Hiya ladies,
Thought I'd start the new thread, hope you like the title! Best I could come up with I'm afraid!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Samsmam · 11/12/2007 21:26

oops gingermumi- cross posts.

CountTo10 · 11/12/2007 21:28

I've had thrush on and off all the way. Have had to stop having sex now cause that seems to be one of the things that was starting it off, even using condoms didn't make a difference (sorry TMI!!) as well as wearing tights so I've had to stick to wearing trousers, big pants and quite often at night I wear nothing to areate somewhat!!! I've just used canestan and that's it. Doc said it was just one of those things. i didn't have it last time though and my god its annoying!!!

princessllama · 11/12/2007 22:03

i'm also prone. i find the no tights and cotton knickers only helps alot plus cutting right back on sugar/sugary drinks and also drinking lots of water. boring eh.

beansprout · 12/12/2007 08:01

Sorry to hear about the thrush, it's just such a miserable business. Is ye olde yoghurt any good?

I have so much to do today and body that feels like it is slowly closing for business. Backache, SPD, cold, pulled muscles, moan, moan, moan....!!!

Ladle - how are LEo and Orly getting on? And you?

leggylil · 12/12/2007 09:44

samsam.....I too have suffered thrush constantly during this pregnancy, which at one point turned into cystitis and have had 3 UTI's, blah blah blah
I too have found it annoying as previous pregnancies were soooooooooooooooooo much easier

and as for you question about everyone automatically being tested for strep no you dont (though i think this should be changed -as have said in previous post) you can have it done privately though but ask your midwife/consultant.

had trouble sleeping last night my brain was in overload, its been great to have good people to talk to who have listened and understood what am going through and offering kind words/thoughts. Its good to know am not alone which makes all the difference so thank you all

Gill79 · 12/12/2007 09:58

me too samsmam, pretty constant recently. Am trying the treatment for a second time not very hopeful though.

princessllama · 12/12/2007 10:00

anyone else getting woken up by braxton hicks at night?

leggylil · 12/12/2007 10:02

no only mega heartburn at the moment!!! lol

LOVEMYMUM · 12/12/2007 10:25

Hi Merly - I also get tired. It's normal (if a bit frustrating). I have to remind myself that i'm doing everything for two.

Amy - how's the SPD?

Gill - oh my goodness! A placenta on a trolley!

Feeling a bit better. DH also has a bit of an upset stomach. I wonder if we've eaten something to set us off. The only thing i can think of is custard and chocolate cake.

Lucyand2 · 12/12/2007 10:29

As for Braxton Hicks - yes, it drives me mad when I have problems enough with sleep already! Last few days they've calmed down and bubs has been hiccuping like mad!
I've had thrush all the way through this pregnancy and it is driving me mad. I did have the pessary and cream but after a week it came back
Sex does seem to bring it back with a vengeance which is very crap at the moment as I'm feeling quite interested
My midwife forgot our appointment yesterday just when I needed my maternity grant form filling out. Very annoying!

manamana · 12/12/2007 10:33

wow - what a load of posts . am seeking refuge from my mother's visit - she is driving me insane with constant criticism of our house and MASSES of little negative comments about everything. She doesn't realise she's doing it so I have long since realised that best policy is adopt serene air and try and let it all wash over me - but am struggling this time, think its cos I'm stuck in and can't escape and already grumpy cos of spd pain. Luckily they have taken ds out for the morning but they're not going home until tomorrow afternoon - aaarrrrrgggghhhh. Just keep thinking about how horrible its going to be when she comes and stays when new baby is born and i am even weaker/more hormonal..... when ds was born i just spent every night in tears until she went again. Sorry - rant over, must keep repeating to myself that i am lucky she wants to help and loves ds...

LOVEMYMUM · 12/12/2007 10:40

Hi manamama.

Is there anyway you could ask her to keep her comments to herself? Perhaps if she knew she was upsetting you she would be different.

MERLYPUSSEDASAFART · 12/12/2007 10:53

Morning. Think I am coming down with a cold. Have that non-productive tickly cough that strikes in libraries and theaters. Managed to rouse myself before 10 today despite having an uncomfortable night of indigestion and the twinnies kicking off. Seems almost constant now. Wish they would synchronise themselves so I just get one lot of hooge kicks instead of 24/7. Oh well, at least they are active.

Jo9977 · 12/12/2007 11:46

Soz to hear about everyone's niggles, pains (physical and people!) and whatnot - not fun!

