Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FurryFox · 10/12/2007 18:41

Hi all, sorry not much time to catch up at the minute but wanted to say good luck for tomorrow clara and fifi for Thursday if I don't get on here before then.

insy - Did you go to hospital to be monitored?

I had a MW appointment earlier and mentioned that movements had been a lot less, had only had 4 by 1.20 and only about 9 yesterday. Took her a while to find heartbeat which was a bit of a worry (for me) but got there in the end. Anyway she sent me to hospital to be monitored and to check everything ok. Was monitored for about an hour, all ok and quite a few movements felt so one happy fox . Have been given a kick chart to note movements and if less than 10 in 12 hours then to go back again. Hospital were great and feel so re-assured now I've been. If any of you ladies are worried about movements etc then I'd say just go to hospital, I feel so much better now having been checked and knowing things are ok.

40 weeks for me today and no sign of her making an appearance anytime soon, hey ho

Hope you're all well and looking after yourselves

And sorry for me me me post

HoHoHousemum · 10/12/2007 19:07

Amani - you will probably know if it's your waters - it's wetter than a discharge, and you know you aren't peeing as it continues. It may be slightly pinkish in colour, and apparently it can smell sweet. Mine went with a trickle last time- I just "knew" I hadn't wet myself, and just had to keep a maxi pad on and change it quite often until in full-on labour and in hospital. Sometimes it stops when the head plugs the hle, so to speak!

HoHoHousemum · 10/12/2007 19:07

hole, that is meant to say, not some new abbreviation!

buzzybee · 10/12/2007 19:35

Speaking of post-natal threads thelady is having a really hard time if you haven't seen her thread here

Very warm night here last night so tossed and turned ... not so good at being 39 weeks PG when its closing in 30C! (not that hot at night obviously) Having a bit of a mini-heat wave (which Wellington where I live not normally known for). No-one eles's complaining tho! Apologies to those of you feeling the cold in the UK...

cazzybabs · 10/12/2007 19:49

BB - 30oc would be too hot for me...I find it diffucult enough when the shops are over heated (I think I am about to faint).

Poor old thelady (Thanks for pointing that thread out)...I rememer thinking with dd1 bf would be so easy...ha ha!!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 10/12/2007 19:58

Amani, Im having similar concerns about waters going with a trickle.

Far TMI but a couple of times over the last few days I have felt a situation of leaking SOMETHING.! Feels the same as when sperm comes back out IYKWIM.

Also have woken up a bit wet and had slightly wet knickers on ocassion but as a third time mother Im not entirely convinced that maybe my pelvic floor is completely giving up on me

OR

heavier more watery discharge which is common in late pregnancy.

claraquitemassivenow · 10/12/2007 20:17

Thanks so much for all the good luck messages ladies, it really means a lot to me.

I had my pre-op assessment this afternoon and although they tried another sweep, my cervix is still not "favourable" so I don't feel so bad about giving up on a natural birth as it doesn't look like it was going to happen soon anyway.

Btw for anyone contemplating a sweep, it's probably worth trying but asking the m/w to stop if it is too uncomfortable (eg bloody painful) as that generally means things aren't ripe and ready yet. But check this with your m/w.

Insy - we won't know the time of the section until tomorrow, although have to be there for 8.15am. If they have to many emergencies, it could even be delayed for another day!! it is very surreal knowing you're having a baby tomorrow but as I had an elective section last time too I don't know any different!

Wizz - I hope your poor nipples are getting better. I know I will be joining you on the postnatal board very soon to sympathise. If it's any help I used nipple shields last time to get me through the worst part and it didn't seem to worry my dd at all. I would also really recommend Lansinoh cream.

Fifi - good luck for Thursday! I hope they don't keep you in too long.

thelady - not sure if you're keeping up on this board but read some of your thread on the other board. You seem to have been incredibly strong to have kept trying as long as you have and please don't feel bad about whatever decision you make about breastfeeding.

Good luck everyone else - there'll be quite a few of us on the postnatal board very soon....

insywinsyspider · 10/12/2007 20:26

furryfox and loucee - just got back from hospital and they aren't too sure about my monitoring I have to go back in the morning at 8.30am because the first half hour baby did nothing and the second half hour it was completely 'normal' - she mentioned fetal anemia but I have no idea what that means, wondering if it may have something to do with my large bleed at 10/11 wks, I've tried a google and MN search but not found anything useful as I'm not Rhesus -ve and thats all it says... my notes say 'pseudo sinosoidal period at beginning' and 'possible shallow variable something (can't read writting) in this period before reverting to normal' anyone have any idea??

am getting a little worried as I've carried this baby so far I can't get my head round there may be a problem now...

sorry to ignore everyones posts - hope you're all ok!

cazzybabs · 10/12/2007 20:28

Insy - when I was pregnant with dd2 I had to go in for monitoring because she wasn't moving..anyway when I got there she went mad and I had to go back the next day because she was moving too much and then there are still was something wrong so I had to go for a scan!

Try not to stress to much - if they were reallty worried they would be inducing you now!

insywinsyspider · 10/12/2007 20:31

thanks cazzy - I've just had a chat to dh and maybe they are being over cautious because I'm planning a homebirth??

Bouncingturtle · 10/12/2007 20:34

Yes, just read thelady's thread, the poor thing! Still sounds like she is getting lots of support from MN, just as well coz her MW sounds fecking useless

insywinsyspider · 10/12/2007 20:56

just had a little catch up...

claraq - good luck for tomorrow hope they don't keep you hanging till wed

wizz - you reminded me to find the cream I had last time for ds - its a huge tube and I hardly made a dent on it even though I used it constantly at first... would prefer not to folk out for some more! hope your nips toughen up soon!

