Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2007 15:40

Sideways - how is the HG, if you're there? I seems to be getting really really nauseous again, despite still being on the meds. You?

Naetha · 16/12/2007 16:22

Hi again folks - thanks for all the good vibes but to no avail - everything's died off for now! Me and DH agreed it's probably a very good thing really, as it gives us time to properly get stuff sorted, also next week would be a really poor week for DH to take off work as it's the last one before the Xmas shutdown and half of his colleagues are already on leave!

Still getting the odd contraction - did a bit of a monster Morrisons shop - all our usual stuff, plus Christmas stuff, and a few extra non-perishables that will come in handy over the next few weeks when normal shopping isn't so easy!

Amani - I've tried everything on your list except for pineapple (ironically, I have a slight allergy to the thing that actually causes you to go into labour - it's only a minor allergy [maketh me thalk like thith] so I got one in Morrisons anyway ) and the meticulous house cleaning (nesting instincts only going as far as tidying stuff up at the moment!). I have also tried clary sage baths and massages on bump, and some "jiggy-jiggy" (as Gingeme put it ) that DH was very happy to oblige me with! Ooh and I tried nipple stimulation as well - that actually seemed to really get things going (once they were already going that is), but resulted in sore nipples, so gave up after a while, especially as I didn't want to jeapordise my chances of BF just because I was too impatient to get stuff started!

I think the main reason I was so upset/over-emotional was that I'd got myself in the mindset that things were happening - essentially this is probably going to be one of the toughest things I ever do, and I had got myself into the mental "zone" to cope with that. So to then find myself all worked up and nowhere to go was frustrating to say the least! Still, it's all preparation

Hope everyone else is feeling OK, and getting everything done that they want to

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 16/12/2007 16:36

I think i'm getting contractions but I can still feel baby kicking and hitting me so they can't be contractions can they? [fingers crossed emoticon]

I can't go into labour yet!! I need to wait till at least Thursday to get my homebirth!! I need some "stay in there" vibes.

madChristmasmouse · 16/12/2007 16:43

Lucky

Here come the stay-in-there-Lucky's-little-one vibes. Please please please lucky's bump, listen to your mummy it is much more fun being born at home promise!

Lucky, I think baby is supposed to be active during labour so don't pin your hopes on that (sorry ) and phone the mw when you get regular and painful ones.

xx

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 16/12/2007 16:50

Oh MCM!! that's not what I wanted to hear!!! lol. I've got some real sharp pains in my pelvis area and few tightenings but nothing painful (just uncomfortable and annoying) and not regular in the slightest!

Thanks for the vibes though. I'd cross my legs but they hurt too much to do that (john-wayne-type legs)

Going to sit down and hope that they fade away if I don't annoy them! haha

madChristmasmouse · 16/12/2007 17:03

Try a bath with some lavender and a pot of tea (not in the bath water, just for drinking ). Maybe you have just overdone things.

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2007 19:21

Anyone else being utterly over-emotional? I'm a wreck! It's like the worst teenage PMT ever!

I fear poor DH is heading for an undeserved tongue lashing at some point ...

Naetha · 16/12/2007 19:33

Absolutely Susie - like I said earlier I was driven to the point of throwing the (cordless - duh!) phone across the room because FIL had rung up for the 3rd time in 10 minutes, but as I'd figured he wouldn't ring again I put it on to charge in the other room - when it rung I struggled out of the sofa to run and get it, then he rung off just as I got there!

I was then crying (silently I hope, although it was probably blatantly obvious) when I was on the phone to the midwife and she was telling me kindly that these pre-labour contractions can go on for weeks.

DH has been snapped at several times, but we're always good with eachother - we always apologise immediately if we take something out on the other and it wasn't meant.

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 16/12/2007 19:43

Yep Hormones-R-Us here too!!

I spent the other night crying my eyes out for loads of reasons that meant nothing. DP wouldn't get out of bed, I was fed up of doing nothing but watching TV, Tidying up and sleeping (or trying to) Baby was beating me up and for a horrid moment I was annoyed and didn't even want it. Which of corse set me off even worse. lol

I'm going for a bath in a bit as suggested. Still a few twinges.

