Hello

I'm definitely worrying about irrational things too, although can be a bit of a secret worrier at the best of times.

Funny you should say that minspugs (I now get the name!) , my DH is a firefighter too and although I know that most days/nights he'll be doing more sleeping/eating/reading/tv than actual dangerous stuff, I still give him an extra kiss goodbye. Was particularly swept up by that tragic accident a few weeks ago where the firefighters died, was in floods of tears just thinking about it...putting it down to the hormones.

As for baby movements, mine has never been a particularly active puncher/kicker, seems to prefer rolling around and sneaking from one side of my tummy to the other. Almost like someone crawling under one of those soldier assault course nets iykwim. I definitely get quiet days, but as long as I can feel something it's reassuring

imjin100 · 13/12/2007 12:32

HQ I am totally with you knowing the ups and downs and the worries. About 3 weeks ago I had a time when it was hardly moving and I really worried - it is more settled now but I totally understand you concern. I've said before and i'll say again i am my happiest when it's moving, even a tiny bit just so i know. Stay calm, if you can, and remember that all these emotions are normal...or so i'm told! Take it easy today and be kind to yourself.

Now, my turn please...I'd just like a moment of sympathy - not a big problem in teh big scheme of things but just been to MW - firstly they sent me to the hospital, having found parking space was then told I had to be at the doctor's surgery so back I went - in a big q of traffic. Finally seen an hour after my appt, ready for anti d, which I had, all prepared with treats for after and now I'm told...again...no sugar for 6 weeks. This happened at the beginning and I found it really hard, this time around feels a bit harder just cos I know how much i'll miss sugar (oh and they said drop your carb level too just to add insult to injury). ANyway - it doesn't matter a bit, is not the end of the world and really I should complain because so many of you have much bigger issues to deal with but arhghghghghg....whole tin of biscuits and made a yummy chocolate roulade for friends coming round tonight...oh well. Just fancied a whinge, better now! Will reach for an oat cake...and pickle, anyone care to share!

merryberry · 13/12/2007 13:47

ow poor imjin, please accept this wafer thin, gold leaf plated, cottage cheese topped oat cake as my commiseration prize.

re: baby movts, i forgot to say that mine is still going for it fairly big time. at MW appt on monday she did something funny in order to hear heartbeat as he was kicking and wriggling so much: she actually got hold of him and sort of edged/crammed him stiller into the corner of my uterus so she could get the heartbeat! it really made me laugh, and feel reassured that she knew her business +++

timmyinatizzy · 13/12/2007 14:06

Imjin feel for you. Whenever you are told that things are banned it makes you want them even more!

Well good news on the moving front. We exchanged today! So the move is happening next Wednesday, two days before we get married. Eek. I suppose I'm glad it has happened this way as it means that we get to spend christmas in our new place. Although it won't be the same as dp has agreed the dsd's can stay with their mum over christmas and new year . We have had problems in the recent past with her seeing them, and she hasn't seen them since August when they stayed there for 3 weeks. She lives over 200 miles away (her choice) and thinks we should do all the running around after her just because we drive and have jobs and her and her dh don't drive and sponge off benefits! Dp has however got her to agree that we can take them to Florida for their birthday next October and have them for next christmas when it'll be Juniors first one.

Going to have a look to see if you've all left something in the Blooming sale! Quick question though, how do the sizes come up. I'm typically a 14 pre-pregnancy, is the Blooming stuff the same or are they small 14's?

Brazilianmum those 3D scans were superb, so real, bet you can't wait to meet Sam in person now.

gingercat12 · 13/12/2007 14:07

HQ Mine moves a lot about, but he prefers pottering about to kicking. Of course, he gives me really big kicks sometimes, but most of the times he is incredibly gentle.

merryberry LOL at your MW.

My LO attacked the Doppler machine yesterday. I did not realise that is what he was doing, but the MWs were laughing so hard. His rage aginst (Doppler) machine(s) started when at the 16-week appointment the MW's mobile went off. The Doppler must have amplified it, and he was not best pleased.

EmmaShawcross · 13/12/2007 14:39

25 weeks today!! yippee

Just to add i got a massive bottle of gaviscon free on perscription from my dr!!
wouldnt be without it

3madboys · 13/12/2007 15:41

hello all

feeling a bit pukey here today, which given i am now 29wks, is a tad annoying, i think its related to my blood pressure tho as i have been feeling faint again, and the fainting and the sickness seem to go hand in hand. trying to rest which is fun with the boys to look after

last night was a bit scary, loads and loads of braxton hicks, which were really painful, didnt go away when i lay down, in the end i had to have a bath and after about 2hrs they faded away, but i was actually considering calling the midwife. i see her next week for my 30wk check up so will mention it then.

hope everyone is well xxxxxxx

PurlyQueen · 13/12/2007 15:47

Hi everyone. I'm just having a nice cup of tea to recover as Mark 'Snake Hips' Ramparakash from Strictly Come Dancing has just left our offices.

GLAMpresentsforMAMAplease · 13/12/2007 16:05

Hello all!

