claraquitebignow · 28/11/2007 14:29

Good afternoon all

Loads of Braxton Hicks going on here but nothing else. My parents came for lunch but have left - I was hoping I would go into labour this morning so they could just stay on but obviously wasn't meant to be....

Have an antenatal clinic appointment at the hospital tomorrow so might ask them for a sweep - is that a reasonable thing to do at 39+5?

Can I join in with what I have eaten today (not v healthy):

1 bowl porridge (golden syrup flavour)
2 glasses grapefruit juice
2 cups tea
2 pieces toast and peanut butter (shared with dd)
1 small piece chocolate
1 piece pork pie
salad
1 slice bread and ham
1 small slice bread and cheese
1 apple
2 biscuits

Housemum - love the cbeebies video - v. amusing

Skid - glad I am not the only one who thinks the first few months will be a nightmare!! I hated the nighttime feeds last time, when it was so dark and lonely. But I am hoping it will all be easier this time as I will feel a little more confident and not worried that the baby is going to stop breathing every time I put it in its cot...

Hello all! If anyone remembers me??!! We moved house on the 1st of Nov and only just got back online today (I want to kill all of BT!)
Everything went well with the move even thought we still haven't finshed the renovation but I should have the final room (the living room) finished by the weekend just a week before I'm due - phew, its been a crazy old few weeks but I'm starting to relax now.

I don't know about playing mozart to babies in utero but my boy has had the delightful sound of power tools to listen to!!

Sorry I'm still reading through all your msgs and trying to catch up with all the news, so there's been no babies yet? But JARM has had a show...ooo how exciting

Anyone else having problem with a breech baby? I've just been through the nightmare of consultants threatening c-sections, which i really didn't want...He fianlly turned last week after I went for a session of accupuncture and saw the homeopath for the remedy pulsatilla. So if anyone else is going throguh the same I would say its well worth it, I don't know what did it but I'm so pleased he's head down and ready to go!!

Anyone bouncing on the birthing ball? I feel like I've stretched a muscle 'down there' through over doing it

Lizzer · 28/11/2007 14:32

OH I'm a bad foody today too - chips and spring roll, bleugh extra greasy and still feel queasy now

Hi Lizzer - of course we remember you!! Glad you're back with us and that your baby has turned. There have been a few babies born already - scroll down to list for details - there is even a Dec07 postnatal thread!!

ooh clara - sounds promising - are you doing anything to encourage proper contractions? You could ask for a sweep but don't know if they'll oblige - here they usually don't do one until 41 wks but your Dh could give it a go?

I've also been a bit over-enthusaitic with my bouncing Lizzer - it just feels so nice! keep worrying I am going to do it wrong and end up on the floor..

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 14:41

BTW clara - think that sounds v. healthy by my usual standards!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 28/11/2007 14:41

I have had 2 slices of marmite on toast for breakfast

then 2 slices of marmite on toast with 2 poached eggs for lunch

hmmmmmmm could do with some fruit and veg!

fifisworld · 28/11/2007 14:47

Nice to see you back Lizzer

I wonder how Thelady is doing with baby frances?

Amani- Your presents sound lovely

JARM - Hows things going? Has anything else happened?

Im so ready for this baby to come now, 16 days and counting then he will be out!!
Im having really really bad backache, have been in the bath 3 times already today as its the only thing that gives me any relief.
The mw did say he was back to back which is why ive got all the pains in my back.

fifisworld · 28/11/2007 14:48

And on the subject of food, ive ate nothing but crap for the past few weeks.
I could really do with some nice juicy melon though

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 14:54

ooh fifi sounds promisisng - let us know if there are any developments

Isn't it strangely fascinating to hear what everyone's eaten today (am currently on apple no. 3)

Lizzer · 28/11/2007 14:55

OH duh, stupid me, i hadn't got to the bottom of the thread when I posted that msg. Wow babies babies babies!! Ooo its so exciting!

Thanks for the welcome back girls...

LOL Skidaddle, I'm sure there's been a few birthing ball related injuries in the past. IT is just like being able to play on a space hopper again isn't it?!!

Lizzer · 28/11/2007 14:56

Yeah fifi, I would maybe be keeping an eye on how regular the pain is..?????

Oh it feels good to be back

fifisworld · 28/11/2007 14:59

I dont think anything will happen soon, ds was 2 weeks over and the mw said she didnt think anything would be happening soon, his head is only 1/5th engaged
But you never know!!

I just wish dp would do his 'duty' and try and help me along a bit but its a definate no from him

claireybraxtonhicks · 28/11/2007 15:01

PUT DOWN THE FRUIT!!!

Lizzer I am avoiding excess bouncing this time as dd expected it when she was born (was the only way to settle her) and you can imagine bouncing after just having given birth is NOT pleasant! Had to be me too as noone else had the right rhythm!

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 15:02

fifi - but 2nd babies' heads often don't engage until labour starts...

would your dp not even agree to a blowjob? (I assume that was what you were referring to, otherwise )

mixedmama · 28/11/2007 15:07

skidd - u make me laugh so much.

fifisworld · 28/11/2007 15:08

Oohh do they not, i still dont think im that lucky for him to come early.
Im destined to go up to my cs date i just know i am

yes thats what i was referring to skid

Ive tried offering allsorts but he says i will expect sex and he doesnt feel comfortable doing it, he was the same with ds i was begging him as i was 2 weeks overdue but he wouldnt give in [sngry]

tabimum · 28/11/2007 15:10

Unrelated to any discussion currently on going - but figured you ladies were the best people to ask......I want to get a baby carrier for LO (didnt have one with DD) - which is best?

cazzybabs · 28/11/2007 15:16

Well I am due Friday/Monday and am keeping legs firnly crossed....it has suddenly got more active and I have got more energy (hopefully though not a sign it is going to come)...want to make next MW appoitment where I am going to lie in bed all day - until appoitment and then drive there (rather than cycling and see if that makes any difference)...mind you I don't intend on cycling when in labour, but neither do I intend to lie in bed!

Beanstermummy · 28/11/2007 15:22

Hi Guys - sorry for being AWOL - weekends jsut sort of melt away then major stress on Monday. Sun night loads of contractions 10 mins or so apart but tailed off only the restart at half seven in the morning. By half nine they were really going for it so called DH to come home - panic for 45 mins as they got the 4 mins apart and really strong - then, obvioulsy jsut as DH got home they tailed off to bugger all and have only had a few odd ones since!!!!!! Geting fed up but telling myself this is positive Latent First Stage whichh might mean at least I'm sone way there when my waters go - anyone else out there having similar?

Have had a quick scan through and see TheLady has had a little girl - fab news - any one else?

See MW tomorrow so will get her to check what's going on - really just bored now (can I say that without sounding like a bad mum?) and want Button out.

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 15:26

wow beanster!! Think you are definitely some way there - can't believe they got to 4mins apart and then tailed off - frustrating is not the word. I can't imagine it will be more than few days now - have you been bouncing etc to try to encourage them, will cross my fingers for you

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 15:28

thank God for that fifi - would he really not even concede to a blow job - it is supposed to be more effective than actual sex

tabimum - there are loas of threads about baby carriers on mn - if you do a search you will find detailed discussions of pros and cons of different makes

good idea cazzy - home visit would be even better and then you'd barely have to get out of bed!

fifisworld · 28/11/2007 15:30

Im probably going to regret asking this but how is a bj as good as sex or as effective.

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 15:32

your gut is better than the vagina at absorbing the prosglandin (sp?) in the semen which is what is supposed to kick start labour - obviously you have to swallow
