so to speak ? That might help things along a bit . Just a suggestion. Might lift your mood a bit too.
Well Im just waiting for ddh to get back. Hes getting the car serviced. Then were off to Tesco to get our Christmas veg and wine and some icing. My ds2 has made a Christmas cake and he wants to decorate it here with me
Will pop by later to see how all is progressing.

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 16/12/2007 12:43

Morning all,

Wierd day today. After the strange behaviour from the cats yesterday I finished off the nursery (well I put the chest of drawers, bath and change mat in there, lol) Went to bed and am constantly hurting now.

Hips, belly and back. I can't close my legs properly (feels like I've been horse-riding) when I bend my knees they hurt and won't bend properly.

Just tidied the kitchen and ended up racing to the loo needing a pee only to get there and be too late, there was loads of mucus as well (TMI SORRY )

Naetha - Hope things get going, TBH though sounds as though its gonna be a slow labour.
Amani - Well done on eating the jalepenos, DP eats them and they are WAY too spicy for me.
Awen - Hope things pick up soon for you, or at least fade enough for you to have a relax.

Everyone Else - Have a good day, I'm going to put my feet up before they start swelling as well.

Lulubump · 16/12/2007 13:28

Ooh, Lucky, d'you think that could have been a show/your waters leaking?
So exciting to hear everyone's progress. I'm off to do the Xmas grocery shopping this afternoon....and will prob buy a few ingredients for things to freeze (e.g. soups, lasagna). Madmouse, I saw that same soft toy in Muji, and thought the elephant one was sooo cute.
Naetha, hang in there.
Mixedmama - thanks for the tip re: M&T groups, I'll def do some research.
Have a good Sunday all!

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 16/12/2007 13:30

I'm not sure, it may have possibly been a show cos I've never had mucus before, but tbh I'm not sure about the waters haven't wet my pants since I was really young but I don't remember "needing" the loo. Strange!! haha

How are you Lulu? Anything happening in your house?

I still haven't put my decs up, they're in the attic, SO not in xmas spirit

madChristmasmouse · 16/12/2007 14:34

Ooh, you guys are all making me feel of still have so long to wait. Although if I count till 37 weeks there is only three to go, but then there could easily be another four .

But cleaning and nesting is continuing unabated here, at the moment the car seat lining is in the washing machine (it has been in friends' attic for a few years)and I keep on seeing things that need tidying sorting and cleaning. Surprise to have slept well after the abuse I gave my poor back yesterday.

Anyways, sending positive labour vibes to all who want them and keep us posted.

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2007 15:38

It's all go ins't it ladies! Good luck to all of you.

I've just had midife visit. Baby is 3/5 engaged and is still big. Looks like about 4.5 kilos! May have a scan next Monday. The midwife thinks my tummy is very tense - like I'm having constant BHs but says there's nothing really to suggest an early baby. She says painful BHs are normal. Good lord! I'm not sure what I think about another 25 days (or more!) of this.

I'm with you on the 'horseriding' thing, Lucky. That's how I feel. I'm walking like John bleeding Wayne!

Gingeme- I hear you on the Christmas decs. Must get them done this week. Christmas spirit is required!

Funny - haven't done any out-of-the-ordinary cleaning yet....
