Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gingemebells · 12/12/2007 20:48

Oh my goodness fruitful. Congratulations to you and your family XXX for little Theo too. Wow!

Naetha · 12/12/2007 21:04

With the Welsh names thing I've managed to get mine is as a middle name, so LO will be Benjamin Llewellyn (and if a girl, Alexa Rhiannon). DH is happy with that, and to be fair it'd be a bit cruel to give your LO a very welsh name when he's going to go to school in Bradford

Love Ffion though

Good site with Welsh names on it here

Naetha · 12/12/2007 21:09

Wow congratulations to you, your family and little Theo - love the name!

Sounds like you had a horrendous time of it, but glad that you've both come through the other side

Will be thinking of you both over the next few days

ayrshirelolo · 12/12/2007 21:17

Hi folks!
Just popped in to see how everyone was doing (planned to post properly tomorrow after i officially finish work) but just had to say hi to Fruitful..... CONGRATULATIONS honey! beautiful name, hope you've now had a chance to see him and have a cuddle, and hope that you are ok, sounds like a pretty hairy time. Tell us all about it when/ if you feel like it, but in the meantime take it easy and enjoy whatever rest you can get. Wishing you all the love, luck and good wishes in the world......... lolo xx

Awenamanger · 12/12/2007 21:30

Just popped on as well to see how everyone is doing.

Fruitful - Huge congratulations for the safe arrival of little Theodore - what a lovely name. Sounds like it was a dramatic entrance into the world. Sending you heaps of hugs and good wishes. Glad that you and baby are safe. Hope you get to see him soon, I am sure he is beautiful xxx Mr Awen sends hugs too.

Still pregnant here, am getting pains again this evening but not taking much notice as been on and off now for 2 weeks tomorrow. Midwife said baby still 3/5 engaged and he seems happy in position. Blood pressure is better now, not so low, 62.

Need to read through thread alot better as brain gone to pot atm.

xx

sabinar · 12/12/2007 22:07

wow, congratulations Fruitful! I hope you get to give little Theo a cuddle very soon and that you're doing well.

we had our midwife around this evening - all is well and LO is in the correct position and v gradually making his way down into the pelvis. No sign of him making an early appearance which is exactly what I wanted to hear!

it's all definitely getting so close now, I can hardly believe it!

toomanyshoes · 13/12/2007 00:01

Congratulations Fruitful So pleased Theo is here safely and you are ok. When will you be able to go to scbu? Am thinking of you, must be v hard at the mo but sure that first cuddle will be worth the wait!

Hey PBirdy and Mum2sam, was wondering where you'd got to! There were so many of us at the beginning of this thread, I wonder if a few more people will re-appear once everyone is on maternity leave?

Welcome Spackcat!

Lulu, I PMSL at your shoe story Good on you for styling it out and not mentioning it. They will all be at home wondering whether you are a loon or one of the most fashion forward women they have ever met! To make it more convincing I think you should keep wearing mis-matched shoes, they'll all be doing it in six months time

Lilyloo, how annoying about your appointment. Am amazed by how negative all these health care professionals seem to be about home births. Almost like they are looking for reasons to talk you out of it. Glad Ds's concert was lovely, I have DD's on Monday, can't wait!

MrsMc - love the idea of G&T, Hello mag and nipple twiddling will give it a whirl if Fridays sweep is unsuccessful! (mostly just coz it's a good excuse for a G&T though!!)

Lucky & Amani - sorry you're both feeling crappy and fed up. Not long now and you'll be cuddling those babies

Fluffy - hope you have given DH a bloody big shopping list for his New York trip?! It's the least he can do if he gets back on your birthday!

Naetha - had my midwife appointment today too and she also reckons on mine being a whopper! Growth scan estimated 7lbs 1oz last week but she says she thinks he's bigger. As long as he's under 10lbs I think i'll cope! Head still not engaged for me though so bit worrying on the induction front for next week. Got a feeling it's going to be a long, drawn out process! Good luck with all the labour inducing activity this weekend

Beller - is that tree up now? Hope so. Will be so lovely to have your baby at home with twinkly fairy lights in the background rather than the peeling paintwork and strip lights of my local NHS labour suite! Think the midwife unit at my hospital is much nicer and more relaxing (birth balls, pools and lamps) but not allowed to go there coz of the diabetes Any more lunches booked for this week? Hope so, got to make the most of maternity leave!

