Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Me again. Neatha your waters dont always break first and then labour automaticaly starts. Also if your waters do break first you dont always get contractions straight away although they wont let you go for more than24 hours because of infection.
Yes you will know when labour starts. It feels alot more painful than Braxton Hicks and will get stronger and more painful with time where as Braxton Hicks usualy dont hurt at all or at least not very much.
Hope that helps.

madmouse · 29/12/2007 12:49

Awen, yay, I was worried that you had to have a c-section after all. So chuffed you had your VBAC, and Samuel is sooo gorgeous, just showed him off to DH and he agrees (he looked a bit strange when I started cheering just now when i read your news .

for those not sleeping well. I had a new pillow to put under my own and slept so much better. Just back from shopping. Took the bus out as I had lots of clothes to take to the charity shop. Ended up grinning to myself as lo spent the whole journey booting my empty rucksack which was leaning against my bump. I know 36 weeks is a bit early, but i think he is ready to come out!! managed to walk a mile back with the shopping. it was abit heavy, but the sunw as so nice, could not face the bus. Need a break now.

Ange, try not to get too hung up about getting the right present for your anniversary, he may not have managed. Have a good cuddle together.

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 29/12/2007 14:09

Morning all! I'm with all you crampy girls out there.

I was conviced it was the kick off last night. I had a lot of mega period-type pain but I now think that what I had was the SPD returning with a vengeance plus the period-type pain that some of us have been geting. It never really came and went like the contractions I had before.

Like you Gingeme - I had a little cry this morning when finally accepted babe was not about to put in an appearance and had just been in pain all night for nothing! At least we ar not alone!

Sympathy Naetha. Fingers crossed that that was your last frustrating Friday. Everyone seems to say - with Gingeme - that when it's the real thing there'll be no fooling you. Last night I was doing the 'is it or isn't it' thing. grrr.

at your shopping trip Madmouse! I think 36 weeks is a bit of a turning point myself. I amnow officially 38+2 and trying to tell myself the baby isn't even due yet!

PussyCat - it must be great to feel that your much-wanted LO is nearly here. Very happy for you . I was told by one doctor that I needed to go on Clomid. I had a week of feeling very wobbly until my real doctor told me I was in fact pregnant so I can appreciate a little bit of what you felt.

I'm off to wait for the time I can take my next dose of paracetamol and have another look at my newly-built cot. Where ARE you LO!

merrykt · 29/12/2007 14:33

Congratulations to Awen, hooray for VBAC , Bettymama - details? & TooManyShoes - love Charlie !!!

come on out babies, we want some more!
(ok not mine just yet tho!)

Gave dh 2 scares this week, first told him one morning that i thought my waters were going as i was very wet - turns out i was just wet , that got him kick started into sorting the house out tho - handy tip for any lazing around dhs/dps !

and then spilt my water glass on the bed, didn't wake him up, left a towel there to sort of try and dry it out and went downstairs. he came rushing down about half an hour later in a panic!! ha ha, keep him on his toes...

i have promised that i will def wake him up if it's more than a spilt glass next time!

(((hugs))) to all those with is-it-isn't-it nights/days/feelings. i guess the simple answer is you know when it's happening because it progresses and baby arrives, but that's not much help in the early 'maybe' stages!!

erm, feel like i can't poss catch up properly, mrsmc where are you .
ange - thinking of you and your dh hun, my dh said have you thought of going to relate (on your own and/or together) as they can help with stuff like this.
also, telling him he doesn't have to be at birth might take a weight off? (sorry haven't kept up with other thread so this may all have been said) if he's really unhappy about being there he will just be a negative influence that won't help and you don't need at that time.

so, hello everyone else, hope we all got through christmas without too many major upsets, all good here, ds even slept until 6.30 christmas morning, only to go back to 5.30 since, but hey!

dh on a major mission to sort house - vacuuming as i type, with ds chasing him cos he loves the vacuum! - will put cot and crib together later, stuff for charity shop/freecycle sorted out, baby car seat in, etc.
m/w tomorrow at home which will be nice, then i hit the magic 37wks on tues, just get to tues....

so best show willing and get off bum and do something - even if it's just cheerleading from the side
(anyone else really struggling to catch their breath? feel like i need an oxygen mask!)

