Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsMcJnr · 12/12/2007 13:10

Hey ladies just had a ?pre hand over? meeting with my bosses. I ended up agreeing to finish everything on my list if I can (what a mug!) but I refused to take on anything new and they seemed happy (because I kept all the actions) hey ho!

Had a really odd evening last night, got home around 8pm after a couple of hours walking around the Christmas Market in Edinburgh with friends and felt knackered and really nauseous, Beanie had been quite quiet all day (though I?d been rushing around like a mad thing) and I was a bit worried so I had a lovely warm lavender bath and sure enough Beanie kicked and I felt better only then to get cramps and feel more nauseous. I just went to bed thinking I was probably overtired and I feel fine today though have just had a very odd sensation which felt a bit like the head going further into my pelvis ? who knows hey!

Sabinar ? its meant to be a good sign of positioning if you waddle back to back babies don?t make you waddle but optimum positioned ones do! Take it as a good sign. I keep wanting to start the massage it means going down to the kitchen and bringing the olive oil back to my bedroom and then positioning myself properly to even begin and somehow, it seems a bit pervy which is crazy, I will do it!!! A cd would be good as I was wondering how I was going to juggle the book, the oil and the ?equipment?.

Jinglebeller ? a bit of DIY might bring the baby on?! You need to prop you bum/legs on cushions to reach to do the massage lying down I think, or else squat? It is a hard balance between relaxing and being active isn?t it? God knows what?s best!

Angel ? LOL at your baby being soothed by flatulence It?s just as well we don?t remember life in the womb isn?t it? I?m not getting a high chair until at least 6 months I don?t think, that?s when I hope to start introducing solids (and will need food protection surfaces!) that NCT sale sounded good. I have borrowed a few snow suits from my sister. She said they were a waste of money for her kids but neither of them were born in the middle of a Scottish winter a friend told me yesterday that I needed to buy socks for Beanie to wear under his/her babygro as their feet get really cold ? damn it, another thing for the list ? I?d assumed that because the suits had feet I didn?t need socks

Madchristmasmouse totally agree, comfort (or as close as you can get!) in labour is a must! Sex life?! Is that something you need to ?do? or were you concerned that the baby clutter around the bed was spoiling it? I?d say I don?t have a sex life right now I don?t remember if I said yesterday but we were advised at the Active Birth workshop to have sex daily from 36 weeks and all the Dads 2 B looked so appalled by the prospect! my Beanie likes Daddy?s voice better too, I tell myself that it?s because he has been able to get much closer to Beanie than I have to date!

Luckystar ? sorry to hear about your disappointment but glad all is fine I get pains in my ear from lying on my left side too long another tip from the Active Birth workshop, put blue tac in the overflow of your bath so you can fill it high and get it over your bump! I was lying on my left in the bath last night to give Beanie the hydro-benefit Sounds like nesting to me!! (do you think that is why I have a burning desire to wash the dining room curtains?!)

Hello Mum2Sam lovely to hear from you again how are you??

AWW thanks Popsy hon rubbing my bump on you and hoping it?s catching! xx

Spackcat ? welcome! bananas and milk are meant to help with the leg cramps.

Hey Susie

PBirdy so great to have you back, I was wondering what happened to you! How have you been? Are you on mat leave yet? I have a week and two days and am counting!! Congratulations on the engagement my baby?s head was 3/5ths engaged last week so hopefully that is a good sign. That?s lovely that you are having a pink one I am still holding out for a surprise, my last scan is next Thurs so hopefully I?ll still be able to hold out!

MrsMcJnr · 12/12/2007 14:18

Fluffy ? sorry about your bad nights sounds like my nights if you replace all references to your DS with references to my two furry babies who like to sleep on my feet and I try to get in and out of the bed without disturbing them as they look so cute cuddled together in a ball. Sorry to hear DH will be away for a few days but glad he?ll be back for your birthday ? I knew I liked you you are only 10 days older than me are you a Capricorn or a Sagittarius then? We have DMIL?s surprise 60th birthday party at our house on Sat, we have 40 of her friends coming (who are pretty wild) my SIL has organised a stripper ? oh my!

Lulubump ? PMSL that is a superb story, I love it! I can?t believe no one said anything at all!!

spackcat · 12/12/2007 14:51

hey ladies, thanks for all the lovely welcomes! Thanks mrsmcjnr, do have a banana most days but will try to increase on the milk front - I crave it every now and then anyway, strangly enough! Will be back anon - have to pick ds from school and have been on laptop all day!x

spackcat · 12/12/2007 14:53

Oh and I also need a minute to cram in a mini twix bar into my gob!!

Naetha · 12/12/2007 15:25

mmmmmm twix!!

Had another MW appointment today - baby still huge and now nearly fully engaged . Me and DH have decided that on Friday and Saturday we're going to do everything in our power to get stuff going! Have got the clary sage essential oils, planning a couple of long(ish) walks and a hot hot curry on the Friday night! Having said that I think it's just an excuse for DH to have lots of sex - bless him he has rather a high sex drive, and finds me being pregnant a real turn-on! Having said that, I think he would find anything a turn-on at the moment, we haven't exactly been "active" of late! I find it very uncomfortable with a whopping great big bump in the way!

