Bouncingturtle · 11/12/2007 10:12

Pecka - have you any ice in your freezer, coz I'd be tempted to stuff some down his pyjamas the lazy git!!!

HoHoHousemum · 11/12/2007 10:12

Plans for today - hmm, not much really - trying to get the enthusiasm to do the housework but like others have said, there's not much to do. Checked through the Xmas stuff yesterday, that's all wrapped and hidden. Plumped the pillows and shook out the bedding in the spare room, as that's where Mum will stay over if I'm in hospital overnight. Made up the pram and Moses basket and just threw a sheet over the top to keep the dust off - will need more bedding but thought I'd wait until LO arrives so I can get something male or female as appropriate rather than unisex cream. Washing and ironing up-to-date so at least the girls will have clean uniforms!

Ho hum, off to take bottles for recycling and stuff to charity shop (still trying to de-clutter - this could take years...)

Do hope meme is ok.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 11/12/2007 10:13

No, baby hasnt turned yet and god knows how cos I get barely any chance to slouch or lie back!!

Im hands and knees cleaning floor, up and down stairs, standing up or walking round shops at the moment!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrr and breathe - Im so annoyed with him.

If roles were reversed I just cant imagine allowing my partner to take on so much if he was carrying my precious new baby - how dare he just lie in bed!!!!

insywinsyspider · 11/12/2007 10:54

hello,

just got back from 2 hours monitoring - they tried one hour but weren't happy so two cups of tea and some ice cold water later I got a good trace and loads of wriggles and kicks been discharged and have a movement chart, knackered as didn't sleep v well last night as they told me to go straight back in if baby didn't move - think I just have a lazy baby (hoping its this chilled out when it arrives!) or it really is slowing down in prep for birth on plus side I wrote all my xmas cards
Thanks for your messages, it was something of nothing but the mw's were lovely about it

trying to muster enuthusim for housework... where is my nesting insintinct!

cazzybabs · 11/12/2007 10:55

Insy - glad it is all OK!

Amani · 11/12/2007 11:08

Morning,

Thanks Housemum, Pecka and Insy for your response. Had a mw appointment anyway today anyway and she explained the same thing more water, you'd need to keep changing your sanitary towel etc more often if it was a leak and it would smell sweet - which made me laugh at the thought of sniffing my pads! . Next seeing her on Xmas Eve - but hoping to have a baby by then.

Insy - good to hear everything went ok.

Lizzer - Happy due date - hope things gets moving for you soon.

Buzzy - hope the next three days fly by until your mat leave.

Pecka - let him sleep for a bit then 'accidently' wake him up pretending to lose your balancing and dropping a bit of water on him

Talking about nesting insticts - been cleaning house everyday and cooking - now have a nice selection of frozen meals in the freezer to dig into after LO arrives.

Had a rubbish night sleep to last night, so thinking of having a mid morning nap now.....

PeckaRolloverAgain · 11/12/2007 11:46

Ive just put the frame for the amby hammock up - its massive!! So tall! Looks a bit odd - Im hoping that it will be worth it if the baby settles well in it!

Have washed all of the baby bedding and assembled the swing, put up the bunting in the nursery.

Nest, nest, nest!!

(he is still asleep!)

skidaddle · 11/12/2007 12:10

Morning all!

40 weeks today and my last ever day at work, yaaaay!

insy - great news that the scan was OK and also great news that you have a quiet little baby who's not going to cause you too much trouble

clara - thinking of you - gosh they might be lifting him/her out as I type!

pecka and amani - I have had small leakages as well and I am sure it is not wee. Think it is just increased cm towards the end of pg and in my case possibly the beginnings of a show as it is quite gloopy (sorry to anyone having a mid-morning snack!)

poor poor thelady, really feel for her

no word from claireyb - could she be in labour? Think she was due to be induced tomorrow?

cazzy - can't believe how upbeat you are when you are so overdue! I will endeavour to have the same attitude!

lizzer - v. impressed that they will induce you on Xmas eve! Don't think they even bother answering the phone over Xmas up here! Would you go in then or would you wait until after Xmas?

Hope everyone else is doing fine and expect some baby announcements soon...

cazzybabs · 11/12/2007 12:16

skidaddle - I just maintain being pregant is easier than having 3 darlings at home! Anyway, bar being induced there is nothing I can do about it anyway...and the later I am the more likely dh's week of paernity leave will roll in to his Xmas leave leaving me less time to deal with my 3 darlings.

But I am so bloody tired now...mind you having a new born isn't going to help that!

I just wish I had started my Xmas shopping earlier.

Do you think it was your show?

Beanstermummy · 11/12/2007 13:11

Hi Guys. How's in going? Things chez Beanster are still pretty good really - keep expecting a massive come down from birth but I think as everything is just so positive compared with last time nothing really so far is seeming too huge.

Not worked out how to post pics but will try later - with help from DH no doubt! Have just skimmed through posts - Re BF and TheLady's problems so far.

With DD1 I was very similar and it was only when a lovely older MW (my ususal one was on holiday so had random care for 10 days) suggested I expressed for a few days as my nipples were really cracked and bleeding that things worked out. IN the end I expressed for 6 days and then used shields for a few more days - even then, the first 10 seconds or so were bloody agony. I used my sisters 'Mantra' of "Asthma, Excema and nasty nasty bugs" to chant through those initial latching on bit. Don't believe the books when they say MAY hurt - It does, but believe me does get better. IN the end though, all that matters is a healthy happy bug and if the only way that happy is a happy healthy Mummy so I whatever way works I reckon is best. And yes, TheLady's MW sounds crap

Anyway - will continue to check on here to keep a breast of any news - Freya permitting time of course Take care all of you

skidaddle · 11/12/2007 13:18

Hi beanster!!

