cant remember if i already said but booked homebirth yesterday, so waiting for the family comments to start rolling in about how mad i am

merryberry · 20/12/2007 09:31

grrrr. bad BAD policy change

candypandy · 20/12/2007 09:55

thanks feel really stupid but thanks!

preggersagain · 20/12/2007 09:59

STILL HERE!!!!!

No pj's today!! i suppose thats the joy of owning the company- i can do what the heck i like and if anyone wants to complain- well........ . No, today i have welcomed the lovely representatives of her majesty's revenue and customs into my premises to make my life hell for two days!! So far they have tampered with the tills, disturbed my filing system and drunk 6 cups of tea each they arrived at 8.15 am and plan on staying until at least 6pm .

I've had enough so dh is in charge now, i've got to head up to the hosp for monitoring again- i told the auditors this and they looked slightly alarmed when i sad i was on the verge of premature labour- and stress would most likely bring it on- hopefully they will be kind and not ask too many complicated questions about tax etc!!! our accountant is hovering around looking shifty- not sure why but i'll kill him if something is not quite right

piggyp · 20/12/2007 11:07

Haven't mn'd for a while, glad to hear LO's are okay. Hope you are doing okay preggersagain!
I got really scared last monday with constant BH, phoned mw who said I should go and get checked out. I wasn't expecting them to 'have a look' with a great big orange homebase style torch. It really made me laugh as I expected something more metallic and slim-line. DH thought they were expecting a powercut! Felt like very naive first timers. Apparently some people do just get loads of BH.
I held a baby for the first time ever yesterday - and she cried. It felt very awkward and I didn't know what to do, hope I will be better with my own!
Rather stressful day today as we are having a 100 ft+ tree chopped down as it leans dangerously towards the house. It's the biggest tree the tree surgeons have ever done and this morning they looked very serious, as if about to go to war. They are cutting all the branches off first and then as it falls they have got to try and pull it in the right direction with wires. If it goes wrong - goodbye kitchen! So today I've got to move precious things out of the kitchen (especially dogs!). This evening (if house intact) we're off to visit parents and in laws till the new year! I'm so excited to see everyone!
Happy Christmas everybody!!

surprisedandexcitedmum · 20/12/2007 11:47

Preggersagain, I suspect you DH will kill them if they so much as try to stress you out!

Skidoodle I too have 'blossomed' into a beardless Santa over the last few weeks. DP finds the sight of me trying to put on socks or tights very funny, and even funnier is when I muck on me and I don't know because I can't see it!

Brazilianmum · 20/12/2007 12:00

Preggers - hope everything is ok
HQ hope you are now fully recovered.

I can't stand this commute any longer. It's not particularly horrible just train where I normally get a sit and then bus for a couple of stops. But by the time I get to work I'm knackered.

Papaya - I've been getting a bit achey down below as well. As a first timer I just assumed it's things streching and getting prepared for the birth.

Saw Dr this morning and everything is fine. Iron levels good and all other blood test results fine. He said the baby's head is down, but I was wondering if as I still have 10 weeks to go the baby could still move and go back to being in the wrong position. Or if now that the head is down that is it and he will jsut get comfy there and start kicking me on the ribs.

Been getting a lot of back pain, I would love to have a massage, but not sure if it's ok as I won't be able to lie on my belly.

monthlymayhem · 20/12/2007 12:13

Hi everyone

Has been a bit of a mad week so have had to skim posts, but hope your girls are still snugly in your tummy preggersagain (you seem amazingly calm!!). Hope everyone else is coping with travel, aches and pains, general Xmas madness etc..

The pace of my bump expansion has certainly picked up - aided by the ridiculous number of Christmas lunches/dinners etc which have been on this year. I seem to have swapped my wine allocation for dessert and chocolate and just can't say no!! It's DH's birthday today so we are going out again tonight with friends and I'm going to try and get some sort of exercise in beforehand!!

monthlymayhem · 20/12/2007 12:16

Brazilianmum- also meant to say that I had a massage a couple of weeks ago which was specially for pregnancy and was fab. It was called a hydrotherm massage and you basically lay on your back (with pillows so not flat on your back) on top of a heated gel/water filled mattress. The massage was then using hands in between your back and the gel mattress (ifswim) and it was fantastic if you can find anywhere near you that does them...

merryberry · 20/12/2007 12:42

some masseuses have tables with bump and boos cut out specially for PG ladies too! google them, london has a fair few i believe.

HolidaysQueen · 20/12/2007 12:55

My local place does a pregnancy massage using a special bean bag rather than a standard table. It's an Elemis one so anywhere that does Elemis treatments may do it.

I've not tried it yet, but I've been dropping big hints about what a great Christmas present it would be...

ChristmasLauren · 20/12/2007 13:07

Hi All,

Glad to hear everyone is ok - hope everything stays that way for you Preggers!

BrazilianMum - You should definitely have a massage, I have one every week and they are what keeps me sane. Try to find a specialist pregnancy massage, I have a Clarins Mum to Be treatment and it involves some sitting on a chair action as opposed to using a bed. Some places have a pregnancy couch that has a big hole in the middle, they're great!

One of my friends has just had a baby and went to see him yesterday, three weeks old and utterly adorable. I was smitten! It's made me very very excited about everything just pray my baby is as good as him, he goes down at 10pm, wakes at 2:30am and then again at 6am! I'll take one of those please!!