Can't remember who asked about food but i have eaten everything this time (brie, peanuts etc) in moderation. Was really careful last time but did loads of reading this time and decided the risks were tiny. Been eating much more healthily as a result of the GD though and only gained a stone this time (as opposed to the 4 i gained last time!!!) Lost a stone and a half in delivery with DD so am hoping the same will happen this time and I might weigh less after labour than I did at beginning of pregnancy - I live in hope!!

Hi to everybody else, hope you all have a good nights sleep with minimal toilet trips

MrsBiscuit · 13/12/2007 08:39

Congratulations Fruitful . Hope you get to see Theo soon.

jinglebeller · 13/12/2007 08:49

morning all!!

Lulubump - your shoe story made me laugh!!!

Mrsmcjnr - sounds like beanie has dropped?!?! How exciting!! Yoga teacher story sounds a great way to start things off!!

mum2sons - Havnt tried a support band...keep thinking its going to happen soon..but back was killing me when i went up the high st yest!

Hi Spackcat!!

Hi Pbirdy - I have been engaged for 2 weeks now...keep hoping babybel will come early, but nada yet!! xx

Fluffy - My midwife said another good thing for any soreness down there, was to put witchhazel on a sanitary towel and put it in a bag in the fridge! Supposed to be very soothing...xx

Naetha - I have been having clary sage baths for a week now..jopefully when babybel is ready it will kick start things! x

minspugs - Awen is still around, things keep stopping and starting!

Lillyloo - If it is a UTI, I think they will give you anti biotics? xx

Fruitful - Congratulations!!!!! So pleased you are both well and safe, hope you get to have some lovely cuddles soon, speedy recovery!!! xxx

Awen - Glad youre ok, hope they start in earnest soon!! xx

Toomanyshoes - Tree is up!! Going to wrap the pressies today and put them under it. Im keeping up the lunches with gusto!! Today with dad, tomorrow with a friend who is also a client, and saturday I have a big dinner /dance!! haha Think I will take it easy next week......

My hips and back are REALLY achy now....wlaking around yesturday was quite painful! HAve been having clary sage bathes, bouncing on birthing ball, taking my raspberry leaf tablets...walking...nada...(i know i have 2 weeks left!!... hahaha) Just impatient to meet babybel now!! Had a dream last night that babybel was a boy..but my gut feeling at mom is saying girl! Hopefully will find out soon!

Hope everyone is well....waves at all xxxxxxxx

MrsMcJnr · 13/12/2007 09:38

Oh Fruitful many, many congratulations, I am so delighted to hear that he is here and you are both ok, I actually have goose bumps, sending you a huge gentle hug and sending a guardian angel to watch over Theodore xxx

MrsMcJnr · 13/12/2007 10:01

Luckystar ? 2 hours of nipple twiddling, god! Don?t think I could be bothered!! LOL at your careful dressing sounds like your DP and my DH have changed and grown into the roles over the last few weeks sorry to hear that you feel really rubbish! My Beanie does hate my desk here at work, often kicks it in the course of the day.

Amani ? bring it on girl

Ok let?s have a recap, let?s list all the things that are meant to bring on labour, I?ll start:

Car journeys on cobbled streets
Curry
Castor oil
Nipple stimulation
Raspberry leaf tea
Sex
Vigorous housework
Vigorous walking

Isawsusie ? yay for eBay sounds like you are really sorted! Sounds like your Bean is really active still mine has never been that energetic but the last few days I have worried that it is less so, I know it has less room and I am still feeling movement just not loads, I think part of it is fear induced by a friend?s bad news this week rather than any real difference in Beanie.

Lilyloo ? poor you about the urine sample! It doesn?t sound like they made things easy for you yesterday

Gingeme ? I?m with you on the low and heavy, people keep saying how low I am carrying which is kind of annoying as it has only been like that for a week or so! Monday evening?s excitements must have got you thinking!!

Awen ? take good care of you!

Toomanyshoes ? wow only a stone of weight gain! I am impressed, I?ve nearly hit two now.

Jinglebeller ? I think Beanie has dropped down a bit more sounds like you are a busy lady bringing Babybel on

Amani · 13/12/2007 10:11

Morning ladies,

Congratulations fruitful! . Make sure you have plenty of rest (when you can) and hope you have a good recovery.