I seem to be surrounded by idiots at the moment at work - one lady has a wracking cough that's really chesty. I asked her to keep her distance and she held out her hand to me...so I said, no, really, please stay away...and she said it's ok I haven't had to have antibiotics and tried to give me a hug!!!! - how stupid can you be????

The next day she went to give a hug to someone visiting who had a hysterectomy a few days before...is she on this planet????

grrr - got that off my chest now!

manamana · 12/12/2007 11:49

oo merly, sounds nasty, take it easy...
Thanks lovemymum, good suggestion but assumes that we are dealing with a sane woman - she is ridiculously insecure and needy which means she's pretty self-centred, when i have tried to point out in the past that she has upset me it has turned into a mega saga about her and with her very upset and me having to do loads of reassuring that she's not a crap mother/person etc (she's a trained counsellor, scarey!)

manamana · 12/12/2007 11:52

Jo - that's insane - why does she insist on hugging you???!!!! Has made me laugh though, sorry but i have visions of this hacking cough woman chasing a heavily pregnant woman round in a benny-hill styleee. Mad woman.

Amy78 · 12/12/2007 12:11

Hi,

Lovemymum - thanks for asking about the SPD. I have been given crutches from the physio which seem to be helping although it is interesting trying to negotiate the stairs at work. You'd think a Special needs school would have a ift wouldn't you?!?!?

I've been plagued by thush and cystitus throughout the pregnancy. Having said that they're both something I've had about once every three months since I was a child so I guess I'm kind of used to it.

Tour of the hospital tonight - have't a scooby what to expect. Am going with my mum which could be ineresting as she doesn't have a clue what to expect either as both me and my brother were home births.

Samsmam · 12/12/2007 12:59

4d Baby Scan

Sorry that there are lots of pictures I uploaded them all for family to view!

I am reassured that the reoccurance of thrush is not just me and I suppose its just one of those things! The GP told me to buy stuff at chemist then when you get to the chemist they won't sell it because you are pregnant- they tell you to see GP!

ruva · 12/12/2007 13:12

Ah your lo is gorgeous.

zany · 12/12/2007 13:44

Just had my mid wife appt at 28+5 and everythign was fine. Still havnt managed to get on to nct class yet, the Wimbledon and Wandsworth nct seem to take ages to get back to you I started trying to get a place in September! Has anyone else had any problems getting spaces? Am thinking about going to another private session now.

Starting to get uncomfortable at night , might get one of those pregnancy pillows anyone got any thoughts on them?

LOVEMYMUM · 12/12/2007 13:59

Zany - i bought a long pillow from Mothercare. I found it too big for me and DH has taken to using it.

Amy - why doesn't a Special Needs school have a lift - how do the children get from one floor to another.

Manamama - any chance of having somebody else to help you if your mum is upsetting you (apparently my grandmother did the same thing to my aunt and my aunt got somebody else to help). Mind you - would that cause another problem?

Baby been kicking stronger in the last week. I can't stop thinking about the scene in Alien when the monster bursts out of John Hurt's stomach - especially when i can see LO moving under my skin (little ripples)!

Egg · 12/12/2007 14:20

I love my "big V" pillow. I sleep with it every night. Not that i sleep well .

No thrush here, but also no sex EVER so perhaps that's why!

Samsmam - so cute those baby pics, nice wedding ones too .

gingermumi · 12/12/2007 16:18

Went for scan etc today. Am now on insulin twice a day. Baby is huge (6 pound - am 33 weeks tomorrow) and has too much fluid. Apparently its all to do with diabetes and means, coupled with every other bloody thing thats wrong with me that baby will be delivered early. Consultant wouldn't say when but only, 'lets see how things go'. Am on weekly appointments now, infact I have two appointments next week. The diabetes can affect lung development and they get withdrawl from the sugar levels so being big is't a good sign, the rapid weight gain causes them problems. Also have protein in urine and blood pressure on the increase again. Yay - my cup overfloweth.

I have had thrush - try gynodaktarin pessaries - not sure if you can buy them but gp should prescribe them. Work really well for me!

Am off to check my bag of bits, see if i need to buy anything!

Hope day is improving mana!

Big hugs to all

Egg · 12/12/2007 17:28

Oh ginger, saw one of those discovery health progs yesterday with a lady with GD and her baby was also delivered early (I think 36 weeks). All was well though [fmsile] and am sure your little one will be just fine too. Worrying for you though, esp with the hassle of Christmas. Hope you are not feeling too low, they will keep a keen eye on things.

So someone does have a bigger baby than Gill!

samsmam · 12/12/2007 17:47

Egg-Not my wedding though! That was LO's godparents! I am still waiting for proposal from DP.
