Hola

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
buzzybee · 08/12/2007 06:54

Yeah Bouncing I'm not too concerned about that - but was getting optimistic it might be a sign she was getting ready to come! Now feel it could be a while off yet...still going to do what I can to encourage things though.

Just eating some pineapple, have a Lush clary sage bath bomb for tonight's bath and even got a bottle of red wine out! Not exactly hardship is it

Have also set up nursery, blown up the inflatable bath, set out nappy stuff etc. Come on, come on, come on!!!

Shells · 08/12/2007 08:06

I am a bit twingey tonight. But then I've been that before and nothing has happened. Just had a hot curry so who knows...

SAmbiClaus · 08/12/2007 08:33

Congrats Sarah PT, I'm so pleased for you.

I'm slowly reaching the top of the list now, the "before my due date" so far yet to pop are; bunnybaby/littleoldme/cazzybabs/claraq/mad4girls.

Mad4girls hasn't been on for ages, hope she's ok.

Xmas cards, I've addressed them and put To on the cards and will sign them when LO arrives and want to put a birth announcement with photo inside so I don't have to send them out separately. Although am not bothered if they don't arrive with people until after xmas, (I think people will understand) I don't send that many anyway, about 30 plus 10 at work.

Although have now switched off my mobile and have stopped answering the phone, I've never felt so popular but people are just so damn nosey, do they think that "Have you had it yet?" is helpful when you're 40+5 and showing absolutely no signs of moving forward. Poor Hubby has it worse, he's surrounded by women at work (inc. one who's pg) who are fussing every single day, at least I can escape it.

Got out of the fog of frustration yesterday and started to relax about being overdue. My thinking behind it is that LO is giving me more days to relax/unwind and have to myself until she arrives and unleashes war on our quiet life!

Jingle bells to all - trying to get a little festive...

buzzybee · 08/12/2007 08:58

Hi Ambi and Shells! The twinges are maddening aren't they?!! Last time I don't remember anything much before it was all on...oh well still 2 weeks to go and as others have said they're unlikely to induce over Xmas.

If it wasn't for Xmas I don't think I'd be too concerned which is crazy really. She'll come when she's ready

SAmbiClaus · 08/12/2007 09:13

I hope the old wives tales work for you guys, I'm a bit pessamistic about it all now. Had clary Sage burning in a diffuser for about a week, spicy food a couple of times this week. Also some wine at nights and RL tea during the day - haven't done the pineapple though. I reckon it's all tosh and babies def. arrive in their own sweet time! Esp. the more inconvenient it gets, so looks like I'll be missing my best friends wedding next Saturday, which I'm really upset about.

buzzybee · 08/12/2007 09:30

Ambi, sorry to hear about the wedding. If its any consolation I was hoping to go to a wedding about 2 weeks after DD1 was born and in the end didn't make it as I was quite exhausted. Same thing happened at my wedding with a friend of mine. In the end you just have to focus on you and the baby.

claraquitemassivenow · 08/12/2007 09:44

Hi all.

Still here although bowels still dodgy (sorry if you're eating breakfast/lunch). My DH is insistent I call the midwives this afternoon if I'm still feeling bad as he is worried about it but I am sure it's either pre-labour symptoms or a dodgy tummy (would that harm the baby?). Or possibly all the curries and chillis I've been eating this week.

I did think things were starting in the night as I was getting a lot of different pains which in my half-asleep state I thought might be very early contractions.

However this morning it all seems to have stopped. Grrrrrrrrr. They have also brought my c/section date forward by a day to Tuesday as they are so busy so now I only have three nights left.

SarahPT - congrats on your little boy, I hope you are getting some sleep!!

Wizz - Rory looks gorgeous in the pic. How are you getting on? Have you made it to the post-natal thread yet? There will be enough of us soon to start nattering on there instead of here.

Good luck to everyone else who is nearing/over their due dates. Cazzybabs you make me feel a lot better as I think you are even calmer than I feel about being so far over our due dates. Here's to a quick, easy birth - and soon!

Lizzer · 08/12/2007 11:48

Hi there, congrats to Sarah and welcome to the world to your ds!

Ah wizzka, beautiful blue baby boy, bless him!

Cazzybabs, yeah I'm in denial about impending baby too, I want one of course but I am loving not working and pottering around too..

