Hola

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FurryFox · 07/12/2007 17:35

Wizzska - Rory is gorgeous, well done you

Bouncing - Hope you're feeling better now, take it easy.

Cazzy - You sound remarkably laid back even though you're past your due date. Good for you

melly - Does sound promising hopefully this is the start of it for you

loucee - Have fun seeing Father Christmas tomorrow . I'm off to do some Christmas shopping or I'll never get it finished, not sure how long I'll last though round a hectic shopping centre!

loucee · 07/12/2007 17:39

Cazzy - I feel a bit in denial as well!
I agree, she should've mentioned it before now the position of the baby but they are sooooo vague about everything (they never offer information about heartbeat, never measure fundal height or about urine etc).

Chinese curry - what's that like, don't think I've ever had one? Is it better for bringing on labour than Indian curry?

FurryFox · 07/12/2007 17:39

Caz - I will be looking out for some gloop then

at all this talk of bowel action too!

Bouncingturtle · 07/12/2007 17:54

I'm out of bed again, but plan to veg out on the sofa for a bit while I wait for DH and DSS and then I'll do a bit of dinner for us. Then more vegging on the sofa!!
Might write some Xmas cards out in a bit!

FurryFox · 07/12/2007 18:00

Glad you've had a rest Bouncing

On the subject on Christmas cards what's everyone putting on theirs with regards to babies? I'm due on Monday and would probably send the cards out mid next week but if lo hasn't made an appearance should I just not put anything? Or bump or what? Not that important I know but just curious as to what everyone else is doing?

Bouncingturtle · 07/12/2007 18:06

I'm just putting from Bump on mine.

mellymooks · 07/12/2007 18:08

Furry - I've put "and bump" on the ones I've already written

Loucee - not quite sure exactly what's in the chinese curry my other half makes it -- he says is chinese style - veg is stir fried and there is less sauce - very tasty!! No idea if it's better than an Indian curry for bringing on labour.

Still getting twinges and baby very active....

FurryFox · 07/12/2007 18:08

Think I may do that too

mellymooks · 07/12/2007 18:10

Cazzybabs - my bump is measuring 35.5cm - is that quite small then? Have no idea being a first timer I just feel so huge I assumed I was!!

Amani · 07/12/2007 18:41

Evening all

LOL @ skid dream - you crazy woman!

Lovely picture Wizzska - so sweet!

Loucee - thought Indian curries were supposed to be ones to go for as they tend to be more spicy, hence get the bowels moving and in theory the uterus going.

I last meaured 34 cm at 35 weeks which mw said was 'Fine'.

loucee · 07/12/2007 19:18

Talking of measuring bumps, I put a tape measure round my largest part of my bump at the weekend, wow - I've never had a 45inch waist before

Amani/melly, thanks for info on curry, can't remember if it was someone here or RL said that their MW had said red wine, sex and chinese curry after she had had a sweep.

Please though ladies - tell me where you feel/see the kicks from your babies. Are they all out the sides or can you not see them only feel them inside or do you see any right out the front by your belly button?

HoHoHousemum · 07/12/2007 19:39

Pineapples are on special in Sainsbury's! Just a thought for bringing things on... (extra-sweet pineapples 2 for £2.50 normally £1.89 each)

My little ratbag has moved back-to-back according to MW yesterday - I was feeling the kicks "inside" but one was really at the front earlier - small part of body poking my belly button! More to the side this evening so perhaps it's shuffling back. It's had its back in the right place for weeks so I'm not happy if it's going to move to the "wrong" place so near the end!!

Wizzska - such a cute picture. I'm feeling all broody now - hang on, I'm meant to be!

Oh yes, went to M'Care today and they had some sleep bras in - soft bras in a 2 pack of pink and cream - sizes based on underbust size eg 34/36, 36/38, 40/42 - thought they'd do for the beginning until boobs settle to the right size for a proper bra (I think you get a MN discount at figleaves.com of 10% and they have pretty good measuring guides and I think they do free exchanges so would save leaving the house!)

mellymooks · 07/12/2007 20:40

Loucee - i feel the babe's feet on the right side of me and elbow and hands low down on left side, sometimes will see strong movement and can make out definite "limbs" other times more faint general stretching/fidgiting, it's hard to describe it!!

SarahPT · 07/12/2007 20:46

hey everybody
sorry for the disjointed message that is abiut 2 follow but not much sleep last 2 nights and fingers won't work properly with keyboard
Our beautiful (of course i'm biased) baby son arrived at 9.30 yesterday morning

weighing in at 8 lbs 4 oz

no name as yet

had contractions throughout weds which werre 3 mins apart by 1 am thurs am

went to hospital but as 'on;y' 3 cm dilated given choice of going home again or staying on labour ward without DH until 7 am

came home as only about 10 min dtive to hosp from our house and went back in at 7ish with waters breaking in meantime

thang god for tens machine !!!

huge relief 2b told that could push if wanted to and luckily after not very many hideous contractions DS arrived at 9.30 in cloud of gas and air

kept in hosp overnight due to stiches and losing fair whack of blood but home now and he's now had a screaming fit while i was trying 2 post msg but is now fast asleep in my arms while i type one handed and was worth every second of labour, fat ankles and lack of sleep

thanx 4 all your support recently

FurryFox · 07/12/2007 20:56

Ah well done Sarah and congratulations Glad the birth sounds good and that you are now home with your baby boy in your arms Let us know when you've decided on a name please

thingamajig · 07/12/2007 21:03

Huge congrats to Sarah and Wizzska and everyone else who has had babies. Whizz, Rory is gorgeous, I want one like that. I'm 38 weeks today and all you people having babies are making me jealous, I am sooo impatient.
Loucee, I can feel movements all over, sometimes I can see but not feel, sometimes the other way around, sorry thats not much help, but MW seems to think that she is in a good position, head down and back out to the right. I have a big dip around my tummy button which I have had all the way through, I have only just lost a sort of dip all the way accross where my waist used to be, so I was worried about her being back to back, but as I say, mw thinks its fine.
My birth pool has arrived, DH and I have had a play with it, and with the TENS machine, and did I mention that I cant wait???

