Hola

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ozzymoomoo · 11/12/2007 20:19

I am well on my way to finishing 500ml of roast coffee ice cream. Not sure whether or not to feel guilty.......

loucee · 11/12/2007 20:30

Insy - wow you are VERY organised! I don't think I'm doing too badly but now finding "extras" to do that don't really need doing.

Ozzymoomoo hmm I love coffee icecream, no need to feel guilty, think of all the good the calcium is doing

Just posted in the food section - can anyone help me here though? How daft am I, I am DESPERATE for a hot chocolate with squirty cream, I have a can of squirty cream in the fridge as a standby for Christmas (never bought it before). Can I use it once tonight and it still be ok for Christmas or would I need to use it all up within 2-3 days? The can doesn't say, just has a Best Before End date.
Just seems a waste to open it for one wee hot chocolate!

ozzymoomoo · 11/12/2007 20:36

Think squirty cream lasts for ages as long as you rinse the nozzle in hot water to get rid of the excess. MMMMMmmmmm hot chocolate. Benn completely off chocolate but now am itching to open the pack of 5 flakes.........

insywinsyspider · 11/12/2007 21:07

loucee - not that organised, dh has just pointed out all the xmas cards we still need to write, doh! run out of cards too, something to do tomorrow tho, just gone out for milk, coffee and biscuits for mw's
and squirty cream is fine as long as you rinse it like ozzy says

cazzybabs · 11/12/2007 21:16

Can we change the title of the thread to all I want for christmas is a (sleeping) baby and someone to have done all my Christmas shopping for me and written my Xmas cards etc etc...

Have the midwife coming round tomorrow - am praying blood pressure has not gone up anymore (and may have come down).

Then am going to see dd2 in her play.

I am really hungry too! Mind you a parent at dd1's school told me I had chnaged shape so much she thought I must have had the baby.

Just think Clarq - might be snuggled up with her little one! How exctiing.

FurryFox · 11/12/2007 21:35

Evening ladies. Huge congratulation claireyb and like everyone else has said, gorgeous photo's!

insy - Glad lo is ok. Cheeky little thing playing up like that

Amani - Am with you on the hunger. I picked up so much stuff in Sainsburys yeterday as I just can't stop eating. The thing is, there's not really anywhere to put it anymore

Hope everyone managing ok and all those overdue ladies get their lo's soon, I'm only 1 day past my due date and am trying my heardest not to get too fed up just yet. Not sure how successful I'm being though

Curlygirly · 11/12/2007 21:42

Haven't been here for a while. Just to say big congrats to all of you that have already had your babies.

Still have 13 days to go and sooo impatient now to just get on with it.

bambino1andbigbump · 11/12/2007 22:49

Clairyb - Your LO is gorgeous, Congratulations.

Skid - Happy due daye. Guessing nothing has happened today for you tho.

Carpet was laid in nursery this afternoon then dh came home with a cot bed and one of those lovely gliding feeding chairs given to us by a friend! All inplace and waiting for LO to arrive now! I just sat in there for an hour on my own thinking. It was lovely and peaceful. I kno dd will be in there tomo with her dolls tho!!

becklesparkle · 11/12/2007 23:28

Buzzy, I had heard of cats and dogs getting jealous of baby, am hoping my kitties will pay no attention to LO when he/she arrives, they are only 1 and have not come across babies before! One of them has been acting very strangely for the last few days though, he keeps following me around and meowing until I sit down and cuddle him! Last night he insisted on sitting on top of my bump with his head under my chin! He was like that at the beginning of my pg too.

Amani, I am having the opposite with food, I keep forgetting to eat as I have no appetite at all! Haven't had for a few weeks really.

Wish I was as organised as a lot of you seem to be! Just finishing off writing Santa letters for the children at DS's school - I do them to help raise money for the PTA. It does take absolutely ages to personalise them all but I love doing it, I can just imagine their little faces when they see that Father Christmas knows things like their ages and siblings names! Going to get them all printed and enveloped up tomorrow and then can get started with my own wrapping!

Bouncingturtle · 12/12/2007 08:46

Yes I think my kitty Barty will be very jealous, he used to having all my attention. DH jokes that there will be a new order in my affections - baby, cat, DH
Barty met my friends ds, he was very curious but I think it'll be difference when I bring my lo home. He is a very gentle, well behaved*well most of the time!) cat so hopefully he'll be alright.

mellymooks · 12/12/2007 09:07

Morning Everyone!

Ooooh Beckle that gave me a shiver when you were talking about how your cat is being with you!! They often sense when things are going to change, maybe it's sixth sense is picking up that the baby is coming soon!!

Hope everyone ok this morning, seeing M/W this afternoon, i know she is going to offer me a sweep but at 40 + 5 i just don't feel ready to be messed with yet, I would like to wait til I'm at least over 41 weeks cause if I calculate my LMP rather than the scan date than my actual due date would be tomorrow.... it's all so vague really isn't it? I wish they wouldn't give actual dd's better to just say within these two weeks or something - of course that makes us less convenient we can't be put into boxes that way eh?!

So think I will say I don't want one today but if still nothing happened after the wkd then I'll think I'll feel more ready to give it a go - do you think that sounds reasonable?

Sorry for rambling on with a me me me post

WizzskaRedbreast · 12/12/2007 09:19

It's so exciting now all the babies are coming.