Bloody hell BT, hope you are totally recovered now, take care of yourself... What a shock

Skidaddle, I don't know what to do! A part of me wants to give it my best shot and go as far as possible without medical intervention, the other wants to be back home for dd's b-day (on 23rd) and xmas day. Given that they want to keep me in til baby wees properly (to check his kidney problem) I sort of guess that I would have to go in at 41 w to ensure all this happens in enough time but its soooo unfair putting me and him through an induction which (at ay other time of the year) would be deemed unecessary. GAH! sorry, rant over. I'm seeing consultant on monday, in a way I can't be bothered to argue anymore and might just go with what he says [despondant emoticon] What have you decided to do?

Ambi LOL @ 'never felt so popular' I know what you mean but it does get a bit tiresome doesn't it?! the school gates are the worst for me, everyone feels like they have a god given right to stroke the bump and get you to open up to them about your plans! I am secretly enjoying the attention though

Well tonight I am going out to watch the golden compass and go out for dinner with a friend. Last chance saloon!!

Good luck every one who is twitching and/or opening bowels a lot!! Come on babies get a wriggle on

SAmbiClaus · 08/12/2007 12:05

Does contractions feel very different from the baby moving? I have no idea what contractions feel like, if whats happening now is it or it's not painful enough. Must be just the baby moving constantly, or braxton hicks - maybe should wait for some real pain to kick in before getting hopeful, though the shooting pains in my fanjo aren't so comfy, hmmm this child bearing is so glamourous isn't it.

becklesparkle · 08/12/2007 12:19

Morning all!
From what I remember Ambi my contractions contractions I got while in early labour with my DSs were just like BHs only I could feel them 'pulling' in my fanjo. They gradually got more intense over a day or two with the pain getting higher until the whole bump hurt!

Apparently the pulling feeling is the neck of your cervix rolling back and thinning out ready to dilate.

becklesparkle · 08/12/2007 12:20

Really must learn to proof-read before posting!

becklesparkle · 08/12/2007 12:21

Also, everyone has different levels of pain tolerance so just because your contractions may not feel 'painful enough' doesn't mean they are not real - it could be pre-labour and everything limbering up!

SAmbiClaus · 08/12/2007 12:21

Still won't get hopeful though, but don't wanna gush on the sofa so must get up now!!

becklesparkle · 08/12/2007 12:23

Hehe! My DH is thinking of banning me from sitting on the sofa in case my waters go! Mind you, not everyone's waters break spontaneously - mine were broken both times before and my Mum's were broken each time too.

Wizzska · 08/12/2007 13:13

Beckle - get some of those maternity mats from Mothercare. You can sit on them in case your waters go. Then you could also use them if you leak milk at night if you breastfeed.

My waters went dramatically in the middle of the night - but all over the carpet when I stood up.

My contractions didn't feel that painful. Easily managable with a tens machine. Not sure if that was because I wasn't dilating enough. The graph on the monitor said I was having them strongly though. Am I a hard nut or was my body just not working hard enough - that is the question.

HoHoHousemum · 08/12/2007 13:27

I bought some Pampers bed mats yesterday - they were out of the maternity mats in M'Care but I thought they'd do the same job, after all they are designed to absorb pee! And they sell those in the supermarkets, so if anyone's not near a Mothercare they might be a better idea? £6 for 7. No idea how they compare as haven't seen the maternity mats. When I was BF I leaked a bit at night, but put a double layer of towels under the bottom sheet which was enough as it wasn't a great deal, and that wasn't too uncomfy to sleep on.

When my waters went last time it was more of a constant trickle - it was at teatime, so my jeans absorbed it while I went to get one of many maternity pads. that's one of the reasons you get through so many - not just the blood after, but if your waters go before you'll need them if you don't want to leave a trail behind you!!!

3 weeks to go but I just want this baby NOW!!!

cazzybabs · 08/12/2007 13:40

The rain is really ammoying me....is it ever going to stop plus I am really tired as one of the cats woke me up at 6.30 by mieowing outside our window to be late in (why it couldn't use the catflap is beyond me)..so I did much to the annoyance of dh (who had a hangover)...then about 10 minutes later dd1 woke up and started singing in a really loud voice!

becklesparkle · 08/12/2007 13:59

I reckon you are a hard nut Wizz! I remember not dilating with DS2 because I tensed up through the contractions, going to try and relax this time and see if I get a shorter labour! How are you getting on?

