mellymooks · 08/12/2007 16:33

Beanster - huge congrats!!

Caz10 - hang on in there - wow clary sage really seemed to work for you eh? Good luck, thinking of you xxxxxxxx

Amani · 08/12/2007 18:48

Congratulations SarahPT and Beanstermummy!!

Bump is really 'aching' this evening especially more so when I cough and feels rock hard. Anyone experienced similar pains or know what it is about? Had a warm bath and considering taking paracetamol and it is aching when I walk aswell.

Bit woried so if anyone can help..???

insywinsyspider · 08/12/2007 19:32

congrats beanstermummy!

very exciting Caz! keep us posted!

Amani - not sure about bump going rock hard when you cough, but when mine goes rock hard thats braxton hicks - mine don't hurt as long as I'm not dehydrated, could be everything warming up for labour? paracetamol sounds like a really good idea if you are uncomfortable, did the bath help at all?

claireybraxtonhicks · 08/12/2007 19:35

Congrats to Sarah and Beanster!
Still nothing here but went in for CTG trace again today (no reason other than the consultant wanted me to!) and it registered 3 contractions in 10 minutes. Have been having the tightenings on and off all day since so hopefully is pre labour and baby will come before wednesday and I'll be able to avoid induction.

Good luck Caz and everyone else.

I am also measuring 35/36 cm (depending on who does it), midwife today said she can feel baby is really tightly curled up and also that she thinks this baby is probably the right size for my frame and that dd was probably a bit big (which could explain why she got stuck on the way out!)-she was really lovely and reassuring about it all which was good after how I came away feeling on wednesday so glad I went in today really.

insywinsyspider · 08/12/2007 19:53

clairey - fingers crossed its early labour - but good to get in there before wednesday feeling positive about mw app I'm sure will help things on their way

mellymooks · 08/12/2007 19:59

Amani - my bump been feeling rock hard a alot of the time but I haven't experienced aching particulary.
I was guessing it was so hard as there's no room left anymore and my skin and bump are stretched so tight like a drum.

loucee · 08/12/2007 20:32

Hi everyone

Congratulations Beanster!! What a fantastic birth story and I'm so happy for you that you avoided the cs. You did so well to manage without the epidural too.

Your posts about where your babies are kicking is really reassuring for me, thanks girls.

Caz, hope you're alright, let us know how you're progressing.

Amani - aching bump sounds like it could be a sign, when are you due?

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

skidaddle · 08/12/2007 20:53

beanster - well done!! Can't believe you've had her already - you sound so happy, and so pleased it all went so well (apart from the failed epidurals!) - pics asap please!

Caz10 - how exciting - will look for your other thread - hang on in there and good luck xx

amani - don't know sorry - have had a bit of an achey bump after over-exerting myself but has never lasted long. Might be worth phoning your mw to set your mind at rest?

clairey - sounds very promising - fingers crossed for you - would be so fantastic if he/she arrived of their own accord before Wed

claraq - sorry it hasn't progressed any more - pains last night is a good sign though... will cross all my fingers for you! (oh and wouldn't worry about upset tummy harming the baby if that's what it is)

bambino1andbigbump · 08/12/2007 21:11

Congratulations Beanster!!! Love the name. I'm soo . 39 weeks today!

What is clary sage supposed to do? Trying everything else with no effect at all. Had a bit of reflexology whilst having pedicure and she said it might get things going. Nothing as of yet!

mellymooks · 08/12/2007 21:26

Clary Sage is an essential oil that is very stimulating to the uterus, hence why it must not be used until you are due or overdue and then you should only use 6 drops in bath (stir water well) or 6drops to 20ml of a carrier oil in a back massage or burn some in oil burner.

mellymooks · 08/12/2007 21:34

Stopped having any twinges at all now, but when the baby kicks i can feel it in my lower pelvis and fanjo - do you think this means it is really lowered into position more than a couple of days ago - feels very different, anyone else feeling this?!

Amani · 08/12/2007 21:42

Thanks skid, loucee, melly and insy for your responses.
Bath helped a little and have taken some paracetamol which has taken the edge of the pain, still feel uncomfortable so going to have an early night and see how I feel a bit later. Not due until 30th Dec but 37 weeks tomorrow so anything is possible now.

fifisworld · 08/12/2007 22:01

Congratulations Beanster

Good luck caz, hope it happens soon for you, if it hasnt already!

Does anyone know anything about hospital visiting hours for your other dc's?
My hospital visiting hours are 2 - 3.30 then 6 - 7.30 but can your other kids normally come in with your partner outside these hours?

loucee · 08/12/2007 22:25

Fifi - our hospital will only let your kids in during visiting hours.

Skidaddle - couldn't see a bump pic in your profile?

Bambino, I've heard reflexology is supposed to be really effective, give it time yet!

Melly, sounds like your little one is getting ready by the exit!

My car is on it's last legs. Good thing is that we're going to test drive some tomorrow but downside is finances, from being in the house a lot more I've been finding lots of things to add to the "must buy" or "need to do" list

bambino1andbigbump · 08/12/2007 22:31

Fifi - our hospital is the same. Dh isn't allowed outside of visiting hours once on post natal ward.

Loucee - hopefully it will get me going. So fed up now. DH just told me to stop whinging!

Asked about clary sage on preg thread and it sounds like very powerful stuff. I won't use unless go very overdue.

I will be 10 days overdue on xmas day. They won't induce me then will they?

loucee · 08/12/2007 22:38

No I think they'd leave you til Boxing day at least Bambino. I tried the clary sage with DD but it didn't appear to have any effect - no BHs etc. It was the sweep from the MW that did things for me at 3 days overdue.

bambino1andbigbump · 08/12/2007 22:44

Got sweep booked for 40+2 so fingers crossed cervix is favourable. I would really like to have baby before christmas for dd1 sake really.
I don't know why just got it into my head that this baby is going to be reallly overdue. dd1 was 7 days late.
Also already been told this baby is a big one! Joy!!

cazzybabs · 08/12/2007 22:47

OK just to prepare myself...tell me what happens at a sweep...

fifisworld · 08/12/2007 22:49

Thanks, i was just wondering coz im not sure yet what time i'll get my cs on Thursday and i want to see ds but it'll probably be too late for him to come at the night time.
Dp can stay with me from 8am - 12 then he's sent away and can come back from 2 - 8.30 though so its not too bad

bambino1andbigbump · 08/12/2007 22:50

Cazzy - its like an internal where mw puts fingers up to feel if the cervix has softened or started dilating at all. If they can they will feel for babies head and sweep the membranes. This is meant to set hormones off for labour to start. Not meant to be too uncomfortable!

cazzybabs · 08/12/2007 22:52

See - I just googled it (how stupid) and everyone said how painful it is...however as dh would point out people only tend to post bad things, rather than good things! Anyway the propect of people putting fingers up bits that they shouldn't kind of freaks me out! May wait until really really really overdue(rather than next Weds when just really overdue).

bambino1andbigbump · 08/12/2007 22:54

Cazzy- you don't have to have one if you don't want to but once in labour your midwife will be internally checking you anyway.
I've heard sweep isn't that sucessful but I can hope!!

loucee · 08/12/2007 22:58

Cazzy mine didn't hurt me (haven't had one yet this time as only 38+6), it was a little uncomfortable but only for a minute. It's all done very politely with a blanket over your bits and the MW is chatting nicely and telling you everything she's doing and why/how etc.

Fifi - Thursday isn't far away now, you must be so excited.
