Hi everyone!!! Had a mad day at work today (and actually did some work! ) so am only just now catching up...
Well done Susie and Lolo on the new thread and catchy title
Naetha - LOL at 'norks' but yes, I agree with you. In fact, I think I lost all my dignity/self-consciousness forever the day I delivered DS with 12 doctors in attendance discussing my epesiotomy (sp?) in great detail!
Curtains - we've just hung new curtains in ds's new room, and have attached the blackout lining (£40 from Homebase) to the curtains (£40 B&Q) without any stitching at all - they're just hanging one behind the other on 2 rows of hooks. Seems to work fine and should make it much easier to wash the curtains on their own anyway. DH did something a bit clever as he hung them and they look fine. No sewing, no sticky tape, no ironing...the only way to go
MrsMc - hi hon Good to see one of your famous posts and well done on the personal content . In answer to your questions (but possibly not in order)
- An old slobby t-shirt and some old thin thai cotton trousers, both of which I like but will bin happily if they get ruined. Last time I had plenty of time to remove said trousers prior to the delivery. I'll be wearing cotton knickers and packing about 8 spare pairs for before/during/after (gosh, cannot begin to describe how much I hate the paper ones!), again, will bin quite happily if they get ruined. Finally, I'll have a spare t-shirt and vest top, and some spare cotton trousers in my bag, along with a bikini top on the off chance I get to fulfill my dream of a water birth....
- I took stuff last time but didn't light any candles or use any, so probably won't both this time around. Although an oil burner in the corner with something chilled in might be nice......ok, maybe something else for the bag!
- We've got the Tomy one which shows temperature and lights up depending on noise volume. It's been great - we've got quite variable temperatures in the house so its good to keep an eye on the nursery, and the lights mean we can put it on silent and still know if the baby is awake/crying/screaming. Mrs B and Naetha: We never used it at night, as the nursery is right next to our bedroom and we had doors open, but it was great for enabling us to watch TV with confidence with the doors closed downstairs, without having to worry we weren't hearing something. Also it's quite useful for knowing exactly when the baby has woken up from a nap, even if you have no intention of running in straightaway
Lucky S & everyone else - swimming is fine as soon as they've had all their shots. AFAICR that's around the 3 month mark, but it might be a scrap later. Some pools (like the one at my local gym) won't take babies below 6 months, it depends on how warm/cold the water is.
Awen - big hugs hon, keep us in the loop. Oh, and keep on breathing !! Been thinking of you lots...might even try to sort out my hospital bag basics sometime soon...!!
I had a checkup with my GP this morning who sent me off for extra blood tests as I'm so knocked out (but then, we're all exhausted, aren't we?!), and told me to take it easier. Apparently I'm to take some time off work if I don't start feeling bouncier.... Anyway, that motivated me to sort out my mat leave dates, so I am now stopping working on Thursday 10th January, which gives me a full 1.5 weeks before my EDD to try to relax, get some sleep, clean and re-redecorate the nursery and fill the freezer with home cooked foods....
I must admit that I'd love to stop sooner, but with xmas in the middle it really isn't that long to go....
OK, I think I've wittered on for long enough, and anyway, its definitely time to leave the office!!!
Hugs and love and kisses and fluffy stuff to all, Fluffy xxx