I am really uncomfy today - never thought I'd be moaning about this! Have had lower back ache (similar to when you are due on) all day today. Had a real heavy pain on one side of my lower back earlier too, made it hard to walk for a minute! Did wonder then if things were going to kick off but nothing since. Besides, my other 2 labours didn't start that way and I am highly unlikely to be early!

mellymooks · 08/12/2007 14:11

Hello everyone! You're all making me chuckle!

I know totally what you mean too about being popular, I can feel this immense pressure from everyone of expectation.

My Mum phoned yesterday morning because she was out at the shops and wanted to know if anything was happening because it was a convenient time for her to get a bus ticket!!! Then she launched into a great long list of dates over the next 2 weeks when it will be easy/difficult for her to get ticket/come visit grrrrrrrrrr! How the bloody hell am I meant to know, I'm beginning to feel like I'm just something else that needs to be "fitted in" around xmas - sorry rant over - just feeling a touch sensitive!

Twinges have calmed down loads since yesterday so think the baby was just teasing me....
please come soon LO please please please!!!

becklesparkle · 08/12/2007 14:28

IKWYM Melly! I have not started to get the phone calls yet but my brother did ask the other day when would be good to visit over Christmas between 27th and 29th? I understand he needs to plan his trip but I am due on 27th FFS, how am I supposed to know when LO is going to put in an appearance?!

Caz10 · 08/12/2007 15:08

Hi all, in early labour and it BLOODY HURTS!

Went for my 1st clary sage bath last night at 8.30pm - 1st contraction at 9.30pm!

10 mins apart till 2.30am, then 5 mins apart ever since. Have been into labour ward, head is down but I was only 1-2cm so they said we could come home - that was at 8am and don't feel like I've made any progress! Bouncing on ball, TENS on, please tell this baby to HURRY UP!

Oooh had a show too but no waters yet...

claraquitemassivenow · 08/12/2007 15:22

Just posted on your other thread - good luck! Will tune in later for an update.

I am feeling VERY despondant as nothing more happening and feel like it just isn't. Everyone else has gone out, I just don't want to do anything.

Beanstermummy · 08/12/2007 15:42

IT'S A GIRL

Hi guys. Sorry not posted since Wednesday - but yeah ha - all sorted and tiny wonderful little girlie now at home.

Had sweep on Wed am and agreed to leave things until Mon 10th for Waters to be broken (if some progress down there) if not a section - but.....

8am Thur, few contractions 8 to 10 mins apart.
4pm Thur - still regular contractions but still 6 - 8 mins apart and 40 secs or so

6pm Thur - more regualr so called Hospital - they said do the bouncing on ball bit, timing etc and when either 3 in 10 mins and at least 1 mins in length or waters go, come in

10pm - much stronger and more frequent so went in. Only 3 cm but car ride must have done the trick as much stronger and more frequent

02:30am - Epidural (No. 1 attempt) put in - but half hour alter still bloody sore and no effect - joy!

03:50 am (!!) Yep that much longer even though 2nd one ) waters broken because LO was too wriggly for tummy monitor straps to work and they wanted the internal head clip thingy on - however still to wriggly and that didn't work either!

06:00am - Ow this bloody hurts, please check to see how far gone I am - No. 2 Epidural not having worked either so eyes now rolling around in my skull from too much gas and air

06:50am - Yeah ha - Freya Elise Murray arrives into the world weighing 7lb 4oz and Mummy knackered and sore but no tears or stitches so rather happy about all that.

19:00 - allowed to go home with LO so back in time for DD1 bedtime even - Very very happy Beanstermummy here

All in all - yes very sore - but even now the difference between last time's ECS and this is amazing. Freya was a tad cold for a few hours after the birth which was a bit scary but not too bad and is sleeping and feeding really well already (sleeping bit no doubt is result of the tiring work of being born and will change soon I bet!) and DD1 now had 'Her Baby Sister'

Caz10 - Keep going Honey - I know I felt all day Thursday that nothing was happening but it does in the end - don't be afraid of going bak to the hospital if you feel you need to - the midwives for me were brilliant and from the outset they said to come in if I felt I wasn't coping.

Will try and log on more tomorrow and even post pics if I can, but can't promise. Good luck the rest of you and in the middle of it I didn't think I would get there - especially when Epi didn't work so only G&A etc - but it's amazing - when your Mum rattles on that the pain goes away pretty instantly - for once they are right

RGPargy · 08/12/2007 15:51

Congrats Beanster!!!!!

cazzybabs · 08/12/2007 16:10

Beanstermummy - congratulations....hope it is all going well!

Caz10 - how exciting and your early! Hope things speed up for you!