It's my birthday today and I'm looking forward to an evening of TV and mumsnet (how sad am I? lol). DD at her father's and DP at college.
Just got to shove the dinner in the oven at nine thirty so we can eat when DP comes back. I didn't fancy going to meet him after college, too late and too cold.

Midwife gave me two nice presents today- GTT came back fine ({{{{{{hugs to you imjin}}}}}}) and heard baby's heartbeat as well. She also gave me a hug. I love my midwife.
Right, I'm off to see if the glitter has dried on my gift tags. Got all my gifts ready to go oop north as parents coming to visit from Manchester tomorrow and to see DD in her first ever school Christmas play. (she went to a strange school before)

Bye for now !!!! (Glam waves glittery gluey fingers at pregnant ladies)

e14mum · 13/12/2007 16:09

Happy birthday glittery glammama!

papaya · 13/12/2007 16:26

well brazilianmum you should be on commision from 4d scanners ;) we have just booked one after seeing your amazing pics!!! Hope you didnt mind me looking! They are amazing. We dont know the sex of our little one and must admit to finding it all a bit weird not knowing which colour it will be....! With DD everything was prepared, we were even decided on a name at just 20 weeks. This time, not knowing the sex has made me feel a little less pregnant if that makes any sense??? I havent bought ONE thing, cant even comtemplate the nursery and clothes without knowing the sex so I guess we will be relenting and finding out the sex after all! I am really excited now! Wanted to hold out and have a surprise but I just dont think i can will have to see in 2 wks and 3 days i guess!

Obviusly little ones health is the most important thing, but is anyone alse finding its starting to niggle them not knowing the sex???

e14mum · 13/12/2007 16:33

papaya, I am dying to know! But in more of an impatient way than anything else. I just want to meet our little baby!
We have 2 friends who just had a babies and neither knew beforehand- and they were such lovely and exciting surprises! Finding out about those LOs made me really glad we're waiting- but it's so hard! I totally agree with you there!

Brazilianmum · 13/12/2007 16:36

Happy birthday Glam.

I am still feeling exhausted. It's like being back in the first tri-mester when I used to have a snooze in the toilets at work. I'm sleeping well but feel very drained. My friend said she had anemia with previous PGs, so I will wait to see what my bloods say next week.

My mum and dad arrive next week, so will be nice to have my mum looking after me and being spoilt. DP is currently painting the flat so it looks nice for Xmas.

Ginger your doppler story is very funny.

HolidaysQueen · 13/12/2007 16:41

Happy birthday Glamama!

I've just got back from my GP and feeling tonnes better. My bp is fine, my uterus measures fine and everything feels fine. It's all just fine basically

The best bit though was that she let me hear the baby's heartbeat. After last night's trauma, it was so so lovely to hear him alive and well. I also got a prescription for Gaviscon and a letter saying I'm fit to travel (we're off on hols for a week on Boxing Day), so it was all more than fine actually

I'm now about to hop in the bath and glam myself up for DH's Christmas do.

Brazilianmum · 13/12/2007 17:19

If any of you want to see more photos I posted them on multiply

minspugs · 13/12/2007 17:40

monthly mayhem - i can see why so many firefighters have 2nd jobs! mines in his nvq stage so not allowed and never actually seems to be at work im sure the novelty will wear off soon and ill be throwing him out during the day!. the recent deaths of the 4 fire fighters hit home here to, i was reading the article about it in his union mag and it was heart breaking.

imjin - poor you hun, you have my deepest sympathys. i cant cope with no sugar for 2 minutes never mind 6 weeks

skidoodle · 13/12/2007 18:00

oh imjin that sucks, especially just before Christmas, but remember how well you coped with it the last time. I was quite jealous of your healthy eating and I'm sure you'll feel the benefit of it in many ways while I make myself feel ill eating crap.

Happy birthday glammama. Have a lovely evening. That sounds nice and relaxing.

PurlyQueen, tell us more. I don' watch SCD and I'm not sure who Mark Ramprakash is, but it sounds exciting.

HolidaysQueen · 13/12/2007 18:11

Imjin - I know you know, but just thought I'd remind you that there are lots of lovely lovely savoury foods that are as wicked as sweet things in their own way. I've just been to the supermarket and bought tortilla chips to have with melted cheese, jalapenos, salsa and soured cream - so evil, but oh so nice. And I also bought some posh bread and french butter for a snack/treat for me and DH and it was delish...

merryberry · 13/12/2007 18:50

Happy Birthday Glammama!

GLAMpresentsforMAMAplease · 13/12/2007 20:32

Thank you for all your birthday wishes!! Tbh, merryberry my glamour puss is hiding at the moment but she might come out tomorrow after my luxury pedicure I've booked with the voucher DP gave me. I'll be able to take my socks off again!!!!

congratulations, iliketojingleinmysleep

News: claphamlauren is very accident prone. preggersagain is too, but has a sparkly cast to distract her from the pain. some of us have shopped til we dropped on the nursery front, others are going LALALALA with our fingers in our ears about the whole getting ready thing.