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2007 20:00

Ugh - it's just awful! Have been sitting on the sofa all day just thinking, 'I want my baby. Where is she?' and very little else. I have warned DH to be careful!

DH has been thinking up names of TV programmes that would be 'ideal' for me to watch - We've decided the best would be called 'Small Babies in Danger'. At least he got a laugh out of me! I think he understands ....

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 16/12/2007 20:07

Me & Dp take the mick (seen Friends? The one where Racheal is overdue and shouting at Ross) "I've got a fresh batch of hormones" lol. So whenever I start he just gives me a hug and walks off. (which sometimes drives me insane but mostly works)

Lulubump · 16/12/2007 20:15

Lol at everyone's hormonal outbursts. My poor DH, I've been wavering between being really loving and cuddly, and being evil and whiny.

Nothing happening for me, in terms of contractions/labour though. Although had a bit of a fright yesterday - went to visit my MIL, and went to the loo upstairs. When I came back downstairs, I slipped at the bottom of the stairs, and before I knew it, I was lying flat on my back, stretched out in the corridor . Jarred my lower back, and my hip, but lulu seems fine - had lots of movement last night and today, thankfully.

Told DH today that I'm planning to have our baby this Tuesday. He just looked at me like I was utterly nuts . It wouldn't be too early (37 +4), and my MIL is out of the coutry til next week, which TBH is my main notivation . She means well, bless her, but is a bit suffocating. I still haven't bought a bed for the spare room, so will scupper her plans to move in for 2 weeks after lo born , without having a confrontation.

Naetha, my DH is half Italian, and apparently, THE BEST thing to kickstart labour is parmigiana (aubergine layered with cheese, and tomato sauce, kind of like lasagna, but with no pasta). Its completely delicious, if anyone wants a recipe, let me know, and I'll post it.

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2007 20:23

Interesting about the Parmigiana. I think i could see my way clear to trying that. about the fall. I have been in a constant state of dread about such a thing. Glad all is fine.

Lucky - your DH seems to have the right idea.

DH has in fact decided to veto all 'small baby in danger' ptoential TV programmes. Our list of possible TV programmes is getting very short.

  • No CSI (potential small baby danger)
  • No 'Gorillas in the Mist' (small baby gorillas in danger)
  • No 'Cliffhanger' (Sylvester Stallone was once a small baby - the film shows him in danger).

We're down to snooker and Match of the Day . At least Arsenal won today. Can't imagine how I'd feel if not.

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 16/12/2007 20:31

Susie you an arsenal fan? DP's an everton fan and so by default so are me and bump, lol.

Lulu - to hear about your fall, glad your ok though. Take it easy.

AngelenelarbolChica · 16/12/2007 20:33

Lots been going on here! Congrats to Fruitful and glad to hear you and Theo doing well. Thinking of the contracting ladies too.

I don't seem to be showing any signs of pains, BHs, twinges etc. at all! Only 36 weeks tho.

I am with everyone on the hormonal tearful front, though. I'm just geting fed up with the "hunted" look DH gets in his eyes every time I try and bring up subject of baby / birth... wore a pink top yesterday and he called me Barbarpapa all day.

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2007 20:36

LOL at the 'hunted look'. and at Barbarpapa - he's a brave man.

I am one continuous Braxton Hick but MW said it didn't mean an early baby. Think that's what triggered my 'I want to hold her' emotional fit all afternoon.

sideways · 16/12/2007 20:51

Susie - hi. Yes, I am still being sick. I haven't been on any medication for a few months now, and don't really feel I need it or want to take it, but I still feel quite sick a lot of the time and have been sick several times over the last week. At least the end is is sight .

Feel sorry for you still on the meds.

Awenamanger · 16/12/2007 21:11

toomanyshoes - sounds promising.