Had a very productive morning today, done half the Christmas shopping (the rest is Oxfam unwrapped stuff I will get this afternoon), got myself some storage for the baby's room from Argos - reduced as well!, as well as a gym ball, then I went to the Mamas and Papas factory shop and got myself an Eloise cot bed reduced from £160 to £110. I think there needs to be a [smug] emoticon!

Am currently pmsl at our youngest cat (she's 18 months old but very much still a kitten!) who is currently running around the room bouncing off the walls chasing her own tail. She just caught sight of herself in a mirror, and shot about 10 feet sideways while simultaneously blowing up to about three times her normal size! Bless her, she's going to be in for a shock soon!

Anyway, must dash, need to order the carpet before I go and pick DH up from work! Hope everyone is feeling (relatively) good, despite lack of sleep

minspugs · 12/12/2007 16:02

hiya, im from due in march but thought id pop on to see if anyone had heard how awen was getting on

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 12/12/2007 16:32

Hi all,

Feeling rough today - My stomach feels like its got butterflies (not the baby) and my head feels like its been hit with a sledgehammer!! I don't know if I'm coming or going.

Mrs Mc - Thanx for the tip about the blu tac will try that next time I have a bath. I think the urge to clean curtains is nesting as well. I was alright until you said that, then looked at my curtains and realised that where the cats push thier heads through to see outside is black from their hair!! now i'm going to have to clean them!!

Doing the nursery this week, we were meant to be going shopping to get the paint etc today but not feeling upto it this morning and now DP is in bed and not getting up so will have to go in morning.

Lulubump - maybe they didn't say anything cos you're setting the trend for the future or they know you're pregnant and didn't want to upset the "hormones" lol

Speaking of hormones - I've got a fresh batch of them lately. The female cat has been peeing on stuff for about a year and she did it the other night, I just broke down crying!! lol. Dunno what was up with me.

Erm - Perineal massage - Sorry can't bring myself to do it at all.
High chairs - Not bothering for a while - we've already got a spare room full of junk. Don't want to add more to it.

Amani · 12/12/2007 16:50

Afternoon ladies,

Hope you all are well.

My, my you have been busy today.

Naetha - lol at your plans - that is exactly what DH and I had planned for this weekend too! Really want to get thngs moving too, as I am feeling so fed up. By the way someone on the Dec thread had a clarey sage bath and an hour later her contractions started and the next day gave birth!

Last night had mega strong B-H contractions again, called the hospital who said the usual 'Have a long warm bath and two paracetamols and see how you are after that'. Was in so much pain had tears in my eyes. Anyhow it all calmed down at midnight, then DD daughter decided to wake up every 2 hrs - so officially back in the rubbish night sleep club.

Hello newbiews

LOL at lulubump! You mad woman- what shoes are you wearing now?

Fluffypudding - good that you are catching up on sleep - you must have been knocked out to sleep through road works!

Luckysalem - hope you feel better soon hun.

sabinar · 12/12/2007 16:57

eh. I am so the opposite of everyone wanting to get things started. I've spent the better part of this afternoon having mini-freak-outs wondering what on earth I was thinking when I agreed to have a baby and wondering how I can possibly extend my baby-free days as long as possible, even in my current distended state.

eh. I'm a bad mother already.

I know I'll get over it sooner or later - definitely when LO arrives. I just have to remind myself to take it one day at a time and not think about the long stretch ahead. Then it's all fine.

I do really hope LO comes a little late though and definitely not early!

In a much less psychotic mode, I did finally get my birthpool sorted out. We're picking it up next Sunday. Yay!

  • Lulu - I just adore your shoe story. You're right, it is entirely your DH's fault. I can just see myself doing something like that in the next couple of weeks... attention to detail is not my strong point at the moment!

Oh, and anyone who is getting all nesty with the curtains - if you want to come over and give mine an iron I'd be much obliged ;) I hung them without ironing just to make sure they fit properly and didn't look terrible... and they're still up, all crinkly!

MrsMcJnr · 12/12/2007 17:15

No one up for nipple twiddling then?! yoga teacher was telling us on Sunday about a woman who takes to her bath with a G&T and Hello magazine and twiddles for 20 mins and it has brought labour on 3 times!!

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 12/12/2007 17:21

The NCT teacher was saying about nipple twiddling bringing on labour but said you'd have to do it for at least 2 hours to get any effect. DP's face was hilarious!!!! "I'll have a go!" were the words I got! lol

Amani - Maybe that's the start of it?
Lulu - Forgot to say our last NCT class I put my welsh rugby shirt on to go (it's got the welsh feathers on the front) wasn't until I was just about to go out the door that DP pointed out that not only did I have it on inside on but back to front as wel! It's a pregnancy thing!!

