Thought I’d start a thread for those who have recently had a bfp and due in May 2022.

I’m 3w6d and due on 4th May. This will be my third baby I have a 4 and a 2 year old.

How is everyone feeling? I’m happy as I’ve been trying for a few months but still a little stunned and know it’s very early so trying not to get too excited yet!

No real symptoms yet apart from a bit of cramping. Felt a bit sick yesterday but ok today. I had really bad morning sickness from 6 weeks in my last 2 pregnancies so hoping it won’t be as bad this time.

I went for my scan today and I’m measuring-around 5 weeks 4 days seen the yolk sac but to small to measure properly so they have re booked me for next Tuesday 😊 happy to know it’s in the right place and excited to see more soon x

Wonderful news, @Sarah1987x4 !!!

KerryNatalie · 11/09/2021 09:22

Hello mamas to be! So excited to connect with you all!

This is my first time and I've waited my whole life to have a child so I'm very happy and very excited. Wasn't sure it would happen for me until I met my boyfriend a couple of years ago and now everything I want is falling into place...

I'm 38, we currently live in London but planning to move to the New Forest asap, I'm five weeks now, and due 12 May.

Having a weird thing of feeling like I need to wee but then can't... is that a thing?! Plus mild cramps, and not fancying anything to eat! I don't feel hungry either... and I LOVE my food so its really frustrating Hmm

BabyNewbee · 14/09/2021 10:44

Hi All, I got my bfp on Sunday (had to Google that!) First time I'm pregnant and so excited!

DD looks like 21 May. Would love to join the group and learn from your all.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 14/09/2021 13:06

welcome @KerryNatalie and @BabyNewbee!

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 15/09/2021 15:51

Welcome @KerryNatalie and @BabyNewbee! And congratulations.

That’s great news about your scan @Sarah1987x4

I have a scan booked for this Saturday so I’m really looking forward to it but nervous.

Sorry I’ve been absent the last few days. Morning sickness has hit me hard and I’m finding it difficult with 2 small kids Sad it’s worst in mornings and evenings and I’m worried I’m going to throw up on the school run and look like a weirdo 😂

aNewYorkerInLondon · 15/09/2021 18:13

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat, I hope you feel a bit better soon.

Strangely, I grabbed some frozen grapes today when I was getting that tummy-too-empty type of nausea and they really helped!

BabyNewbee · 16/09/2021 09:30

Sounds like a lot of people are getting scans already -- do you go to your local GP to get that referral? I tried self-referring to a local hospital but haven't heard back from them.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 16/09/2021 11:52

@BabyNewbee the scan I’m having this Saturday is a private one I’m paying for. If you want one I’m sure there will be clinics near you that offer this. If you tell your GP you’re pregnant or self refer to your hospital you will be contacted to arrange an appointment for an nhs scan around 12 weeks.

BabyNewbee · 16/09/2021 12:14

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat Thanks thought that would be the case! Will check my area :)

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 16/09/2021 12:43

@aNewYorkerInLondon thanks for the tip on frozen grapes I’ll try that. I was feeling really sick collecting my son from school yesterday and he asked for an ice lolly and I got one too and it really helped!

@BabyNewbee yes definitely have a look, there are several near me so I’m sure you’ll have one locally. I’m having mine through ultrasound direct and it’s £70 which I didn’t think was too awful. Nervous for Saturday now, just hope everything is ok!

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat I'm sure it will be! Good luck!

GEM711 · 17/09/2021 18:44

Hi everyone,

I got my positive last weekend, and I think I’m due somewhere between 12-18th May. I have irregular cycles so I’m not 100% sure.

This is our first baby, and we have an early scan next week to check that the baby actually exists 😂. Does anybody have any tips to move past the crippling fear that something is going to go wrong?

Symptoms I’ve had so far are cramps & sharp sensations that started at the left side but today also the right and the middle, shortness of breathe and tiredness and thirsty all the time. Do these sound about normal?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 17/09/2021 19:04

Hi @GEM711! Welcome and congratulations! Your symptoms sound like mine in weeks 4-5.

I haven't gotten over the fear yet. Maybe when he or she turns 30? I'm all seriousness though. I'm both terrified and full of hope all the time. It's bizarre, but I think it's how we all feel. Talking here helps a lot. Seems many of us are doing early scans, which should, maybe, give us some peace. (At least for a day or so.)

GEM711 · 17/09/2021 19:19

@aNewYorkerInLondon hello!

I'm absolutely terrified of something going wrong, especially as we're planning on telling family after our early scan. Ideally we would wait longer but we have so many family events coming up over the next few weeks it will be impossible to hide me not drinking from them. Even before I was pregnant I was getting questions when I didn't drink 🤣

How is everybody getting on with not telling people? I don't want to tell work anytime soon, but already had a bottomless brunch booked for tomorrow. I've had to fake a water infection and being on antibiotics which has taken me two days to lay the groundwork for just to have an excuse not to drink tomorrow!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 17/09/2021 20:05

@GEM711, I was lucky because I was dieting most of the year which meant I've been off alcohol anyway, so people have stopped asking.

We went by the guideline of only telling the people we'd want to also tell if something goes wrong.

GEM711 · 17/09/2021 20:08

@aNewYorkerInLondon that's the guideline we are going by too. We did buy some cute tshirts for our nieces (3&6) which we were going to use to surprise their parents, but I'm having strong doubts against that now as I don't want family to have to have to explain why there is no baby should there be any bad news.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 17/09/2021 21:03

@GEM711, maybe save the t-shirts for the holidays?

GEM711 · 17/09/2021 21:24

@aNewYorkerInLondon were definitely going to save them, we will just probably use them to tell the kids once we're past 12 weeks, rather than use them to surprise the whole family 😊

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 18/09/2021 11:27

I’ve been for my early scan this morning and I’m very happy and relieved to say there was a baby in the right place measuring the right size and with a heartbeat. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get a scan but my impatience got the better of me and I’m really glad I did now.

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat how lovely! How far along are you?

We have an early scan on Thursday but I'm not sure how far along I will be, either 6 or 7 weeks I think but as I have an irregular cycle there is a small chance it could be 5.

I've considered pushing it back incase I can't see anything, but I've been a bit anxious so I think it will be better to go in the hopes they can see something. If not, I might book another in a few weeks time.

TwiceLemonDifficult · 19/09/2021 10:29

Morning all. Very excited to find out our IVF cycle has been successful and I'm pregnant! Baby should be due 28th May so I'm officially 4+1 today.

I'm so glad to see it's not just me who after being initially thrilled is now terrified it's not going to work out. We get a six week scan as part of our IVF package to check everything has actually worked but god am I nervous about it. Trying to now get my mind back to anything else to try and distract me but all I want to do is obsessively look at pregnancy and baby stuff!

Congrats!
Just got our BFP at 9dpo and now 13dpo and line is getting steadily darker, but I'm just so scared it's not going to stick!

First pregnancy and just obsessing after trying for around a year and being diagnosed with endometriosis - I can't get fully excited yet and am just worrying.

Technically due 31st May but will also do 6 week scan to try and calm down a bit!

Helps so much to know I'm not on my own!

Wishing everyone a healthy & happy pregnancy!

X