Amani - my waters didn't break last time, mw asked me when I got to hosp if they had and I said I wasn't sure, she laughed and said they hadn't then cause I'd 'know' - I had them broken for me in the end but I'm hoping like everyone says if they go this time I'll just 'know'

insywinsyspider · 10/12/2007 20:56

fork not folk

becklesparkle · 10/12/2007 22:13

Wizz, glad little Rory is doing well! Wonder why the MWs don't think nipple shields are a good idea? Surely anything that makes BF easier and more comfortable is good? MWs here recommended I use nipple shields with DS1 due to the soreness I was getting! Trouble was that he was so vigorous with his sucking they made the cracks open up more. With DS2 it thankfully didn't take too long for my nips to toughen up!

Loucee, does sound like Carpal Tunnel in your hands, very uncomfortable. On the plus side, it is fairly common during pregnancy and should disappear afterwards.

Furry, glad your LO is okay. I am never quite sure whether 10 movements means 10 sets of movements or 10 actual ones ie 10 kicks?

Insy, hope you get some answers tomorrow and your LO is okay, if they are worried then as Cazzy says, they will induce you. Are you supposed to worry if you don't feel baby move for 1/2 hour? Mine is often quiet for a couple of hours at a time and I don't get a great deal during the day at all - most of it is in the evening.

Clara, good luck for tomorrow! Hopefully you will be snuggling your new LO by this time tomorrow!

becklesparkle · 10/12/2007 22:34

Oh, I got my consultant appt through today for my hernia. For Jan 11th. 10th Jan will probably be my induction date if I get that far!

Tried to change the appointment but they have 'no appointments available at the moment, try phoning after Christmas'. Helpful.

Lizzer · 10/12/2007 22:52

Hi all, just signing in to say happy due date to all of us who's it was today, and....well what a load of bollocks that was

Consultant agreed not to induce me til 14 days though, he's even working on xmas day...Hmm, I'm changing my mnd about the whole induction thing now

Sending you all lots of birthing vibes and hope the nips heal soon (i've bought the silverette cups wizzska, expensive but apparently worth it, let me know if you want the link to the website)

Good luck for tomorrow Clara

Thanks for advice on book Suey2, I'll be too busy to read to dd for a while now anyway I reckon!

mellymooks · 11/12/2007 07:38

Thinking of you Clara!
Good luck for Thurs Fifi!

Hope everyone ok this morning, i woke up at the crack of dawn so decided I might as well get up and potter about feeling urge to tidy and clean but think it's more just the desire to try to keep busy and not think about what's not happening rather than it actually "meaning" anything!!

what's everyone up to today? Think i might go to shops and get my niece and nephew their xmas pressies.

buzzybee · 11/12/2007 08:09

hmmm - well I'm still working!! Not good still at work at 9pm tonight - but to be fair had a Xmas lunch today and farewell drinks tonight for someone retiring then forced to come back to my desk to finish something I'd promised for tonight...
Still very warm here - 25 degrees at 8pm. Aircon here not great either so feeling rather sweaty and yucky at my desk.
However, another xmas lunch tomorrow and friday to look forward to!!

Good luck Clara and Fifi, thinking of you Insy, and happy due dates all!

buzzybee · 11/12/2007 08:10

oooh and Shells has had a show!

loucee · 11/12/2007 08:26

Morning everyone

Beckle - thanks, hope it does go after birth.

Buzzy - I am exhausted come 9pm, don't know how you managed to be at work so late! Hope you have some nice festive lunches though.

Exciting about Shells having a show, come on December babies!

buzzybee · 11/12/2007 08:42

Thanks loucee, only 3 days to go to ML!
I just come home and go to bed...don't really need to eat after the big lunch anyway.

Here's hoping for some word from clara, meme and caz10 about babies tomorrow

Bouncingturtle · 11/12/2007 09:31

Yes, ladies don't keep us in suspenders!

I'm sooo tired, had an awful nights sleep, tossing and turning (well as best I can do with 6lb baby strapped to my tum ) and weird vivid and rather unpleasant dreams!
Going to Bumps & Babes this morning, then having lunch then a nice long nap!

cazzybabs · 11/12/2007 10:02

So do I win the prize for most hopeless pregnant person...

at a week (by my dates) and 10 days by scan dates over due I finally found all the bits and bobs I would need...I got ready in one place all the stuff I will need should I be lucky enough to get my home birth and put most of my stuff I will need should I need to into hospital in a pile on the floor.

I am going to try and buy a maternity bra today!

AND I was nesting yesterday...

Good luck Shells too!

Clara - am thinking of you!

Insy - hope the monitoring when OK this morning!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 11/12/2007 10:02

Im very f*cking cross today.

I have 90% finished house, christmas and nursery/baby stuff. Decided this week would actually get some stuff finished now Im 38 weeks.

I have done nearly ALL of the work involved in getting house ready (we have converted our conservatory into bedroom, had new kitchen in, repainted and floored downstairs, decorated nursery etc)

I have done 100% of baby preperation

and

100% of christmas

SOOO you would think, wouldnt you that today when my husband is off work when I ask if we can get stuff sorted today and put pictures up in nursery and work out how to put amby hammock up he would be only too willing.

oh no! HE has gone back to bed whilst I huff and puff down the stairs and up and down step ladders - I have just gone in bedroom and he has the CHEEK to have ear plugs in.

cazzybabs · 11/12/2007 10:06

Pecka - that is men for you!

I got cross (except a bite my tounge)...I wish dh would hlep more with the housework/tiding...instead of starting DIY projects which OK need doing but not right now!

You be careful with that ladder.

Has your little one turned yet?