Amani · 12/12/2007 17:31

Lucky - am so fed up now I bloody well hope so

Amani · 12/12/2007 17:31

Lucky - am so fed up now I bloody well hope so

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 12/12/2007 17:39

Amani - I'm like you but I'm determined not to get upset till at least next Thursday cos of this stupid rule of being 38 weeks for a HB. SO that'll be next Thurs. After that I'll be as bad as you I promise!!

DP is desperate for the baby to be born now (as long as it'll be ok) he keeps seeing LO's in the street and cooing! It's quite funny considering originally he was very scared about being a dad.

Amani · 12/12/2007 17:45

Lucky - we can be 'moaning buddie' together.
feel like everytime i log on am always moaning...

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 12/12/2007 17:47

Yeh I get like that. I woke up this morning feeling like SHITE and thought I don't think there's been a morning I haven't woken up feeling rubbish - either lack of sleep or aching something. I just assumed I'm moaning and keep my mouth shut! Dp keeps saying about "next time" and I'm like "Don't even come near me!" lol

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 12/12/2007 17:49

Hi all you house-nesting, nipple-twiddling, hot-bathing ladies.

I'm popping in and out today. I finally managed to bag my babybjorn sling on ebay. I thought it would never happen!

V. funny about shoes! If anyone needs a laugh I do recommend a flick through the 'mumsnet classics' section. I REALLY nearly PMSL over this earlier today.

I am also feeling the urge just to get on with it now, so sympathies in particular to Amani. I'm beginning to feel llike not going out at all. I'm so slow and my bump hurts and always seems to go into mega BHs when I walk. Think I'm nesting too. In the last couple of days I've bought all the bits I'd forgotten or before thought weren't really necessary and I mean ALL - sling, TENS machine (reduced in Boots ATM - check it out), breast pump, steriliser - the works! I'm also having to restrain myself from doing 3 washes a day as we have a guest but I WOULD be! Our pram arrived too. The carry cot is huge! Has anyone else found this.

Naetha - That's a lovely cot - I considered it too.

MrsMc - hope you are feeling better today.

Lucky - are you from Wales? I am in the heart of red dragon country.

Bean is very reluctant to let me bend over. Whenever I do I get kicks of protest. She must be getting squished. Shall we do a name thing soon?

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 12/12/2007 17:53

Susie - Yep North wales me!
Bump doesn't let me bend over either. I sit at the computer for too long and I get told about it! lol

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 12/12/2007 17:59

Me too! that's what reminded me as I was typing. I'm in Aber! Are you thinking of Welsh name?

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 12/12/2007 18:04

I'm in Wrexham. I want a Welsh name but DP won't let me. I'm currently in love with Ffion for a girl. If I'm going to get my welsh name then I need to find one that doesn't sound welsh.

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 12/12/2007 18:53

Lucky - It's so pants when DH vetoes the names you like!

Ideas for non-welsh sounding Welsh names you might be able to slip past him!

Bethany / Bethan
Lowri
Mari
Mair (pronounce My - er)
Nia
Catrin
Elen

I like Ffion and I also like Anwen, Mair,
And of course Awen!

lilyloo · 12/12/2007 19:11

Evening all
LOL Lulu i did the same thing when pg with ds and went for ant natal in two different boots, i had the same dilemma but decided to point it out as was sure that everyone in the surgery had noticed think i walked around until i got home !
Hope everyone else ok gald to see you found time to catch up Mrs MC helps out when yuo been away for a day!
Well had midwife apt yesterday and she said urine sample loaded with sugar, keytones and protein am now a bit that they left me 4 weeks to see me since last apt when she said i had keytones! So have had to send sample off and she said it could be UTI anyone know what i will have to take for this ?
On top of that midwife joked about not giving me birthing box for home, have to say i didn't see the funny side. Why would this affect h birth ?
Then to top it off she said she would drop birthing box off on Thurs i said she couldn't i was working so she said Monday i told her i was at work so i had to go over to the hospital to pick it up today! I get there and she has rung in sick after midwife found out where she was i waited 45 min for her to put me a bag together which i then had to carry to the car When i asked about entinox i was told the midwife would bring it when in labour but midwife told me yesterday i would get it in advance!
Sorry for rant but am feeling really and not helped by being absolutely shattered!
What a day, but did see ds in his concert last night and was very proud, he was brill!

Good evening all. I tried hard to catch up. No bodys popped since Ive been away.
Had a lovely weekend at my parents. Got some lovely curtains for our newly decorated bedroom. Our pc tower went bang Sunday evening so have been without pc till this afternoon.
Bump getting very low and very heavy. Baby was extremely active Monday evening then I woke at 3am Tuesday morning with very strong and regular contractions every 7 mins for about an hour and half then I fell asleep. Nothing since. Trouble is I had exactly the same with ds3 and he was born a week later.
Well just glad everyone is as well as can be expected. Will try to keep up now I have a pc again
