Hiya ladies,
Thought I'd start the new thread, hope you like the title! Best I could come up with I'm afraid!

Pk616 · 09/12/2007 01:36

Welcome bluedomino, I can't tell you anything about c-sections I'm afraid, I'm a first timer but there are lots of other ladies here and some of them may be able to shed some light. I think you need a new GP! He sounds like a bit of a dope!

LOVEMYMUM · 09/12/2007 12:56

Hi bluedomino and welcome.

Can i ask, why did you find out so late? Sorry to be nosy - you don't have to reply if you prefer not to.

princessllama · 09/12/2007 13:48

hi bluedomino. my friend didn't know til she was 20 weeks either with her first-big shock. she's v happy with the result though, only thing was that 2nd time round she felt like her pg went on forever and ever! sorry no info on c section from me either.

Pk616 · 09/12/2007 15:33

Blue - apparently, not finding out your pregnant until you're 20 wks is quite common! I first saw my midwife at 6 wks and she was rather dismissive with me. I had a nurses appointment a few days later and I mentioned this to her and she said "Oh don't mind her, she's just not used to seeing anyone before 20wks, 22wks in some cases!"
I personally couldn't have missed the signs but I did have a pretty bad time of it - gestational psoriasis, anaemia to the point where I couldn't cross a room without gasping for air and seeing spots, I was sleeping most of the day and night, My breasts felt like they'd been chewed on by a pack of rabid dogs, I hated nearly every food item in existance, I felt constantly sick, I had a cold followed by the flu followed by 3 more colds, a water infection, a chest infection, uncontrollable vomiting where I couldn't even keep water down and I was quite depressed. lets just say the combined symptoms had me running to the doctor or nurse every five minutes throughout my first trimester!

Welcome and congrats blue. Can't help with c-sect either but thread is much busier during the week so i'm sure someone will be able to help

beansprout · 09/12/2007 20:07

Hi everyone. Have been ill in bed with flu for a couple of days. Hideous. Plus have pulled a muscle with all the coughing which has to be the icing on the cake.

Hi bluedomino - I had a c-section last time and am likely to have one this time. I would say to make sure you have lots of help for the first few weeks as the wound is likely to be very sore. I took arnica last time and had a really quick recovery so would recommend that too.

Pk616 · 09/12/2007 20:56

bean - sorry you've not been well, hope you make a full recovery soon

does anyone have any recommendations for what i should put in an advert for help part time for my 1 year old and new arrival? my friend thinks i should ask for a crb check-is this necessary? am worried it might rule out lots of people who haven't got round to it yet

ladlemonke · 09/12/2007 23:40

OooOOps, i jumped the queue.........

Two tiny but beautiful identical girls:
Orly, weighing 2lb 6oz, born Thursday 6th Dec at 3:42pm, closely followed by Leo three minutes later, weighing in at 1lb 13oz.

Both getting strongerer by the day.

Dont know when i'll get a chance to check back in, so listen up + take my advice: WHEREVER/WHENEVER POSSIBLE REST UP AND BE GOOD TO YOURSELVES WHILE YOU CAN, YOU'RE GONNA NEED YUR STRENGTH!!

Wondering about a name change now.....what do yous think of LADLEMUMKE?

bluedomino · 09/12/2007 23:44

Thanks for your welcome. Lovemymum, its a really long story but basically I was diagnosed with oesteo and psoriatic arthritis following DDs birth, as well as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I also have Pernicious anaemia, so basically I usually feel pretty crap. I was on the Progesterone only pill and not getting periods, taking arthritis meds, 8 codydramol a day and other stuff. Saw physios, OTs, GPs and Rheumatologists, even had a full body exam by the Rheumy 3 weeks before I found out, and he didn't pick it up. Only when I had BHicks at 20 weeks did big alarm bells start ringing and made me do the test. I was very sick but they thought it was the meds and kept changing them, everything else was blamed on my arthritis. Thats about it really. Hope everyone is keeping well, Blue x

Pk616 · 10/12/2007 08:06

ladle - Congratulations on the safe arrival of your two little gems, long may they continue to thrive! I hope you are doing ok in yourself, and I look forward to updates when you get the chance.

Blue - Ah lass, you've had a crap time of it, I don't know what fibromyalgia is but the arthritis and the pernicious anaemia is enough to wear anyone down! Take good care of yourself and stay strong, you're on the home stretch now!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh congrats LadleMUMKE, that's fabulous news that your two little girls are doing well despite being little, and that they are getting bigger and stronger every day. You must be relieved. So pleased they have been born safely . Must tell DH!

Welcome to Blue and Leggylil. Exciting time to be joining when we have our first babies already!

Have worked out we have had ten (yes TEN) separate sets of visitors since we returned from holiday 8 weeks ago. I have had enough.