sabinar · 29/12/2007 14:56

eh, is it afternoon already?
have had a stinker of a headache since 3am, just to make a change from everyone being kept awake by cramps etc. Don't seem to be able to find any paracetamol, so DH has been 'treating' me with aromatherapy, which has actually really taken the edge off. Going to brave the great outdoors shortly and get to Boots to get some more Gaviscon (can't go a night without it!) and some paracetamol - hopefully a bit of fresh air will sort me out.

awen - congratulations! so thrilled to hear that Samuel has finally made his long awaited appearance.

hope to see more new babe announcements v soon!

gingemebells · 29/12/2007 15:22

Oh merrykt I am laughing at your naughty antics as far as dh is concerned and your water .
We have just put up our Ikea changing table with the help of our two little budding builders. Makes our bathroom look tiny though.
Oh susie chin up. Im 38 weeks tommorrow and so ready for this baby to come now. I just said to dh I reckon hell come New Years Eve which I wouldnt mind as dh not working New Years Day.38 weeks is considered as term you know.
No more pains or anything lately.
Sabiner I hope your headache shifts soon. Watch your blood pressure too.
I have fat feet now Had them last night too but put them up and it went down slightly.

Susiemj · 29/12/2007 15:39

Thanks Gingeme - The morning's paracetamol has kicked in and I'm doing soem 'tidying' quite happily. In fact, I'm just folding baby clothes and putting them into different piles. Any excuse!

Sabinar - Thisis a bit of a long shot but headache sounds nasty. Have you tried the accupuncture thing where you press the fleshy part between thumb and first finger as HARD as you can for a while / few times. I have found this to take the edge off sometimes. Hope it goes soon.

KT - you're wicked

Goodbye Christmas names .... . Possibly time for a new one forme I think... Maybe when baby comes..

AngeChica · 29/12/2007 15:40

Just looking back a few pages to the List - we have Mixedmama whose due date is tomorrow and then next in the delivery suite for the "regulars" is Fragolina (Lulubump) on 4 Jan. MM I know you are around on the Dec thread more than this one ATM but wonder if anything's happening yet...? Also presume MrsMc is having a busy time with family over these hols as we haven't had an update for a while.

I have a lovely necklace off DH (he would have bought this months in advance - he is a man with a plan always!) and will line my stomach with Gaviscon before going for a curry tonight.

Re signs of labour - the thing people mention a lot is period-type pains - I never get them so have no idea what to expect - in for a shock most likely. I barely seem to notice the BH either.

Susiemj · 29/12/2007 15:42

Isn't Lucky due on the 3rd? (Bumbles off to check....)

Hooray for DH and the necklace Angechica!

OP posts:
AngeChica · 29/12/2007 15:43

PS not forgetting Beller still waiting of course xx

Susiemj · 29/12/2007 15:46

Lucky's the second - she's just on the wrong place on the list.

Anyone up for a new thread?

hmm new name to think of ....
new thread title ....
sounds like a busy afternoon - off to fold babygrows and have a ponder....

scorpio1 · 29/12/2007 17:06

Wow Awen!! i can only guess how happy you are, after all the trouble it took even confirming his presence in the first place! . congrats also on vbac .

gingemebells · 29/12/2007 17:29

You lucky lady Angechica
Well we have now got the changing station up. The moses basket up. My labour bag packed and re packed and I have put two of ds3's Pampers bed mats on my bed instead of the bin bag and changed the sheets. The idea of changing the sheets is abit like when my Mum used to smoke and every time we were waiting for a bus and shed light one up the bus would always come. Know what I mean?
Been getting quite a few tightenings this afternoon and my discharge is somewhat thicker too.
Dont want to get my hopes up though still got two weeks left.
Dh making fish and chips for dinner. Yummy.
See ya later ladies. xxxx

madmouse · 29/12/2007 17:41

How about 'Eeek we have started popping now!'

or maybe more like

'We want our babies and we want them now!

My B-H contractions are out of this world today. DH says me stomach feels like one of those lead balls that they used to put on the feet of prisoners. My body is clearly very efficiently preparing for D-day, but I am not sure I like four weeks of this! .

barristermum · 29/12/2007 17:44

hiya - we all seem to be nesting big time - dh and I have been doing more in the nursery - putting up blackout blinds, putting a kettle in for me for the middle of the night when I'm breastfeeding hopefully and i can't be bothered to walk to the ground floor kitchen in our town house for a cuppa! I nearly choked up sorting out some little handknitted cardies.