insywinsyspider · 07/12/2007 21:05

Congrats Wizzka ? glad to hear Rory arrived safely gorgeous photo

Skid ? if you need some ammunition to have an induction date after 42wks I?ve been told I have up to my 42wk date (1st Jan) to go into labour naturally because ?its not convenient? for them to induce me between xmas and new year ? fine by me but I?ll be insisting on very regular monitoring, I think as long as baby is ok and you?re happy its ok, we all know the dates and sizes they gives us at scans aren?t that accurate

Claraq ? I?ve been having huge bowel clear out too keep hoping it?s a sign but if not a dodgy stomach and the hot curry I?ve just had will do it no good

Bouncing ? at your asda trip, hope you?re resting now and feeling better

Furry ? I was thinking the same thing about xmas cards, I was holding off but have to post some pressies this weekend so need to include a card, think I?m going to put ?and baby? would be a good way of announcing birth tho so might hold off the all but essential ones for now

Loucee ? sorry your mw is being rubbish ? I?m getting kicks to my right hand size and sometimes as far round as my belly button, I think baby is spinning on its head a little

HoHoHousemum ? pineapples in tesco 84p! (also on special)

Think I jinxed having baby by xmas as bought a half price newborn my 1st Christmas outfit for lo

Saw friends 6 wks old today and def getting very broody, she has 15 mo between her two and reassured me that she thought having 2 was easier than toddler and heavily pregnant?

Congrats Sarah! Let us know when you have decided on a name

mellymooks · 07/12/2007 21:27

loucee · 07/12/2007 22:34

Thanks girls for talking about where your babies are kicking. Seems to me then that most of you do get some round the middle too. Had a nice long chat with DH tonight and feel a lot better.......... think the lovely box of chocs he bought me on the way home to cheer me up is helping too!

Congratulations SarahPT, sounds like once you got to established labour that it went pretty quickly from there.

Insy - I also saw a reduced first christmas outfit ! I managed to resist it though because there were several other items in my basket and am trying to cut back!

HoHoHousemum · 07/12/2007 23:28

Loucee/Insy - as mine's due aftr Christmas I resisted the "first Christmas" outfit but bought a bib in M'Care for £1.50 as I figures it could just be a Xmas touch on the white sleepsuit if it arrives before the 25th!

Anyone heard from Mememummy? She was having some contractions I think?

As for measuring bumps, haven't for a couple of weeks since my vital statistics were 42-42-42 and I officially felt like a barrel!

skidaddle · 07/12/2007 23:57

congrats sarah - sounds like a really good birth - photo when you can please (as well as name)!!

loucee - mine kicks to the right of my belly button and a bit higher too but almost always on the right - he is def back at the front because I can feel it - glad you're feeling better after chat with DH and chocs

Xmas cards I have put from .... and ? (not quite born yet!) on the ones I need to send now (i.e. abroad)

I'm measuring 36cm at 40 weeks but still look huge (see profile)

meme - hope you have your baby already - look forward to hearing...

becklesparkle · 08/12/2007 01:09

congrats to Wizz, NBG and Sarah! So many babies arriving! Gorgeous boy Wizz!

Loucee, I also bought a mattress for my carrycot from the company Housemum linked to. I got a safety one with a mesh cover, it has holes in it but also a pvc bit in the middle (which can be moved up and down as LO grows), highly recommend them. As for kicks, I get them all over too but baby still turning a lot at the moment. Last night s/he was definitely back to back as whole front of bump was squashy! Has turned again now though!

Am sure all you ladies 'clearing out' won't be long - I had it with both DSs a couple of days before they arrived.

Does anyone else's skin feel really really stretched? The skin on my bump feels so tight it 'pulls' when I move or twist and it is quite sore the rest of the time.

buzzybee · 08/12/2007 03:31

Hi Bouncing, yes def looking forward to finishing work on Friday!! Shouldn't be too hard this week - have 2 Xmas lunches to look forward so although I'd like LO to come early at least I get those as consolation! Anyway Shells and I meeting tomorrow to go for a walk and see if we can moves things along for both of us (but more so her since she's now 40 wks +)

Could hardly walk last Thur for period pain and aching bum etc but now completely eased off - think she might have engaged but has now popped back up again. Was warned this could happen due to high fluid levels. Don't know whether to be happy or sad.

LO kicks me mostly to the right slightly above tummy button level but also lots of movement down low above my pelvic bone and these can be all over the place. Recently have seen less "limbs" poking out - suspect she's more curled up with less room.

Yesterday she was moving almost constantly all day, today hardly at all (tired maybe!)

Was reading GF CLB book last night - some quite good tips in there about getting ready for LOs arrival. E.g. making up the bassinet or cot with sheets ready for first night home. Also reminded myself some of the stuff about how long babies tend to stay awake between sleeps etc - I never followed her routines, but found it good to keep in mind things like trying to never let them go more than 4 hours between feeds and 2 hours between sleeps as rules of thumb.

Bouncingturtle · 08/12/2007 05:09

Hi Buzzy, my MW told me that some babies don't fully engage until labout begins, so wouldn't bee too concerned. Mine is partially engaged, not sure how much though.

Loucee - I get squirms very low down in my pubic areas, and i get sharp jabs just bwlow my diaphragm (which is probably knees and feet). I also get it pushing it's bottom out as well, towards the middle left of my bump!