Very jealous of those of you who have now stopped work, I'm working until 13th February and it seems like ages away! Hoping it will fly by!

Hope everyone is feeling all Christmassy and festive. It feels a bit weird thinking of it as my last Christmas without a baby... I'm a proper grown up now!!

Brazilianmum · 20/12/2007 13:11

I'll have a look near me for a pregnancy massage. Thanks.

MarchMum · 20/12/2007 14:10

BMum - all the Neil's Yard treatment locations offer preg massage, I had one that was quite good although I usually go to Sophie K Davis, who works out of her home in Kenisngton and has the special table. Google her.

Preggers - hang on, although if you gave birth in a great frock that might be quite a poetic entry for the girls, can't believe you are at work!

Don't know if bitchy is supposed to come at third trimester but that's what I am blaming it on :.) I am early in the month (3/3) so I guess that's why these things are coming early. Have definately started to feel more pregnant (than already was feeling) in the last two weeks, will be 29 wks on Sat I think.

DH OK, family funeral tomorrow and then we pushed our holiday back and leave on Monday for two weeks to Istanbul and then on to Dubai, can't wait for the hot weather. Likely won't be back on MN until new year so have a wonderful holiday season everyone!

HQ - that thread is hilarious. Am going to go get a cup of tea and read the rest of it - I have been laughing out loud.

Looks like 19th is best for all concerened so I'll fire up another meet up thread.

PS to Derah - I think a mild sedative is still acceptable these days for long flights, all my hippie cdn friends do it :.)

MarchMum · 20/12/2007 14:15

Jan meet up thread

here

MarchMum · 20/12/2007 14:15

btw, where is prisci, isn't she moving to bermuda soon?

e14mum · 20/12/2007 14:25

We're off to sunny Suffolk on Saturday for a few days at IL-hotel. I know it's not exotic, but I'm quite looking forward to it, actually. Picking up all the baby stuff my SIL is lending us too- really looking forward to that!

I thought Prisci said 6th or 7th Jan... but no, haven't heard from her in a while.

BM, I know what you mean about commuting getting to you! I don't mind work at all, it's just getting here that I think will finally do me in. 6 weeks left after the holidays!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Brazilianmum · 20/12/2007 14:33

Marchmum - thanks for the info.

Holiday in Istanbul, how fantastic. I had the pleasure of working there last year and know the place fairly well. If you want some restaurant and shopping recommendations email me at daniela _ baker @ hotmail.com (without the space of course)

My mum and dad arrive tomorrow and we are getting the house ready. DH has been decorating and the cleaner is coming tomorrow. Planning on getting my mum to get all the baby stuff ready for me (washing, cleaning etc) in January while I'm still at work. Well she said she wanted to be a hands on nan.

PurlyQueen · 20/12/2007 16:01

Afternoon all!

Is anyone else suffering from leg cramps? I had one that was so painful this morning that it made me bolt up in bed screaming. It's still sore now .

And I've picked up another cold, so I'm feeling fantastic right now. It seems that every bug and virus is heading my way.

Junior is still kicking away, so at least one of us is content

surprisedandexcitedmum · 20/12/2007 16:13

March Mum my due date is the 5th and I was 29 weeks yesterday, so I think that makes you nearly 30 weeks!

BM and E14M I know what you mean about the commute, the Waterloo and City line is going to be my undoing. Hey ho only January to go though.

Merry Christmas to those jetting off, the most exotic I get is heading back to the Isle of Wight on Christmas Day!

Have eaten too many quality street and little one is doing rollie pollies...

e14mum · 20/12/2007 16:54

I think you might be off by a week as well Marchmum... Surprise- you're almost 30 weeks!

PQ- I get mildish leg cramps a lot, and can usually fend them off ok by pulling my feet up (ie. NOT pointing my toes) if I wake up with it. Awful things, eh?

SaEmum- have you noticed the escalators at Bank are supposed to be finished in March08? I'm sure it's just to spite us!

turtledove23 · 20/12/2007 17:58

I know you'll all hate me for saying this but I am still in my pajamas. I got up at 12 to eat, did some things around the house, watched a film and then made us some fajitas to eat. Am now finally off to start the day with a shower! Disgusting behaviour, I know, but had to do it on my first day.
Hope everyone has a pain and trouble free day tomorrow. It's the first day of my new fitness regime and house sorting. Boo!

JFly · 20/12/2007 18:59

Suprise - I'm feeling ill from the quality street and baby is certainly on a sugar high!

Turtle - I'm working from home starting Jan 2 (one more day of commuting - woo hoo!) and I plan to stay in my PJs for the entire month. Or two. Or three!

minspugs · 20/12/2007 19:25

pq - i get leg cramps in bed on a morning, wiggling them like mad helps

turtle - would love to stay in p;js all day, but would look a bit funny doing the school run first timmers really enjoy being pregnant with no other children to run round after as it wont be the same next time

timmyinatizzy · 20/12/2007 23:59

Just a quickie to say the move went well. We have done lots of unpacking and its starting to feel more like home now. One down and two things to go. Wedding is just a little over 14 hours away. Suppose I better go and get some beauty sleep. I also had my 28 week blood test on Monday, the bruise on my arm is superb!!!!

Preggers - Hope everything is ok. Was when you said your waters had broken.

Thanks for all your kind words about the wedding. I'll do an update over the weekend.