Adding to the list:

Pineapple
Clarey Sage Oil
Car journeys on cobbled streets
Curry
Castor oil
Nipple stimulation
Raspberry leaf tea
Sex
Vigorous housework
Vigorous walking

Awenamanger · 13/12/2007 10:52

Can anyone find a list of all our due dates so we can update with Theodores arrival? I cant seem to locate it.

Been trying out the list:

Adding to the list:

Pineapple - apparantly you have to eat 7! Managed one.
Clarey Sage Oil - not yet tried
Car journeys on cobbled streets - lol.. not in Southampton, though could find some speed bumps.
Curry - Tried
Castor oil - Ewww
Nipple stimulation - LOL tried a little but 2 hours would give an RSI
Raspberry leaf tea - Yup - daily
Sex - PMSL dp horrified
Vigorous housework - errmm - have tried but so tired.
Vigorous walking - Xmas shopping

MrsMc - I have nearly hit 2 stone as well. Much better tho than with Ds1 when i gained 4st! Def sounds like baby has dropped.

Lulubump - PMSL at your shoe story. THat was soo funny. Sorry

Jinglebeller - I think these LO's are just way tooo comfy at the moment. We got our tree up too. It feels all lovely and christmassytnow. Managed to wrap nearly all pressies, not putting under tree tho as DS1 just wouldnt be able to contain himself. lol . HOw exciting still not knowing if a boy or girl.

PBirdy & Mumtosam - Lovely to see you guys back again and that you are all ok.

With the Welsh name thing here, LO's middle name is Owen, although not the traditional Welsh spelling of Owain, he also has the welsh surname.

Gingeme - Sorry to hear about your PC going bang. How exciting to have reg contractions but frustrating when they die down. So if this LO follows his siblings example he could be here next week . I had ds1 exactly on 38 weeks.. so for this one it would be Monday. I bet tho that my LO is late tho just to be different

Fruitful - just to say am still thinking of you. I really hope you are bearing up ok physicallyh as it sounds like you had a rough time. Hope you get to meet little Theodore today xxxx (((hugs)))

Lilyloo - and at your crappy midwife. Some people are just so insensitive and i wonder why they work in the profession that they do. Glad your ds did well in his concert I saw my ds in his carol concert yesterday too. Felt all proud.

Isawsusie of course Awen Well done on Ebay - still never used it.

Lucky - lol at your dp saying he would give it a go. also lol at your rugby shirt inside out and back to front Preg brain eh. Re the perineal massage - I think it is just about impossible to reach anyway. lol

Sabinar - very sensible to make the most of baby free days imo. I would like LO to arrive here purely so I can make plans elsewhere as everything seems so unsure, we want to go to theatre but local one wont admit under 2's so cant book incase LO arrives, am looking at other theatre. Also ds is now getting desperate to meet his brother

minspugs - Hi hun - no baby yet. I will pop into march thread and say hi xx

Naetha - lovely cot lol @ your dp sex drive. Mine is petrified of the thought of it! lol. Fab baby all engaged and everything.

to everyone else xx

WeAllWantSomeFluffyPudding · 13/12/2007 11:00

Hi all

Heading off to hospital for my 34 week growth scan in a moment, and really quite excited to be seeing the LO again, as I wasn't expecting any more 'views' after 20 weeks This scan is more of a sanity check, as I'm planning a hospital birth (on the Natural Birthing Centre side, if poss), so that if its another big 'un I don't end up going to 42+something before being induced again !

Fruitful - it was wonderful to read about Theo's safe arrival, even if it all sounds quite dramatic. Well done both of you, and I hope you get to have wonderful cuddles together soon . Sending really big (very gentle!) hugs to both of you, and the rest of the family...

Will try to catch up with everyone else's posts when I get back this afternoon....DH has his xmas dinner tonight so I might get some uninterrupted computer time outside of working hours

xxx

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 13/12/2007 11:01

Hey Ladies -

MrsMc - I think my bean IS moving less but she is very obliging and usually moves if I give a hard stroke to whatever bit of her is most prominent at the time. She usually takes 30 seconds or so to wake up I think. She usually gives me a kick too if I bend over - maybe this is why your bean kicks you at work? It'll probably be a very chilled, placid baby!

Nipple twisters! I don't know if any of you who have been on a NCT course knows more about this but I have just read in my pregnancy book that you should only do one nipple at a time. It says thta doing both can cause 'foetal distress'!! Which has caused me a bit of distress due to bedroom activities . Anyone know?