AWEN! WOW! BEAUTIFUL SAMUEL! CONGRATULATIONS!

Who's next?!

pussycatmomma · 29/12/2007 17:46

What abot something like "pop the champagne, us ladies are popping our babies!"
Madmouse i think we must be due around same date. im 24th jan. We are similar age and it is both our first baby (not that ive been looking at your profile or anything!

madmouse · 29/12/2007 17:51

Pussycatmoma, I have read yours too - natch . I am due on the 30th. Somehow i expected you to have lots of cats? There is quite a few of us at the end of the month so we can keep each other company a while longer .

madmouse · 29/12/2007 17:51

Could turn in to a cat and mouse game , feeling silly, sorry!

pussycatmomma · 29/12/2007 18:02

dont worry, i'll put it down to your hormones!
Yes we have 3 cats and a dog as well now.
I wont suggest that you have mice though!

Fragolina · 29/12/2007 18:22

Awen - congratulations little Samuel is gorgeous!! Ange - glad you liked your anniversary present, and keep posting, sometimes just writing out your stress/upsets makes them better. Glad things with your DH seem to be improving.

No news from me re: labour vibes. Am ready for this baby, but will just have to adapt to his/her schedule! Have had some mild backache and period type pains, but nothing more. Am 39+1 today!

Saw my belly in the mirror the other day, and despite religiously applying bio-oil every night, I have the most horrifying stretchmarks everywhere! Anyone have any magical tonics for disappearing them post-baby?

ayrshirelolo · 29/12/2007 19:36

Hiya girls!
Just wanted to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to Awen and her family, wee Samuel is utterly GORGEOUS!!
Glad you got your VBAC, Awen, let us know how you're doing as soon as you feel up to it!
Hi to everyone else, just to echo Gingeme, you'll know when you're in labour! Last time i went through loads of the "is this it?" stuff for days, then when real labour pains kicked in i was crawling about the bedroom floor wondering how the hell i was going to get downstairs to the car!! My waters had broken though, so i had a good idea!!
Ange, glad you liked your pressie! Hope things get a wee bit better for you both soon.
Hello to everyone else, Susie, KT, Frag, MMouse, PCM, Barrister, Sab, Naetha... and everyone else... my brain is officially trifle too, must be baby's turn for it today!!!
hope we all sleep well tonight... HA! FAT CHANCE!!!! ....but i can hope anyway... lolo xx

WeAllWantSomeFluffyPudding · 29/12/2007 19:51

Awen - congrats, he's properly beautiful!!!! So delighted for you both now that the waiting is finally over....

Barristermum - 2 things: 1) Do you want to share a Boots online order, as I haven't found the maternity mats in Brent X or the Boots in Whetstone? and 2) I've lost your phone number...sorry!! I changed my work phone as the old one died and have subsequently lost all contact details for Gingeme, Ayrshirelolo, Barristermum and MrsMc Sorry ladies!!! If you still have mine can you text me please? Better sign your names to the texts!!

My 'farmers' have come back with a vengeance in the last few days, total agony, and that's without even getting as far as pushing during the birth itself. Never even knew about the joy of piles until after the birth of DS....but apparently all the extra 'bump' weight can trigger them off Oh well, at least I'm seeing my GP regularly at the moment, so I guess I'll be asking her for a prescription

OK, off to get some food and loll about on the sofa...so pressure off piles but on sciatic nerve instead ...

Love to all xxx

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 29/12/2007 20:12

Right, want baby out now!

Went to bed last night and had what felt like something (period cramps that came and went) so I got my ball out to try and make it keep coming and it did (every couple of minutes) for about 15 minutes then died down and stopped so I got back into bed, Half hour later it was back so up I got ball again only to have it die down. This happened till 3am!! I called labour ward to see what they said and they said it must be BH so I resigned to nothing happening.

I've had the stabbing pains again today (OW!!) and leaky boobs, not to mention hiccups from little un really low.

Been at parents for the day (DP in bed) and mum has made a bet saying i'll be calling her at 2am to say it's started! lol

Awen - Congratulations Hunny!!! xxx Samuel is gorgeous. (Even DP says that and he seems to think most 'ickle babies are wierd looking, lol)

I'm sitting here managing to eat most of a tin of quality street such a fatty! lol

Can we have a list again of when everyone is due? Officially i'm due on the 3rd but a scan I had at 13 weeks (bit of bleeding) said 2nd so never know.