Naetha - totally understand where you are coming from

Still getting tightenings, no progress tho. With ds i was already in hosp in early labour at this point. Kind of expected the same with this one but obviously he has just gotten comfy again. DP wont entertain the idea of some hanky panky as he is saying he will come when ready etc etc. it isnt him who has been contracting for fecking ages with little sleep. GOt a stinking cold now too so even less sleep with the tightenings, loo breaks and blocked nose. Def got GG.

I am a bit ranty as well atm. Feel intensly irritated.

Awenamanger · 16/12/2007 21:12

Also (tmi) I keep have wetness down there.. watery. Think I might be slowly leaking and pretty sure isnt wee.

ayrshirelolo · 16/12/2007 21:34

OOOOoooooooooo!!!!! don't log on for a whole day and what happens? It's all geting really exciting!!! who's gonna be next i wonder?
Positive contracting vibes to those ready to go, hang on in there to the bumps not quite ready yet!! and sympathy to Madmouse... i'm not due till day after you so i'll keep you company for a few weeks longer!!!!
Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and i'm watching with interest.... and Susie, i SO remember the "i want to cuddle my baby" feeling from last time... dd was born about 2 days later! And don't want to upset anyone, but i didn't have "regular" contractions neatly spaced apart at all.... just that i had a really upset stomach all day (sorry, tmi ) my waters broke, and then i was in a fair amount of pain from then on in which settled to about 3 contractions in 10 mins after a couple of hours, but never neatly spaced apart! Maybe i'm just weird, though!!
Sending good vibes to all..... whatever you wish for tonight!!! lolo xx

sabinar · 17/12/2007 08:22

to those with 'wetness' - at my last midwife visit she was asking whether I'd experienced any of that - apparently it can be a symptom of the cervex effacing/thinning. So, a v good sign! (If you're after a pre-Christmas babe. In my case, not such a great sign!)

May this week be the week for those of you who are seeking pre-Christmas babes! For me - I just want to get all my work done so that I can kick back and enjoy a couple of weeks of not working before LO arrives!

gingemebells · 17/12/2007 10:17

Good morning ladies feel like crap today. I have caught ds's cold. I have a very sore throat too
On a good note we have done all our Christmas grocery shopping now including turkey crown.
Posisitve labour vibes to all you contracting and 'wet' ladies.
Just a few Braxton Hicks here nothing major yet. Just want to get Christmas out the way then I can relax a bit.
Have a good

day all xxxxx

MrsMcJnr · 17/12/2007 12:19

Hey ladies sounds like a very interesting few days on here ? lots of rumbling volcanoes ? I don?t think it?ll be long before Theo has a friend do you? All fine with me, very tired after a hectic but good weekend and I only have 3 more days of work after this one ? anyone else finishing up this week? Managed to stay up until 2am on Sat night at my MIL?s surprise 60th at our house! [shookk] I paid for it yesterday but it was a good night and she had a ball so that?s the important thing!!

Sabinar ? glad to hear you are on the mend I have finished all classes now too which technically means I am meant to be prepared scary! I have ordered an Elle TENS, I figured that as I?d like more babies (ask me after the birth again!) it would be handy to have my own. It?s not arrived yet though (I got it on Amazon). I need to get some extra pads for it but have heard they are a good price at Mothercare. I have tried that Bach?s Rescue Remedy for stress in the past and I don?t think it helped me so am not a believer I know what you mean about those BF tops, I prefer the wrap around ones I think (have a look on eBay at the online shops) must get a couple.

Gingeme ? loving the festive name! your room sounds lovely, very relaxing place to be! Good point about the curry and what else it might bring on besides labour I?m really off curry at the moment anyway! I have bought some arnica cream but have subsequently heard (on here!) that the tablets work better. I am going to try and get those, the raspberry leaf tea, the lavender oil and clary sage and a room spray at Neal?s Yard this afternoon. I was advised that tea bagged raspberry leaf isn?t any good ? it has to be fresher than that to have any effect. I?ve ordered 2 nursing bras ? I thought I?d wait and see what happens size wise before getting any more. how annoying about the sheets ? I get cross when people borrow things and don?t give them back

Beller ? hope Babybel has re-assured you, my Beanie has quiet days too and I get worried. I guess maybe they only have room to wriggle now! I?m going to buy some clary sage today I noticed that DH?s Radox muscle bath has clary sage in it too. Glad to hear you got peace of mind at the hospital how was the dinner dance? 1am was a good effort!!