P.S. I've seen people posting on here saying not to use castor oil as it gives you a very bad tummy rather than anything else.

Right - big box from boots full of gadgets has arrived - I'm going to dive in!

gingemebells · 13/12/2007 11:55

Morning ladies. I am having a hungry day today. Good job we went shopping yesterday. We are going to put our tree up Saturday.
Dh reminded me I have a month till my due date. Getting real close now
Dh laying the floor in our bedroom as I type then its all done.
Baby cant come yet my big boys are coming next Sunday for Christmas. Any time after will be fine.
Hope all you ladies are doing well today

PBirdy · 13/12/2007 12:10

Congratulations Fruitful - so pleased to hear the news of Theo's safe arrival. You sound completely worn out so I hope you are managing to get some rest and I am sure you will have your little one in your arms before long.

X

merrykatyt1 · 13/12/2007 13:01

hello all

Our First Arrival Hooray

Congratulations to Fruitful & family
Echo what everyone else has said, hope you are emotionally & physically recovered asap and Theodore is in your arms having cuddles as we speak. Hopefully you'll get some rest in hosp (?) and both come home soon.

xxxx

BWMum · 13/12/2007 13:06

Hello everyone,

I haven't posted on here in absolutely ages, but wanted to wish everyone well and hope all bumps arrive safely and happily over the next 6 weeks or so. I have popped on from time and time, although I haven't posted much, and it has been really good to see people thinking the same things I have.... so thanks for the support - even if I was lurking rather than contributing.

Congrats to Fruitful on the birth of Theodore - and hope there are many more soon!

Keep well everyone!

merrykatyt1 · 13/12/2007 13:12

right, was planning to sit down with a notebook & pen and write notes for a mrsmc-style catch up but am comfy on the sofa and don't want to spoil that!

fluffy - good luck at scan, would love another peek at LO.

gingeme - having lots of hungry days atm! put on just under 4 stone last time, think i've got up to 2.5 so far, so plenty more chocolate & ice-cream to go
ah well, it's a time in life when we can eat & put on weight, then try our best to lose it later....hmm

susie - gadgets? tell all? i love gadgets, esp new ones! don't know about the 2 nipples at a time thing, can't be true surely????

re list - NOT that i want LO yet, only 34 wks here - :

Pineapple -no desire for any yet, did have some last time.
Clarey Sage Oil - not yet tried
Car journeys on cobbled streets - lol.. not in Southend, though could find some speed bumps along the seafront!
Curry - Tried, eat all the time tho so prob needs to be a violently HOT one!
Castor oil - Ewww, yuk yuk yuk
Nipple stimulation - 2 hours?????
Raspberry leaf tea - have tablets, will start soon.
Sex - tbh think this worked last time, waters broke about 6 hours later
Vigorous housework - errmm - not my thing?!
Vigorous walking - well hips not up to much.

ds had his testicles descended in hosp yest, looks sooooo sore all down there, feel really bad for him, tho less bad when he won't sleep even with the big calpol doses he's allowed, grrr.

right, best try and get him settled, again, hmph!

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 13/12/2007 14:20

Hello all!

Gingeme - all your house changes sound fab. It sounds like it's going to look all new. I had the 'month to go' thing on the 11th!

Katy - interesting remarks on making the baby come! Gadgets! Well, baby stuff - breast pump, sterilser, TENS, sling - they've got some good deals on Boots.com at the moment! I'm thinking I should plug them all in just to see if they work (not sling obviously) but don't want to get caught with a breast pump out if single, childless male guest comes home. My Spanish is not THAT good!

Anyone's BHs become decidedly painful? I'm getting a few real cruchers every day now. Is this normal?

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 13/12/2007 14:21

That was meant to say 'crunchers' - though I'm not sure that makes sense either!

MrsMcJnr · 13/12/2007 14:58

LOL Susie, don't think I'd be good at expalining that in Spanish either

Amani · 13/12/2007 16:23

Susiemj - yes had painful BH contraction a couple nights, think I posted about it.

fluffy - good luck with the scan - let us know how it goes

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 13/12/2007 17:03

Mmm. I remember Amani - Are they still happening? I think both of us go into BH overdrive when we walk too? Just goping to check our due dates....

.....