Hopefully I'll get time to post properly soon and read up what I've missed, just thought I'd say hello with my new very apt christmas name. Rory is waking now so I'll be off.

buzzybee · 12/12/2007 09:24

Melly - sounds eminently sensible to me and anyway you don't have to agree to any intervention they offer unless its a medical emergency.

I'm seeing MW again tomorrow too. Hoping she'll think LO is more engaged but not sure she can tell me much else.

Is the old wives tale that more babies come at a full moon?? Which I think is 24 Dec this month!!?

Bouncingturtle · 12/12/2007 09:28

Never heard that one before, Beckle!

According to my LMP, my due date is 17th, not 23rd, which is interesting since my MW measures me consistantly a week ahead!

Bouncingturtle · 12/12/2007 09:29

Sorry meant Buzzy, not Beckle!

FurryFox · 12/12/2007 09:30

Beckle - I was going to say exactly what melly said about cats and their sixth sense so you never know

melly - I think what you are saying is completely reasonable and you need to do what you're comfortable with

Wizzska - Love the new name . I hope Rory's being an angel for his Mummy, I'm sure he is

Can I just ask, with everyone's due dates that they've been given, are they exactly 40 weeks from your LMP? My due date worked out as 40 weeks and 2 days since my last LMP and I was wondering if that was the norm or have I just been given an extra 2 days? Not that it makes much difference as my due date has passed anyway

loucee · 12/12/2007 09:35

Morning

Buzzy - yes I had heard that about full moons as well, isn't that why there's a moon symbol here on MN?

Furry - my due date is nearer 42wks from LMP because I have long cycles but had only just got them back after stopping bfing. Was the same with DD and she was 3 days late (from scan due date)

I woke up with a bit of an aching back and got far too excited, it's eased now but then came back when I stretched over the table so know it's a wee pull rather than anything starting towards labour!

Think I need to go back to bed for a nap, DD was up loads in the night. Not sure if it's night terrors or something? She often is saying "no mummy, no" in her sleep which is a bit worrying but sometimes she says "no" but then calls for me straight after so I'm hoping its that.

loucee · 12/12/2007 09:44

oh and meant to say I'm also eating double what I was before - do you think it's because our bumps have moved down so we've got a larger stomach again? Bad thing for me is though that I have a really sweet tooth at the moment so the extra space isn't helping my weight gain!

BunnyBaby · 12/12/2007 09:48

Melly / Bouncing - Will be interesting to see what happens. I'm still here, LMP date 3rd Dec, scans were 30th and 28th Nov, so hospital which goes of scan dates has been pestering me for induction. Luckily my IM has been wonderful and has been speaking to them to explain that LMP date is 3rd Dec. I don't want to be induced and in Mum's days often women were allowed to go to 43 weeks, and I'd rather baby come on day of baby's choosing than hospital. Also induction usually results in more intervention as baby may not be ready. My IM had another client booked in at same hospital and they moved her due date forwards by 1 month based on scan. She then had to go through the stress of an induction and long difficult birth. Only to give birth to a 38 week old rather than a 42 week baby (they can tell by size, nails, hair etc...) So very glad midwife is keeping my thoughts on LMP date which would have me 41+1 today.

BunnyBaby · 12/12/2007 09:49

Sorry 41+2

buzzybee · 12/12/2007 09:56

Couldn't agree more Bunny. If I go past my due date (23rd by scan, 22nd by my count) I certainly don't want to be induced until a good week after Xmas Actually am completely with you on the intervention front too - from all I've read induction before your body's ready much more likely to lead in intervention and ultimately CS.

Hope something happens for you in the next few days tho!!

SAmbiClaus · 12/12/2007 10:04

The hospital/medical peeps went off my LMP for due date but didn't take into account my 40 day cycles which should add another week & half to my due date. But I've had 2 dating scans so I guess they must be right even though I KNOW when I did/didn't have sex.

skidaddle · 12/12/2007 10:31

ambi - that's very strange they didn;t take your long cycles into account when calculating your dd - they should always do that, and do you know that you didn;t have sex when you would have had to if the scan dd is correct? Honestly sometimes I think they think all us pg women have no brains at all - surely we can be trusted to know when we had sex at least!!!

buzzy and bunnybaby - completely with you on the induction thing - I really don't want my baby to be forced to arrive before he is ready and I am quite determined not to be induced unless they think he is not thriving. HOwever this is easier to say at 40+1 (today) than 42+ so we will see...

melly - you could ask the mw to have a look at your cervix (well have a feel!) to see if it is 'favourable' - she might then say she wouldn't give you a sweep anyway or at least give you some indication of how things are looking. I had a sweep at 41+5 I think last time and when the mw told me my cervix was favourable and the baby would be coming soon it gave me such a boost

furry - my dd is a bit more than 40 wks from my LMP because I have quite long cycles

wizzska - like your new name - hope it doesn't refer to the state of your boobs

amani - yes eating for England here too.. any more leakages? what do you reckon it was? very quiet without MM isn;t it?

FurryFox · 12/12/2007 10:40

Interesting to hear about all your due dates by scans/lmps. I have a 37 day cycle but they based my date on a 28 day cycle and told me it makes no difference how long your cycle is

So now I should expect to be at least a week late I think, if not more With DD I was 15 days late but I had a 28 day cycle when I got pregnant with her, since having her my cycles have always been 37 days. Can feel myself heading for induction

skidaddle · 12/12/2007 10:55

furry - how did your scan DD differ from your LMP DD? Were they very different? If your DD from your LMP is quite a bit after your DD from your scan it might be worth mentioning this to your mw if you want to avoid induction?