Fluffy ? wow! That does sound big hon, let?s hope your baby runs out of room and comes early! I am having a growth scan on Thursday so hoping for good but normal progress Last time (34weeks) we were on the 50th percentile (4lb6) but I was never going to have a huge baby with my condition (though people love to tell me that from looking at me the baby is going to be massive ? with no grounds at all as like you, my fundal height is less than my weeks!! )

Susie ? thanks for your message hon, I know you are right! My MIL actually felt a little kicking foot on her birthday so she was so excited! Change of bump shape with contractions sounds very interesting! I was thinking the same about the carry cot. I have a bugaboo and didn?t realise that I couldn?t use the footmuff in the carry cot but there is nothing to stop me from putting the baby down on it in its snowsuit to make it more comfy I guess. I?ve heard about the tea tree oil too ? I already have some, great for preventing ingrowing hairs from waxing!

Lulubump ? poor you, those nerve tests sound awful I?m going to test my TENS machine out in advance (yoga woman last week advised that from 38 weeks) to see how I like it. I had acute rheumatioid arthritis during an illness a few years ago and the nerve pain was unbearable so I understand that awful feeling.

Sideways ? of course we noticed that you weren?t here!!!!!! Why have you been hiding? how are you?

Fruitful ? been thinking about you a lot hon and wishing you and Theo well great that he is now breathing unaided sorry about all the staples are you ok? In a lot of pain? How beautiful is Theo? I am so impressed you are feeding him yourself

Lilyloo ? how are you feeling?

Lolo ? yeah! You are on mat leave I have 4 more days including today (though about 10 days worth of work to do so why am I on here instead of doing my work????) you mat hospital sounds fab ? fingers crossed you get the birth you want!!

Awen ? My DH isn?t on for any nookie either thanks for the link to the I am pregnant website ? it was interesting! Really sounds like it won?t be long for you with all the energy, nesting and painful contractions! I finally gave in and washed the dining room curtains yesterday ? feel better now I was woken in the night by painful tightenings but nothing major.

Luckystar ? hello!

Hey Mixedmama we are missing your regular posts take care hon x

Nicky6 ? oh no! how are you going to manage that trial hon?? What if you have the baby before then? Happy birthday for tomorrow!! please take care x

MrsB ? are you still in your PJs?! just cos you can!

Amani ? hello!

Toomanyshoes ? glad the sweep went as well as it could ? exciting times! hope it gets things started hon!

KT ? all info on the babies is useful on the list I think LOL at the jeans dilemma, I am getting so fed up with things falling down (especially now that Beanie has shifted down) braces sound like a plan to me!

Naetha ? glad you are enjoying your purchases I haven?t had time to read how to work the buggy either. That Hypercal sounds interesting, where can you get that from? I?ve heard that grazes can hurt more than stitches (aooooooooow!) useful having a homeopath as a Dad LOL I am banned from watching Special Deliveries by DH, he hates it, thinks it is so dramatized and like you say, they are ALL on their backs and given everything available ? I?ve seen them give ladies amnios at 39 weeks and in labour to check lung viability ? FGS!!! Talk about using medical equipment because you have it! How exciting about all that activity!!

Madmouse ? sounds like you had a lovely few days away hon I think I read that the baby?s hiccups aren?t as irritating as the ones we get. Mine gets them a lot now too and as the head is so low, I almost worry about an echo

Letsgo ? glad Susie directed you to that eBay shop, I think they are prefect (DH thinks they look like duvet covers! ) half my NCT class now have them too!!

gingemebells · 17/12/2007 12:35

Afternoon ladies. Still feel rough and throats still sore. Sucking on cherry tunes at the mo. Not sure if theyre helping but they are yummy.
Just wondered if anyone has heard from Barristermum at all? Those of you on facebook maybe?