You sounds very happy and upbeat - does this mean Freya is sleeping a lot? How's the feeding going this time? Is it easier?

Looking forward to pics and hope to be joining you on postnatal thread (40wks today)!

skidaddle · 11/12/2007 13:19

oh yes and how is your DD taking to her little sister? Any signs of jealousy?

claireybraxtonhicks · 11/12/2007 13:56

It's a boy!

They were wrong-he was 7lb!

I didn't poo!

After stop start contractions from Friday evening they finally started getting regular around 9.30pm on Sunday. Went to bed and dozed a bit but by midnight couldn't ignore them any longer, although they still weren't completely regular or of equal intensity. Got up and had a bath, then spent another hour and a half rocking on bathroom floor before deciding to call hospital.

Went in and was examined (reluctantly by mw cos she didn't think my contractions were regular or strong enough to be established labour) and was 4 cm. After the examination they started coming pretty much one on top of the other but still werent timeable cos they varied so much. MW then came back in room and tried to persuade me to go to Bristol cos of babys size but I refused(was actually in transition at that point!)

Started feeling the urge to push at around 4 am but yet again couldn't push effectively so mw got me up on bed to try and help me. In the end she broke my waters for me which allowed his head to move down and after 20 mins of very ineffective pushing he was finally born. Contactions were so much more painful than with dd which I think was due to all the pressure from my waters.

No tears/grazes, just some swelling and very bruised back from dh's overenthusiastic back rubbing. Had a prolapsed cervix but it moved straight back up during the first feed so no worries there.

Oh my god the afterpains! They hurt so much! I never had them with dd but its like labour everytime he feeds. Is latching on ok though although like his big sis isn't too keen on the left one so tends to play with it a bit. One plus of the afterpains is that my tummy has pretty much gone straight away (don't hate me!) and I dont have that horrible jelly ripply belly this time, just a small pouch of flab.

DD loves her little brother so far but is a little bit rough with him! No jealousy yet anyway. When he was born dh looked at him and said "He's not Xavier" and I said "No, he's Douggie" (what dd has been calling my bump) and it really does suit him so that's what we are going with.

Sorry havent read other posts so hope haven't missed any births etc. Am on completely another planet at moment so will come back when am more with it!

Beanstermummy · 11/12/2007 13:56

Skiddadle - things going well yes, sleeping is going ok - feeding still a bit erratic (on demand really until milk is all in and we can both get into a routine of sorts), but yes, in general things excellent.

DD1 keeps refering to Freya as Her Baby whihc is VV cute and refers to herself now as a big sister i.e I'm not a big girl Mummy, I'm a big sister She's been back at nursery for the last few days to try and get a little bt or normality back to her routine and then we try and really focus on her for the hours when she's at home.

Anyway - squeally little girl needs food so best dash

Good luck - for me both times my sweep works within 24 hrs - have you got one planned if nothing occurs in a day or so?

Speak soon

mellymooks · 11/12/2007 14:01

Happy due date Skid!

Sounds like everyone is trying to keep busy, i've just been round the shops and posted a load of xmas cards, now really tired think an afternoon nap is on the cards!

Starting to get slightly concerned about the timing of this LO cause if it should decide not to come till the wkd there's a chance i won't be able to have home birth as they are short staffed but i'm trying not to think about that scenario as what good does it do me?

cazzybabs · 11/12/2007 14:01

claireybraxtonhicks - congratulations! Glad the birth wasn't toooo terrible.

skidaddle · 11/12/2007 14:05

for clairey!!!!!

yaaay, am so so pleased for you that he came of his own accord - he obviously wanted to get in before the induction! Sounds like a pretty good labour although a bit that it hurt MORE than last time (eek)

So cool as well that you took one look at him and knew what his name should be! Am hoping the same will happen to us and I am wasting my time looking at ridiculous baby name websites

Your little DD now a big sister, bless her!

HUGE congrats clairey and hope feeding continues to go well and looking forward to seeing a pic of little Dougie very soon!! xxx

mellymooks · 11/12/2007 14:09

Clairey congrats!! Fantastic news sounds like you did amazingly, hope the after pains stop soon, enjoy your new lovely gem

skidaddle · 11/12/2007 14:10

hi melly - I know it's hard not to worry but have been reading that the best way to make labour happen is to relax and not worry! easy to say I know but as long as the baby is monitored regularly to make sure s/he is fine you shouldn't need to be induced (and can therefore have hb)

beanster - that is so sweet that your dd calls herself a big sister and talks about HER baby - you must have prepared her well. Must be nice for you to have some time alone with Freya when DD1 is at nursery as well

I'm not getting a sweep until 41+3 when I have a consultant appt because my ghastly mw can't be bothered to come and see me... but won't start on a mw rant when we have all these lovely December babies coming thick and fast!!

claireybabyboy · 11/12/2007 14:11

Thanks everyone! Pics now up!

Skid don't worry too much, the contractions hurt more but it was over much much quicker! And the crowning etc hurt less too.

macdoodle · 11/12/2007 14:12

Anyone heard from mememummy she's usually here a lot ???

skidaddle · 11/12/2007 14:17

oh look at him, clairey [hysterical broody emotion]!!! Love the one of your dd and him as well - she is already every bit the bossy big sister! "Yes, he is my baby, yes you can cuddle him briefly but then give him straight back to me!"

hi macdoodle - any twinges from you? Not seen any messages from meme, am thinking she might have had her baby?

mellymooks · 11/12/2007 14:21

Bouncingturtle · 11/12/2007 14:22

skidaddle · 11/12/2007 14:22
